800 years ago, 3000 dimensional gates opened across the entire world. In that moment, it was as if 3000 different colored eyes opened across the world as hordes of monsters swarmed out of these gates like tears.

Some could destroy city walls with one strike; They had bodies the size of a giant and fed on humans

Some latched onto humans, absorbing their bodies’ nutrients and enslaving humans

Some infiltrated the humans’ cities, disguising themselves as normal human beings while feeding upon human blood to sustain themselves.

In a night, the Human race fell to the bottom of the food chain.

The world had turned into a paradise for monsters…

Two stars... mainly because I couldn't force myself to read far enough in the story to drop it to one star.

What a weird story, it goes into a lot of unnecessary detail on trivial stuff. Yet leaves out basic explanations on things needed for a coherent story. To be fair I think a lot of the fault rests with some really bad translation. Also missing is explanitory worldbuilding. 20 chapters in and I'm not sure if the MC powers are normal, or it's something he has to hide.

Some examples... more>> of the wonky translation.

A monster summoner is an "Imperial Censor" for some reason. His cheating system is called a "Goldfinger." A forcefield type skill is called "Blood power layer". Makes it hard to follow. <<less

This is good read. The story advances at very quick pace. There are no annoying side characters so far. MC has summoning ability so far, but may gain other powers later on.

Edit:

This became very generic story. I dropped it at 50 chapter.

This is an isekai novel where MC took over a body in a world where monsters and "grinding-like" cultivation exists with a cheat that mostly involves summoning monsters.

This is a novel where the beginning is bad, it felt like an amateur writing with a bunch of misplaced plot points that just breaks the story flow.

Fortunately it does improve with major fix around 200+ chapters and considerably improved flow at 800+. It's not flawless, but it does made the experience much more enjoyable.

The novel itself took a lot of inspirations from... more>> other works like HunterXHunter and some more Japanese mangas. It also highly influenced by IET style of writing in its layered world.

A lot of the concepts integrated in this novel are great stuffs taken from masterpieces, alas the author doesn't have a comprehensive view on how the world should work. It feels like the author simply went along the way and add more stuffs as the novel got more attention.

This choppy conceptualisation resulted in stretchy rules that changes depending on the situation and plotholes. Even so the author did a pretty good job at maintaining the core plot thus mitigating some of the damages done.

I do like the overall story but it lacks a lot of depth especially in its cultivation system that just turns into a number game at the end. It's an inferior version of an IET novel 3 stars. <<less

The MC was caught by an evil organization, he didn't like it so he did his best to escape.

He fakes his death with believable evidence and all. He spent tons of money to fake his identity

Then?

... more>> Did you know what he did after that?

He basically paraded his identity, he contacted everyone and even join a darn contest where everyone basically knows who he was!! At some point, I'm wondering why the fre*king so-called "powerful secret organization" didn't find him yet! I don't know if there is something wrong with the MC or the organization!! <<less

The story is not bad and I liked it very much for about the first half. After that it became harder to read and the last 1/3 was not good. I really liked the idea of the cultivation system and the "power" of the protagonist. The way the protagonist struggles and grows stronger was quite refreshing, except for the last part of the novel. Nevertheless, the novel also has its downsides, which have already been mentioned in other reviews. I noticed the following things in a negative way:

Spoiler
    • The later part of the story just gets boring. The protagonist simply rises far too quickly and the author throws around numbers that, in my opinion, no one is interested in anymore. You no longer have the feeling that the protagonist is facing any challenge because he will solve everything in a few chapters anyway.
    • The card system is not used so much after a certain point in the story (I think the last ~1/3). At the beginning there are so many creative and interesting things that are done with it, and at the end it is only used for two or three things (off the top of my head I remember "substitution", "promotion" and the "space he creates with cards in the virtual world to cultivate").
    • After the protagonist's gold finger tells him that he can ascend without much effort as long as he has enough origin energy, the story became more boring for me. I had the feeling that the author wanted to summarise everything in a single energy to make it easier to conclude the story. The accumulation of origin energy just felt too easy and streamlined compared to the previous, more interesting system and difficult progression system. Especially after the cheat-like virtual realm was introduced, where the protagonist could have farmed infinite amounts of origin energy, my interest started to wane.
    • The virtual realm. Time is stopped in the real world but continues to flow in the virtual realm. It just felt like a cheat that the protagonist could have done and achieved anything with. Incidentally, the other sword cultivator from the virtual realm, whom he had met in some palace during the fight with the raider, was also never seen or mentioned again.
    • The first ~150 chapters are not so good and even contain some contradictions.

it has its downs but overall I had fun and for me that is what matters.

With that said, if you are considering reading this, all I can say is give it a try for a few chapters even tho it changes as it goes I feel that the vibe is the same.

Dude, I can't stand the MC. Why?

1. He keeps helping people with no f*cking reason even if it means that not only he won't get anything in return but also lose things

2. His plot armor is killing me. Ex: His "team" is attacked by a lot of monsters, what happens? his system has a last resort attack that kills every being under a certain level, then they get attacked by a stronger monster, and a woman he saved a few chapters ago appears and kills it

3. He's the same "drooling... more>> over girls" type of MC. Well, not drooling but some of his line and thoughts are just... wtf

+ His friends/family/allies somehow happen to keep up with him <<less

I say give it a shot because that the only way you would really know if you like it or not, below are many of my opining on what I like and not like. But like any review, it can be miss leading. So you should try to read the story or any story to be sure you don't miss out.

One of the best novels out there. I would not read it all at once but in arcs otherwise, you might get bored from the story. The story has issues... more>> like it does not explain the cultivation level probably. So you might spend some time trying to figure it out or you can find the fandom wikis for the story which try to clear things up. There other issues but the world-building is okay, so there are some things you might like and not like. That why I say read it in arcs that way the issues don't annoy as much.

The arcs of the story usually happen when he goes to a new city but not always. So it up to you to decide when is it a good idea to stop reading and when to pick it up again. Which is usually at the start of a new arc, that way you won't have to go back and try to remember or read to find what going on. I like the story because it reminds me of Pokmon but with a lot of action and martial art, which is cool in my books and interesting. <<less

I can live with the rest of the novel but the fight scenes really are something

the MC is an idiot, he doesn't use the cards when it matters but uses it when it doesn't

the author is legendary for his ability to prolong the fights, of which in some cases, is just a scene where he describes the clashing of the MC and his enemy, that's all just some description of the clash then the prolonged fight

... more>> it's really getting irritating

the MC has the ability to kill his opponents fast but over over again he makes time for his opponents to make some moves, it's getting drawn out to add some f*cking padding

he always has some self made dilemmas that gets him in a pinch

heck I'm really questioning why I continue reading this sh*t

overall it's okay except the fight scenes

if you want some fast actions then try The Devil's Cage and The Hero Who Has No Class. I Don't Need Any Skills, It's Okay. <<less

Warning: If you don't like OP characters, you WON'T like this novel. The MC is seriously OP, not that he's super-strong from the start, but the speed at which he gets stronger surpasses that of every other person in his world.

I love this novel, I couldn't find a good novel for a while so when I started liking this novel I got addicted to it.
The MC isn't the usual idiot, he's pretty smart, gets used to the system, and learn how to use it to his advantage. There is... more>> (thank god) no harem, and for now, there is also no romance.
I love how he hides his powers so that he doesn't get too much in trouble, but if someone tries to mess with him, he's not afraid of beating his ass. He's also not overly good neither bad, he has friends but not just everyone he meets.
He is also not afraid of killing, he doesn't kill everyone but if he has a chance of killing someone from the underworld and getting his resources, he'll do it.
During the reading, I often had some questions about things I couldn't understand, for example, the "Goldfingers", which, by reading the comments, should mean something like "Cheat", "Divine blessing"; or for the power ranks.
Regarding the power ranking, it's not explained from the start, only when he's near that level of power will the author explain better, which is not bad, I liked it. Everything is explained slowly, without boring chapters that explain everything.
The translation could be better, there are some errors, sometimes the names/power levels are swapped, but it's not too bad.
I seriously recommend it.
It's definitely one of the best novels I have ever read, and I can place it in the N.1 position with "The Legendary Mechanic".

[FROM NOW SPOILERS]

Spoiler

[!!!!SPOILERS!!!!]
To be honest, I liked the earlier "cultivation" a lot, killing monsters is much better than just the "indoor/closed cultivation", that is so boring. But now, they came up with the fact that the cultivation system is flawed... I hope it doesn't get too boring.
To be honest, the "war" in the gravel world was pretty disappointing, I expected an all-out war between great forces, and even Lin Huang would have to use his full power to win, maybe because in some way a Heavenly God Level managed to get there but... Well, it wasn't that bad either, it's just that I was expecting something like the war in "Avengers endgame", or maybe the MC couldn't arrive in time, the invaders started from weak enemies and only when they were close to being destroyed "Boom" and the MC arrives saving their asses.
The last chapters are also been pretty boring, the MC touring the world, the MC babysitting his friends in the Great World...

Also, I forgot about something: I don't like how he gets OP skills and never uses them.
For example the Life Seed he got from which he can escape death 3 times, he never used it.
Or his Life Palace, which let his monsters to revive after death and gives them a great boost to their abilities... Never used even after it got upgraded into a God Territory.

this is a great read really. I binge-read this novel for a week but I wasn't bored even once and I can only say, it's really good. It's not the best but it's a nice read, I don't really understand the low ratings in this, it's not the best but it's a nice read, one can even say it's amazing.

there's also no romance which is a plus, I thought it would be a harem at first because there's many potential female leads introduced in the beginning but they all just... more>> became a squad with a few bro's. <<less

Well, I really like the concept of this novel. The setting (world) is also interesting and even the support characters are pretty decent. But sadly the MC is a moron, and not the forgivable kind but the kind that acts like he is smart and thinks he's making good choices but it's just the system that makes it all possible as most of his decisions only lead to more problems for him and his "loved ones". Though some are forgivable like him killing that guy who tried to r*pe his... more>> sis as honestly, that was right thing to do despite the repercussions. But for an MC who acts like he is cautious he sure makes a lot of s*upid mistakes. I can't even bother to spell out all the dumb sh*t he's done but sigh... the world and possibilities it holds are interesting (and updates fast) so... yea..I'm still reading it (more like skimming really). Try it if you don't mind an MC's that make s*upid decisions that endanger his family, friends and tons of innocent people.

Spoiler

LOL there was a time when he and his sis moved to a different city to get away from all the people that are looking for them for what ever reason, pretty decent choice right?... but then fatty (his friend) just calls and he's like hey fatty you want to visit? no problem, here's my address it's not like people could track/kill/torture you to get the information after all Underground organizations with tons of transcendents and informats won't even think of that. And funny thing is he's from earth where these things are common knowledge if you jus watch tv, or even play games... worst he was an adult... sigh

The first 100 or so chapters can be rated 1/10. I guess the author had no experience in writing before, so the plot is very poor with random encounters without reason and no follow-up story whatsoever and super unreasonable behavior of all the characters.

Spoiler

"I need to stop people from leaving because it's dangerous outside! How? Lets beat them up instead of explaining the reasons and theaten to kill them!" It was even marked as genius behavior and earned him awe and trust of people.

[collapse]

So, at the beginning, you will mostly wonder what the hell is wrong with all those people, including MC and author himself, instead of enjoying the story because, be it the plot or characters, they are totally unreasonable and weird, shrouded in insanely thick plot armor.

Later on, the story gets somewhat better, characters develop a bit of brain mass, but the plot is still driven by random encounters without cause and MC's forced s*upidity because there will be no enemies and challenges otherwise.
Spoiler

It gets emphasized tons of times that hiding his identity is important, but he gets exposed time and time again for s*upid reason like he couldn't be bothered to clean up his traces even though he knows its important or he decides to shout his real name with the promise to "return and kill" in front of super powerful and intelligent enemy which he has no means of killing just because he wanted to see his upset face. In times when his identity is REALLY sensitive, but well, he just "accidentally" forgot about it (i kinda hoped it was a typo until the author mentioned this "accident" himself in the next sentence). Other times he will be exposed because of his even more s*upid "friends" (no frienship bulding whatsoever, why they are even friends is a big question and exept being MC's weak spot they have no meaning for the story nor character development).

[collapse]

Those random "accidents" and "exposure" were mostly totally avoidable, but since they are main (if not only) driving force of the plot, you will have to bear with it.

Overall the story is quite enjoyable, worldbuilding in pretty good and deep, but all characters including MC are pretty shallow, their reasoning and motivation very questionable (if it even exists), and most "accidents" and "mistakes" have a forced feeling to them because they are too frequent and too obvious and MC never learns. He even degenerates sometimes instead. So, instead of enjoying the plot, you may often sigh in exasperation with a thought "not this again". But this problem is frequent in most chinese novels and if you can accept it, the novel can be a worthwhile read. <<less

Overall

The novel rates 5/5 until the MC transcend from the original small world to the bigger one, which is normal long Chinese novel. That's very sad because the small world part is only 1/3 of the whole story.

After that - the novel starts to detiorate at the rate 2-3 skip-able chapters with nonsense word filling. In the final 1/3 of the novel, the worst happens. You can skip up to 6-7 chapters and lost nothing.

... more>> Thus the star rating drops to 1/5.

[hr]

In the first 1/3, the world setup, the background, the other characters are good and unique. MC is transmigrated to the very different universe with Omnipotent card. He has family, friends, people around him to fight for. There is no little 2nd generation ancestor with great grandpa. No school tournament. The leveling up is unique. MC has to find and collect the monsters to help him challenge non-repeating mission to make him stronger along the way. He has good interaction and humor and joke with these people and monsters.

Some romance is budding with good girls too. Some girls are bright and sincere; some are snow princess. All are OK. They are not just the ordinary girl who open their legs wide waiting to be mated by MC like other Chinese novels. All females have their own path and destination.

His sister is very cute too. Lovely and obedient and wise.

His monsters are good too. Some are funny, some are cute. Each has own characteristic and potential.

Then come the big world part.

All the above disappears!. All monsters turn into the OP with ultimate power that can destroy every obstracle at ease. All girls are not mentioned any more. Later, all monters are discarded too. The MC's OPness is above cloud nine. He discovers that the previous world-destroying treat to the his original small world is nothing but just the leisure joke from the small fry of the unimportant sect. He just raises his finger, then all the problems that plague the small world for billion years simply disappears, silently.

Then, the babbling words-filling flood starts to form, slowly

It's now the best time to leave the novel. Else you will give it 1 star rating, same as me. <<less

There are a lot of good reviews so I kept pushing myself to continue, but nothing changed till now so I am dropping this.

I really did not like the MC.

At first he was really refreshing; 30 year old transmigrated to a 15 year old body. He kept speaking and deducing things that would be normally out of character for a 15 year old. It felt realistic and funny. But then I realized it was only funny to me. No one in the novel reacted to any of this. Like it... more>> was all normal when a 15 year old opposed his leader (someone older and more powerful than him, like 3 realms/tiers stronger, not just a little strong) and normal when his leader just took it and even rewarded him.

His plot armor was really bad. He has an AI that straight up acts and rescues him whenever he is in a slightly dangerous situation. There was never any point up to now that MC was in a dead end, trusty AI is here to save him even when the MC himself can't think. Sometimes not only us readers, the MC is also surprised by the AI. It kept introducing new things/rules to save the MC.

MC acts like he is a righteous person but everything is written in a way that made me think he was extremely fake. He stands up to people / his leaders at the time and refuses to abandon a town, claiming he wants to save everyone, but his inner monologues all about loss and gains, how the people around him are idiots, how smart he is to see thru them and how he doesn't trust them etc.

He refuses to shed blood and kill people until the last straw, but all his speeches and mannerisms are written to goad people to attack him so he can kill. And his inner monologue tells us he planned it that way to intimidate/manipulate people to act a certain way.

He acts like an entitled prick. He is very polite to everyone, but when they do not thank him or act as he wished them to act, he gets angry. <<less

This is not by any measure a good story. The MC is just plain dumb, the character development shallow, the world development made up on the fly and most of the time it all feels just a bit randomly put together. A lot of storylines just simply fizzle out because they were forgotten, even boss battles. You can almost picture the author thinking: "You know what, this would be kinda cool, so let's do it. Wait, does that really fit into the story? Ah, never mind, let's just do it... more>> anyway!"

However, although it has many faults, it makes for an easy and somewhat entertaining read. This story became a guilty pleasure of mine and despite my best efforts to quit, I couldn't help but finish the entire thing. So beware of addiction dangers! With 1935 chapters and let's say a 3~5 minutes read each, this novel has cost me about a week's worth of time from my life. <<less

like virtouso, buried heaven, the dynasty members, and also it has never been explained where the raiders that killed great heaven went off, and the traitor in the club that runaway has never found. I also want to know what happened to the other club members that team up with the MC temporarily went off because until the final battle, they didn't show up and I really want to know the expressions of the nephalic judge tribe when they knew that their queen, kylie is the mc's imperial monster. A novel that had potential but author decided to burn it to the ground. Rated the novel 4* star at the star and was set on rating it 3* but the final arc warranted a downgrade to 2*. The novel started off great with interesting gacha systems, pets and universe but the author seemed to have lost passion/ given up on the novel as the story progresses. Why do I think so?

  1. Excessive fillers. The author is a prodigy when it comes to fillers and MW's author can't even hold a candle to him. Case in point: Fights among random characters that do not involve MC lasted for about 10 chapters. In the same arc, there are 3 consecutive chapters that are titled something like "A's trump card", "B's trump card" and "C's little trump card". Genius.
  2. Repetition. Exploration zones x 100 because why not.
  3. Inconsistencies and sloppiness. Just too many to mention but the final arc should be more than enough to prove this.
  4. The entire final arc.
