This is a novel that caught me by surprise. When it first started noone heard of it. Then I started reading it and I couldn't stop. I just love this story and how it builds up. For me it seems different compared to other xianxia stories, but I dont know why. This was like a breath of fresh air. Also the translators busted out chapters like ive neva seen before. I still dream about the christmas releases. I can count on my hand the novels I truly look forward to... more>> and this is one of them. <<less

Amazing, slow start, I will be honest I dropped it but I picked it back up and now can't wait for the two chapters a day which I think is amazing and the translator is doing a brilliant job.

Now my favourite on going novel and it seems to only be getting better.

MC is generally a nice person but isn't a saint so he doesn't overlook those who wrong him. At the same time he isn't so ruthless to destroy everything the person he has conflicts with has without looking back.

Although he has a cheat (something I actually very much enjoy like in WDQK or MGS) it doesn't automatically turn him into an OP protagonist for possessing it. MC has high perception which can explain him being able to obtain things faster but at the same time he still has... more>> to work hard for things because he is in noway a super genius or anything.

Characters in the novel are dynamic and personality traits don't repeat over and over. 'Villains' don't just toss cliche lines and every person isn't just there to curry favors with the MC. Other characters have there own lives and stories that are made clear so even though the MC is the focus it is interesting to see about others as well.

The only downside is the development is slow but even with that I wouldn't really cal it a downside since there isn't any wasted chapters. The only true downside is the fact that the novel and the translations are on the same chapters, so even though the translations are fast don't expect to binge read the entire novel anytime soon :P <<less

this is so f*cking awesome novel. Great development and I could say that this novel is different with other xianxia novel that you can predict what will happen.. MC here is not only focusing on strength but also using his mind. You can say that the story is slow but it's still make you addicted.I dun care if others dont like it but I really love it. For my list, this is second to issth with great character and story development.

He's not the usual arrogant MC and the way his improvements show are very detailed. And opponents are not the usual dumbass like in other stories. Well, maybe except for a select outliers. MC is quite intelligent too. All in all, It is a very satisfying read.

The without a doubt most well built up personality I have read about. Slow start and I dropped it pretty early before revisiting only to get addicted. A horrendous amount of repetition at unnecessary times, but this also gives a very good grasp on all changes. I feel that it's a lacking in describing the surroundings, which can be annoying at when it would be nice to understand the playground at critical junctures. Got a hard on when I finished the series and saw how intense the updates had been... more>> previously, until I saw the translators had caught up with the author. Has this series always followed the releases I the COO? <<less

One of the few rare novels that I can say confidently that it has everything you need in perfect quantity with great quality. Great humor, great battles, very good reasoning, great character development. It doesn't have that excessive bullying that gets annoying, it also doesn't have that excessive arrogance that you get fed up with and stuff never repeats like most xianxia novels tend to do, and the writing itself is very good (and the translation, god bless). This should be the number one novel and clearly deserves much more... more>> attention. The MC is quite refreshing and the novel is very addictive. Even the very few novels that could probably compete with it in my eyes such as desolate era, pale just a bit before it. <<less

I’m extremely happy that this novel is getting more attention these days. ??

It’s a good novel that deserves as much attention as issth.

Slow but brilliant development, smart MC, no stereotypical antagonists, amazing word building, and extremely few plotholes. I love it and the summary doesn’t do it justice.

Yi Yun is awesome. So glad his actions make sense... ?

Rating is five as of 229. ??

One of the most underrated novels here, god bless it got more attention in the past days..
Although the summary seems ordinary, the story is really unique. The slow paced, but really developed and good story got me hooked, this was the first novel where I skipped sleeping to read further. There is this constant feeling where you want to know what will happen, how their situation will change etc.

Has a similarity with ISSTH, the MC's are both smart, not like the brainless MCs that only have KILL in their... more>> mind. He knows when to back up, treasures his family and friends but does not show mercy to his enemies. Try it out, it's defenitly worth the time! <<less

@chapter 204

It’s not reincarnation I think because the MC didn’t die in his previous world just got trapped in cave and got an awesome purple card and use it to get out in cave. When he got out of the cave he became a kid w/ same name as him. The purple card will be the key for him to become strong.

It was a good series, it’s not the same as the most novel that got so many c*cky/arrogant people appear frequently and want to kill the MC but they... more>> were the one who died in the end. Well it’s not I hated that kind of novel tho.

The MC is smart not arrogant at all, even tho it’s not that fast paced atm because it was still on-going and the translator will catch up to the raws I think. I will recommend it to you guys to read it. It won’t waste your time ^^

I gave it 5/5 atm. <<less

Review as of Ch190. Thus far it’s well written (kudos to the translators) and decently paced. The first arc is a decent “you’ll pay for this” story with a satisfying payoff at the end, which is a relief since it’s 130+ chapters by itself. Some might feel it’s too long but at least the chapters has something happening with dialogue and interaction with other characters, and not just endless sections of the MC discovering by himself this treasure or that lucky event that is commonly seen in other novels. The... more>> second arc (135 onwards) involves the usual “MC goes into new place, shocks people who looked down on him, starts powering up” phase, so it’s still too early to tell whether the story would improve here on. At least there isn’t a harem involved (yet).

On a side note, as of Ch.228 the translation is so fast that it has actually caught up with the raws, and due to its popularity and support you can expect regular translations. <<less

Nice MC, smart villain, good world building last but not least detailed MC's techniques which is in xianxa story usually too much nonsense or too profound (too hard to make an image in the head)

edit: I should have realized that this novel is just another chinese web novel.

Ok this story got really awesome about 80 chapters in, it was good before but it felt more like a long intro to the world, power systems and social norms I guess. It wasn't boring there was a good progression and a villain that was actually a challenge to the MC. I'm 159 chapters in and I love the expansion of this story from the world building to the martial arts. Definitely recommend 5/5.

current chapter 157

going in to this novel I wasn’t expecting much. I had heard good reviews from the forums but I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I enjoy it.

This xianxia follows the travel of Yi Yun, who finds a divine treasure (on earth) and is transported to a world of martial arts. We learn the world Yi Yun is in as he learns.

What I like about this novel is the fact that people know that the place they are currently residing in is not some high... more>> realm, instead they are vary of the fact that through martial arts they can climb to the top of the world but the top is still very far away.

The characters are also great. Yi Yun as a character is smart, he understands where his strength lies and when he should fight and when he shouldn’t. The other characters we are introduced to is a potential love interest (which seems pretty obvious she is going to be his girl friend) and the MC is sister. I like the love interest, so far she is much better than the other dense girls we are shown in xianxias. We know a little about her but we have not been given her life story, only a little problem she goes through. But I predict we will get to know more about the love interest as the story goes on. So yes there will be romance in the future (by the way it looks, they may just stay friends, but I highly they won’t become a couple). As for the third major character, the mc’s (step) sister she is an amazing big sister with a mysterious past. We are told bits and pieces about her, but just like the MC love interest we will find out more about her as the MC gains power.

As for the villains we have been introduced to (which is only 1 major villain currently) he is a great villain. One of the very few villains in a xianxia that I have somewhat sympathized with, I understand his pain and why he does the things he does. Even though they are not good things.

The pacing of the story is good. I read some reviews that say that the pacing is bad, which is not really true. The story moves along fast, but what keeps the audience reading for a little longer is the explanations. Which I don’t really mind I rather have a good explanation of things than going “huh? Wait, what happened there”.

The best thing about this novel is the translation speed. The translators translate really fast they don’t have a set amount of chapters they translate per day but sometimes it can 5 or 3 maybe even higher than that. So big props to them.

Conclusion: This novel is a great read, something everyone of the xianxia fan base should give at least a try. It may have the format of normal xianxias but the story and characters are much better than the average xianxia. <<less

Reviewed at 157 chapters and rated 5.

True Martial World is a very satisfying read. The pace is a bit slow, but the plot is consistently going forward instead of circling back-and-forth. Not many needless fights here, although the MC isn't someone who hid his strength and doesn't avoid battle when necessary. There are cliches like finding lucky item or fortuitous meeting, but the MC himself is clearly working hard with his mind and physique to survive, be stronger, and gain better standing in the new world. What's still lacking is... more>> character development for supporting characters, and some plot twists or hooks to make the story more memorable. So far though, without all that, it's already good enough. <<less

If I regret wasting my time reading almost 1k chapters of a novel then this is it. Don't bother with it as neither did the author treat it srsly

It's full of plotholes and filler arcs spanning over 100 chapters. In contrast many vital things are skimped over or not even explored in the novel.

Author builds up a story frame for 500 chapters just to abandon it in a wreckage.

Absolutely written for pure money milking purposes of MW fans. Suck a d*ck author. Cheers

How good is this novel?? Extremely good

Is it a masterpiece? Definitely!

From the first chapter to the finale every page was like an emotional rollercoaster.. it was that good.

... more>> You would really appreciate the novel if you started with Martial World.

When Yi Yun met Divine Dream, I just knew I would soon hear about my boy Lin Ming.

I always complained about novels that made the MC meet fairies and young masters that were arrogant but TMW made it so interesting... Having only one woman he loved was the best thing the author did in my opinion and it paid off.

Can't really decide who I like most in Lin Ming and Yi Yun anymore😮‍💨

If you haven't read it you've got to. 5 stars🔥 <<less

This novel wasn't half as bad as described in the other comments, but I do recommend Martial World to this one. The thing is that in this novel, the MC isn't OP because of him, but because of his items/cultivation methods. You might say that it's the case for every novel out there, right ? Well, it's not really the same: at the beginning of the story, MC gets an OP sword,

Spoiler

to be discovered further in the novel that it was the weapon of a godly monarch (True divinity). Later, he gets the cultivation of the most powerful person of the multiverse. Continuing his journey, he gets a total of 4 godly monarch items before even being a divine lord.

[collapse]

All this make me feel like MC is OP because of his items, not because of himself (and he obviously uses them at every fight).

Also, the author implements a lot of future plots that are completely forgotten later on. Social relations are also pretty badly written: MC is separated with his companions but only meet them up at least 400 chapters later.

Of course, it's not a bad novel, the writing still is pretty good and the story interesting with twists and turns. Inferior to Martial World, but nonetheless worth 3.5/5 for me. <<less

All I have to say is this novel is the same rinse repeat walking piece of bullsh*t I have seen in like 4 different novels I thought this one was gonna be a beautiful new cool unique story with unique fighting scenes that dont involve a bullsh*t basic ass palm strike It's always the beginning of the novel that tricks you into these great dynamic fighting scenes then "peerless experts come along" and they take anything unique and shove it up your ass with basic ass palm strikes that either... more>> kill whoever gets hit by it or gets "severly injured" I liked the direction the novel was going In I love a story with humans fighting giant behemoths and I like life or death scenarios but then chapter 360 came along and its the same 10 "experts" come along and they all have the same exact personality as every other nameless "expert" I'm just gonna save my disappointment and drop it now I got into novels from versatile mage, battle frenzy, tempest of the battle field, tempest of the stellar war these stories were all great specifically versatile mage, and tempest of the battle field although versatile mage is a basic magic highschool basis it's world and characters make up for its basic setting in spades. Tempest of the battle field having the most unique battle system and great characters. All these novels had something unique in them and I finished all of them so I wanted more cool unique stories I turned to many novels and sadly I got exposed to the most contagious disease of all time "peerless expert, giant palm strike, spatial fluctations" these are just a few symptoms of cliche ret*rded wuxia virus Novels trap you with a great introduction with cool fairly unique fights then you get exposed to palm strike after palm strke, after palm strike and you realize the author is copying the exact same bullsh*t 10000 other authors have done already the wuxia category has many unique stories then theres about 100 copies of this novel with different protagonists I don't think authors are this ret*rded to not come up with original ideas for worlds I'm also tired of the same mysterious artifact gives MC bullsh*t power I'm fine with isekais but they need to have uniqueness honestly f*ck every author that willingly makes novels with the same peerless expert teleports to enemy enemy is like no please peerless expert does palm strike enemy is dead I'm tired of authors using palm strikes in their fights unless its more technique based palm strikes f*ck the wuxia genre the few good authors are drowned out by these ret*rded authors that can't come up with original ideas <<less

I rather liked it. To be clear, while it's in the same multiverse as Martial World, it can be read as a stand-alone. MW's main character is in the distant past of True Martial World, but he may as well be some ancient master.

There are similarities in style, but I actually liked TMW better -- it's a bit smaller (although still huge, 2.9 million words), a bit tighter (fewer arcs), and generally has fewer overwrought crises -- although it still has a few. It's what I consider to be classic... more>> Xianxia -- a weak boy of mediocre talent becomes god, with the help of enormous (but not consistent) luck and unswerving persistence. There is a pattern of slowly becoming stronger, getting recognized as a local power; then encountering an environment where the new strength is barely passable and needing to grow again. There are several common plot elements in this novel, but there were not overdone.

Spoiler

There is no harem. Several likely females, but the main character meets his partner early on, and keeps true to her for the rest of the novel.

[collapse]

There are a few unanswered questions remaining at the end, but the novel makes a very credible effort at closing all outstanding conflicts and loose threads; a better than average conclusion for these types of novels. <<less
