Excellent novel, chill, very slice-of-life focused, I love how in-tune our main couple are with each other

My only gripe is that the title is misleading, it should be called the Bussinessman and his Wife or something like that lmao

If you like slice of life novel you will probably enjoy this. More than romance, the story is focused on detailing the life of farmer becoming businessman. It's somewhat interesting but time jumps makes it a bit less enjoyable. Also it would have been great to know more about the background of both female and male leads but nothing much is said about the 2. The synopsis is a bit misleading. FL and ML being reborn does not add much to the story as they both don't have... more>> gold fingers. The only thing is it made them more open-minded and much smarter compared to kid of the same age. <<less

This story deserves more recognition. Great slice of life, very relaxing

Contrary to what the title suggests, this is not a story that centers on the love affairs of the protagonists.

The main focus is the FL, her family and how they developed and improved their situation.

Well-penned story with no plot holes. The translator has also done an excellent job.

Please disregard the negative votes. They probably didn't even bother to read the story.

I was totally absorbed from beginning to end. Good character development, good story, not pretentious just enjoyable.

All the family interactions, the road from misfortune to fortune, the depth of the characters, it just makes sense.

5/5 if you like the genre this is definitely a good one.

rating: 4.25/5 (rounded up bc of novel's low rating)

like user Eeria said, if u enjoy slice of life novels, this will be right up ur alley. They're also right bout how the synopsis is misleading; v little info bout the mcs' previous life is given. At the same time tho, imo their past isn't super relevant or important to the story. I also personally didn't mind the time skips and thought they were well done for the most pt.

there r 3 main reasons I really enjoyed this novel:

1) it's... more>> well written. All loose ends r tied up by the end of the novel (no plot holes!), and there's no weird plot armor or convoluted logic to force the plot progression. Author did a great job including enough world building for everything to make sense wo overwhelming the reader, and also keeping the story primarily character driven but not boring since there's still a lot of plot happening.

2) the relationships. This is def more of a fam oriented story as opposed to romance, but I actually prefer that in this case bc of how great all the "side characters" r w how they all have discount characteristics and storylines that also make the line btwn "main" and "side" p indistinct (i freaking love the fl's younger bro XD). Additionally, there r no "misunderstandings due to miscommunication" (one of my least fave tropes) here bc all the characters actually talk to each other, esp the mcs, again, likely due to this novel being more fam focused.

3) the translation is excellent! Not only is the translation smooth and coherent w good grammar, there r also no typos and no issues w verb tense or pronouns. Additionally, it's clear from the small details like ch titles and the translation notes that the translator put a lot of care and effort into this.

note: there does seem to be some subtle misogyny interspersed throughout, which is the predominant reason I docked pts for this novel. This wasn't a deal breaker for me personally bc a) this novel is set in ancient china which wasn't exactly women friendly and b) cultural relativism. However, the misogyny is def there and p easy to spot imo, so make what u will of that.

overall, if ur a fan of slice of life, fam feels, historical, and/or wealth building novels, i'd def say this novel is at least worth checking out. <<less

4, 5/5. Why the poor overall rating? This novel is really underrated.

I love ancient Chinese novels especially this era. I've read a couple of them like this one when we follow the journey of a poor family as they slowly build wealth, improve their living conditions and expand. I especially love the fact they grow as a family, extending help to cousins, family friends or just the other village folk. I respect the hard work and the process is delightful to read. The amount of hard work each family member... more>> put in and even the family dynamic are some of the few things that made the novel interesting.

The pace is quite slow and there isn't too much drama apart from the problem and jealousy that comes with leaving as a big family and getting rich. The author still put some more drama towards the end and that little bit of plot change was welcomed overall.

Romance here is a subplot component and I think the amount here was just right. The male and female main characters' will and joint effort to better their lives gave a subtle romantic feel to most parts as their relationship was so harmonious and cute to read.

I'll surely re-read this. <<less

I enjoyed reading this one, it does fall short of 4* but I tend to grade up not down. It's a very carefree slow plot without much emotional turbulence, typical of porridge novels. The MC is never really shaken by any of the bad things the antagonists do, as usual gives off the impression of jumping clowns in front of a sleeping person. The summary is false tho, the story is nothing like that, they two are from ch1, while both are kids kids, planning to get married again, and... more>> the MC's personality is complete opposite to what the summary makes you believe.

It's focused on the time before marriage, not much is said about what she does as a married woman, and mostly in the beginning are her actions written about, later on it sort of becomes more of a family novel than MC focused, by that I mean the male side is more involved in doing anything and MC is more like an advisor. I'd say it's somewhat unfairly done in the sense that MC's family is considered as family both by her and ML while ML's parents are not truly considered such. There is definitely a double standard there, and it's also a bit annoying how the female elders are all shown as less reasonable then their partners. As for them being double reincarnation, it's a bit of a useless point because nothing of their first life is actually shared, besides the fact that they had a happy marriage and were rich.

I do have some complaints about the setting but tbo I am about to collapse from exhaustion so I'll stop here. <<less

While this novel wasn't bad by any means, I also can't think of any good aspect of it (maybe the synopsis). Going into this book, I was very excited based of off the synopsis. Although the farm life troupe is fairly popular, the partner's reincarnating/transmigrating together was refreshing and interesting to me. Especially because the synopsis made it it seem like they had a love-hate relationship. So going in I was expecting a lot of funny banter and wholesomeness. But despite being wholesome (I guess?) It wasn't what I was... more>> expecting. However, I still decided to give it a chance. One thing I didn't like was the FL and ML being actual children (they are 5) for as far as I have read and also acting like actual children too (I don't know why this irked me lol, I should be happy they aren't acting like adults in a child's body). Since the story started with them as children, I was expecting it to be fast paced, so we can see them as they grow to be adults but instead the author seems to be hyperfixated on writing about children. Like we get a daily account of everything that happens in their life, almost like a diary. And while the author tries to fill it in with some mindless drama to make it feel like less of a filler, it still felt like filler to me. While I enjoyed (I say this lightly) reading some of the drama I just kept on wondering where is the author taking us exactly, and when are we getting there? All in all, this novel just doesn't stand out despite its potential. <<less
