I LOVE this story oh so SO MUCH.

The translation quality is questionable, as in just marginally more readable than mtl but the story itself is an absolute diamond.

The narrative was wonderful at displaying emotions. I cried like so much < (ಥ ︿ ಥ) >

There's an engaging mystery coupled with a goal that seemed like a straight line but ended up being merged by multiple threads that becomes extra thicc and loop together seamlessly. It truly feels like a short but long read that left me in tears. Joy, happiness,... more>> relief, and sorrow. That was how I felt at the end of it.

There's this squishy family thing going and I'm weak when it comes to fixing a broken family ok. Terrible circumstances, white lies, support, protection, overcoming trauma, acceptance and all that and now I'm crying again QwQ ((Do reach out to other people when you need help yall))

I can't help but find the description up top to be... lacking. Crash course intro. Lucion, our MC, is a warlock. [Not really a spoiler since it's in the first few chps anyways but like I guess I better put it in this spoiler thing :p]-->
Spoiler

Call it medieval but it's almost a witch-hunt type of era for warlocks. He was gifted with the ability to see the red (and blue) strings of fate through the manifestation of his past life memories where he has read a novel in which Lucion was a mid-boss villain dying to his brother. To resist this fate he must sever the lines connecting himself with other relevant people by changing the relationship dynamic. To do that he ends up leading a double life with his feet basically on fire from how much he's moving around to make things work. Boi barely gets any sleep which I find funnysad since stereotypically warlocks are depicted to sleep a lot.

[collapse]

Now I have a very specific favorite kink when it comes to stories. In short, I overwhelmingly love the hurt/comfort genre. There's just something in me that loves it when the MC gets hurt and people worry for them. Specifically, the very visual act of vomiting blood. I like it an unhealthy amount and this story delivers. If anyone else crave this type of stories go check out my lovingly tailored Rec List *cough*

Anyway, enough with the shameless plug, due to my bias I fell hard for TCF and felt like nothing else could beat that level of quality, heart thumping hurt/comfort. Surprise surprise this story not only made the cut but jumped over it in this category. What a treasure for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, it was a wild ride. I do hope that future readers will take their time to understand Lucion because he is such a lovely person that was dropped in very terrible circumstances. It was amazing to see him grow, find his happiness, and finally be happy. I'm happy to have read this story, and like Lucion, I wish you all to find your happiness and be happy~ <<less

Beautiful and heartbreaking.... (Cried buckets of tear from all those emotional rides *sob*)
Lucion really, really works hard. He, who desperately just wants to live, like a normal person, protects his family and his people by cutting off those ominous threads of fate, but for that, he discovered what he's actually preventing not only leads to his death, but also towards man-made disasters, deaths, the downfall of his family, Empire and the world... omg it literally is against him.

First of all, I'm really proud of him. He did... more>> his very best, gritting his teeth, continue walking forward, blood, sweat and tears, constantly overcoming himself, his flaws, his short-comings, his traumas, his misfortunate and unsightly past, for the sake of his future where he could be happy and everyone survive in peace.

Fragile as he is, he holds himself so steady, so strong and tightly that I'm afraid he'd eventually broke himself. Would it not be good to rest a bit, relax just a bit? But no, we were constantly reminded that his choices were correct, time would not waits for him as death is always behind him, only by being one step faster could he narrowly survive on that small piece of crumbling land he made to stand on.

If you asks how could moving for his survival be so excruciatingly hard and desperate? Hmm if you knows TCF, thinks of Cale overworking and tossing his body in dangers, got bloodied hole on his body and coughing blood, but still stand up and continue on his life as both an aristocrat and black-clothed man as if nothing happened without his magical regenerative ability.
Spoiler

Dragging his weak-ass body constantly plagued with anemia, mental&physical fatigue, eating and bathing in Light that's poisonous to himself just to gain a bit of immunity to not die instantly when push comes to shove and be exposed as warlock? All the while not yet recovering from injuries, relying only on his body's below-average recovery and a few days of rest *at most*, still traveling to and fro? Hah. While non-stop doing front-line battle at small to medium-scaled enemy's bases, infiltration, tracking, interrogation, recruiting talents, supporting his organization, sending news to relevant ppl at his own risk? Everything, ALONE, with only 2 ghosts, 1 escort and 1 pet (the sweetest baby fox ever) ??? *Profanities*

[collapse]

As he recognizes bigger, and bigger mess, intertwining with his fate, that the enemies secretly concocting. Unknowingly, he willingly bears great responsibility on his shoulders, trying to prevent all those man-made disasters, hiding and putting on a front, asking almost pleadingly for cooperation from those with power he knows of, but unable to confide in anyone that should have been his closest confidants and loved ones...
Spoiler

Trying to fix by himself the broken trust he has for his family who he loves and loves him, but couldn't stand to confront him due to their deep anguish, guilts and self-reproach towards what the child Lucion have to experience all by himself, unable to protect or help him, nor empathized with him as his family so they eventually avoids him, turning their eyes away from him before they goes crazy themselves...

[collapse]

Did I not mention compressing Cale and the gang's deeds and journey even shorter, with no more than a few day of rest or not at all in btw. In just half a year to increase his strength and save the world from great crisis, as the Ultimate villain approaching his goal. Oh..#####!

A hell of a ride, baby. I thinks my mood is on the low side in those days reading this. Not that there're no positivity, happiness and heartwarming moments, just my tear glands were on the broke, I can't control it... My heart aches in sadness and gratefulness as I immerses myself in this character called Lucion Cronia, the strongest, most lovely boy I have ever met. *sob* ... Yes, he's not an adult, yet.*beep* <<less

Has a quite good start, seems to have potential depends on the updates tho and I wanna know how old is he? There seems to be quite a lot to unfold... Nothing is specified yet and seems to take place in the future chapters but there doesn't Seems to be much complaints and the translators are not doing bad, I might change my review after more chapters come out but currently it's quiet steady and seems interesting

5 ☆ for this!

The opening of this novel is particularly unique and interesting. It pique my curiosity the moment I laid eyes on the first chapter, making readers want to immediately turn to read the next chapter.

The character development and plot are so far good enough for me to follow this work for more 200 chapters. It's promising.

The MC, Lucien is smart and opportunistic, he's not the type of MC to be outstandingly intelligent or suspiciously mysterious. Furthermore, I love the fact that the MC is both Lucien and Ha-ram... more>> (MC's past life). Like, in many novels as MCs get reincarnated, they often don't understand the true struggles and difficulties the original characters have to suffer. So, when the MC is both Original Lucien and Ha-ram, I understand the personalities of both characters. <<less

The powers are very interesting. If they focus on his development instead of trying to insert political conflicts I think this could be a great novel. Looking forward to future chapters.

This novel is worth the reading!

The beginning may be slow but the story after a while is really interesting. The writing is not bad, and the plot is good. The novel is about warlocks, black magic and divine power... but I really enjoyed the family side.

An overprotective brother and sister and a father who cares about him. His ties with his family or with his master are something really interesting, whether in the past or in the present.

Lucion is not a main character who is strong from the beginning but... more>> who grows throughout the story.

He has a goal that may be evasive but it's something that he truly deserves. Revelation after revelation, the meaning of his goal, "I want to live", became more deeper.

He has a double life. He lives as Lucion Chronia, and as Hamel, he lives with a mask on, fearing to be rejected and killed as warlock. The development is indeed amazing and emotional, and I really mean it. I'm maybe just too sensitive but I I've cried so many times reading this story.

The writing may be not incredible, but the auhor did a great job to transmit the emotions.

Just by thinking of it, I feel emotional...

Spoiler

While reading, I felt like I was reading "tr*sh of the count's family" and seeing Cale, always coughing blood and overworking.

And the thing I really liked was his relation ship with the other characters like Ale, the organization Lucion created. It felt like a second home. Especially with his family, Heint, Russell and Bethel. The moment where his family discovered that he was a warlock made me cry so much.

The characters are well written and the character development as well. Lucion also has a character development. I felt like a proud mother watching his child growing T^T

I would have liked to know more about his mother too, we still don't know where her grave is.

Interesting but frustrating.

When writing dialogue, proper structure is important. The reader should effortlessly be able to tell who's speaking.
That's not the case here.

The less than stellar characterization means, among the human characters, the dialogue isn't differentiated enough to easily tell who's speaking.

... more>> A lot of sentences are so oddly phrased that they feel detached from the topic at hand. It's not always the case but it happens often enough that you're constantly stopping to mentally correct and attempt to connect the seemingly disparate parts.

It feels like work and after waiting so long for releases, it leaves me tired and unfulfilled.

I'll come back to it in a year in the hope that it'll have improved. <<less

This story is so beautiful.

I lost sleep and cried buckets for this. I literally went on a 3 day bingereading without sleep. And I have no regrets.

Lucion, I am so f*cking proud of you.

... more>> Russel, I am so f*ckin proud of you.

And to everyone else.

For the first time reading a book, I wasn't only interested on the main character. I was interested in everyone. My heart ached for every single character in the book. From the main characters, to the side characters and even for some of the villains. I understood them, I knew why they've done what they did, and I hope for them to live in happiness.

I don't even know how to begin this review because I want to talk to every one of the characters. Especially Lucion's family. Novio, who treated his family as his strength, weakness and his treasure to cherish. Carson, who was riddled with burden and guilt yet fought with it and through it with all of him. Sheila, who ran just to learn to better protect her family. Lucion, who was full of scars inside and out but actually tried so hard to live just like a normal person. This family wasn't perfect but they were sincere. Not only that, but the people of Kronia as well. The maids, butlers, knights, Anthony, they were so nice. I am so proud of them to get that far.

Then we have, Russel. He perservered.
Spoiler

When some random child called him a hero, he was like a moth chasing light. He remembered every death, every repeat yet he continued so he could save Lucion. He literally did everything and anything he could. Then, he succeeded.

[collapse]

Not only them, but literally everyone will make your heart ache. If you're planning to read this, make sure to bring some tissues, I'm not joking when I tell you that my tears were so uncontrollable I even crid in public. It was embarassing. <<less

This novel is boring. The MC is always acting like he is the most pitiful person in the world because of his past experiences even though he already have a caring rich family, good teacher and loyal friends.

This novel just can't pique my interest because I already read a lot of novels where MC is suffered more than this MC have but not acting pitiful as he did like tower of karma, the main heroines are trying to kill me and many more.

The translation quality is... readable but questionable. As such, it's not clear if the issues I have with the story are because of the original writing or because of the translation quality. I'm also not even halfway through what has been translated. Giving it the benefit of the doubt, a solid 4/5.

Various things are narrated or weirdly described - this is one of those things where I'm not clear if the fault is in the translation or not. For instance, the descriptions of the MC's powers, his training, and the... more>> exposition about warlock abilities up to the point I've read is kind of a drag. It could sound fine in Korean and just be weird in English and need to be reworded a bit, or it could be equally boring. For instance, the descriptions of his magic as "darkness" and being able to manipulate "the darkness" and generally just using the word "darkness" weirdly is just one example of weird wordage in this translation. Using "Shadow" or "Dark magic that can manipulate shadows" or something to the effect would be better in English, but maybe it's supposed to be a more vaguely-defined kind of ability? Also I don't like Ratta because I think it's annoying, but that's just a personal preference.

Besides that, pretty good. I like the main character a lot. Not too overpowered, not too s*upid - just the right balance in an MC. Very much the underdog in an unfair situation just trying his best. If you like the genre, you'll probably enjoy this. <<less

The start of the novel is really great, powers are also interesting and good, the translation is good except in the dialogues it gets confusing like a mtl, but only in dialogues which is gotten better in later chapter, the rest is fine, problem is the speed of uploading, there are too big of gap between each release, maybe cause its not famous yet, I hope it picks up pace between the reader and translator.

I loved this so much! Read this ages ago, and this was actually THE novel that pushed me to start buying chapters on the original Korean site.

The hidden identity trope and the found family vibes are an incredible combination. I love, love, love MC's relationships with his teacher, his family, other spirits, and his organisation... and the original male lead, of course! This story also made me cry at certain points, and it hurt so good haha.

One of the things I appreciate is that even though MC is already known... more>> as 'evil' and 'crazy' to the wide society, when he tries to change his image and fate, he doesn't really do much of that grovelling towards other people that many works include. He manages to restore good public opinion in himself while still remaining himself.

And of course, it helps a lot that his family love him to bits!!!

Overall, this is an amazing found family story with rebuilding of familial bonds and main character healing himself, with plenty of lovable characters, BAMF moments, and an easily read writing style that makes for a nice binge read. <<less

The story itself is definitely interesting and fun, but... the translation. There is no structure, and especially in the last few chapters that I read, I have no clue who is talking.

I will set this aside for now and wait until there are more chapters (and thus more context) to decipher who and what they are talking about.

Im rating this higher for the sake of overall rating.

Its actually good. This is novel that gives depth on mc's whole being, it makes you cry, makes you frustrated, when the thing that anchors him in the world were just ghosts and everyone couldn't and wouldn't even think of ever accepting his other identity that no one else knows, you would wished he could overturn all of it, vouching for his hardwork all though he's overwork that he often risks his overall well-being with an already broken body and traumatized... more>> mind. He's just like the MC of the 'tr*sh of the Count's Family' except he's the kind that actually does cry when every wound and scars of his existence was revealed to those important people who he tried his best to hide.

Its start off when every trauma has already been done only recover his optimism towards life and the future when he remembered his past life and a certain novel.

But the problem with this one was...

TOO MUCH EMPATHY.

Its understandable that its themed that way but too much could exhaust everyone. I know people have a lot sympathize with but you have to understand that when everything of it is poured out, its just tiring at the end. (Reminds me of relationships really. lol)

So you could see a lot of readers thinking the MC is too much for being pitiful. I would recommend this to those who wouldn't mind pouring their hearts though. Definitely not for those who just want to see characters shine and fly. <<less

The translation is readable, although I kinda found an ick while reading haha. It was readable, yes, but that readability should've been consistent throughout the translated chapters. Imagine reading smoothly, then you stumble upon a part of the chapter because what you just read got you lost. I'd rather not have any context at all (me when reading MTL bcos I don't understand) than be confused and bothered by a translation that doesn't fit in the whole. Not to sound ungrateful though, cause I've also read the raws through MTL... more>> and that was also a struggle.. This translation is still highly appreciated.

As for the novel itself, it's good. The setting/world building is unique enough, and you probably won't find such a concept unless you purposely search for it. The flow of the story is also unexpected haha it keeps me curious to want to stay up till the next.

Spoiler

There are misunderstandings in this novel that I think are a bit of a stretch. The worry for Hamel would probably be more valid for me if Ale members had more interactions with him. But yeah, those were for the earlier chapters, as the story progessed I guess their bond deepened enough to justify the reactions and worry.

[collapse]

This is action-packed (I think) with Lucion/Hamel at the center, sacrificing himself. There's bits of politics and scheming, but I feel that the author focuses more on resolving feelings of anger, guilt, and regret all throughout.

Spoiler

One thing I feel that should have happened though, is Bethel getting to reunite with her Master through possessing Lucion. It will probably go that way, but I still wanted to read how the author will do it.

[collapse]

The chapters close to the end were a tear-jerker, especially ch287. Chapters 288-289 were the epilogue. The side story starts at 290-294 which is about the how the master and disciple relationship between Russel and Lucion were established. <<less

This novel has interesting concept, family love and story where I enjoy

But the downside is the writing. I find the way of writing is mostly conversation. The explaining of the surrounding or MC's thinking is not enough to get me immerse. And when there are multiple people talking together, it's difficult to catch who talk.

[The current translation also has few errors so it's difficult to understand the story sometime]

In the beginning, the story seem a bit slow while MC try to set up his own foundation.

Spoiler

MC foundation below

    • set up organization - this chapter is boring
    • darkness training - some part fun, some part just like reading boring explanation
    • sword (body) training. - There is brother interaction that I enjoy a lot.
    • getting Ratta, darkness divine beast - At this point of reading, he seem like just simple cute support type.
    • getting non human butler - The writer can portray his history into his personality very well. He is lovable with the way of learning human interaction.
    • making friend - almost sleep on their conversation....

So when it's time for MC to join a banquet... I was like ok, I will be reading another boring arc before he get to action... Then boom!! there is action at banquet and the friend, the non human butler are more useful than I though.

I previously though they are just extra with no purpose from the way the story shown...

[collapse]

Once the action start, I find the story really enjoyable.

MC need to take action while hiding his darkness. He has reliable friends and family, the friend and family worry about him but they also trust his action even he has bad history with handle things.

Actually, I intend to give this 4 but I already click 5 and cannot modify... so here goes.

10/10 I LOVED IT SO MUCH 😭

We have a typical sickly character but it have different essence from others. I found it original in it's own way.I love dynamics between characters and plot

Before chapter 70-80 I became a little bit bored but after that it really flows like water. There is no useless information or characters, everything had a use in the story. And we have so much character devolopments even for side characters.

You laugh at something and one minute later you can found yourself crying and wanted to give... more>> BIG BIG HUGS to Lucion 😭 He is THE BEST BOY 🥺

Note: Sometimes it's quite hard to understand who is talking but I don't know its due to translation or its originally like this.

I feel like lucion of the previous world is the most pitiful. At least other Lucion (s) had Russel taking care of them for 10 years and didn't self-isolate and our MC lucion also found his happiness in the end but what about the black figure lucion. Just thinking about him makes me cry.

I would have preferred if our MC remembered his life as the previous world lucion rather than LHR memories.

It totally could have been a rebirth story rather than a reincarnation inside a novel-type story. Afterall his memories as LHR played no role other than maturity and novel content which totally could have been achieved with a rebirth story...... well its the author's choice but since the author made the previous world's lucion as the ego of the black figure, it was just so sad. If the black figure was rather the past king of darkness or something like that, I wouldn't be feeling these conflicting emotions.... ahh he is just so pitiful, I wanna give a hug to him
