In his previous life, Song Song was a pitiful man. Someone killed him, took his identity and his child, and became the first male empress in history.

Li Xiao in his previous life was even more pitiful. Driven insane by poison, he lost control and killed countless people and just happened to miss the only person who could have cured him in that lifetime.

After rebirth, Song Song knew that he could be Li Xiao’s remedy. He also knew that Li Xiao could be his strongest supporter. In order to regain their baby who also died in their past life, he decided to take the initiative this time– Only to find that Li Xiao was even more enthusiastic!

Tyrant Pampering Wife Diary is through and through a face slapping, power fantasy novel. The main characters hardly get into any real trouble and any and everyone that wrongs them ends up punished in some way by the end. There's nothing really too deep about this story. It's really just something to read wholy for fun, fluff, and to see how each villain will get tormented without concern for anything bad happening to the main couple.

There were a few problems I had with the story though.
Spoiler

Li Xiao turns into a giant man child around the chapter 70 mark with him doing an obviously horrible thing and making Song Song mad only to then come up with an even more horrible thing to make Song Song talk to him again. Like jesus christ that was nauseating to read through. Li Xiao in general was too clingy for me, but it's more of a problem you see in romance stories in general where the love interest is obsessed with the protagonist to the point where they don't seem to have a life outside of the romance (ie. Friends or actively looking for a good relationship with their family). Another small thing was the fact Song Song seemed to resign himself to interc**rse being an activity solely to pleasure Li Xiao rather than something they could both enjoy. It was disheartening to hear this is how it worked between them, but it thankfully wasn't a major part of the novel anyways since s*x scenes were completely skipped over.

[collapse]
I had a few other grievances with this story, but Raisins (https://www. Novelupdates. Com/fdrev/?comid=170577&sid=29623) already made a great review that basically sums up everything wrong with it.

I'd recommend reading this story if you're looking for something that doesn't require any thinking at all. Although, you may get more annoyed with Li Xiao by the end of the story. By then there's almost no conflict so the author basically uses him devolving even further into a man child to stir sh*t up and keep things 'interesting'.

A really well translated novel that was a pleasure to read. The translator puts explanatory notes in their translations (though if you're familiar with Chinese novels, some of them aren't necessary).

I love the interaction between the main couple. The main theme is how love helps one man overcome his craziness and helps the other grow in confidence. As a plus, the story is relatively simple and most of the plot holes are closed up or explained by the end. The one resolution I wish was more explicit is what happens... more>> to the former crown prince - he seems very pitiful.

Overall, an engaging read that I had trouble putting down (each chapter was rather long...) <<less

I stumble upon this novel out of curious in the first place. After reading this novel, I found the story line and how the characters grow really attract me to read it till the end of the chapter.

With stronger MC and how he handle the rebirth make me jumped in happy, because normally the MC will be potrayed as timid and lovely, but in this novel, MC character able to make me as a reader love him more.

About ML, this is the first time I encounter with this type of... more>> character, normally the author will make the ML as a person who make MC rely on him, but to my supprise, it is not in that way at all...

To arrived at the end of the chapter, honestly, I really feel reluctant because this is the most satisfied story ever I have stumble upon to... Really thank to the author who came out with this lovely story, and to the translator who pick up this amazing story and published it for us reader... <<less

This novel is very meh and forgettable, so much so that it took me 23 chapters of vague deja vu to finally remember that I read this 3 years ago 😅

I read this before I started leaving reviews on everything I've read as this exact situation happened to me before. Another really mediocre, generic novel had me start it 3 times and reading part way, all because of an awesome description. I'm not usually this forgetful, unless the story was just so meh and formulaic.

MC isn't that likable to me,... more>> not bad, but no redeeming qualities. He is obsessed with getting his baby, but then when he gets him is done? Also never really felt like MC loved ML, just in it for the protection and attention.

ML was fine until the bits with the kid. Not sure why authors even write about cute buns if they are going to have an overly possessive ML. It is okay to show a happy family with 2 doting parents. The face slapping was mediocre and some parts left me unfulfilled.

All in all not horrible, but definitely not going to read for a 3rd time... as long as I see my review. <<less

I gave it a 4.0, but actually I think it's more of a 3.0.

naive, abused (in the past) inters*x empress shou x overbearing, mu*dering emperor gong

mc: song2 is someone who had suffered at the hands of his family for a long time, and after being betrayed by his half brother in the previous life, he decided to turn things around with this second chance. thankfully, he gets his Knight in shining armour in the form of our ML aka li xiao. this is the first time I don't like a... more>> MC particularly, usually I start off reading stories siding and protecting the MC fiercely and biased against anyone who does them wrong. but in this case, I found myself getting the ick when learning more about song2. his personality is... complicated. a little low on the IQ AND EQ (sometimes), and does alot of pulling and shoving with the ml. he also has some seriously questionable morales.
Spoiler

u wanted a child so much and I was rly happy when the chap came confirming his pregnancy, but after the baby was born, MC went back to codling the ml...? what abt ur kid ma'am

[collapse]

ml: li xiao has a sickness whereby he gets random episodes of outbursts, in which he starts attacking and killing people regardless of who they are bc
Spoiler

he cant seem to recognise anyone when he's in that zone, which was also what led to him killing his mother. btw... he needs some therapy fr

but luckily song2 (mc) is the remedy to this disease of his, and is sort of like the temporary and also ONLY effective cure to help him calm down. everytime he gets into one of his rampaging and song2 comes to save him, all I'm thinking of is the "look at me! Jason this is not u!" typa scene playing out... anyway. I happen to like his character over the MC, which is surprising considering the red flags all over him.

overall, the plot is okay. it's basically a major face slapping on majority of the cannon fodder villains that hurt mc/ML in the past, and also kinda a slice of life (?) bc it's just the CP living their best life together. I give a brownie point for the good communication between both of them though! it's rare to find in such stories where there's a jarring difference in MC and ml's characteristics and rule of authority. but they are similar in some ways I suppose. one thing I can say is they make an odd couple, but also that there can only be such a pairing that works out :)

u can give this a try if you are looking for something shorter, and doesn't squeeze out ur brain cells to comprehend! <<less

It was cute! Sweet. Had some good characters. The plot was...I mean, it was. It existed. But hey don't get me wrong sometimes I need that plot-light fluff and easy face-slapping revenge. However, if you're interested in this or liked this, may I recommend Disabled Tyrant's Pet Palm Fish? Slower relationship growth that you get to SEE and evolves into a very dedicated and loving relationship with a possessive side, a prince with a disability moving up the ranks thanks to a male wangfei, mpreg without omegaverse, somewhat simple MC,... more>> Prince Drama, babies being cute, it has it all and imho done better. Most of this story I was thinking about how I wanted to reread that story. Still, I don't regret reading this and will remember it somewhat fondly. <<less

I read this 2yrs ago but I still want to share a few words or maybe a lot cos this novel has a special place in my heart for various reason.

so this is my first official "husband pampered the wife" Danmei and Lord, it opens me to a new world 😂 like seriously when I first gotten into Danmei and whenever I ask for a good recommendation it's always the one with a very heavy plot and slow and somewhat angsty but of course the plot is always amazing and... more>> Romance is top tier too but I have a fragile heart and even before I usually go for a mangas with heavily induced fluff content so it becomes very exhausting and at some point I was scared to deep dive into the genre after little mushroom/nanchan mtxt series and etc so I take a break for a few months but somehow I found this novel and glad I did. Plot wise it was nothing amazing, there were a lot of cliches and such but that what makes it so special to me. It was very fluffy and sweet it felt like I was on a cloud nine when I was reading this. It make my mood better throughout the day so I highly recommend this if ur looking for a feel good novel and satisfying face slapping the villains <<less

A very satisfying read. I'm glad I discovered this late so I wouldn't wait for chapters anymore LOL! I used to see this novel a lot but always skipped past it, I'm glad I tried this yesterday.

I really love the characters. One of my favorites is Emperor Hong Ran. He isn't the usual cruel Emperor we see on most historical novels. He didn't see his children as competitors to the throne not did he guard against them. He raised his sons well, I really loved that.

I also quite like Song... more>> Song's personality. He knows when and who to be cruel to, knows when and who he should be kind to. He is also very humane and knows how to be afraid at certain situations, unlike some MCs who are 'cold' because of their past experiences. I like how he somewhat changed into thinking of just using Ling Xiao as a mean of protection and to have a baby into genuinely loving him.

I also adore Ling Xiao for respecting Song Song. He never forced Song'er to have s*x with him when Song'er didn't want to.

anyway thats all!! You guys have to give this a read, it's definitely worth it. I'm not a historical novel fan but this one really hooked me!! <<less

Dropped at chapter 26. Went to go check out the last chapter because I saw a lot of comments about the ending and... yeah, I don’t want to keep reading anymore.
Spoiler

ML weaponises his injury and trauma in order to make MC and their child do what he wants. So toxic and disgusting. The kid is 10 and feeling neglected. Is this supposed to be a lighthearted happy ending?

[collapse]
Up to chapter 26 was decently interesting, though. I really felt for MC and ML. Shame the ending was like that.

Loved it! Was so cute and funny. Kind of ended abruptly but the last few chapters already felt like they were extras so it's okay, at least the story wrapped up nicely.

Although for some reason the ending felt so familiar to me, almost as if I'd read it before ? But I only read translated stories and since this is new I don't know how that could be possible ? I wish there was a comment section so I could ask lol

I like the story, the characters are a bit meh for me but... What I really like the most was how the author created the backstory for MC's life and linked it with ML's which made it clear that the past ML didn't fell "insta love" with MC during their one night stand.

Sadly, there were few points to be addressed before the story ended that didn't, so I invented my own ending in my mind.

Spoiler

1) Li Yang and Li Qing's self exile to Ping province. I had hoped that they at least were given some sort of assurance that Li Xiao supported their decision by assigning protection/title to them or something. (Of course when wearing BL glasses, they'd be embroiled with some sort of conflict with foreign agents and will be saved by foreign princes and then voluntarily married them as part of peace pact.)

2) Although I understand Li Xin wasn't reborn because the priest probably because there's nothing to bind the soul to and probably traumatizing for the child to remember being burned alive, I really wished that he did. That would made it interesting to see how the baby and father to vie for MC's attention. (Baby Xin smacked ML's face to make him stop hogging MC but his parents thinking that he was stretching his limbs.)

3) Ji Ying's story. How he was poisoned? Why? Where's his (martial?) brothers and sisters? What's his age? (Because I totally wanted a story where Ji Ying eventually managed to make Li Xin call him 'daddy' instead *nudge nudge wink wink*)

4) Did Bai Jang get his wife? (Totally should have had MC to use his wealth (extra gold from bet or Rong princess's guilt money) to set up funds for black guards who wanted to retire/died in action and got respect from them or something.)

5) The most important of all... What happened to the Tao Ties? So powerful and yet so silent... (They were sent to the battlefield where Li Yang and Li Qing's stories were at and managed to show off how powerful they were and managed to get acknowledgement from other military sects. They however, would turn into foolish people whenever MC and Li Xin were around, because they doted on them.)

The novel's descriptions seems very interesting. It's a double rebirth story, MC's a grandson of a tycoon and ML's a royal prince. They had been schemed against and died unjustly in their last life. But now they join hands to live happily together.

It's seems that the work is very good, but I'd recommend the translator to post it elsewhere - it's too uncomfortable to read it on google docs. Or maybe you can at make one file with all chapters? Thank you.

I read this a long time ago and thought it was really good until the birth part. The way ML made it all about himself was so gross. His partner went through a traumatic birth, needs all the attention and care post partum and all ML could do was manipulate MC into giving him attention and fake being seriously ill. How could he not give a single sh!t about the health of the MC when he just gave birth to their child. It made me so mad that I still... more>> remember after not reading this for years. Good story with a somewhat predictable plot. MC, Song Song, is gentle and a bit indifferent. ML, Li Xiao, is aggressive and intelligent. ML is devoted to MC, while it takes time for MC to love ML. As details of MC's and ML's past are uncovered, you look forward to revenge and it is satisfying.

Overall, there is a happy ending.

Spoiler

MC wants to have his child again so he wants to sleep with ML. However, ML takes MC back to his residence instead to bedding him. This is different from his past last. MC starts living with ML and it is discovered that MC can calm ML down when he has an outburst.

SPOILER...

...

ML had met MC when ML was 11 years old. At that time, ML was crazy and had runaway from his grandpa's residence. He was freezing and starving when MC gave him food. Later ML had an outburst and thought that he had killed MC.

Both MC and ML have gone back in time. They find out the truth of the conspiracies in their past. MC's dad and stepmom conspired to kill MC's mom and granddad to steal the granddad's fortune. The second empress killed ML's mom (the first empress) and poisoned ML.

ML was sent back in time by the head priest in the original world so ML could set things right by finding and keeping MC by his side.

Just as a FYI this is NOT spicy at all. I would call this Shounen-ai instead of Yaoi.

I quite enjoyed this Novel. I'm always mad when ML's do something really awful and MC forgets within minutes because of sweet talk. This isn't the case here. I resonated with MC in how he holds grudges and gets angry.

This conflict happened towards the end of the novel and wasn't a total deal breaker but the perfect opportunity for character development.

The rest of the novel had it's small ups and downs, nothing too... more>> nerve wracking but also dramatic enough to be entertaining.

I thought the names were a little hard to keep track of from time to time but it was still understandable.

Very well translated.

I also skipped the extra chapter because of the warning so I can't say anything about that. I was still satisfied with the ending. <<less

the story is good and interesting but the extra is not worth to read.

emperor personality at the end really unbearable. I get that emperor attack will get worsed but there's probability that he's gonna be ok but he still gonna use that act of illness attack in front of his child just not want his son to get clingy to his empress father. This really turn of. Before the child is born they already give him a responsibility. No matter what the son like it or not they just push... more>> their responsibility while his son is not even reaching adult hood. They always neglected their child whenever the emperor having an attack and yet he still so petty to not their child get close once in a while with them or on his empress father. I get that in their era the child must be headstrong and learn to stand early on anything but the ending of being petty on his child birthday really turn off. <<less

★★★★✩ [4/5 stars]

I really enjoyed this novel a lot. Not the best rebirth story but it was still a really good one. It has a straightforward plot and not very complex. The face-slapping moments will always satisfy me. I especially loved the fated lovers and unconditional love trope, and also the doting and devoted lovers. Those are a few of my favorite tropes and I'm glad to see those here.

Also, it's rare to see a sincere love and care between the royal siblings in a historical novel. And I mean,... more>> all the siblings, no exceptions. No pitting each other and wanting each other dead just to achieve power. Li Xiao might be cold and a tyrant, but he never harmed his own siblings. I really praised the emperor for raising his children in a way that he did. He never let the mothers of his children do the raising, but instead let the empress dowager to look after them herself, which is a very wise decision. They grew up literally together, and that's what builds the sincere feelings between them. If it's not for the poison situation that happened to Li Xiao, they could have continued that kind of relationship. But still, I can clearly feel the respect and love.

To be honest, there are actually some loose ends that I hoped got resolved. I was a bit disappointed but nothing really major that affected the overall plot. Also, the one thing that puts me off is Li Xiao's jealousy over his own son. I mean, he's a yandere who's obsessed with his lover, but jealous over his son? For real? Unlike some people, I don't really mind yanderes but to this point? I loved Li Xiao but definitely not that part of him regarding his son. I especially don't like the extra chapter because that chapter really brought out that part of himself.

Overall, this is still a worth read. It's not very angsty, it's even on the lighter side in my opinion, but I teared up a few times, not gonna lie. It's not very long, only 80 chapters and I even finished it in less than two days. Recommended, but not to those not really into yandere characters. <<less
