I got involved in a different world summoning of high school students, but since I’m unrelated, I shut myself in the forest. I planned to live my remaining years leisurely, but I seem to be able to use magic for some reason, so I think I will try little harder to live.

Simplistic, plain writing, uneventful, and no character or charm to speak of. It's your standard fluffy slice of life type novel but the author didn't make any attempt to make it interesting or unique.

In Slice of Life, especially in novels, you can't just let cute girls or visual humor carry you, the dialogue has to make up for the lack of eventfulness. A lot of authors seem to forget that slice of life is an inherently boring genre that's lifted up by dialogue and visual humor, and without it, it... more>> is excessively boring and lifeless.

It's not so egregiously bad, nor is it even remotely good. It's just... it exists I guess? Frankly this novel left me with no impressions at all. <<less

Definitely a different take on summoned to other world novels. The main character is a 60 year old lady that was dragged along when others were summoned, not the standard teenager type. The story is still not very far along but on the premise alone its worth at least keeping up with the novel to see how it turns out.

This is a really nice and fluffy novel. It will really warm your heart and hit that soft spot. Our MC is as lovable as she is an innocent sweetheart, and a naive older lady. She also has the tendency to have others worry for her, and her lost demeanor (which is a given that she is new to that summoned world), so they help her out as much as they can. It is off to a great start and I loved every chapter and look forward to more.

This being... more>> said ignore those 1 star votes, because those I feel are extremely unwarranted and most likely from people who rated a story in a genre or niche they didn't like to begin with. <<less

I surprisingly liked this novel. Slow lifes can be hit or miss with me sometimes, but they're mostly misses. This happens to hit a nice little balance of relaxing and awkward cuteness. It's obvious at first glance that Obaa-chan doesn't have a whole lot of experience OUTSIDE of the home anymore, ie on the streets. She lived with her husband in the mountains for quite sometime and then moved in with her son far into her elderly years, so it was unlikely she used money much. In another chapter it's... more>> found that at her cabin in the mountains, there are many people living in the woods around her cabin. All of them were taken in by her at some point or another, taught how to farm, cook, sow, clean ect. Obaa-chan has not experienced much evil directed directly at her, she's only been a 3rd party or heard about it. So her fumbling around in the beginning town is both a little adorable and nerve racking.

This leads into several of the towns people immedietly trying to make sure no one takes advantage of this poor old lady. There is also a kind of strange misconception made, because her outfit is rather highquality around those parts, people think she must be a noble. Which is another reason the guild and tavern bend over backwards to try and make her happy. The only reason I'm explaining this, is because I feel like I alot of people don't understand the MC. Heck someone wrote something about character growth, she's in her freaking 70s, she lived in the mountains raising children and farming. Does anyone actually expect her to even understand a lick of what anyone is talking about? Don't think about your modern day grandma being isekaid, think of a grandma from the 40s being isekaid. Because that's more of the equivilant here. Magic? Magic Beasts? Magic Stones? Mana? What's that? Are they new vegetables? Lol <<less

Pretty decent story.

The way author tells and the story goes is flowing well. The only minus is the pace is super slow. Well maybe because the MC is an obaachan that the pace is slow, although you might get slightly agitated by the obaachan's act and the vanveil's member.

Overall, it fits as the category of slice of life

I would call this adventures of a clueless old lady that keeps promising to learn from her mistakes but never does. Some call it heartwarming but call it lack of any adaptability or common sense due to age? The God was supposed to have rejuvenated her but her mind sure as he'll is't functioning like when she was young. This is definitely not my cup of tea but I will give it a decent review since there isn't anything inherently wrong with it.

It is quite a nice warm fluffy story. Slow pace, funny little moments. However I do have 1 complain about the story, the OP abilities, I don't think this story need it. It is kinda turn me off from the story actually.

Someone please pick this up, I really enjoyed reading it, people really shouldn't try reading genres if they don't like it. Every genre has its negative sides and if that's not to your liking then it's best not to read it. I like slow life stories so slice of life genre is one of my favorites.

My honest opinion is that this is a slow slice of life in which the author can't decide where to put his focus on.

For the moment is about the human relationships of a sometimes sly, sometimes dumb af, but most of the time just stubborn old lady with the people of this different world she was accidentaly summoned to. It also have mandatory food worship. There's no much more than that.

Now to the complains, and keep in mind this is only my opinion. By far, the worst character is the... more>> MC, why? In few words, she refuses to learn, much less comply, with the common sense of this world. So much so, that she puts not only her own life at risk, but the life of the people who try, in vain, to protect her and teach her.

All in all, it's a wholesome story, but it deteriorates over time. <<less

Not entirely bad, but for all slice-of-life stories authors need to realize that there needs to be plot and if there isn't a great plot then the character development needs to be beefed up to make up for the poor plot.

Here we have a plot, sort of. MC is trying to retire to the country side but keeps getting delayed. Nothing sinister happens, we just have frequent breaks and large eating around the campfire moments. MC is powerful and easily does the job of all the guards she hired to... more>> get her to her retirement safely.

So why hire guards? Why retire the MC? Why is the retirement home miles away, why couldn't she retire in the town she was in? If the reader can ask "why" at any point in the story and either be unable to point to something specific or a hint that more is to come then the author has missed a key point in writing his/her story. <<less

it may be a different perspective of the typical isekai novels, but at the same time it is terribly, terribly boring.

Spoiler

it takes 3 chapters to cook a dish or make tea. Literally half of what has been translated so far is her making something or being whiny about ingredients.

The story is filled with a bit of flaws and shit, you can see my nitpicking below

The story is not much to think about, but progression is quite........ (15 days-ish of travelling doesn't wrap-up in 40 chapters, I guess 60)

The character does have some weak building. but up to latest the most developed is not Obaasan who's MC but Ivar from escort team

3 out of 5 for me now

------------------

nitpicking time!

first impression (c1 - c5) ... more>>
Spoiler

- god what the f*ck why you just plainly recreate granny's body as it is? she's a f*cking elder! with bad eye sight and weak body! even you give her magic but how she could use it?

- oh boy at least everyone is nice as hell. maybe because she's elder

- for some reason, she have an unusual knowledge and edge on royalty and noble upon glance, but oblivious on street (still some strange edge on organising herself though, such as thing to do even though she UNEXPECTEDLY DIED FROM SUMMONING days ago)

[collapse]

starting point (c5 - c67) (yes we still doesn't arrived at obasan new home)

Spoiler

- obasan OPness shown! holy s*#t she is truly a golden goose in many ways

- she still oblivious about people! ffs! on top of that she have NO concept about concealing her presence and action (she often using biggest piece of money possible which attract bad guys, the escort ko'd large amount of criminals in one session of market walking)

- oh boy, there we have it. the problems. extremely huge and troublesome one. who said we don't have problem here?

-god what the f*ck (again) you give a lost magic to Koyu-san from the start, now you train her with said magic and REWIND HER AGE for 5 years!

[collapse]

note - am I wrong and weak at english or Shinsori really uses a language that made Koyu-baachan seems younger at talking? <<less
