Lacking a pocket dimension, power, a thigh to hug onto, and the three life advantages (money, power, and looks), he had been cautiously living in the apocalypse for ten years, getting closer to falling inside the zombie’s mouths.

Unexpectedly, he had the terrible luck, to be caught in a fight between two gangs and die, it really left people feeling disappointed. When he opened his eyes, he had returned to a decade ago, three months before the apocalypse!

Like before he still lacked an ability, an ordinary person without a pocket dimension, but he did have ten full years of experience living in the apocalypse! Even if he didn’t fight zombies, didn’t hunt monsters, he could still live a carefree farming life in the safe zone.

Find a safe house, utilise all kinds of skills from his previous life to farm in exchange for meat, and if possible, find a person to peacefully spend the rest of his life with; ordinary people had their own ordinary little pieces of happiness.

Originally believing he had picked up a beauty he returned home to prepare a golden house, but on the contrary he was the one being pushed down……someone once said, whether it is people or matters, by no means can you only look at the surface!

Very unique apocalypse story. It has an intense slice of life twist, where the goal here is "live well", not "do great things".

Characters: 4.5/5

Tbh my high rating is more because these characters are unique rather than they are written very well. Definitely a group of different characters with unique personalities and talents. There's quite a few important characters, so while it is hard to develop all of them differently the author had many chapters to do so. I would say it's not bad, but within the group of students there's... more>> not much differentiation and likewise with the ladies.

However, the MC is such a unique character. I feel like the impression he gives others is quite chill and leisurely, but he has leadership capabilities and fierceness at heart. That said, I wouldn't say he's that interesting lol, too languid for my taste. ML is classic.

Plot: 5/5

Honestly I love slice of life, but even for me some of the details were too particular. However, I really have to give it to the author for writing a story like this. The overall plot is about the apocalypse, and it's executed quite well with a certain degree of realism about the direction of societal development and details of constructing his space (like the way characters are portrayed to be immoral, although I'd like to see more ambiguously moral).

Writing & Translation: 3.5/5

Sometimes the grammar isn't great, but it's not a super big deal. <<less

It's amazing, very slice of life-y. Not a lot of romance but has a lot of companionship.

I really love these type of stories. It is not fast paced and if your looking for too much action, like killing people for revenge and saving the world, this is definitely not for you. If you don't like YAOI this is not for you. If you're the type of reader who dislikes slow-paced stories and gets bored easily, this is definitely not for you.

The mc's character is laidback but can be a badass (badass in the term-he can make fast and wise decisions, a good leader, is a good... more>> person at heart but you wouldn't want to be on his bad side) which is my type of MC that can really survive in an apocalyptic world. Though he is normal, since he doesn't powers etc, I think it suits him since ML is op and also some of his teammates. I really like that the story/MC and his team is practical and what I would do if ever I was in that world (which is why I love this story so much).

The lovestory of the MC and ML is very fluffy and slowpaced because MC can be quite dense in the love department but that's what I like plus ML is handsome and loves MC very much. The otaku team for me is op compared to other teams although they have lesser ability users but with the MC with them there team makes up for that disadvantage.

As i've said about practicality, I really love that they try to have a normal and stable life by making sure they have food, shelter and stuff rather than try to make a change and be some typical MCs that tries to save the world and be a hero. Overall, I really love this story. <<less

3.5, but rounding down because I don't think some of these facts are accurate.

For example,

Spoiler

They get a newborn infant companion at some point in the story, but the mother dies in childbirth. Baby never ever gets any milk, and what's worse is they're feeding it rice porridge. Surprised the baby is even doing okay.

Also, Puppy is eating some stuff that can maker her really sick. Don't give a dog cooked bones cuz it can splinter in their gut and pierce something. Certain veggies and fruits are also bad. And having a vegetarian dog is kinda weird? Not to mention the nutritional value would be pretty detrimental since dogs are primarily carnivorous (I mean they're omnivores but still). I mean, it's been done. Vegetarian and vegan diets for dogs. But they'd still be missing out on the nutrients from meat and such. If the diet isn't balanced then you have to supplement with other things, and in the apocalypse where lots of things were lost, I feel like Puppy wouldn't have survived this long realistically.

[collapse]

It's a slice of life in a zombie apocalypse, but honestly there aren't too many difficulties so it's kinda laid back. I still enjoy it though, but I won't sit here and yell "this is the best zombie/BL everrrr"

It's not too big on fighting (?) One of the reviews before said this is a SoL novel of living a completely sustainable life with a lover and they're not wrong. I feel like author has a few interesting ideas but it's very overshadowed by the farming life.

Overall, I'd say it's not a bad story to pass time with, so give it a shot if thr summary interests you. <<less

From the description, you might assume that this is a story of two gays bravely facing zombie apocalypse together.

In reality, it is a romantic cooking diary "how I live completely self-sustainable life with my lover" with zombie apocalypse being a useless side plot of why it happens in the first place.

I would give it a 3.5 ☆

It's an interesting constructed world... and I still plan on reading it. It just doesn't capture you that well, I think if you look at it more like a diary it makes more sense. Daily routine is mainly what happens every chapter. I always have the urge to skip forward to some action.

MC is focused on day to day activities, about once a month something exciting happens for him. If you're looking for sexy times with ML it's not described that much.

Otherwise I'm still... more>> enjoying it. Give it a try :) <<less

This novel tells of day to day living in an apocalypse world. The romance (BL) isn't really showed much (which is good to me).
I like that the MC is a mature and calm character which shows that he really has lived a long time in an apocalypse world, and he shows that with every decision he made to survive. This has a nice pace of story, not really rushed, and not really slow either.

The characters are ok,

and so far every named characters haven't died yet (yay)

The translation quality for later chapters are not as good, yet the story is clear enough to be understood even with some typo and mis-naming.

This is one of the kind of story I would someday want to reread again. <<less

Good novel! A very slow slice of life with a bit of BL setting in Apocalypse. There are no dramatic scenes. This is a very light novel. It gives you an idea on how to live when apocalypse came. I mean this novel features on how to live a practical and peaceful life in a chaos filled world. Unlike the mcs' in other novels where they enjoy the limelight, adventure and full of drama life, our MC in this novel is not like those typical ones. He just want a... more>> peaceful life thats why he is more relatable.?? <<less

It’s a pretty good story imo, everything flows in logic to an extent, ofc MC and friends are pretty lucky, but you know the author doesn’t wanna torture her characters so that’s a given.

There weren’t glaring plot holes or the like so it wasn’t rage inducing for me.

Development between characters are pretty good imo, not too fast and gradual enough to not feel abrupt.. well cept for that one couple... but it’s ok they stayed together all the way.

There’s ofc the ugliness of selfishness and the like of how some... more>> people react in desperation and greed, so if that makes you uncomfortable, prolly best to skip this... it’s not too heavy in that aspect but it is definitely present. <<less

I love this novel that I had to google translate the raws. Nothing wrong with translated ones. It just that I am too impatient to wait.

The Bl content is minimum in here. Which is fine by me as I fell in love with the storyline. The story focus is more on the hardworking protaganist and his squad members. Even without supernatural power, he has gain the trust and recognization from his squad. All I can say is that its unlike other apocalypse stories that I hv read. The part I... more>> hate the most in most novels I read are the ending especially in BL novels since the authors tend to ruin this part before tossing it aside.

This isn't so with Otaku Squad. I wouldn't mind reading it again later. Hoping for continuation of the story to second generation. <<less

This is really great in the aspects that the goals of the MC never changes suddenly because his relatives were mu*dered or he gains power. No, the MC throughout doesn’t magically gain powers he didn’t have in his first life. His goals remain steady, which is to have a peaceful and calm life and he does exactly while finding himself a boyfriend!!

So 5/5

I find this novel to be so cute, the MC isn't OP or have crazy abilities which is great but he's not some useless baggage that the ML picks up. I like how the MC acts as he's relateable. The ML is sweet too and isn't crazy OP and his development is very good.

The character development and story development are very good and it's steady, even with time skips everything is steady and it's very interesting on how things are progressing so far.

The story is a slow paced one that introduces elements at a moderate speed. The MC prioritized stability and security, making the scenes more of a smooth ride compared most action genre as the setting of the location was made with security in mind.

The novel paints a realistic and relatable character when it comes to various concerns and decision making. MC doesnt feel OP in the usual sense as knowledge seems to be his strength.

While barely hitting the 20% mark, it's hard to say whether this would change so a... more>> future update may come up.

P.S: I found it weird that some of the readers read it and then found out it's yaoi but isn't it clearly shown in the genre? <<less

i absolutely love this novel, especially it's more relatable cause the MC is just normal ppl without much money to stockpile things be4 apocalypse, so for me it's more logic, bec I'm not rich, the MC struggle in providing for his living make me curious, especially he don't have any ability, tho later he got one lover and ability friends. I basically read this 3 times already. But the story is slowpace so some ppl may not like it.

Another awesome zombie apocalypse danmei but in this one, our reborn MC has no powers at all and can only rely on his pastlife survival skills, his jack-of-all-trades skills and his crossbow sharpshooting skill to carve a little nest for himself in an army-controlled base, working alongside a metal-ability ML and newfound friends. There is no OP protags. They all have to cooperate with others and even sometimes depend on others. I liked the harmonious, domestic and almost familial relationship of MC's Otaku team.

This novel is primarily focused on the... more>> almost-prehistoric daily life of our protags, the survival know-how, the tiring heavy labour... a relatively realistic approach to rebuilding society from scratch. If that's not your thing, then skip this one, as there are plenty of other translated apocalyptic danmei on NU that are shorter and with more action and excitement.

As a fan of romance and fluff, there was not enough sweet moments and romantic interactions but I was still satisfied with their relationship as there is absolutely no doubt that the 2 protags love each other and are fully committed to each other. <<less

Very light spice. It's mostly the fade to black type where it all happens off screen.

This zombie apocalypse story is the only one I have read where the MC does have and never gets special powers.

The core characters are great and there are funny and heartfelt moments.

... more>> The grammar could use some help and some of the names, etc get mixed up. It would benefit from an editor, however, for the most part, you can read and follow along just fine so it's not hard to read.

This has a lot of slice of life, farming, relationship development, etc. Considering it's a zombie apocalypse, it's surprising how much more there is of home life than fighting.

The last 2 chapters do feel rushed, but you get a decent enough ending.

The relationship between the MC and ML is just so wholesome and warm.

I have recommended this to someone and have added it to my list of stories I want to keep track of. It's not one that I would remember as fantastic and a must read, but it is one that I feel fond enough of that I would read again. <<less

Pretty good. Combines yaoi, apocalyptic scenario and survive by super powers and pure cleverness clichés. Can get repetitive, but I like that the MC doesn’t have a superpower and still kicks ass. And off course farming is very important. It’s pretty realistic too, concerning various human reactions during apocalypse, though the main group is really really lucky, they have MC hallo all over them.

The characters, story building, the world and the cruel human nature were all displayed well. Many a times while reading had to console myself, these are the mc's they won't die. The story must continue

If you're looking for something thrilling and exciting novel with plot twists at every turn... THEN THIS AIN'T IT.

This one's a kinda chill novel for a novel with an apocalyptic setting.

Looking for food? Check

... more>> Looking for materials? Check

Planting vegetables? Check

Using science to survive an apocalypse? Check

The point is tht even tho there are some action somewhere in the novel, it isn't much. You might even find it boring if you compare it to other apocalyptic novels. But what I love about it is that even though there are some people in the novel who have powers, the MC doesn't have one. The title is justified with this one <<less
