I've become an avid fan of Musali after this, even buying several of their books!

What I adore the most is the relationship and harmony between the MC and ML. It's not forced or abrupt, but casually eased in until it's so natural that you don't even remember where it began or how. It's a coexistence between two souls, and it's absolutely beautiful.

The action is great too, and the plot is amazing. It's not only romance, it's very plot heavy while still having plenty of cute, wholesome moments!

Really, really amazing. I had reservations about picking up this novel, but ultimately was really great that I picked it up in the end.

PLOT

This novel is of the genre that I usually enjoy, so getting into this novel was no problem at all. Moreover, the beginning arc was so exciting that I kept wondering what's gonna happen next. I have seen some reviews about the nonsensicality about the exam, that it was confusing and didn't make any sense. But one sentence from the last arc summed that problem... more>> up really well.

Spoiler

Don't be tricked into taking the exam. I might be paraphrasing, but that's the gist of it. The point is solving the "bigger picture" mystery, so to say. Therefore, solving and doing the exam is basically secondary

[collapse]

This novel really stood out amongst its similar genre peers due to a point of not being repetitive. There are about 5-6 arcs and all of them are more than just rinse and repeat action. With every arcs, new elements are introduced into the story, and all the elements play an actual, vital part to the main plot. There are a lot of chapters (reasons of my hesitation to pick this up in the first place), but they are all justified.

Spoiler

I do have one question, where did 078 go in the end?

[collapse]

CHARACTERIZATION

Honestly, the best part of this novel. Even from the beginning, MC and ML are really mysterious, compelling characters. There is something about them that makes me feel so drawn to them. It's either the writing or I just have a thing for "chaotic madmen".

Also, secondary characters that are more than just "cannon fodders"??? Amazing, give me more of that. I am a fan of Chinese webnovels but I have to admit that most of the times, secondary characters are written off as insignificant one-dimensional cannon fodders. So when a novel has really good characterization of secondary characters I can't help but get super excited because that a sign that a novel is going to be really, really good. Each and every one of the secondary characters also get a great ending so that's something to celebrate and write home about.

I love love love love love the dynamics between both MC and ML. Every single one of their interactions are gold. I wish there were extras that explores post-canon story.

STYLE

This is the first time I've read any works from this author and I really enjoyed it. The plotlines were amazing. You start out with so many questions, and each of them are answered through. I liked author's sense of humour too. It's really on point.

Spoiler

I mentioned that I hate rinse and repeat action, but honestly I wouldn't mind reading a prequel/spin-off that thoroughly explore the adventures of Examinee Qin Jiu and Invigilator A

[collapse]

Seeing from douyin, other works of this author seems like it's worth exploring. Probably will try to add her other works to my reading list. I read somewhere that this novel's getting a drama adaptation in 2022, there's also a listing for it on MDL.

CONCLUSION

Totally recommended. Read it, read it, READ IT. <<less

This is by far the best unlimited flow novel I've read. The characterisation, the plot, the emotions.........This is probably the first BL I read which had such a beautiful, healthy and well rounded dynamic. The relationship is well balanced. They were really made for each other.

This. This is the real meaning of power couple. Those who say that there's not much romance? According to me, they're very, very wrong. Love is not all about physical relations, hugs, kisses, smiling at each other all the time. It's about how well you... more>> can fit together. It's about fighting against odds together, believeing and trusting each other, understanding each other and being able to work in tandem. It's

I'm so happy and satisfied that this novel was able to portray it in such a beautiful and effective way.

Op MC and ML? Well, I may be biased (since I like op characters) but tbh there were many people who were really powerful. And they may be powerful, but that did nothing to degrade the story, instead, it increased the humor in it.

The characters...... I'll just say that you'll find that every one of them has a real role to play. Cannon fodders? What's that?

This story knows how to make the characters come alive...... even two or three lines on a page are enough to make you visualise their motives. There are so many things I liked about this novel. It's difficult to include everything inside this review. Just keep in mind that it's a story worth reading. Even if you don't like BL, read it for the plot and characterization, for they will never let you down.

A shout-out to the translator KK, honestly, they tranlated this so beautifully that I'll definitely give them full marks for the quality. There were a few errors, of course, but they were negligible. The schedule was also regular (though I normally read web novels after they are nearer to the ending, I appreciate regular updates).

[Translator-nim, if you ever read this, thank you soooo much for translating it, you are really, really awesome! (≧▽≦) ]

Honestly, what are you waiting for? Just read this story, it's completed so you won't suffer from a cliffhanger (≧▽≦) <<less

It's so good 😭😭

The novel is an enemies to lovers (imagine that times three), action, and it really feel like a post apocalyptic world (it's not) there's also little to no plot hole.

The relationships are *chef kiss*, the characters are *double chef kiss* and I really like the premise of the story. Time is vague, the world are vague it feels like you know alot but you actually don't. Though I was not really big on the shirley examination compared to the others but I can't really criticize it... more>> much. <<less

I can't say much since the translation has just started but I really like the pace and writing of the author. Basically its exactly what is written in the synopsis and so far its a interesting read if u like mystery/horror like Earth Online or A crowd of evil spirits lines up to confess to me. However given that i've read earth online which has such a deliberate plot and detail..i have to say that the problem solving in this novel is rather vague... I wasnt even sure how the... more>> clues in the room had lead to the answer MC had written. Like?? Where was his thought process?? Given that it was a university examination level question I expected one that could twist my brains but in this aspect I was kinda disappointed. But its also too early into the novel so I cant conclude too much yet but from what ive read it seems to focus more on the dialogue and character development of the MC and the people around him (examiners) which I find a little of a pity since its a mystery plot with a high potential. But irregardless im still looking forward to this book since the MC is so badasss and cool. Its hard to find a MC that is level-headed and unfazed by all the craziness going on around him. And yes he seems to be an individual that has shown unprecedented results so far so im curious where it would take him in the future! Wanna thank the translator for a beautiful job well done! <<less

I was prepared for the banter; however, I wasn't prepared for the amount of fluff between the MC and ML. The chemistry was wonderfully written (and translated). The transition in their relationship felt natural and happened at a good pace. My only minor complaint would be that the later exams became less fleshed out as the story focused more on the power couple. Overall, it was an addicting read! 10/10 would recommend.

Loved it. While there were a few noticeable plot holes I still enjoyed reading it quite A LOT and that is what matters. Thank you author! And people, please don't leave reviews if you aren't even half done with the novel it's kind of embarrassing. Calling the MC bland when you don't even know why he behaves like he does or saying they're relying on luck too much when everything literally has a reason and gets explained.

Rating it 5/5 cuz it's REALLY worth it! All characters have their purpose they're not thrown in the plot just for the protagonists to shine, the protagonists too, they're super OP but that's because of their background, liked the story, the exams, they robbing and kidnapping the monsters was totally hilarious lol! I think just the story around the system and specially at the end was kinda rushed not really tought it out to make a lot of sense, but that's totally ok. If you like power couple with powerfull... more>> shous then that's a perfect match for you!! <<less

I'm fully convinced that the low reviewers here don't know what a mystery novel is. Screaming "plot holes!!! Confusing!!!" but they give up reading after a few chapters. With mystery novels, things obviously will gradually be revealed and unraveled as the story reaches the end. If the answer to every question was revealed as soon as the question came up then there would be no need to even make the story.

Onto my review though, I wanted to give this a 5 star because I thought it was really good and... more>> funny, but I also have a slight complaint with it. The pacing is a bit rough. The stories problem was revealed around chapter 40, but nothing really happened until the last 40-50 chapters, and even then, the main problem was solved in just a few chapters at the end, so I got a little bored reading some of the middle-endish part of it. The story was still really interesting. I feel like the actual romance and battle to be together, and the infinite flow part could've been two completely different stories and each would be better on its own.

I still would recommend this to anyone who enjoys thriller/slow burn, because I didn't regret a single second I spent reading it. There's also a comic for it under the same name, so check that out <<less

this novel is so good

firstly u wont get bored

this is the main reason because ive read many novel that have 100+ chapters and the story in the middle of the novel just starts to get boring and not related to the main story, but this novel is not like that at all!

... more>> i especially like how funny moments are added in between and I laughed so hard, it was very fun

for the questions in the novel, I would say I understood 80% of them and I am very proud of it hahaha

for the characters, the main cp is truely very awesome, some people are saying that YH is too op, he's too lucky, but I wanna say to those people I u haven't read the full story please dont comment like that, it creates misunderstanding, because what's happening in there has a reason.

so back to the characters, YH is outisde cold and inside cute cinnamon roll, yes he's this sweet, he's talented and has a very keen observation for his surroundings.

the ml, QJ is outside hot and inside hot >-<

he is exactly the one that MC needs I would say

the side characters are not just side characters, and I like that very much, and 154 is a sweetheart

so as you can see I like all the things in the novel hehe

so go and read it now !! <<less

I just read it completely. I absolutely loved it... and a little hated it (I'm french so sorry for the mistakes.)

To my opinion, I don't care at all for the plot holes, and even if I also sense they were there, I don't care. The story is good but...

The main point I'm not happy, surprisingly : is the romance.

I sense that this is more a story about friendship than romance and for the 50th firsts chapters the 2 mains characters really had good alchemy, good potential... To be wasted

Spoiler

The fact we don't see any smut scenes = annoying but okay but honestly at the end I love Qin Jiu and You Hou but seriously what ?!

[collapse]

They were almost 0 times when they were alone developping their relationship, all their romance is based on
Spoiler

past relationship

[collapse]
to me then on what ? Immediate attraction because they are polar opposite ? (not spoiler just hypothesis) OKAY BUT PLEASE DEVELOPP MORE

There is alchemy yes but I wanted to see moments where that alchemy was burnt instead of innocent moment like
Spoiler

kissing a part of the mouth ?! Gosh are you adults or highschoolers...

[collapse]

It's just my opinion so please don't criticize it but I feel that the romance is indeed good but has the potential to be exceptionnal and wasn't, as if the second characters were too developped to let place to our main characters, or the story is more important than the romance when the romance is at the center so if she's isn't that developped... It's bad.

This story deserve to be read, yes without a doubt but honestly disappointed and I won't read it a second time ever.

The end... So bad

Spoiler

Chu Yue thought.

If that wasn't enough, then she could add another two words after that.

On April 17, when she removed the bandages and opened her eyes, there was a group of people waiting for her outside. They were her sworn friends for life.

Honestly but I DIDN'T CARE AT ALL ABOUT HER : we spend the last pages on her but we almost don't talk about the waking of our 2 main characters...

I mean I care about her but stop stop there needs to be moments when we concentrate 100% on the main characters and to me there was'nt any or it was in their past life...

Even at the last chapters we just talk about how everyone is doing well is the real world that is welcoming them... Without returning to our romance before it ends...

[collapse]

But a word for the translator : your translation is amazing and thank you for your work. I'm sorry it didn't please me as much as I wanted but don't take it to heart it's my personnal opinion and I still encourage every person to read it to make their own (and because it's still a good story to me) <<less

I finished this a few months ago and I really loved it. I first found this novel out from BiliBili - which was actually the manhua adaption. After reading the manhua adaption I decided to read the novel from beginning to end and it was definitely not a waste of time.

QQGK had great instances, and the plot was quite good. The romance was written well and I really liked the main characters dynamics. It is not bad but not really my cup of tea. Good worldbuilding and plot though. My complaint is romance and intimacy between MC and ML is bare minimum. The novel more focus on the plot and worldbuilding and if you are a fan of sci-fi, action, thriller, then you will enjoy this a lot.

I read the English translation of this novel. My score is a 3.5 which I decided to round upwards. Overall I enjoyed it but I did have some issues. This might get a little wordy as I have a lot of feelings, but lets get into it!

First, the good: I loved the MC and ML and the side characters. I enjoyed reading the characters interactions and learning more about them. The romance takes a back seat to the plot but you get some crumbs of it every now and then,... more>> and I enjoyed it. I liked their dynamic and the way the relationship blossoms. The way Mu Su Li writes pining... hhh. I loved it. I wanted more.

There is an overarching mystery about the relationship between the world and the characters and their relationships between each other. Despite some issues I had that I'll get into later, I really enjoyed the way the mystery slowly unfolded throughout the novel. Getting answers to questions I had was satisfying. I liked the horror aspects to some of the exams as well.

... Although at one brief point it wasn't scary to me at all, which made the tense situation hard to take seriously. Prooobably just me though.
Spoiler

Sorry but the mental image of anyone, ESPECIALLY Qin Jiu, menacingly bouncing a rubber ball is very funny to me.

[collapse]

There was beautiful writing in this book. I love the prose. The author is able to eloquently show us just how much the MC and ML mean to each other. Also, as I mentioned earlier, the way the pining is written is great. Props to the translator (KK Translations) for doing a wonderful job.

Finally, what I didn't like: This novel has a slow start. The beginning was so rough for me that I almost DNFed this book, but I'm glad I was able to pull through to get to the good bits. I wasn't a fan of the MC's aloof personality at first. He quickly grew on me as I understood him more. Also, the first exam was confusing to the point of being frustrating.
Spoiler

Seriously no matter how much someone explains it, I won't get 'answer' being an answer...

[collapse]
The climax of the conflict toward the ending was confusing as well with how much was going on. This leads me to my biggest gripe with this novel, which is the lack of logic at some points.

Sometimes parts of the novel were just straight-up confusing, the perfect thing happened at JUST the right time, or something fixed an issue with little explanation provided. I don't mind OP characters, but I also like some suffering, y'know? I'm willing to suspend my disbelief to a certain point, and this novel stepped over that line just a bit for me.
Spoiler

An example of this would be how Qin Jiu got the memory-altering reversal program from the system that doesn't trust him at all, AND made the earring into an access key as well. As far as I understood, this important detail isn't explained even during his flashback beyond a brief mention. There's other things as well, but...

[collapse]
I probably just think too much.

This novel is an enjoyable journey, just the pick-me-up I needed. Do be aware that it does take a little bit to get going and it can get confusing at points. I adore the romance between the cold as ice MC and charming but tough ML and how devoted they are to each other. The mystery kept my interest piqued and made it difficult to put my phone down. This novel is definitely worth a go. <<less

Right. Just like every book so far in my Completed reading list, this was also recommended to me by my wife.

Yes, I know it's BL, so what? The MC and ML were great. There was character development, they played off of each other and works like a hand with glove.

Story was very enjoyable. I was able to figure out the mane things about it and even still it was able to make some noce unexpected twists and turns.

These two guys are now on the same level as Meng Hao (ISSTH)... more>> and Bai Bai (AWE) as one of my favorite characters.

4 stars!

Very quickly you will realize that everyone calling the MC and ML as "OP" are in no way exaggerating. The author is constantly pushing the idea that neither of them fear retribution for their actions and somehow always know to exploit the rules and loopholes to get the outcome that they desire, without having to suffer even a minor 'true' punishment.

However, even as a reader who's read and loved multiple gates/dungeons/scenarios/escape rooms novels where the MC busts his ass off to succeed, I simply couldn't bring myself to dislike... more>> their OPness. And that's mainly because of one reason alone:

The story is structured in a way that makes it feel like it begins AFTER the climax arc of the story. Both the MC and ML are at their peak conditioning, their psychological issues aside. A major event is said to have happened prior to the beginning of this story, which shapes the situation and their interactions. As they slowly begin to uncover their past, their skills and abilities don't seem so extraordinary. So their actions are very nonchalant, easygoing.

The thing that made me deduct the last star was that:
Spoiler

to enjoy this story, you'll have to suspend your disbelief. The world building happens at the very end, and is a cliche. There are many plot holes and convoluted thought processed that are taken as a given, such that, if you begin to question it too much, the story falls apart.

[collapse]

But apart from that, I enjoyed myself immensely. The evolution of their dynamics as they get to know each other for the first time is very satisfying. Their interactions are admittedly short but fulfilling. This story is tagged as shounen-ai for a reason; the romance, while being a pivotal driving force behind the CP's actions and motivations, doesn't actually play a huge role in the text/writing.

The mystery element is non-existent, to be perfectly honest: it's hard to bring yourself to fear for the MC/ML's failure because they're consistently shown as people who're running a left nothing to lose, so-- might as well be mavericks theme.
Spoiler

This goes on until the finale, last arc, where you suddenly have to care !!!, because now they each have ONE person they care about, and that makes them cautious.

[collapse]

Anyway, despite it's shortcomings, I rate this with a high 4 stars, decided solely based on how much I enjoyed reading this novel. <<less

Extremely OP MC with equally OP ML. If you prefer weak to strong, then this might not be for you. As for the ones who don't really have a preference on the strength level of the CP, please read this trust me you will not regret it.

Plot and writing:

  • Very very very well written? Like it's not complicated and deep but it's like tiny threads which weave around and form a solid, very convincing story.
  • Everything has a meaning, and I mean it. Even the tiniest details will have a reason behind it, sometimes even multiple reasons.
  • A lot of the exam questions do not have a fixed answer, and it isn't required (they're going to destroy it anyways lmao)
  • Although I will always sing praises of the plot, if you (like me) like to try to solve the puzzles alongside the MC then you might be slightly disappointed. A lot of details are not given and quite a lot of times, a luck factor is included. If you're bothered by these, then the plot might seem a little dull.
  • However the writing and comedy is just so good that I honestly didn't mind any of this.
  • The way they solve the exams and create a mess for the system is so satisfying to read that I would forgive anything else.
  • Overall for plot: 9/10
Characters and CP:

  • Love them. Like literally love them so so much.
  • The MC is aloof and cold, but he has a reason for it. ML does his best to get his expressions out, and he gets a lot more expressive towards the end. You can feel the way the MC warms up to the ML and the people around him, going from seemingly uncaring to actively helping the ones he cherishes.
  • All characters involved have depth and liveliness to them, 3 dimensional and actually important to the storyline and characters.
  • They form a sort of found family and gosh I am weak for found family tropes.
  • The CP is one of the sweetest and most caring I have seen.
  • Can and will scatter dog food without consideration for the single folks around.
  • Also another thing I love about them is how much of their relationship is built on trust. They understand each other so well that they do not need words or looks to communicate with each other.
  • Something like tacit understanding between old teammates, or an old married couple lmao. But they could work together perfectly even when they threw insults and taunts at each other.
  • Overall for characters and CP: 10/10 would 100% recommend they are beautiful
TL;DR: 100% a must read I love everything about this book. If only it laster longer T_T I will miss it dearly. Till then, I guess I will read the manhua to satisfy my brainrot. An absolute masterpiece and I cannot convey it with just words, please give it a try!
