There is nothing very stellar about this fic.

You got a MC who turns into a major simp who can only speak 'I apologize' every other sentence. The MC is practically a cardboard cutout as the interactions he's in are usually one sentence long with him going full on simp mode for the Saint.

He also makes a few oaths with one 'I'll make the saint the best saint in the world'. Like how tf is he going to do that? Are there other religions out in this world? If so then... more>> this adds to the lack of world building I've noticed.

Hell, we don't know anything concrete about the planet as a whole.

So far there is at least 4 organizations who abused the saint in the first timeline, yet none of them are developed beyond the 2 fight scenes we had with them, but instead we are introduced to the seven primordial beings who are also pushed into the foreground.

Why would you do this? Is the author simply writing whatever comes to mind at this point?

I've read 70chps out of the 280chps.

And so far there is nothing of subsistence to make a dynamic world. We are just given a random fact of the blue which is then forgotten. Leaving no reason for it to be mentioned in the first place.

Hell, the demon king was mentioned in the first chapter. However, there is no plans or thoughts on this matter. The demon king seems to be a none issue even though the saint lost her powers right after killing it.

Anway, we get a decade worth of timeskips as our MC becomes more OP.... though it is nothing worth of note. The powerup is the sole thing done during this time as the author ignores building upon the interactions with the other apostles, ignores the four organizations completely and has the MC's mentality remain consistent through these years.

Honestly everyone praises this work for being a great romance fic. However, a one sided relationship with the abrupt timeskips/dialogue shows this novel in a radically different light. (*Cough* tr*sh)

The fic is a third of the way through, and it is just now branching off into the other kingdoms. Into the elf kingdom as a matter of fact, which is one of birthplaces of the four heroes. Yet, we just left the holy kingdom on the back burner like another throw away plot point... which the elf kingdom follows shortly after as it too isn't defined in a meaningful manner.

The author simply refuses to flesh things out. Focusing more on time skips to avoid writing an engaging/interactive story.

So yeah, there is a lot of nonsensical information brought up which doesn't build a good scenery. It is a dialogue driven story... with a MC who only parrots 'I apologise.' one liners... Nothing introduced is built up to be worth a damn. There is no urgency at all when it comes to our MC who has knowledge of the future concerning the Demon King and the Holy Emperor's death (his mentor).

To conclude,

At first the fic seems like a good read. The MC kills people and has a semi sad backstory. However, when you go into depth, you realize there is nothing of substance, a big old nothing burger.

Everyone is a cardboard cutout besides for the Saint and our MC refuses to grow up into a person after all these years. Instead he remains as a simple yes man to the saint, a robot who can't even plan for the future. Even after these annoying info dumps... how am I supposed to take the MC seriously when he acts nothing like the big bad evil who controlled half of the world in his first life?

It is simply too big of a difference between his actions and what we're told. The author simply can't write such a character as the author's inexperience shows in his work.

Like sure you can argue my point. I can understand, but when the time skips are used solely for power ups, the shallow story telling becomes way too blatant to deny.

The MC is an idiot, plain and simple. An edgy japanese teenager who's antisocial to the extreme.

Overall: critical development periods are skipped through decade long lapses, the MC magically powers up but still is in the same power tier and the world building is left in the dust. It takes over 70chps to flesh out one critical event mentioned in an off handed remark. However, we still have the four organizations, three more heroes, the seven primordial beings, the gods and their god realm along with the freaking Demon King who has not been mentioned whatsoever.

All of this has to be done in the remaining 200 chapters... which is simply impossible with how the story has been written so far.

However, I could've pushed on despite all of this if the MC wasn't so much of a beta. A horrible male lead to take up the role of carrying this story to its conclusion.

'I apologize. I apologize. I apologize.' The MC continues to repeat. 'I apologize. I apologize. I apologize.'

Get used to reading this a thousand times. Its literally the sole thing our MC can and will say despite everyone in the book telling him to stfu. Whenever someone tries to engage in a talk with him, the MC continues to parrot this sentence as he can't think for himself. A big bad evil man is like a toddler in this second life. Can't believe he even got so far in his first while acting like this tbh.

And yet his character stalls in place never developing with his second chance. He allows everyone to make misinterpretations about him and rages over it like a salty child, however, he isn't man enough to try to fix his public image. Instead he would rather fume in solitude over his own inadequacy which makes him look like a big fat hypocrite.

Anyway, that is enough with my rant. The MC is a simp, the power levels are nonexistent, too many things are introduced then forgotten, there is no sense of urgency and no action on the MCs part to engage with the plot. He chooses to suffer and play passive going with the flow of events. Allowing the world to dictate his actions and not the other way around.

He is simply a bystander in this second life of his. A being who can be cut out of the story without affecting it whatsoever. A useless person in the grand scheme of things. Someone better left dead in the slums.

Rate 3.6/5 - only for the great translations and semi okay (one sided) romance. <<less

I've read the raw version ahead, I don't know who put the "Slice of Life" here but I am removing it it. The novel definitely had a plot, it will be centered around Ancient Species and the mystery of regression. Also for the "Comedy" tag I'm not sure if it's correct here, if you talk about interaction between Vera and Renee it's more like sweet-emotional romance devolement instead of "Humorous interactions", sure there are some funny interaction between the apostles, but there aren't many of it, if compared to a... more>> real "Comedy" novel it's very lacking. <<less

Regressor and the Blind Saint is a breath of fresh air compared to other novels translated by GenesisTls. It's a beautifully wholesome story that focuses on the heartwarming romance between the male protagonist and the female saint.

After regressing back in time, the protagonist dedicates himself to atoning for his past misdeeds and protecting the blind saintess who changed his life. Their relationship is touching and sincere, with both characters undergoing meaningful growth together.

The saintess especially shines as a strong yet kind-hearted heroine. She confidently pursues the protagonist after falling for... more>> him, using playful feminine wiles to get through his stubbornness. Her antics when jealous are also cute and humanizing.

Meanwhile, the male lead evolves from a selfish person to someone earnestly trying to be good enough for his loved one. His inner struggles are portrayed empathetically as he balances his desire to shield the saintess with supporting her independence.

Compared to the problematic relationships and unethical content in some other GenesisTls translations, Regressor and the Blind Saint stands out for its wholesome and uplifting romantic story. There's no twisted villains or grim mind games here. Just two endearing lead characters overcoming challenges together on their journey to love.

With solid side characters, an immersive fantasy setting, and hints of a deeper plot, Regressor and the Blind Saint has all the makings of an engaging read for romance lovers. It seems Regressor and the Blind Saint offers an unconventional approach to the regression/reincarnation genre by focusing heavily on romance and character development.

The prologue and opening chapters take time to establish the male protagonist's background and internal motivations, which some may find slow, but lays the groundwork for his growth. It's refreshing to see a novel spend time shaping the regressor beyond the usual tropes.

Firstly I would like to tell you people that I've read 30+ chapters and I'm not writing this out of no where. I'd like to think that this novel is a masterpiece that everyone should try at least once. Every single chapter is marvelous and interesting in its own right. The characters personalities are fleshed out and don't feel like machines. The humour in the novel is good. The MC (vera) is strong but is not the strongest being and gets stronger every chapter. The MC is a regressor, And... more>> the plot revolves around his regression. He has a clear motive to become stronger and its not for his self satisfaction, I liked that point a lot. The MC is a sigma. Also I would like to mention that our MC is not into kids. The rom com part is good and I can see how this will turn more and more entertaining in the future. This is a Must read!!!. You should really check out the illustrations they are really good, It may increase your interest in reading the novel. <<less

Prologue was everything I wanted in a dark fantasy setting with romance. It was perfectly suited to my taste, and the dialogue and writing for Vera's inner emotional turmoil was so well done. I was completely captivated by Renee and I genuinely wished the premise wasn't regression. In the second life, I couldn't find the same quality as the prologue. The development of the leads is good, but Renee is now a young girl and immature. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her, but I really don't enjoy a romance... more>> where one of them is mentally adult and basically seeing their love interest grow up from a young age. It's definitely done more tastefully here than other regression stories.

Another thing is that the MC was too bland for my taste. He has little to no sense of humor, and I expected a little more personality and interesting old habits from his past life experience. The only thing I remember off the top of my head was his interest in swords. However, his overall ruthlessness and selfishness was done well and was the main point of his development from what I saw.

Overall, I respect the author and believe they are capable of writing great stuff, but this novel did not suit my taste. I'm really looking forward to reading Heaven Slaying Sword whenever that starts getting translated as it doesn't seem to have regression romance or age gap and the premise seemed very interesting. The only thing that would make it or break it is the personality of the leads. <<less

The low reviews are too harsh, and it's not like they have read the novel in its entirety anyway.

The leads are literal teenagers/young adults who know nothing about the world or people or even their own selves.

Despite that, they are thrust into the eye of the storm with nothing but their own abilities and beliefs, left to figure out things on their own.

... more>> The reason why there are several chapters that readers might find cringe or annoying is because the author takes their time in unfurling the leads' growth.

Personally, I think the author is just trying to hit the daily word count quota, but at least they do it in a way that's engaging.

We get dialogues and thought processes rather than chunks of text that explain things to us.

I don't like the Saint that much because the author virtue-signals a lot through her character.

The author has a fluid way of exploring ideas and building up to realizations, but there's a lot of implied "it should be like this" or "this is wrong" blah blah.

That's not my type but I can't say that it's a drag because the author lets the characters come into these realizations by themselves, instead of just bombarding the readers with paragraphs about philosophy or what.

The world-building itself has a lot of tropes and cliches common to this genre, but it's presented in unique ways that engage the readers.

Overall, the novel is still pretty good. Not something I would binge-read but will definitely check out from time to time. <<less

The story revolved around Renee the saint and vera her self proclaimed knight, the world building is really good if you like good world building, and the characters personality is really well made and the comedy and romance doesn't feel forced. And you also have a grandpa dilf called vargo now for the pros and cons

The saint are just a b*tch, do not trust those people that give this novel 5 star like, no character on this novel are close to the word likable, they're just insufferable.

This novel have one of if not THE best opening to a story, and yet the author just seem to f*ck everything up, I really just wish that bit*h of a saint just die, she literally have 0 purposes on the story, she's so toxic to Vera, she's so toxic to everyone, saint my ass she's just a who*e... more>> wanting to find nearest rod to use.

If you want to read this novel just read it until before they go to the elf forest because whatever is after that the author just seem to f*ck the story up.

One of the best opening chapters I have ever read. The dialogue is well written and the MC's journey to realise his purpose is so philosophical and introspective that I found myself questioning the concept of faith and belief. It is in these moments that I can only describe as beautiful.

I was a bit disappointed after the beginning story in the ML as he seems to have turned into an NPC, as his personality seems to have dulled to a simp (?) Almost as dull as the two brothers in... more>> terms of dialogue which is sad cause he is a regressor who has lived a whole life so you would think there would be some parts of his dialogue that displays his wisdom and ruthlessness. (Kind of like Hamel from Damn Reincarnation).

But the chapters seem to be in the early stages, so I will continue reading and hope the ML becomes less 2D. I would probably drop it if hes just going to be like that the whole time. But I would still highly recommend for people to read this even if its just the earlier parts (before he meets the saint) because it is honestly beautiful and you as a reader will find yourself at odds with your own belief. <<less

The first four chapters are incredible, like one of the best introductions to a regressor plot + romantic dynamic I've ever seen in a web novel. Everything after that, so far (33 chapters), is not as good but still good. That being said it is only 33 chapters in so its too soon to come to such a conclusion, and there have still been some very good moments outside those first 4 chapters. Definitely recommend that people pick this one up.

the worldbuilding is so frickin good, its a world with a huge church so its slightly based on religions and the main character is such a chad.

in his last moments he was helped by a blind saint and decided do dedicate his life to her after he regressed.

... more>> we explore his journey as he comes to terms with the sins he committed and he tries to atone for them by living for the saint.

their interactions are so wholesome its even better than snu snu.

no snu snu as far as I am aware.

Pros:

GigaChad MC.

Top tier female lead.

Amazing World building.

Best romance on NU.

Cons:

the chapters after he regressed before he met the saint again were a bit of a slog for me but once they met up it was fire. <<less

For what it is, it’s pretty good and I enjoyed the first 100-130 chapters quite a bit. However it gets pretty repetitive feeling by chapter 200. A lot of the setups begin to feel similar and the character growth stagnates. Tropes (such as the FMC misunderstanding every woman that talks with MC) get old and detract from the story after the nth use.

Tl:dr - it’s good at first, but doesn’t really grow that well. 4.0 for the first part being good.

I just caught up with the TLs.

This is probably the best KR novel I've read. All the popular novels on this website have a similar trope of an evil guy that redeems themselves, but this one hits the hardest since he doesn't tell anyone about his past life, just tries his best to make Renee happy in this life. In his past life, he was pretty much the worst slumlord, scum, had power but only used it for himself. Then he got saved by the Saint at his deathbed, and almost recovered, but she died in the slums before she could come back to feed him. Then he finally used his power for good and oathed that he would protect her in the next life.

However, Renee in the next life mistakes his oath for love, and most of the early chapters are centered on Renee trying to convey her feelings of love. Then she reaches 18 and goes on a trip where MC accompanies her, and that's where we get small tidbits of the ex-slumlord's dark past, and how he is going to resolve all the incoherences brought by him killing many Demon generals ahead of time. I am most interested in the worldbuilding and how everything ties together.

I recently started reading Regressor and the Blind Saint, the novel has blown me away. I am not usually a fan of romance novels, but I believe Blind Saint is novel that is written masterfully and makes full use of its interesting cast of characters. For example, the male lead's experiences from his past life carry over and have an impact on the story. He is willing to do anything to make sure the FMC is happy and his clear goal and relentless drive to make things right for the... more>> FMC keeps the reader engaged throughout the story.

The Saint is also a complex character and lovable character, the author properly develops her and uses her masterfully throughout the story. The author showed a good understanding of the characters and used them effectively throughout the story. For example, the saint's losing her sight is a heart-wrenching moment. The saint is also a character with flaws, she often misunderstands thing and if the author had overused it this would have quickly become stale. The author, however, manages to strike a perfect balance and has enough too keep the story engaging without overusing it.

This review has raved on about beautifully written chapters, engaging character interactions and heartfelt romance. However, if you were to start reading you may find that the story drags on, and that much I have to agree; many parts of the beginning feel dull and monotonous, and the pace of the story is at times painfully slow. Though the story may feel slow-paced and monotonous in the beginning, it serves an important purpose in establishing the characters and their personalities, making the touching moments between them more impactful. If you're a fan of romance, I highly recommend giving this novel a go. Even if the beginning part seems a little dull, it's worth pushing through. <<less

Regressor and the Blind Saint has been a refreshing Novel for me to read, it ticks a lot of the things I look for in a Romance Novel and does them well.

Firstly, the MC, I love how his experience in the last moments with the FMC in his previous life affected him so much that in his life after regression he starts trying to change himself just so he could be able to stand proudly by her side and protect her. I kind of resonate with that and it's extremely... more>> enjoyable to see him going in the right direction.

And the FMC is loveable too, she's slightly infuriating because she misunderstands a lot but thankfully most of her misunderstandings are harmless and they are quickly settled thanks to the MC just being an absolute unit. Outside of that, she is a really interesting and fun character to read about what she does.

The Story is simple and seems to be working toward an overarching plot with mysteries, conflict, and such sprinkled throughout the chapters but more importantly, it's a lot of the two character's interactions with each other that makes your heart squeeze at just how sweet it is sometimes.

I don't read many stories with Romance as the main focus (especially Korean ones) but this one has been a really good read and I think I'll continue reading it. I'd recommend reading it too even if the part immediately after the MC's regression seems a little slow or dull, if you manage to get through that part, I think any Romance enjoyer will have a great time. <<less

The concept is something I've been looking for. A story about some who will dedicate themselves with utmost sincerity to another person. A story about a guardian knight. So far, I've enjoyed it. I can overlook the fact that I dislike the MC's personality a little (it seems kinda like the generic kr novel protag with jut a bit more sincerity added on top) because there is promise of character growth. I hope he fulfills his conviction to protect.

Also TL, you don't need to edit anything else, just please use... more>> past tense. I've returned to this site after a few months and the random present tense sprinkled around makes me wanna ff. <<less

At first glance, The Regressor and the Blind Saint may seem like just another generic fantasy romance, but it quickly subverted my expectations. Our protagonist undergoes tremendous growth, transforming from a selfish and cruel man into a devoted companion willing to sacrifice anything for his saintess. Their bond formed through coincidence, hardship, and understanding truly tugged at my heartstrings.

The regressing plot allows us to experience two sides of the main character - his original flawed self and the better man he becomes when given a second chance. It's refreshing to... more>> see genuine redemption. And the saintess is far from a damsel in distress or bland love interest. She's strong-willed, intelligent, and proactive in chasing after what she desires.

While the story focuses heavily on the central pair, side characters add color to the world. Action scenes deliver excitement without the protagonist seeming overpowered. And the slow burn romance is worth the wait for real relationship development.

The Regressor and the Blind Saint breathes life into tired tropes. Quality writing and translations further enhance the reading experience. If you enjoy heartwarming second chance romance and watching genuine bonds grow, give this gem a read. I'm eagerly awaiting future translated chapters. <<less

For me the start of this novel was the best part and what made me interested on it. Although, I have to say that after the end of the prologue I felt a little dissapointed because of good the first few chapters were and the sudden change from the prologue and the start of the novel.

One thing I kind of dislike of the story is how the romance of the novel is kind of lacking or takes so much time to start. If you started reading this novel because of... more>> the romance, you should be aware that the first 100 chapters or so are pretty action heavy with some romance chapters inbetween. But after that it seems to focus in the romance aspects and in the relationship between the two main characters.

In my opinion this a good novel for those who don't mind a slow romance with action. The chapters may be kind of episodic, but the story also moves forward with the chapters. <<less
