My Husband is Suffering from a Terminal Illness

Xie Yang struggled in the post-apocalyptic world for many years until he was too tired to go on. Then he transmigrated into a young adult entertainment circle novel where the protagonists have easy, sweet, and satisfying lives.

The male protagonist of the novel is not just handsome and smart, he’s also reborn. The female protagonist of the novel is not only beautiful and works hard towards her dreams, she also has a cheat in her hands.

There’s a lot of male and female supporting roles, each having pretty face, nice figures and someone strong behind them. Get into any one of their bodies, and he could close his eyes and just enjoy life. But he didn’t. Instead he transmigrated into a young idol secretly married to the biggest villain of all — the male protagonist’s maternal uncle.

His title is husband but it’s more like a nurse. Because this novel’s biggest villain is a terminally ill patient who is gloomy and sick in the head (actually sick). Their marriage was to counter the bad luck (illness).

Xie Yang: Who cares if you’re the male lead, female lead, male supporting, female supporting, villain or protagonist. Get in the way of my comfortable life and you’ll die (:

Let me tell you... I adore this novel, specifically the two main leads. The MC is smart, calculating but not ruthless despite coming from a apocalypse world where killing should be normal. He is also very caring and supportive towards the ML, working until exhaustion just to make the recovery process easier for the ML.

The ML in turn, despite being a tsundere, loves and cares for the MC just as much. You see how much he cares about the MC whenever the younger gets sick or faces any danger. I'm... more>> honestly envious of their love.

Their relationship progress was satisfying to watch. It wasn't too fast nor too abrupt, but just right.

While the plot itself has a very generic setting it doesn't get boring. And yeah, I didn't expect a mystery/crime thriller development. That was quite a nice twist.

As for plot holes... I didn't notice any. But then again, I never look for them anyway and only notice them when they basically jump at me. Therefore, I can recommend this novel for any BL lovers who have a bit of time on their hands. <<less

I hate-read about 46 chapters of this. I read until about 30ish, forgot about it, was looking for something to read, discovered it again, and resumed reading, and immediately realized why I had dropped it. I had a VISCERAL reaction to the utter inanity of this novel. 100% do not recommend. However, the translator is great and has some other really good picks on their site so check their translations out. Back to the novel:

The MC is a transmigrator from a post-apocalyptic world. He transmigrates into a novel that he,... more>> for some reason, had the chance to read right before he died... in the apocalypse. We don't know how; he just did. The character is a cannon-fodder who dies and he wants to subvert that, sure. That makes total sense and that kind of plot can be done well.

However, he's way too OP and not in a funny, charming, or likeable way. The author spends multiple paragraphs telling us how impressed everyone is with the OP's looks, voice, talent, and intelligence. He doesn't have to work for anything; he is just already perfect, unlike the cannon fodder he's taken the body of. The author tells, instead of shows, the entire plot.

The author also posits the original protagonists as idiots and villains, which is a huge pet peeve of mine but the author doesn't even do the reader the service of providing a good reason to hate either of them. The novel's male protagonist is on guard against his uncle because he's been reborn but the MC is like "Oh, well, I have to ruin his life now so he can't complete the original plot." But why? If his previous life experience has him on guard against his uncle then, how is he suddenly the bad guy? Isn't the uncle the bad guy? The author never tells you why the MC is wrong about his bad impression of his uncle, either. Just TELLS you. The female lead has a goldfinger that allows people to like her more than they originally would and he's like "Oh, she's a bad person. She's conniving. I want to ruin her!" What... Why? So her having a system and trying to have a good life makes her a bad person but you transmigrating into a novel where you know the plot and also having literally every talent known to man doesn't make you a bad person? You're just supposed to take the MC's word for all this stuff because the author hasn't actually developed any of the characters.

It's not just the novel's original main characters, though. Everyone is evil and against the main character, for seemingly no reason other than for the sake of the plot. The consequential face slapping is just so-- *gags* It's nonstop and it's never earned. It's just written in there as another way to tell you how OP the protagonist is and how impressed everyone is with him. There's no tension building up to any of the face slapping either; an issue arises, he just laughs, and then he solves it using the ML or the plan he came up with ages ago because he somehow predicted it.

I rarely write reviews, let alone for things I didn't enjoy but this novel is so brainless that it physically made me nauseous reading it. If you enjoyed it, that's great but I just had to get this out. <<less

5 Stars!!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I've just finished reading the novel. I have to agree with @elvira12's review.

... more>> I was immediately fascinated by the storyline. The MC's background when he was still in the apocalyptic world was not explored deeply. This world is more focused on the present and the antagonists are something. (Especially once the origin of the original female lead's system is learned)

The original male protagonist of the novel was reborn and the original female lead has a golden finger, supposedly they should be the star and have their happy ending but this novel shows that all things are not what they seem.

The original male lead is the nephew of the "villain" (ML) I like how the MC takes his time and "wakes" the nephew up. The original male lead's progress in the novel is such a good thing to watch.

The original female lead is quite hateful. But let me just say that her ending was well written.

The characters aren't that brainless, they don't just disappear after they had been mentioned, they are well written in my own opinion.

The ending is really well made and my heart just goes *doki doki* the sweetness and the heartfelt awe for their love.... *sighs* I'm just so happy for them especially after reading the extras.

The novel is only up to 170 and the other 5 chapters are more on extras. (I actually want more) ?

The MC is headstrong. He's confident, good at scheming and looks at the different angles on certain scenarios. He's also lively and passionate.

You can see how their attraction with each other starts.

The ML is very different from those suddenly possessive and "you're not going anywhere" trope. He's just a darling cinnamon roll/tsundere. I swear, I just had to laugh at his responses to the MC's teasing especially at the latter chapters where he is much more open.

The ML is caring. So silently caring and is sensitive. He worries about the MC and whenever the MC experiences a little grievance, he'll go on full war mode (while being a tsundere) ?

Looking back, all of the characters here have really grown. I'm just so happy for the ML. I wish the both of them happiness and good health.

I'm so glad I decided to read this immediately. Thank you to the author for giving life the characters. Also, thank you to the translator/s and editor/s who picked this novel up.

I'll keep on supporting you. <<less

We got a tsundere ML that is so effin cute, funny af, and annoying as hell hahaha. We have a cool headed MC that is so adult like minded.

This is so cute and different among trnasmigration novels because we got interaction from our transmigrated MC and the original-story-heroine-with-system.

The plot is great, there are however too much drama like other novels that makes the entertainment setting a bit too mucb unrealistic. Nevertheless the novel is great, our MC and ML is great.

Rated this 5 stars cuz I didnt skip any chapter,... more>> it entertained me the whole time I was reading it for 9 hours. <<less

I want to start by saying that this novel really surprised me. The character development, both individually and as a couple, was impressive. I almost overlooked it due to the "tsundere" label, as a small misstep in such a character could ruin the image of a good pairing. But I'm so glad I trusted the author.

MC, a producer born with a poor voice unable to sing his songs, which was a lifelong regret. Then, an apocalypse struck, making things worse. Upon transmigration, he discovers he's in a book where the... more>> original body has a good singing voice, giving him the ability to sing his creations. Despite the joy this brings, he's also curious about the reason for his transmigration and the fate of the original body, which dies according to the book.

MC is portrayed as intelligent, confident, and direct, unafraid and desiring a life where he can be happy singing and earning money. Yet, he also longs not to be alone. When he meets ML, he initially enjoys teasing him, but everything changes when he notices ML's genuine care, even though he's aware it's due to their legal marriage and ML's mother.

It's revealed that MC and ML are married due to a belief in the compatibility of their signs according to ML's mother, a common practice in Chinese communities.

ML, initially cold and reserved, gradually reveals himself to be warm and sensitive. Although the relationship develops slowly, ML struggles due to personal issues and his lack of hope for the future.

The author avoids directly romanticizing ML's personality, focusing on the conflicts this might entail. The story also highlights MC's fame, including scenes on Weibo and occasional concerns from MC about public opinion.

The plot adequately addresses questions such as the reason for transmigration, ML's illness, and the nature of the system. While some may prefer shorter plots, the number of chapters in this novel is justified by the need to answer various questions and provide a complete development.

In summary, if you don't like direct, comprehensive, and well-developed novels, this may not be for you. However, for those who enjoy this style, the story offers a satisfying read with a lovely ending. <<less

I always come back to this novel when things go bad.

The MC is so tolerant, patient, loving, talented, and just overall good character. He's so compatible with the ML that their love is so sweet and heartwarming.

The plot- 8/10. reasons being the MC and the ML overcoming problems was too easy and not really confronted any difficulty winning other than... you know who. The face slapping was satisfying and many things really moved me.

The romance though?- 10/10. just read it, I promise you won't regret it.

I'm reviewing this after rereading this again and it's was as good as the first time. I still shed tears on the same chapters and get butterflies on the same line. This novel is probably the best In it's genre and I've a read alot of them. I really don't know how to put it in words but their love story is so heartfelt and touching. I love the MC and his tsundere husband interaction from the beginning towards the end

although a bit slow and I get a bit frustrated... more>> when qiu xing was being hesitant to pursue xie yang bcos of his illness but it was worth the wait. I understand his reasons nevertheless Love wins in the end and xie yang is by far one of my favorite MC. He knows what he wants, he's cunning like a little fox but also the kindest and encouraging towards the ml, love him so much 💕 <<less

This novel's ML is not the typical ML you read in other novels. He is not over possessive or paranoid type ml. Actually, the MC described the ML as a henpecked husband and as a timid guy. In chapters, most of the interactions between couples were the initiative of the MC because the ML is a timid mouse haha😂. The interactions in this novel was warm and fluffy. I hope other readers will learn to love this novel. Thank you and have a nice day.

I am so frustrated by this novel's lack of structure.

Even though the summary hinted at some sort of plot, the MC is essentially just doing whatever he wants... and because of plot armour, he succeeds.

The author does not even provide a concrete description of the MC and ML's appearances from the get-go. They feel so abstract and non-characteristic.

... more>> Although I like the MC's snarkiness and shamelessness when dealing with internet trolls, it does not really contribute to the plot?

And the MC and ML have no chemistry so far. The ML was described as black-bellied in the summary but in the MC's terms, he just feels like an "old man".

But the thing that is seriously making me consider dropping this novel is the author's clear lack of skill with portraying situations. They describe everything in idealized but broken parts without any concrete words. For example,
Spoiler

the scene about the MC's debut stage / the group's 5th anniversary performance. How the author described the song was essentially: the best moving, fresh song ever! So... what about the lyrics...? What's the genre? What's the meaning of the song...?

[collapse]

Not to mention as a music fan, the portrayal of the showcase was so unrealistic, I'm actually mad. 20 songs in a row without a break?! Wtf this author clearly doesn't know anything about music. And the performance they described in detail was so unrealistic. Continuous fireworks in the beginning. A fast "rhythm". Constant metaphors about animals, chains, etc without specially mentioning how the song sounds or what the lyrics are...

So the only reason I've read so far is because the novel's pretty fast-paced and the MC has managed to accomplish a lot, making me want to see it through 'till the end. But the writing style is beyond lacklustre... <<less

It's sooo cute. I love the story, the characters, and just everything. One thing that I appreciated about this novel is that people that have done something wrong in the previous plotline still have the chance to get better and no one is really completely finished off. But they were still really f*cking persistent.

Spoiler

Like the big villain boss (but not really) was defeated but once she got sent away, they were like "ya she deserved enough" and she got to live happily with her father.

[collapse]

I've read some novels where the MC would cripple them, kill them, or something along those lines, so it was refreshing from just relentless face slapping.

Xie Yang is so sweet and he always bullies Qiu Xing. Qiu Xing is such a mood though. He's actually scared of Xie Yang and literally runs away whenever Xie Yang makes a move on him, such an innocent boi.

Spoiler

I loved the part when QX was trying to be "oppressive" to XY, but XY was like "come at me bro" and then QX got scared and ran away.

[collapse]

And QX really be channeling a mouse. He is so sneaky and scared of literally everything that XY does, but he does have his fair share of gong moments.

They are such a cute couple. The relationship buildup was also really sweet. The translation is really good so it really helped build up the mood. Even when they hold hands or hug it feels so scandalous, and I've read some hardcore yaoi. <<less

At first I read the novel at Chrysanthemum Garden, but I like it too much and decided to MTL. One thing for sure, it is worth it! MTL is easy to understand, so if y'all want to read more. Feel free to MTL it.

What I love the most from this WN is that the MC & ML personalities are not the typical personalities that most MC & ML have. The MC is truly shameless, straightforward, and tend to make the first move. While the ML is what our MC... more>> said as "timid and conservative person." He is not that timid and coward, just not sure how to talk his mind and feeling, and sometimes (most of the times) flustered by MC's shamelessness.

I also love how there is no unnecessary misunderstanding drama between them. I also enjoy the comedic aspect and dog food provides by the couple.

Overall the WN is enjoyable to read and also to reread. Highly recommend this WN, especially if you are tired of ice-block ML. <<less

Actually really good. The MC is so interesting, and the ML is very cute, so their roles have a bit more complexity than what we may be used to. For example, although the MC nominally is in a precarious spot (his family sold! him! that's right, like a 2010 Wattpad story), he's never really very worried about it and the ML treats him with respect. Later on when they become closer, the ML continues to be the type who's all bark and no bite. In short, he acts cold and... more>> tough but it's very obvious he's being bullied by the MC...

Nothing much to say about the villains. The writing is good enough that you don't mind they're not very deep, so far. <<less

This novel is full of dog food between MC and ML. ML is a very cute tsundere and I really love seeing their interaction. Tho tbh, I just can’t see why they can fall in love with each other at the beginning but you’ll be fed with dog food since their early interaction. Probably the generic “oh he seems different from rumors he is interesting I must stare”.

One of the review actually pointed out the fact that nobody really question his personality changes and it’s not wrong. The changes is... more>> very 180 degree but the heat it caused is very little. Some did question it but eh, it was just forgotten the next second. Even ML who at first thought of it but brush it off with “he has been hiding the real him very well, interesting” and that’s it. MC also justify it as “ori owner doesn’t have friends, doesn’t matter”.

His holo is too strong. Nobody can cause him trouble long enough and it will be resolve soon. The speed is ‘current chapter trouble start, next chapter trouble resolve, culprit found’. Continuous face-slapping which repeated again and again that I do admit it was quite boring once in a while.

I really like the final chapter where the author give the background to oriFL’s system and how his transmigration happened. <<less

5 Stars 💫✨️

I could give it more rating but alas... 5 is the highest I can give.

The Story line is awesome! 🔥 Characters are fantabulous! Lot of Dog food! With Face Slapping as well! In short, a perfect BL recipe... ohh, sorry... Novel👌

MC XY is a transmigrator from a zombie apocalypse world. Author didn't explore XY's past much. Probably because main story was mostly based on XY & QX!!! Which was the best! XY is a person who respondes in kind. He is good to those who help him and... more>> bad... very bad... to those who want to harm him. What I loved the most about him was XY has 0 tolerance for people who mess with QX. There were people who insulted or harmed him, but I felt he was a bit softer on them, compared with those who wanted to harm QX. He would literally destroy them. Throughout the novel, I could feel his love for QX, tolerance for QX's (s*upid, but only in the beginning) nephew and support for QX's mother.

ML QX was the cutest character in this novel. Not kidding!! At the end of the novel, even XY's fans know that QX is a henpicked husband. He is a classic tsun but a bit Fierce. He acts coquettish in front of his mom and XY, but quite scary in front of others. His facade was so believable that even his nephew thought that his uncle was bad. But XY discovered QX's tsundereness quite early in the novel. He loves teasing him! And QX's reactions are the best!

The best part of the novel is their journey. I loved the portrayal of a realistic scenario when someone in a family suffers or battles a deadly disease such as cancer. QX has cong**ital heart problems and brain cancer...

I will just quote the last lines of the novel, which will be suffice to understand why you must read this novel..

Spoiler

Everyone talked about the wedding cost, how expensive XY's and QX's rings were, the domestic and foreign guests present at the wedding etc... everyone envied the wealth and wedding expenses of the couple until a comparative photo appeared from out of nowhere and became a hot Weibo post.

There were two photos placed together.

In the first photo, XY sat on a chair in the rest area of the coldly lit police station with unbearable fatigue in his eyes. There was a bouquet of broken roses in his arms as QX half-kneeled in front of him, bald, thin and in a hospital gown. The two of them stared at each other and their eyes made people feel sad.

In the second photo, in a corner of the brightly lit and warm auditorium, XY had finished the wedding ceremony and sat on a chair with a large bouquet of champagne roses in his arms. QX was half-kneeling in front of him and reached out to help him tidy his hair with gentle eyes. The two of them stared at each other and the scene was so happy that people couldn't help smiling.

The one who posted the photo was a small blogger and she added the text: I watched you go from the hospital gown to the wedding suit. The journey wasn't easy. I wish you happiness.

Netizens saw the two contrasting photos. At this moment, they no longer felt envious of the grand wedding of the two people.

Instead, they envied their love...

I honestly really want to give this a full read but every time I try to pick it up again that I kept dropping it after a few chapters because of small yet noticeable plot holes that kept coming up and how entitled I feel MC is. I can’t seem to find a reason to like MC or ML much, yeah sweet op badass romance or whatever but I don’t see anything relating to power couple to this main leads. The ratings and of how many people recommended this makes... more>> me have high expectations for this only to end up disappointed. I don’t know if it’s just me but it feels so bland sometimes.

Spoiler

just like most critical reviewers, the problems I have with this are MC acting so different yet no one in this new world question it. The other characters such as OG FL felt like a stepping stone for MC. I don’t like how OG FL is portrayed as a villain without a reasonable explanation just because she wanted to live her life. The ML buying og MC from his dad for what like 50millions dollars? Which kinda threw me off even if their romance is uwu sweet afterwards. The kind of attitude that MC and ML have. He feels like a Mary sue and too op sometimes. I don’t mind him coming from an apocalypse world but it just really threw me off with how entitled and sometimes unlikable he came off as. Overall if you could look pass it, give it a read ig. I think this is just an average transmigration with an op unreasonable MC who transmigrated into a villain x rich and powerful possessive mentally ill ML or whatever, the two couple face slaps people? These two couple reminded me of quickly wear the face of the devil (which I’ve finished reading), they’re both similarly unreasonable, unhinged, and lack IQs for someone who claim they’re high up in the sky aka smart and talented.

I can honestly say that this is one of my absolute favorite novels of all time. Not because of the face slapping (though I loved that), not because of the super cunning, smart, and capable Xie Yang (though I absolutely adore him), not because of the tsundere, clingy mouse Qiu Xing (though his character progression and attitude is cute and hilarious). No, I love this novel because the love between Xie Yang and Qiu Xing is one of the most heartwarming loves I have ever read. The author is amazing... more>> because of the sheer depth of emotion they conveyed when writing this couple. It felt like these two were living, breathing people.

People who didn't finish the novel may not understand why Xie Yang worked so hard to bring down the FL from the novel, but everything is revealed gradually and he has VERY valid reasons for wanting to take her down.

Spoiler

Her ability brainwashes people into loving her unconditionally. No matter what she does, her golden finger ability will make it so the people around her will never find fault with her. Xie Yang hates her because she is willfully affecting people's minds, and he finds out quickly that if she uses her ability on someone too much it can cause them permanent brain damage, but she does it anyways despite knowing this. Xie Yang also realizes that this is why Qiu Xing deteriorated so quickly and died in the novel, because the FL used like, a forced love ability which forced him to love her and then kept using her ability on him which made his health deteriorate. Even later it's revealed that she stole her sister's college money, stole her father's business money so he nearly went bankrupt, falsely accused her boyfriend of abuse which ruined his life, ruined the life of her friend who should have debuted with her by spreading damning rumors, and the list continues.

So, any reviews who are trying to defend the book's FL and saying that Xie Yang had no reason to ruin her obviously did not read or understand the novel.

I will say though that's it is revealed that the system was also influencing her brain and making her act like that. Once XY purifies her, some of her rationality comes back.

[collapse]

Yes, Xie Yang is an OP character and everything seems to be easy for him, but you can see his struggles through the novel. He reacts calmly to so many things, but that makes sense considering he was living in an apocalyptic world in his previous life. After living such a life, I can understand how he could be so calm in this new, relatively safe world no matter what got thrown at him.

Qiu Xing is also such a well written tsundere ML. He is also OP in his own right, but he is also very real. He's not a typical cold ML. His struggled to open up, to fight for his own life, to let himself love Xie Ying is all so well written.

Please give this novel a shot. It really is incredible and I want more people to experience the warm, incredible love that this novel portrays. <<less

This has easily one of the best MC's I've come across. He's smart, a bit OP, but not a total Mary Sue, decisive, and just super competent overall.

ML is a described, a jar of 50% sugar, 50% vinegar. He is quite the tsundere, who needs to be coaxed every now and again, but he's really just a little mouse.
