Su Yu, a descendant of a royal chef, entered a novel of the immortal world. She became a second senior sister who took over a mountain full of wounded and disabled from her missing senior brother.

According to the original plot, her third junior brother’s golden core was broken. Her fourth junior brother gets into trouble. Her fifth junior brother was deceived… In short, they are dead, casualties, or injured.

Su Yu: Ah, this… our division seems to be over.

Looking at a group of skinny, weak, or disabled juniors, Su Yu, who wanted to retire: What kind of immortals are cultivating and fighting? Come and help me cook! Peace is a blessing!

However, when she researched the ingredients in this world of cultivating immortals and decided to make a pot of delicious vegetables… the spiritual energy in the wok was great and the fragrance spread, but there was a faint circle of energy, which turned into super-quality spiritual pill that could repair broken meridians lying on the bottom of the wok.

Su Yu: !

The seriously wounded and waiting to die juniors: !

Master Su didn’t believe in failure. When she was preparing to make a lotus leaf roasted rib, oil dripped and the aroma was overflowing. But at the bottom, there was a faint gleam of light accompanied a two-foot-long spirit sword, unparalleled in sword energy and a rare treasure once in a century.

Junior brother who gave up cultivation because of lack of spirit swords: !

Looking at the pots and pans full of spiritual pills and spiritual treasures piled up in her small kitchen, Su Yu frowned.

You may not believe it, but I just want to make a dish.

The heroine who s**ked her luck but went all the way to decline: ???

Because his cultivation rose too fast, the number one senior brother of Zhiqiong Peak, Xiao Muge, had to go far to the northern glacier to suppress his terrifying cultivation.

A year later, he finally avoided the Ascension Thunder Tribulation and rushed back to his sect, preparing to regain the luck for his juniors, but he almost didn’t recognize his own peak.

His third junior brother with a broken golden core had leveled up into Yuan Ying. His fourth junior, with extremely poor musical talent, had become a complete success… And his second junior sister, who is sullen, cold, and has never been out of her room, is sitting on the throne of the peak leader with her phoenix eyes narrowed. Her red lips raised when she enjoyed her junior’s respectful thanks. “Second Senior Sister is the master of our peak. She has powerful wisdom and is omnipotent. Senior Brother… Who is Senior Brother?”

Xiao Muge: ?

This is a cute fluffy read that revolves around an OP FL and her fans. There is VERY LITTLE romance and its definitely only present in the Extras lol! If you want a casual read involving a lot of food description just to pass the time, then you can take a shot at this.

The protagonist, our FL is extremely OP and there is no challenge whatsoever for her. She also actually seems really bland personality-wise for me but only really shine in the Extras! She became more vibrant there and... more>> I wish the author had written her that way in the novel instead of her bland self. Oh well.

ML also is mostly a backstory? He's like a background character that pops up once in a while to say "hi Im still in the story!". Don't read this if you want romance. Like the FL, his personality is more solid in the Extras.

Food is the key topic in this novel with a wide variety of food that is so interesting to see how it solves the problem lol.

Extras:

Spoiler

In the end it turns out the FL did not transmigrate. She's actually a Fairy, known as Fairy Su and she was initially really bad at making elixirs that taste good. Her elixirs always smelled bad and gave mortals nightmares. So, the Heavenly Monarch, boss of them all, who turns out to be ML, forbade her to use her refiner to make elixirs.

Fairy Su found a loophole and turned to refining weapons instead but the smell was still there. Then the Heavenly Monarch banned it again. So Fairy Su kept trying to do other things which is why she's so OP, she basically spent her days trying to find the loophole and also improving her craft. One day, she bribed the reincarnation God and jumped to the mortal world to learn how to cook. She ends up in the future where she learns under the best chef Su as his granddaughter. Three mortal lifetimes later (whereby Heavenly Monarch Xiao Muge is so sad cause she ain't there to torment him and he misses her), she returns and she is now really skilled at making food and turning it into elixirs etc.

They have a popularity contest LMAO and she and the Heavenly Monarch are tied. So they decide to both go to the mortal world and they each have to try to stop the catastrophe. The person who stops it will win the contest. When they were descending, another God throws down Fairy Su's pagoda which is like her kitchen/home and it hits her head, making her forget about her Fairy Su identity and she thinks she's a mortal who transmigrated LMAO.

It also explains why there are Jasper turtles at the pagoda which Su Yu receives cause Fairy Su made those to represent the Heavenly Monarch's pet to mock him. Initially she wanted to put the Heavenly Monarch's statue at the entrance of her pagoda but she was afraid he'll get too mad haha.

I think this Fairy Su plottwist is a nice addition to the story and her personality is so much more vivid and lovely compared to Su Yu.

Absolutely adorable story. Definitely a new favorite. Fun and refreshing the whole way through, no real enemies or struggles are faced at all. The only way this could have been improved would be if the romance wasn't just crammed into the 10 extras. I appreciate the dog food I was fed in a few chapters though.

Wells if you're looking for a food novel with a side of cultivation, this is definitely for you. The story is a typical shuang wen aka Mary Sue novel where the a modern day chef MC transmigrated into a novel where she is a canon fodder and uses her cooking skills to cook up elixirs, weapons and formations. The reason why I use shuang wen is because there was little to no obstacles. The author didn't even try to put any blockage in the MC's path. She just moved her... more>> wok and everything is solved in the very next second.

The novel focuses heavily on the creative ways the MC interprets dishes to solve various cultivation problems. It's a light and fun read. The author really used such interesting ways to use food to solved those cultivation problems which was refreshing and unique. It's not plot heavy at all but there is a major plot line involving the human cultivators and demons. The original FL of the novel did play a part in the story and I liked that the the story doesn't focus on the original FL and that the MC didn't even have to interact with her to deal blows to her. The way the MC conquered the villain's subordinate was so easy it is lowkey ridiculous and the final battle with the ultimate baddie was really really underwhelming. One thing I really enjoyed was the part where the author tied everything together when the MC arrived at the immortal realm (in the extras). It was so unexpected and simply perfection! Side note, I would have loved if the author added scenes of how she made her wok and ladles etc. It would have added to the story.

In terms of romance, it was nonexistent. There were hints of the ML being moved and the MC admiring the ML's fingers (lols) and his capabilities as a kitchen worker and that's about it. We get to dive into their relationship more in the extras which was enjoyable but it wasn't the most romancey either.

Moving on the characters, the MC is a leisurely chef who is the queen of bullshiting. She doesn't have much of a personality though the author did try. Shes not the cold ruthless type, nor is she the sweet naive type. The closest typical Mary Sue personality set up she is is the money grubbing shameless protagonist/ work hard to build an empire type (like 20% only though). She's is honestly there to cook, earn money and help her junior brothers and sisters. Just a relaxed chef doing what she enjoys. The ML has not much of a personality and his presence was forgettable and a wee bit redundant. The junior brothers and sisters, wells they are the typical side characters who supports the MC all they way (after the initial dislike is cleared up). The author did attempt to give them proper backstories but it was poorly developed and felt like it was just there to add a little dimension and spice to the story as well as to link some of the plot in (and made it feel like the story was not very polish?/ haphazardly put together?).

I know the review seems a little critical and it may deter one from reading but TBH it is not a bad read. For readers who enjoy the food type books this is definitely for you. All the food described and utilized in the novel is unique in its own way. As for cultivation enthusiasts, there are proper elements that makes a good cultivation novel ie level upping, proper cultivation terms, unique cultivation methods (ie Qin cultivation, chessboard cultivation, 7 emotions cultivation), pill refining, beast companion (somewhat), competition (within sects and inter-sects) and secrect realms. For those who enjoy plots, wells even though the plot isn't the most well developed, it is there. Not the best but passable. There are some face slapping elements too and the good thing about it is that it is just the right amount, not too pervasive.

Overall, if you like slice of life food novels, you should definitely give this a try. Not for those seeking pure fluff and romance or pure cultivation novels. <<less

Binge reading this till my eyes almost burst and still feel glad.

This story is really my cup of tea, idle cultivation with a heap of comedy and amazing storyline. Not quite big on romance, tho. The romance is only in the 10 chapters epilogue and not very clear from beginning to end. Anyway, don't read this story for the romance. Read it for the sake of comedy and food. This story will keep your attention to the end.

It’s a comedic cultivation story with a focus on food. Not a story to be taken seriously and the romance is very slow, lowkey and in the background. Enjoyable to read. The MC is Mary Sue btw. With clear expectations, this story is fun and quick to read. Don’t expect a complex story.

3.5 stars from me.

It's a fun comedic novel that's about food, the MC at first didn't even know much about her own abilities, she only wanted to cook food, but it keeps turning into either elixirs, spiritual treasures or arrays. But she always act like it's all part of the plan 🤣

She tried to barbeque spirit beast's rib but it turned into a sword, and she was like "yes, that was my intention" 😂

So why the average score? It gets boring and repetitive. MC is mary sue, everyone likes her,... more>> even the demons who came to infiltrate ended up becoming ber subordinate, it's really boring... there's barely any real fight, she could solve everything with cooking or with her OP sword skill. Here's another thing that doesn't make sense, cooking takes time, but she somehow have enough time to cook a treasure whenever she's under attack.. it doesn't really make much sense, there's plot holes everywhere in this novel, the only thing that kept me going was the comedy, but that slowly lost its charm. Other characters in zhiqiong peak also never suspected a thing about her identity, they just accepted her as their second senior sister.

In conclusion, you can read this if you enjoy comedy and food, but do expect several plot holes (not big enough to ruin the story so don't worry), repetitive plotline (new characters tried MC's cooking and became her admirers) & her solving everything easily with her cooking. I really wanted to read till the end but it just got too exhausting to read, so I dropped it. <<less

this story is goofy and lighthearted, very low stakes. The story drags a bit towards the end, but the beginning is fun and novel. The romance only really happens in the extra chapters.

Had fun reading this one, admittedly it did fade a bit later on. The plot twist at the end was funny. As it's cooking/cultivation focused if you like the romance actually occurring and not just appearing in the extras, you'd be disappointed. ML don't even show up beyond a paragraph here and there for most of the ch, in fact had this been no romo it would've been better. It's a very light weight novel, tho the ch are not that short. The problem with it is, the things established... more>> at the begging sorta get wrecked later on, about alchemy not being a good way to up your level, and even if it does help you end up with issues, that just gets ignored at one point and stays like that. <<less

It's a comedy, perhaps even a parody of the alchemy cultivation novels. I have read enough of those (and enjoyed them) that I really enjoyed how this book pokes fun at the genre and it's many tropes. She's totally OP and everything works out. The solutions are frequently over the top. It's more fun at the beginning just because she's so confused and overwhelmed by what her cooking has become, but I enjoyed the whole thing, even after she has come to accept her near 100% first try success rate.... more>> The food sounds delicious. The translation is excellent. A great fluffy novel for when you don't want any stress from your reading. <<less

This is something you read when you just want something chill with no angst, no drama, no unnecessary misunderstanding and no villain aiming for the MC because they're so infatuated with the ML.

On that note, it barely had any romance, but I wasn't reading this for romance, I was reading this to see how the next problem will get solved using food.

My only problem was that number of side characters showing up. I stopped reading for a month, and when I resumed reading I struggled to remember who the side... more>> characters were... <<less

I'm a little bored by how repetitive it is. Problem -> MC cooks magic food -> "Wow, this food helps my cultivation soooo much!"

Some of the side characters are interesting, but I can't really get into the MC's personality (not my type). Overall, if you enjoy that type of repetition and want some quick humor / faceslapping, go for it! The worldbuilding seems decent, and I like what's going on with the ML.

I'm not sure whether I'll continue reading.

A fun and enjoyable read, but the extra stories pulled it down some. I think it could have done without the extra stories even though it "explained" some things. I think it answered some questions but also created some plotholes.

But besides that, I did enjoy the story. It might seem "unrealistic" that she can create pills/weapons just from cooking but this is fantasy and fiction so that can be ignored.

The comedy/humor makes it a lighthearted read, recommended if you're tired of reading tension-filled novels. There's some face-slapping but not too... more>> obvious and doesn't feel negative (as in no negative vibes when reading this).

Would definitely recommend if you're looking for something light. Can stop once the main story ends, no need to continue to extra chapters. <<less

I give it 2.5 stars. At this point, continuing this is a struggle. The comedy is still fine, but the MC is so OP without reason. She thinks and so it is. There is no believable backup to whatever she made -- there's a need for [insert need here] and she thinks of a recipe, cooks it, and voila, here you go, problem solved. This created so much plot holes, the story is leaking... ... more>>
Spoiler

initially, the elixirs and weapons/tools she refined needed to be eaten by the person, but then she created an array over some caves -- how did she do/apply the array over the caves? Did she perhaps summoned it and casted it over the caves? That was not shown/mentioned at all. The arrays were just there after she drew the sugar art.

There were too many scenes of recipes and dishes that did not really help move the story along. It got so repetitive, it's boring. Not sure how long I'd keep at it or if I'll soon drop the story. Or maybe I'll take it as a sort of a challenge like watching all the Twilight movies... Finish it or die trying... ^^ <<less

Cute comedic reincarnation story revolving around cooking. In the beginning, the concept of the story and all the cooking was quite entertaining. But it soon got a bit repetitive. Every single problem in the world was solved with cooking. Whether it's refining weapons, refining pills, removing inner mental demons, climbing cliffs, creating vacuum cleaners, creating phones, creating homes, creating a lunch mobile wagon, or even attacking demons. There's not one problem that can't be solved by cooking.

I do have to admit that the author put a lot of thought in... more>> matching cuisine to attack the issues. Like using sticky dough to stick to a virus, or macaroni noodles as a tube, or specific named dishes to that did exactly as their original long Chinese titles in the modern world. In addition, the methods to enlighten everyone with their inner demons or epiphany to level up also seemed plausible.

If you're looking for romance or real villains, you're not going to find it here. There's only romance maybe in the last 3 chapters. As for villains, it's rare in Chinese novels not to have villains be villains simply because they are envious/jealous of the FL, or have all sorts of good looking side characters that are in love with the FL, or a domineering CEO ML that is jealous or possessive, and etc. The typical stereotypes aren't in this novel, which makes it a kind of relief to read.

However, I have to say that there is lack of tension and relationship in this novel. The FL feeds everyone, and they're all circling around her for her food, pills, weapons and etc. However, she only treats them as either customers or kitchen staff. So after the initial amus**ent, the FL feels very indifferent and bit too arrogant even though she's technically on the good side and trying to "fix" her master and disciple brothers/sisters. After solving everyone's problems, all the characters including her pet just get an occasional mention when she's using them for kitchen assists, feeding them, or to just show the audience how amazing she is.

Overall, it's still a cute fluff read, where any type of food or cuisine can solve all world troubles in unique ways. <<less

For me this was a unique spin on on the cooking transmigration trope and I found it fantastical and refreshing. The fairy rebirth trial was kind of eyerolling but not a big deal. The romance was sudden and almost non existent but I was more focused on Mc's cooking. Honestly, I wanted more of Mc's fairy cooking in the modern times. I certainly enjoyed the one extra the author had written about it, but all in all, this was a light hearted novel with an op MC and a super... more>> powered almost non existent ML setting out to save the Mc's sect through cooking. <<less
