I've been putting it off for so long after reading the reviews like seriously they give u so much mix feelings smh BUT thank god I decided to give it a try. I read this in one go like finished it in 5-6 days so I remember the whole story and I can assure you that there are NO plot holes {not that I could find}, every thing is tied together perfectly, everything is explained perfectly towards the end and through out the story.

MC gets pulled into the examination center... more>> w/ his uncle and his cousin and some other strangers. There they need to pass five different subject exams to get out of the system alive. Every subject will have some questions u need to answer. I only didnt understand the logic behind their very FIRST answer other than that everything was understandable. I saw someone saying that there were some questions not answered yes our MC, ML and group didnt get to answer some questions but thats not really bothers u or hinders ur reading that much bcoz there was so much going on but u do get the gist of it when they are trying to solve it.

the hype from first to fifth exam that builds up and all the things that gets revealed bits by bits r so good {unlike 'earth is online' where the first half of the novel is better than the other}. If u liked "earth is online" u should definately check this out. I liked this one more than"EIO"

Translator did an awesome job too THANK U SO MUCH <<less

Don't judge the story by reading only the synopsis. Eventhough, the plot not put the details how the system grade the exam...... but overall this story is really good to read. Not bored for me and it always something new in their challenge to pass the exam. Not like some novel who like to do repetitive / similar plot in the chapters. For those who like survival type of plot, mysterious & enemy later become love story, you will love the story. The character development and interaction between characters is... more>> so funny especially ML & MC. They also crazy too. By the way, now this novel is one of my favourite novel. The romantic plot a bit slow but there is a lot dog food in their interaction. <<less

This is the all mighty powerful shou, very independent and level S brainy.
MC and ML are like ying and yang, they fit each other. Not only them, but all the support characters are memorable. The premise of the novel is similar to hunter games, a challenger MC.

I first wrote the review on June, and now October, I'm still giving 5star for this good reading!
ps. I love the translator choice of projects, all of them are good.

I like the mystery solving plot and the whole examination thing which is different from what I usually read. I think it is one of a kind because most of the survival game themed novel often revolves around horror and thriller.

And I love MC's character. He is like very calm and collected but I can see some of his funny thoughts in his POV. Mainly about the 001. The author added a lot of foreshadowing throughout the novel. I'm intrigued by MC and ML's past and how they're related to... more>> each other. Also, I like how the author includes some of side characters' POV which are great because we can see characters growth. I can relate to Yu Wen (MC's cousin). He's fun and interesting. I'd be like him if I were in the examination.

What I don't really like is that there's none elaboration or details about the questions. How the MC figure out the answer, what's the questions about etc.
Spoiler
[collapse]
Ex: in the first arc, there's something about 12 apostles and the examiners need to find out the traitor. They think the answer is Judas (11) but suddenly when an examiner wants to write the answer, MC quickly writes 12 (answer is Jesus). I don't understand about this part at all. And it ended just like that with no explanation whatsoever. It could be so much better if there's a detailed analysis of the questions and how they can answer it correctly without casualty. <<less

This was a really great read. I'm glad that the reason of the conflict wasnt the usual stuff from what I've mostly read.... more>>

the system wasnt for war usage and no govetnment invovlement. I got the wrong hunch

What stood out the most is the world building and the relationship of the characters.

This is a 8.5 or 9/10 for me. The early arcs were just fine but it gets better

From the duke to the end was great

The exams answers can be predictable but it's not the boring type but the "yes, I knew it!" enjoyment kind of thing (just wished the horror is in more morbid detail). Putting aside the exams, the plot is indeed great esp the timeline arrangement and how its been used for the plot progression.

The characters and relationship tho. About Qin Jiu and You Huo first, these 2 are so sweet T_T. Most may say that romance wasn't the focus but I think that is the focus, it srsly is the main highlight the plot. I guess in a diff way but still

it what made the system start to you know. Plus the amnesia conflict itself showed the romance's importance

Slow burn, yes, but still is the focus.

I love how it didn't only focused on the 2 main. I don't want to say anything more to avoid spoilers but can't ask for a better ending. 👏👏👏👏👏

My honest review of this novel.

The side-characters were amazing, they even had their own roles at and after each singular exam. That made me happy, since in most stories there's not a lot of major side characters.

The story and plot-building is good, there's close to no plot holes at all. And if they are I suggest you reread the chapter, since I as well was slightly confused on some parts of the novel when reading it for the first time. But the second time I read it, everything made sense... more>> to me. Also, if your thinking about which one you wanna read first (The official manhua or the novel, go for the novel. It has many more details the manhua skips over.)

The main characters:- Oh lord, don't get me started on them. Soulmates, one word I'd use to describe them would be 'Soulmates', have you seen that trend on tiktok the one that has slideshows and goes like::

"Are we together in every universe?"

"Of course we are, don't ask s*upid questions."

Or something like that? That's them. Lord, the UST, the way they'd lock gazes, when those small things would make the other flustered, when they're -SPOILERS AHEAD-

Anyways, I honestly wholeheartedly recommend that people read the novel and then the manhua, trust me its very fulfilling. <<less

Wonderful world building and characters with depth. In this case, it is quite obvious what made the protagonists fall for each other time and time again. The buildup to their relationship showed the tension yet the undeniable love. What I really liked about this story was it had a good balance of everything. There was enough humor to make me laugh, but also enough pain for me to feel sorrow.

I know a few people felt like the questions were unreasonable, but that's the whole point of the story! If it wasn't because they were unable to solve the questions and were dying, would there. Be any need to arrange death squads and send people undercover to destroy the system? The whole story is centered over how the system which was supposed to test the abilities of people turned unreasonable and was basically pulling in innocent people to die. And it's not like the questions were completely unrelated. Rather than a theoretical test, it was more like applying the knowledge from those subjects in life or death situations. And some exams were purposefully designed to kill off most people with only a minuscule chance of passing which the protagonist team with their experiences was able to take advantage of.

For people who said MC and ML were the only people able to get away with those type of solutions, let's remember how many people were there to help them behind that. They already failed two times before that. Both of them got their memories wiped and had to start over completely. Luck is also a factor in success and you can't discredit that. The system was based on MC's childhood and ML was trained for this, so of course they would fare better compared to normal people. And that too with the secret help of certain people, they were able to get out of tricky situations. The story wouldn't even have been possible without teamwork no matter how OP the MC and ML are.

Overall the feelings in the novel are written very well with characters that have realistic personalities. I definitely recommend reading it and I'll be coming back to reread this again in the future.

One of a kind horror system danmei. Has interesting plot, unconventional characters and quite a lot of humour. I love the protags and how they connected so well because of their great tacit understanding and similar way of thinking. I found each 'exam' instances very interesting, in the sense that it's not just about escaping, surviving, giving proper answers, or killing the instance bosses... the system is insidious and cruel, and the exam questions are never straighforward.
For such a novel, I expected very little romance and fluff but the... more>> protags, once they confirmed their feelings, showed a lot of affection towards each other, in actions and in words. They are so very cute together. I am a sucker for stories of eternal love, just like them :) <<less

Impressive story with very well written and unexpected at some points plot.

I never felt bored reading GUEE and that's because of the powerful character dynamics and the different and very exiting exams that they went through until they achieve their ultimate goal.

I love when not only the main characters but also the side ones have an outstanding personality, that shines its own way. This way there is a legitimate fullness to the work and generally it's just very beautiful to see many relationships developed and transforming into a very strong bond (922 and 154 for example 😔🫰) Also I love cool characters and this novel has a lot (Chu yue and 021 my mothers).

Do I even have to talk about YouHuo and QinJiu??? Best enemies to lovers to "enemies" to lovers to enemies to friends to lovers ever. But seriously, despite all the obstacles, all the messed up things the system did, they always end up together and even more powerful than the time before. I cherish their love and their strength, they're fearless yet sensitive for each other hearts. UGGHH -->INHTSYIHTLY 💔💔💔

I've read a lot of webnovels now so I'm writing brief reviews to help myself remember :)

What I remembered most:

  • my first unlimited flow danmei \ ( ̄▽ ̄) /
  • that first arc was so cool and so brutal; I immediately loved the dark tone that was lightened by ML
  • amazing balance of badass OP characters and insanely high stakes instances so you genuinely felt on edge
  • wonderfully grim instances but some levity via the interactions between the main couple
  • TWO mysterious backstories for you to discover, and the author did a great job of threading relevant background details in during the action. It wasn't a case of the plot being separate from the character development; rather, as each arc was investigated and conquered, so too were facets of the main couple as individuals and then with their previous mysterious history
  • I cannot recall how exactly the big thing was finally solved bc it frankly went over my head (;Д;) I'm too dum for the sci-fi stuff at the end kasjhdffksadjfh
Why I liked this:

  • I care about characters above all and a plot with arcs of action second, and this had everything in equal measure
  • You will get s**ked into the plot first with that viscerally haunting first instance but then you'll get hooked by the MC's character and even all the side characters, they're just so fun and interesting to read about
  • no spicy scenes but some spicy implication~ (´∀`) I mean the main couple is just so sexy, I wish there was fanfic!
  • heart pumping action AND horror that legitimately gave me goosebumps
  • I have no bad things to say about this I think everyone should read this then read the beautiful manhua xoxo

It's the second survival novel I have ever read and I need to say that it has really exceeded my expectations. Compared to the first one I read, this was so, so, so much better.

The story is about a system, which originally was made for military purposes, but had some problems and started to drag all type of people inside. Those people need to pass exams about certain subjects; unfortunately they aren't just simple exams, but can bring them to death. I expected this to be rather... more>> bloody, but it wasn't: this novel gave me some lovely feeling that I rarely have like "The humanity is so beautiful". I don't even think it's normal while reading a survival novel, but strangely it had this effect on me.

The MC is You Huo, a talented man from the military, who reached a high position even if he's rather young. He seems cold at first and I was even kinda fooled into thinking that he was another typical cold MC who doesn't give a sh*t about anyone expect the ML and himself, but I was luckily mistaken. He has his reasons to be like this.

The ML is Qin Jiu, another man from the military, a little older than MC, but is rather mischieful, he likes to tease, to smile and appear nonchalant in front of the others. Here, I also tought that he was just a shameless man who teased all day the MC for no reason, but he actually had his motives as well.

They're both OP (not a big fan of op MC/ML), they can boost/carry their team, but there's also a lot of teamwork (the power of many people is so... beautiful) ! I didn't mind their OP-ness at all, on the contrary I found out that I was quite glad that they were OP, because without them, many other people would have died TwT

About the relationship between MC and ML... Honestly, I had very confusing feelings for this CP. At first I found their interactions quite funny and cute, but in the middle I lost interest in them and just wanted to know more about the system and the plot in general. But later, towards the end of the novel, I was just destroyed emotionally by their relationship?? It was so damned bittersweet that my heart had hurt some times, like I felt so bad for one of them and was VERY GLAD that they found and finally have each other. So in the end, I like this CP (just a simple liking, because unluckily it hasn't that something that makes me go crazy for them as a pair), but if they are taken individually? I would do anything for them; You Huo deserves a hundred hugs, as well as my babyboy Qin Jiu.

A thing that made me like this novel more and more? The side characters and the relationships they had with MC/ML or with each other. I actually loved how MC and ML cares about other people as well, it was really heartwarming: MC had his little brat cousin Yu Wen, his uncle Old Yu (TRUE FAMILY!!), while ML had his subordinates-friends 154 and 922 (TRUE FRIENDSHIP!!)

There are also so many amazing women like Chu Yue, Shu Xue, Wu Li, Yang Shu, 021, Zhao Jiatong!! A special mention to another little cute brat like Yu Wen, Di Li <3 (their interactions are so funny/dumb/cute!! They always light the mood when together!) and to Gao Qi!

So...I recommend this novel if you like survival/system novels, strong MC and ML (they have a beautiful love story), good side characters! <<less

I read it like a two years back I guess maybe three. But I still remember the details of the story, not all of them but still quite enough.

From here it can be seen that it was a very memorable story, that lasts way too long and I don't think I would forget it in the future.

It was really a very very awesome marvelous story to me, and it had a very special place in my heart, cause it was my first bl novel with so much more... more>> than that of romance.

It has an astonishingly awesome plotline, and awesome characters as well as all the arcs, they were simply amazing.

Be it the ML or MC Or the other characters all left a very deep impression on my heart. It's a breathtaking story.

And the angst, though ML and MC really loved each other so much I cried while reading it too thank god it had a Happy ending otherwise, ,

I would highly recommend this story to you guys, it's a masterpiece.

Thanku so much author and translator for the amount of hard work you put into it. <<less

Effect would be best when reading it in a closed room, alone and in the middle of night. (I am saying this cuz u should know, only if u are able to sleep well even after watching horror should you check this out)

The creepiness, fright and many other things feels too real to me. When I read books I usually immerse myself and can imagine everything as if I am inside the book. This one will scare the sh!t out of us if we are like that. Whenever those type of scenes appeared I would feel like they are surrounding me

Very good novel, I read this after I finish Lawyers, the author's other work.

The translator did a great job. But I do recommend an editor because there are a lot of typos in the beginning. Halfway into the story, there are less typos tho. His other work, Slag Shou, has less typos. But this could be due to the fact that Global Examination was one of his/her early translation works. Also it really pales in comparison for Mist. Mist had no typos I believe... maybe because there was an editor?... more>> Well whateves, KKtranslates is one of my favorite translators! I do look forward to the little comments at the end of each chapter. Kinda funny.

This novel has a cold/lone wolf MC and arrogant/strong ML. So because of their personalities, the relationship is very subtle. It's not over the top dog food in your face. This author likes to spread a bit of dog treats here and there. But never leaves a full chapter dedicated to them romancing each other. There are chapters on their relationship, but again it's subtle so you won't feel like you are getting smacked with dog food. It's alright, I would prefer more of their relationship to be explored, but it's understandable with their unfortunate "circumstances".
Spoiler

The system is watching them 24/7. Can't do the pa pa or the smooch smooch with it breathing down your neck. Plus it's shounen ai. Don't expect anything explicit. At most the word thrust was used once. But it was on chapter 165 of 166. So yeah. Bummer. Also you don't really get to see the jealousy from the MC or the ML. If anything their relationship has been establish already. They have been together 3 times. It's like the broke up and got back together 3 times. But it is due to the system.

[collapse]

The enemy of the story could have been done differently in my opinion, but this enemy was good in its own right. Like Lawyers, the enemy in this story doesn't outright do much to them until the end of the story. The difference is, you can tell who the enemy is at the beginning of the story. However personally, the enemy is kinda bland. It's there to be an the main antagonist but that's it. I think it is just one of the plot elements that needs to be filled I suppose.

The side characters were great! I really liked Yu Wen and 154. In the beginning tho, I really thought some side characters might die because it is a horror theme novel. But compared to Kaleidoscope of Death, the stakes aren't very high. (Bro, that novel made me feel very scared because it takes horror elements from the real world). Futhermore, horror and comedy does not mix together. And having an OP MC and ML also doesn't make the novel scary. (A novel recommendation) A novel that makes you feel super intense is Virtuous Omega Pretends to be a Colonel. The novel feels very suspenseful that it made people quit halfway because the stakes were too high. LOL
Spoiler

Also no one really dies. The people who are dead just become brain dead. The people who died are still apart of the system, it's not explain clearly where they go, but it's most likely that they become NPC's of examination centers.

[collapse]

The arcs. I will keep this part spoiler free. Just know, sometimes the logic, discussions, and explanations can be confusing as f'k. I once had to reread a paragraph over and over to understand it, but it still doesn't make sense. I read the whole chapter again. It still doesn't make sense. But this is a fantasy novel, so the logic and explanation can be skewed to fit the progression of the story. Okay here are the spoilers.
Spoiler

like what the f'k was the part about the 3 Shirley's hiding in the 2 cabinets. I still don't understand it. And what the heck is the beginning. Just answering gives you points because you participated? My ass, the twins arc makes you be punished for getting the answer wrong

[collapse]

Anyways, although I talk about some things that seem like problems, they really aren't. If anything the novel is still enjoyable. Just could be a little tad bit better in some cases. <<less

Definitely would recommend this to anyone looking for an exciting and thrilling story! The enemies-to-lovers romance is the cherry on top.

Premise: The MC You Huo is suddenly s**ked into an examination system along with his cousin, his uncle, and other random strangers. They are immediately thrown into an exam with no obvious questions or clues. Each exam is assigned a group of overseers who punish any examinee who violates the rules of the exam system. To return to the real world, they must pass a series of of these tests.

This... more>> is my first infinite flow novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m usually not a big fan of horror but I pushed forward because the puzzle solving is compelling. The MC is fearless and thinks differently from everyone else. The side characters are well fleshed out and are important to the plot of the story. The OP couple will completely melt your heart. The novel has some really good one-liners. <<less

I've always been a fan of great world-building, and this novel hit the sweet spot. It's an unconventional infinite flow (kinda) novel with an exterior that hides a gem. At the start, we're inserted into an unknown world with almost no information, but it quickly becomes evident that there's more going on behind the scenes. With the addition of invigilators and an intricate (and sometimes funnily human) tyrant of a system running it all, everybody is conspiring to do something; We just don't know what that is. I won't reveal... more>> too much, but the examinees of this "Global Examination" are swept up into the dark undercurrents, especially the main character-You Huo-who's suspiciously lost his memories... (we all know where this is going).

One of my favorite parts about this story is that the system is not omnipotent. There are rules, and, just like in real life, the examinees can break them. Which, we find out insanely fast, is a hobby of our protagonist. The higher-ups deal with him a bunch. This is when the brunt of his interactions with the male lead happens in the first arc... who's also... suspiciously lost his memories. This law-breaking-law-enforcing relationship is what sets the tension between these two characters, with their hilariously opposing yet terrifyingly similar personalities. Like the system, they are not omnipotent, and their near-death encounters are fuel to a dizzying romance. That being said, their love for each other is rarely ever stated out loud, but rather latent. If I could describe their relationship in two words, they would be "clandestine passion". The entire story, I suppose, is a test of their love for each other.

So, why the four stars? Well, the story wasn't perfect, nor was it near perfect. For one: the plot holes. Like I said, the two main characters are not all-powerful, but they are incredibly strong. They're both impatient and reckless, too, which is the best combo to keep an audience interested. Most of the exams were passed with their own efforts, with little luck involved. However, there are those outliers where the exams were too difficult. One particular case left me especially unsatisfied because it got me wondering how a fluke
Spoiler

(the team function combined with the arc about the hungry hungry children)

[collapse]
carried the main characters through the first part of the exam. To clarify, no one else had this function, and it made me question how those other examinees survived the first part of the exam. I can think of only one near-impossible solution other than what the main characters used. Other arcs left me with the same takeaway. Still, I maintain that the world-building was amazing.

Characters: Characters other than the two mains were sometimes bland. As a decently experienced reader, I'm aware that this is a problem in many action-based novels of this genre. There were some moments that shone in terms of characters
Spoiler

(like the immortal lord and witchdoctor arc)

[collapse]
and the often subtly misogynistic traits of BL novels were nowhere to be seen. Still, there were so many ellipses. It seems everyone is just speechless, wonderstruck, awed when they witness the main characters' shenanigans. This... (hypocrite) is also a common issue in translated action stories. That aside, another problem was almost all of the random inserts' sheer and utter incompetence. I get that every smart author writes s*upid cannon fodders, but enough is enough. All that said, characters, major and some of the minors, shined a lot.

Ah, and the translation. Ok, look. KK has places where their translations are the best of the best. For instance, a resilient and speedy update schedule, an accurate translation, actual English-the list goes on. But sometimes I felt like the wording and/or word choice was iffy. In important moments, I felt like they put more effort into making the sentences not just accurate, but smooth, beautiful and thought-invoking. Most of the times, though, sentences were translated as they were, from Chinese to comprehensible English, and that's it. I think the update schedule (daily at one point, which is monstrous, I need this work ethic) was one of the reasons why this occurred.

To sum it up, decent plot+good characters+good translation+great world=a very worthy read. 4/5, read it, or else. <<less

This novel was a masterpiece, would definitely recommend and reread!! It's a story of a cycle of forgetting the other person but falling in love again regardless.

MC (You Huo) and ML (Qin Jiu) were made for each other. ;; They're so amazingly in sync but the tension is so real. They're both very OP, but it's what makes it enjoyable and comedic, because they'll easily break the rules without caring about the consequences.
