If there's a 10 star, I'll give it a 10 star rating.

My 1st QT novel was QWTFOD, and it's probably one of earliest ones of the genre and most prominent, so I feel like every other similar novel is a reproduction of the the novel with slight differences. Some were nice others were just cliche n tacky.

This one is by far the better one. The MC is a scheming genius, he calculates every move to ensure success, everything has a purpose, and his mind runs deep. Despite that, he retains... more>> kindness and gentle at times. Truly a smart MC. Totally my type of MC.

ML is still not much explored at the stage I've read, but I can see their attachment to each other despite the fog separating them. The main villain controlling their fate is heinous, OMG, I so feel for them.

So far only 1 world is finished, but I just have a sky high expectations of this novel. I kind of want to go back and lower the review I gave to other QT novels I have rated. Lol

It's just the world building in this novel is beautiful, the story runs smoothly, not a single chapter was boring, and all heartache and pain was described in a way that makes me feel it. The author doesn't gloss over disturbing fact.

I truly recommend reading this novel. Both this and QWTFOD are good entry point to the genre quick transmigration.

A shout out to the translator and the team at CG for picking up the novel, as always the translation is easy to read and no glaring grammatical mistakes. <<less

the Lord God and all the systems. Right now it seems like LG is the big bad of the novel and he never fails to piss me off. Such a fecking b*stard!

[collapse]
looks like there is a lot of scheming and behind the scenes maneuvering and politics outside each world's story so I might not like it but I'll give the translations a try at any rate (not a big fan of politics and scheming). The MC is the cool calculating type but he's also very human and flawed, so it's easier to relate to him as a person and the ML is broken in other ways and not the object of his raiders, which is different from the usual. I didn't care much for the ABO arc but I'm looking forward to the next one. <<less

I just finished the arc 1, and I'm currently at the beginning of arc 2. I decided to stop for now, not because the story was bad but because my tears are gonna be bottomed out at the rate in which I'm crying.

I really can't help but cry for the original owners. They just directly went in my heart.

1st world: I cried because the original owner was s*upid to choose that scum and decided to su*cide. I wanted to slap him and make him remember that he has a family... more>> who love him, doted on him, and will be affected if he dies.

2nd world: The dog, oh my gosh. I'm telling you I f*cking love dogs, they've been with me since I'm a little girl. And now I was directly faced with the fact that a dog was cooked? I feel like going crazy and hacked that mu*derer to pieces.

I'm still at the beginning of arc 2, so I'm probably gonna cry again when I continue the novel. I'm just gonna take a break, and maybe replenish my tears before I jump back into the pit again. Will also probably update this review when I make progress in reading. <<less

Very good concept of transmigration, there are many many unique but logical points that the MC notices about the nature of the world system he's in. But it would be a spoiler to mention them so I'll write it below if you're interested.

Spoiler

The world of systems exists to gather different types of energy depending on the type of world they are in, and MC was put into a system that gathered Entropy energy aka energy usually gathered from Intense suffering. Because of the nature of the energy gathered there are many pits and traps that can lead agents, and even hosts into suffering for an entire lifetime. I also like how in here the hosts being possessed are actually still conscious and see every thing the agent does or says in their body, it's very awful that these are happening to the hosts but it makes sense and gives the transmigration of worlds a more complex and suspenseful air.

[collapse]

I really LOVE the MC, they're mischievous, clever, and outgoing but also vulnerable and full of longing when it comes to their first love. The MC is an agent who chooses the path they walk on depending on what the host (the person he's possessing) would have originally wanted, even doing his best to act and speak as they do. Despite his kindness and consideration to the original hosts he still holds a strong will to return to his original world, only occasionally briefly considering staying due to some people being extremely alike to his first love but in the end it's always just a passing thought and his intent to return to his world remains firm as ever.

I also greatly greatly enjoy how each world and its characters are given their own ample extra to give the readers some peace of mind about what happened to each world's hosts. Each world's host also have their own preference of what happy endings were to them. Each scum also got exactly what they deserved, no more, no less. If they actively killed the host then they also end up dying. If they caused the host great suffering then they get great suffering but not death or a fate worse than death, if they choose to reflect upon themselves and change, the MC leaves it to the host what they want to do in the end.

The ML is also good, not too passive also not too possessive at times just good to the MC without restraining or overloading them. I also like how their relationship developed slowly but sweetly not rushing them getting together. I mostly love this story more for the MC and the deep intricacies of the world.

I can't wait to read the rest when it's translated, but so far thank you so much to the translator for their hard work!! I've really enjoyed it! <<less

It was on a few 'best of' lists that I trust so I was expecting something trurly outstanding, and it's good, but it's beginning to fail to keep my interest. Arc by arc rating:

Genius Cannonfodder's Counterattack Record 4/5
the arc itself was 3/5, but also it's the moment where we get to know the main characters and that was really nice

Getting Rid of that Bigshot 3/5

Love Song on Ice 5/5

I Hear I'm a Battle God 5/5
loved it, and I don't like ABO. Unfortunately I don't think we got the full ending as of yet

The Cycle of Karma, What Goes Around Comes Around 3/5
ok but too long

Raising a Big Cat in the Apocalypse 1/5
I really hated it : (I kept thinking 'this is not how X would work' so I tried to skim it as much as possible, and as a result I barely knew what happened but I don't think this arc contributed much towards the main plotline -- I could have skipped it altogether. I didn't like any of the main characters (even Chi and 61, oh god why was 61 an animal in this one), didn't feel comfortable with their relationship... just a lot of nope

System vs. System: 5/5?

I've waited years for this to be fully translated but I can't wait anymore and just read what they got and mtl the rest lol

I still appreciate the translators who've been working on this novel for so long, and will let me read most of it in high quality😌
————
Currently reading now, but so far it's just alright to me. The way the MC was introduced and his reaction towards this crazy scenario he was thrown in seems rather bland to me, especially with the things he had to witness and currently is experiencing. His character somehow feels "off" to me. His actions, though, are far from bland.

Another thing is how and when they revealed who the ML is to the readers, it didn't really have much of impact me. I didn't really care too much tbh.

Anyways, although I'm not as attached to the characters or romance as I normally would, the face slapping in this is really fun and satisfying. Which is why I will probably continue, and hopefully the hidden plot will increase my interest as well.

————

I find myself feeling that the arcs are too long and end up trying to skim/speed read the chapters. When I feel like we're getting close to the end, I find that there's a many more long chapters left that have, after reading, a conclusion I don't find it too necessary to extend up to that point. And the flashbacks, as I said before, I can't really find myself getting attached to these characters so I didn't like reading them. Im disappointed I didn't like this, especially seeing all the high ratings. I think I'll drop it for now.

A good read. The plot is a bit repetitive like other QT novels with OP lead.

Spoiler

I don't understand why the Lord God has to hide the ML's identity tho? Won't it help raise the emotion energy and make MC want to stay when revealing it?

I never met two people who deserve each other so much. Probably the first system and host romance that I actually genuine felt so much emotion for. It was real, there was sadness in the tragedy and joy when they met again. It's was a whole roller coaster and I felt the up and downs deeply because the emotional story from their youth ended by death and the 10 years wait left me in tears and anticipation of their every moment together.

Each world and their shou has their own story and I do feel more emotionally connected more than other because of their different stories. So they all gave me different flavors and different kind of feel. There's even some redeemable scums and I love the author for including them, not all scums are unrecyclable! It just adds a different flavor to the novel and it's pleasant surprise. Also the facts that Shous can come back and ahem change their positions* is very intriguing.

MC I love him so much he's know himself so well, he knows how to act like others. He's so flexible but he doesn't feel fake and it feels he's just been so genuine to himself and he's feelings. He has different sides to him, he can be kind in his own unique way, but he can also be cruel and merciless to the scums of the world. He's quick to his feet, calculates every move and never allow himself to be dealt with unjust. He's playful and yet mature, he can be coquettish to ML, he says all these outlandish things but you can never find fault with him. You just can never hate him! So you choose to love and adore him because he deserve it all.

ML bless him, the way he follows MC all the way, even after his death and never stray from his own character no matter what happened to him, deserve all the respect there is. His feelings are the healthiest I seen from an obsession point of view. He knows when to approach and knows when to retreat. He always cared about how MC feels first above all, it's never forced and unconditional pampering, its not brainless, it's just tacit understanding and so wonderful to feel their connection with each other when reading their interactions.

The last world has me a bit disappointed. Not going to lie I was expect alot more fire works and life and death struggle with Voldermort. (in ref to MC's favourite b... hehe) . BUT THERE CAN ONLY BE 5 STARS FOR THIS NOVEL. The emotions I felt worth every star, I enjoyed the relationship between MC and ML far too much, their story is just too tragic and also beautiful in same wave Please go ahead read this novel and enjoy it.

Auu I really liked this novel at first. The love song on ice (?) arc was really great and enjoyable too but throughout the novel there are alot of flashbacks which could get annoying since I just want to read the current situation. Now the reason I said liked and not like is because of the next arc. I personally do not have a nice experience with ABO (omegaverse) and I just genuinely hate the concept of it so I'm going to drop it here.

There might be some sensitive topics... more>> here and there, such as abuse etc in some chapters so if you're sensitive to those topics idk what to tell you.

The translations are really smooth and nice. The translator did an amazing job on it and is very easy and understandable 9/10 translations. <<less

I love this novel so much! It's definitely one of my favorites for many reasons, the characters, the character development, the humor, the plot, the setting, everything really! It's not something that can be finished quickly but it benefits from it, there's been many times where a chapter ended on a tense moment and I just had to keep reading. The chapters seemed to fly by and it there was never a sense of it dragging on too long. Honestly I wish some of the worlds and characters were explored... more>> a bit more. Honestly I can't wait for the rest of the chapters to be translated. I might even camp out until all of them are and just reread it! <<less

(I am usually not good with implications, context clues, social cues, or any really. Point is: I'm a clueless b*tch. So there might be criticisms I have missed the opportunity to address or if there are any situations in the novel that are poorly handled. Thus, I'll try my best to not talk about things I am unsure of.)

I have so much love for this novel. I remember reading the first six chapters and breaking down sobbing from every emotion my neurotransmitters could possibly conjure lmao.

Nonetheless, in my... more>> humble and brittle opinion: this novel is beyond comparison. The dialogue, the chemistry, the nitty little details of their past integrated into scenes, the well-paced switch of tone from suspense to drama to identity discovery tension. The build-up of emotion. The way it coats you in unbridled anger in so few words. The self-introspection that occurs in every arc. Chef's kiss.

I feel every single one of my organs curl inside everytime this novel has pushed me in whichever way it chose to. And every single time I think, "World-hopping has reached new heights." Lol

This has been a great sort of satirical play on the usual tropes that occur in the novels of this genre. Although some of the same plot devices and cliches still exist, there is definitely a new element added in as well, every flip of a chapter feels new and unfamiliar.

The way the characters are and the way in which they act are perfectly fleshed out, their view of the world gives us a beautiful lense of how us ourselves could be better and how much we miss when we don't look at a bigger picture, at every corner or crevice, at every perspective.

From a main character who is reminiscing his own feelings of grief and loss and a lead who struggles to rediscover himself and remember what he deems to forget, there are absolutely no words to describe how much they had meant to me in the measly time I've allowed myself to be doused in this novel.

Nothing is solved at a drop of a hat, opportunities are often earned and rarely given, and love is a precious thing that often requires pain and sacrifice.

If I were to live another life, I hope I'd get to use it to read this novel as if it's the first time.

Spoiler

(Apologies if this doesn't sound cohesive or coordinated, I just word vomitted everything. Sorry for the untimely wording as well, I was just very excited to leave a review upon rediscovery of this novel in my lists.)

This is really a unique novel.

Firstly I would like to say I do not recommend this novel if you are interested in a hot or heavy romance. The main couple in this novel experiences a slow burn romance. Emphasis on slow... You know the truth of their situation well before they both do and then have to painfully watch as they dance around each other missing clues and etc. I find this aspect kind of frustrating and not too interesting. However on the other hand, they are truly made... more>> for each other so I am still rooting for them.

What really impressed me in this novel is the complex world building and multiple plots. There are plots within plots. And then an overarching plot. And all of it is woven together somehow seamlessly. Furthermore, this story is one of those stories where the main character transmigrates to several different places/has multiple world missions. Yet all of the worlds and premises are wonderfully unique. Many of them play with existing tropes and storylines but they all have a very novel perspective and twist. I am always looking forward to how the main character will bring a new spin on his situation.

Quick Remarks on Different Arcs so far: "Genius Cannonfodder's Counterattack Record" is in a modern setting and a unique take on a typical modern revenge story. "Getting Rid of that Bigshot" is also a modern setting with an interesting exploration of racism and domestic violence. "Love Song on Ice" takes place in the figure skating world and has themes of exploring where one should draw their motivation from. "I Hear I'm a Battle God" is the most omegaverse story I have ever read. "The Cycle of Karma, What Goes Around Comes Around" was a truly impressive horror world which I found both fascinating and scary. Really scary. "Raising a Big Cat in the Apocalypse" really explores the meaning of humanity. I will say though in this arc I was really dissatisfied with the revenge,
Spoiler

the designated "scum gong" of this arc genuinely just didn't understand humanity due to his poor upbringing yet through the arc he goes through an amazing character development discovering what being human is and what it is like to build connections with people. Except in the end he turns into a robot basically. I was really disappointed because the whole point of his growth was to learn emotions and being human and prove that he isn't heartless like A.I. only for him to turn into A.I. in the end... At least the A.I. in this world is really advanced and capable of developing an equivalent of feelings. But it was really disappointing.

[collapse]
"System vs. System" is a very novel take on xianxia. The author is truly talented on working with any genre I really enjoyed the stories themselves.

There is also a lot of music woven into the story as the main character is always referencing different songs, so I feel like my knowledge of Chinese musicians has really increased lol.

But anyways, this is a very unique novel I do recommend it just for the novel experience. <<less

I can only say that this novel certainly and absolutely exceeded my expectations, considering that it has a high rating and the reviews were all positive. Man, reading this novel is like riding a rollercoaster, one moment you're laughing, then the next your heart is breaking with your eyes tearing up.

Unlike most QT novels, wherein we are only given a short introduction about the world and the characters, the author in this one really took their time to establish the world and the characters, but also not to the point... more>> that it is slow-paced and boring. Also, I really love how this novel is not only focused on face-slapping, but also dwells on what and how the shous could've done to avoid their past miserable fate. Moreover, the original owners of the bodies were given thorough and detailed background that I was even attached to them and was extremely hesitant to leave their world and move on to the next arc. The side characters were also very well written. What I also like is that there were scum gongs who had character development by the end of the arc, so that every arc is not so repetitive.

Now, moving on to the characters. CXC is so naughty and mischievous, but not to the point of being annoying and childish. What I love about CXC is that he can be mature and ruthless when needed, but he can also be a mischievous, endearing, sweet baby who needs to be protected. Furthermore, I also like how CXC analyzes the situation and knows if a character deserves to be pitted or not and how he deeply cares for the body of the original owners. As for the ML, well, he's different from those other overbearing and rude ML's. Our ML here is very mature, kind, sweet, indulgent and pampering, in short, he's perfect (ideal ML). Their chemistry is top-notch, their banter and interaction is funny and sweet, I can really sense their love for each other.

Overall, this novel is definitely a must read, even if you're not into QT novels. Also, I would like to thank the translators for their efforts in translating this and giving us a chance to read this masterpiece. <<less

I'm sad to give this 3 stars too, but overall the pace is bad.

The concept is revolutionary but there are some small inconsistencies at the start which continue to be an itch from then on.

The problem of having a good couple directly unrelated with the mission world is that: you just want the mission worlds to be over quickly if it's not especially good. However good job to the author for scattering romantic progression in the mission worlds.

Some worlds are good and have good... more>> pace though, but there are many times that it became a chore to read. For me, the only saving grace at such time is that the translation is good. That's why I don't want to read them if it's an MTL version. I rather just read spoiler or skimmed until the most important part.

But I'll still nominate the couple of this story as the sweetest pair which persist through tragedy (I'll also nominate the couple from 'Mist' for example). Also perhaps one of the sweetest ML ever.

Spoiler

But in my opinion the ML is too quick to show his hot attraction towards MC (to the readers) while MC wasn't aware of his identity yet. There is an instance where his thoughts feel too r*pey for his character setting (I'm not talking about apocalypse arc btw, it's really hot). But I understand that we're all adult here and it's normal to feel that way towards your love interest. But I think the author shouldn't show it too much to the readers, because they weren't together (again I don't mean apocalypse arc, no regrets here) . Also a strange point: the ML hasn't really recovered his memory at that time but his feeling already developed as if its decade old, just because he 'knew' that he used to love him. But 'knowing' and 'feeling' are two different things. I guess the feeling persist through amnesia, but I thought it's not the concept the author want to take. Well maybe it is.

[collapse]

The romance and tragedy are gold, which are enough to make this novel a 5 star in many readers' heart.

But overall I think this novel only deserve a 4.5 star or a bit lower than that because we still need to take execution for consideration, so I give 3 stars to balance it out.

However scratch rating, this novel is still definetely a must read for danmei lovers. Although it's not perfect, there are a lot of things to take from it. This will change your perspective especially regarding the concept of QT (quick transmigration), how beautiful romance can be, and how sweet an ML can be.

I haven't said anything regarding the MC, but he's perfect! One of the most loveable and must protected existance in the entire danmei novel I've read. <<less

I don't usually give ratings to novels I haven't finished (unless I dropped it and want to review it), but this one is such a delight to read. Also taking a break reading til at least the current arc is done so I can binge read. I love the translations and I don't want to fry my brain with mtl (at least for this one).

I'm also not a huge fan of QT novels, but this, this one really hooked me I've been reading it for days now. The characters, both... more>> MC and ML are lovable, especially the MC I love him so much. The ML is also one of those rare pure and nice MLs, supportive and protecting the MC. Other characters are also enjoyable, for whatever screen time they have.

The arcs, wow, I love them. The face slapping is delish, and the delivery is spot on, plus the MC also not only fulfills the face slap, but helps pave the way for the og body to live a better life after. (my fave is the supernatural/horror arc tho)

As for villains, well, they get what they deserve.

Tl;dr: 10/5 WOULD RECOMMEND.

Ps: I really hope 009 have the pig brain roll in a massive dump of salt and pepper, sauté it in butter and garlic, then yeet it off to an interstellar world and present it as a gift to the bug alien race as an offering. Then have the main god from that fear collecting world take over as the big boss, since he seems infinitely better.

Pps: petition to have Xiaochi absolutely destroy all the scum in each world at first try. Like have one nuked into orbit, or another run over by his car. Oh wait it's completed now... ah well. <<less

This novel is amazing.

I read the last 130 chapters or so via MTL because I was so desperate to read more (but it's not very MTLable, esp wuxia and ancient arc) and I loved the whole journey, from start to finish.

Trust me, if you like the system genre, then this is novel that you won't want to miss.

P. S. I have my individual reactions to major chapters floating around somewhere that I'll update when I get the time ;-;

Its a pity that people who have read only a few chapters give such bad ratings for a novel I consider to be maybe the best QT I've read. This novel has everything that I love. First of all MC is a badass I love him seriously he is the best. ML is again no words just awesome. So cute, so considerate... It still isn't fully translated yet I couldn't help rushing here to give my 5 stars lol. The way MC valued the hosts and considered their emotions as... more>> a top priority was so beautiful like the way he respected everyone's wishes and just got rid of that scums was the best. Perhaps I'll write a more detailed review once this finishes but for now I wanna express the parts I loved. First, I love the drama with that big brain or lord god or whatever you say. I love how the MC notices the schemes of him with all that committing su*cide thing and everything. Won't go in detail but the part where MC just spoke about how all the scum boyfriends shared one point in common really enlightened me I was like wowww really so well-thought. Second, the arcs are so far really interesting and different from common clichés. ML's identity or the systems like everything is so unique. I really enjoy reading this novel waiting for the arcs to be translated is torture : (

small note1: It's not my place to talk but the part where the author used racial slurs was a bit too much. There was no need to go that far like I know it was to emphasize on how big of a jerk that guy was but still, there was no need for that

small note2:sometimes the author forgets some parts but I mean we are all human beings its normal to forget thing. Translators (thank you a lottt) usually write on those parts. The translation is amazing thank you translators and editors for your hard work 💗💖💕

This one of the best transmigration novel I've read and really loves the pacing in the story and romance btw the MC and ML.
