Dropped when Su Yi casually sentenced a defeated female opponent to a life of s*x s*avery to please one of the dudes sucking up to him.

Before that, pretty so-so. A lot of talking about how much Su Yi looks down on all the people, martial arts, spiritual treasures, architecture, etc that he encounters, because he's always seen something 'better'. I personally don't find this an appealing character trait, but YMMV. The main formula is: Su Yi plans to do something, a bunch of people jump up to laugh at him... more>> for a while, then he does the thing, kills some of the people who offended him, lets some go, and the rest join his horde of suck-ups. He chooses followers based on how good they are at pleasing him, rather than for being moral, talented, or even likable. However, it's somewhat rare to see a protagonist who is willing to let people who've insulted them go at all. <<less

I have read about 1000+ chapter of this novel... and let me keep this review a very short one because it's a pretty generic novel just like the 50 other cultivation novels I have read. So U already know I am no new to this cultivation shit... but surprisingly this novel really stood out to me well for the first few 100 chapters that is...I liked the MC's boastfulness and his badass way of dealing with the enemies and the story too was going on in a very interesting way...... more>> BUT all of that went to the abyss and stayed there the moment we start world hopping... The story becomes incredibly monotonous... and the way the MC deals with his love interests will make u hate him.... All in all while he is adventuring in the Azure Continent U will love everything about him and the story but after that it's all shit.!!! <<less

At first it seemed interesting, but what basically kept me reading the novel was how the MC was going to deal with his arranged marriage. After that I could not be bothered to continue reading it.

The translation quality is really good btw, so that's a plus to read this. But what really bothers me about this novel is that the powerhouses of the world understimate this dude waay too much, every new young master he faces or new sect continues underestimating him again and again. At first it's okay but... more>> when every arc consist of the same. MC encounters young master, young master underestimates him, young master dies. Father of young master underestimates him, dies.... Rinse and repeat.

This novel is really similar to ED (Emperor's domination) Just that ED was much more interesting in terms of worldbuilding and misteries. This novel is really, really generic which little to nothing to look forward to. If you like MC slapping Ignorant kid asses then this novel may be for you, it's a junk novel. You can read it then drop it, but beware that there's nothing interesting other than MC getting revenge and his dealing with his waifus.

I gave it 3/5 because while it was certainly not a good novel, it's not that bad either. It's just that it clearly has nothing good going for it, other than wish fullfilment. <<less

From the same author of Talisman Emperor. It's about a powerhouse who died and reincarnated into a tr*sh, with the usual ingredients: from genius to tr*sh due to mysterious circumstance, engagement to a genius beauty with a disapproving family, hostile family members due to clan politics, unexplainable OP-ness where even as rank one the MC can beat a grandmaster, and so on.

Spoiler

Did you read Talisman Emperor? I did. It was mediocre but I finished it. This one is worse than TE. In TE the MC was mostly an emotionless cold fish, except for a few occasions where his family or sect brothers and sisters are involved.

The MC in this novel is even worse, he's a "Fallen Immortal" and shown even less emotions since he basically has no attachment. That makes the MC doesn't feel like a living breathing human. Immortality is not a personality! Shii even the gods and demons in Chinese myths still retain their personalities, so why did these modern Xianxia and Xuanhuan authors think that immortality = no emotions, cold and aloof?

I kept waiting for his family revenge arc, since that's probably where he's going to show his human side, but the author is too busy throwing slapable young masters and mistress at the MC instead of moving the plot forward. Oh, the young masters... so many young masters.

It usually goes something like this. MC meets young master (YM) A and B. A is beyond redemption so MC killed him, while B despite initially looking down on MC perhaps even insulted him, still forgivable. So the MC does something impressive, wins YM B over and turns him and his faction into followers/admirers. MC then meets YM C and D who both starting to call him tr*sh, but then B and his faction come respect the sh*t out of MC shocking both C and D and makes them wonder about MC's background. C stays evil and eventually gets killed while D turns into MC's follower. Then MC meets YM E and F who call him tr*sh but then D comes and respect the sh*t out of MC, shocking both E and F... and rinse and repeat. I kid you not, 100+ chapters in and this exact sh*t happens 5 times.

There are so many stories to tell but the author is more interested in word count. Also the MC's sycophants are giving me second hand embarrassment. Too much d*ck stroking.

I'm not trying to be overly negative, here. This might become amazing later on, after the plot is moving forward. But it takes too long and I'm not waiting. On hold for a while, might read again later.

PS: I noticed that many fellow readers often refer the MC as mu*der hobo and his mu*derous hobo adventure, which is actually quite accurate. It's curious how an 108.000 year old man apparently only know how to solve problems using violence and massacre. The author actually tried to reason this by... you've guessed it, "dao heart" or some shit.

Let me say this in the beginning - this is a junk-food type novel. That means it has young masters, jade beauties, "Junior, you dare?!", and all the other bullshit. However, in my opinion, this novel is the best of its type. This is due to one major reason - the MC. He is the best thing in this novel and the best of all the cultivation-type novel MCs. If I had to describe him, he is the better version of Li Qiye from Emperor's Domination without all that long-winded... more>> unnecessary crap. Also, the fact that other people do not underestimate him too much and there are actually people who are not jade-beauties who think he is special may add to this novel's charm. As he was the strongest in his world before he reincarnated, there are people who will recognize his past identity, again similar to Li Qiye. <<less

It's a great novel. While a bit generic, the characters have their own personality and aren't just puppets. The side characters aren't blind, fearless idiots. The MC isn't a mu*der hobo that kills for looking at him. He acts like you would expect an old monster that has seen everything would. Also he isn't suddenly interested in teenage girls that haven't lived even a fraction of his life. This novel has a lot of potential, I hope it continues to be this good.

Generic super op reincarnation story. Setting as the live in son in law and the good relationship with the step sister gave me deja vu so bad I was doing a triple take trying to check if I read this story already. Fine for what it is in the first arc. There's a hated enemy to get revenge on, drama with the arranged marriage, a love interest he gets around to sleeping with. After he gets the revenge around ch ~300 the setting and characters have basically exhausted themselves. The... more>> tropes go from sort of fun to boring and futile. An endless conveyor belt of faceless characters that sort themselves into licking the MCs boots and getting the magic wand waved over them or offending him and getting their heads cut off. These super op stories really tire themselves out, nothing matters, no suspense. MC is bored by everything going on? Can't be bothered to care about any of the useless enemies? Same here. <<less

Pros:

The MC is absulutely overpowered like a 180K year old cultivator should be, which I think is cool. Beats his enemies with decisive victories.

Cons:

... more>> Su Yi feels like a teenager who constantly makes an ass of himself to look cool.

For someone who is supposed to be an 180K year olf cultivator, they sure spend a lot of time describing how he is extremely lazy, which seems extremely backwards for the strongest cultivator?

People keep talking about how he pretends to be aloof, but actually has bone deep pride, which really just seems like emotional immaturity to me?

The story describes him as if he is supposed to be very benevolent leader, but he let multiple people work for him after trying to kill him. Then, there is an entire chapter of a guy laying down their life to try to repent for accidently implicating him and Su Yi just watches and is going to let him die until the enemies just happen to attack him first. Su Yi continues to be rude to the guy next time he sees him. It just feels whimsical to do whatever will make him look cool in the moment

An excessive amount of stockholm syndrome gushing from a girl Su Yi forces to be his servant. It is so cringe

Su Yi claims he doesn't want to bother with conflicts, but 90% of the issues are because he plays catch and release with the villains and sometimes add that they shouldn't get their backers implicated, and they always, always do.

Even though it is extremely obvious that Su Yi is going to help, he always acts.

This story just feels like it is descending into cringe at this point. I just wanna see the arc of Su Yi and his wife wrap up so I can slap this story in the 'average' folder and not pick it up again for 3 years. <<less

It was fun for a little while, but becomes too formulaic and has too much filler. Like another reviewer mentioned, sentencing a defeated female enemy to a life of being a s*x sl*ve really put me off the novel. The novel really became unreadable though when the author had to write 2-4 chapters of fillers for every scene. I liked the romance, at chapter 366 so far he's only in a romantic relationship with 1 person, so I haven't see the harem part. I'll probably continue reading until I reach... more>> the harem part, but I also want to see how he will resolve his past life grievances, but at this pace that would probably be like chapter 2000 or chapter 3000. Which would be fine if the story had any substance, but like others mentioned, most of the story is just useless characters doing the talking.

-1 point for filler/peanut gallery/cliche tropes/pacing

-1 point for frustration on MC's actions on conflict resolutions. <<less

Good read. MC has no edginess or random bs where villains stay alive for hundreds of chapters because of illogical mistakes. MC is not 'terrified' like in other reincarnation novels to share secrets and knowledge with other people which already makes this 5-stars for real veterans of the genre. It will pass time while you stack a different novel.

I’ve always wanted to see what would happen if my MC dealt with their antagonists decisively instead of giving them endless chances and I was given that with this novel. any one who gave our MC troubles was dealt with immediately. He doesn’t believe in letting people live to cause trouble down the line. Now this all good and dandy but after reading over 500 chapters of this even I’m tired of the OP ness.. I’m tired of seeing countless of cannon fodder die. At this point I’m looking forward... more>> to seeing him defeated or at least stop killing people. The highest tension of the story was when he was going to go challenge his father. After the Su Clan drama was resolved, the story’s just dragging along... there’s the dark restrictions drama that’s yet to happen but all I can think of is if he kills all the strong ppl, who’ll be there to help defend azure continent once we get to there. 😮‍💨

but it is a fun story. The MC is like able and I don’t mind the harem <<less

Of all reincarnated MC this is the best of all that I've read so far. His skills are readily available as his cultivation progress no need to re cultivate secret arts in his past life. His contemptuous lazy trait made it interesting that make sense to reincarnated who reach apex in past. Always take a sip wine on his gourd in his relaxation or even in fights. Beats enemy with ease rarely got wounded, and not masochist in cultivation. Enemy or antagonist young master got distinct traits not like all... more>> lustful beast when beaten bring up their background. Author tried not make repetitive but it's unavoidable as it is long 3k+ chapters like fMC or lover needs saving like damsel in distress before reuniting with MC. Its very cliche/generic. But all in all this novel is not tr*sh and is worth reading got good translation and some literatures, idioms and cultures. <<less
