Story is good, but often I find myself thinking that there isn't really much development happening when it comes to the relationship between the main heroine and the MC.

Spoiler

The hero, Stardus (there is no T for reasons explained in the story), has been teetering on the edge of yandere for what feels like the longest time now. Every so often another event happens where you think "ah, so here's where it happens!"... but then after it seems the author pretends we are just that little bit closer. I'm not sure how the comments under each chapter continue to have this blind faith in this finally happening, but I personally will only believe it when I see it after all this time.

[collapse]

Also the TL has either become MTL or always was just heavily edited MTL. In either case it seems they have stopped giving any sort of sh*t towards quality control. It can be very hard to tell who is speaking when genders keep changing, and what is spoken can be borderline nonsensical without several re-reads of certain parts. Unfortunately I'm invested enough that I will keep reading but it can be pretty hard to want this sometimes. <<less

I thought the beginning (pre-triple digit chapters) were good. The translation is not polished but the concept is neat and the story/humor is a bit dumb in a fun way. It's funny seeing the main character fanboy over his favorite hero even though he has to be her archnemisis.

However, as the cast starts to grow it starts turning into a dull harem. There's no point in adding more characters if all of them only have the same single personality trait of just really liking MC. Not only that most of... more>> the side characters only get to play a non-essential roles, and rarely at that — they just don't exist in the story 95% of the time. There is a recurring theme where the point of every female character devolves from being a heinous villain or noble hero into a girl groveling for MC's attention. While not as blatant, it happens for for the main hero Stardust too, which is especially disappointing. The novel builds her up as this unmovable pillar of justice who would never bow down to evil, and yet she loses hope and despairs multiple times while yearning for MC to save her.

The author spends way too many sentences explaining character thoughts and pretty much anything.

This story is also victim to this weird self-sacrificial bullsh*t where the Main Character coughs up blood every time he uses his power to help people.

It's really a shame. I like these silly comedy type stories. <<less

What a fun read!

The story, the humor, the drama, and the misunderstanding *french kiss* very nice. The story is about our MC Dain transmigrated into his favorite comic book world and slowly becoming this big villain and arch nemesis of his favorite hero, Stardus. However, secretly he also made sure that no tragedy befall Stardus and also make sure he's giving her a hard time so that she can grow strong. Using he's comic book knowledge, he predicted future event, recruited other tragic villains (by saving them and make them... more>> join his harem-i mean villain group!) and occasionally kill off despicable villain.

Now if you read other review the MC is a bit... well... insane, yes he is willing to mu*der people but the people he kills are villains who already have (or going to have, but he prevented it) lots of body count, he never kills innocent people, heck he even made an effort to make sure his act of villainy cause the least harm and zero casualty (which become a plot device later).

But the main appeal of this story is Dain relationship with the main heroine, Stardus. Both of them start off pretty low profile, Dain being a medium rank villain and Stardus a medium rank hero (she's actually already pretty high rank but Korea the place they're in has an overall low rank hero rating) but then slow raise to this national high rank villain and hero while slowly through their confrontation the story and drama unfold. The relationship between them are the main hook, but the relationship between Dain and his "family" and friends are the other hook.

See, Dain is a bit like Cale from tr*sh of the Count Family, he thinks he can just get away from saving someone life and give them a better life they can't possibly imagine while pushing his own body to the limit without facing consequences? No sir, you don't just disappear from some head and heart after that. This also apply to Stardus, again he became a villain just for her, she is his only light in this strange world, and you bet he will take a bullet for her. And oh boy he did, and lemme tell you, you just dont "become a villain in someone eyes" when you do that. Stardus internal struggle between trying to figure out his arch nemesis motive eventually become an obsession, and so hence the title.

Its a fun read, though the first 30 chapters does feel like the author is trying to figure out the vibe of the novel, as the story has alot of reference and copy scenario from other movie (like the Batman dark knight) but after that its pretty consistent.

Also, Mango is the best flavor!.... You'll get it once you read it <<less

It is quite fun a fun read, although the writing is nothing to write home about. It is a sort of "turn your brain off and have fun" kind of novel. This novel is basically is if Joker was obsessed with Superman instead of Batman. The crazy MC is basically Joker in that he is a wild card and obsessed with the hero. The novel even takes a page out of Joker's book in his first scheme. The heroine/hero is basically Superman but a woman.

While decently amusing, after 200 chapters, this novel can basically be summarised as follows:

MC = Ultra Simp.

FL = potential yandere.

... more>> Progress = Zero.

Why?

Because the author is a hardcore c*ck blocker and both MC and FL are denser than neutron stars.

They'll both keep musing and wondering why they think about each other, always skirting on the edge of enlightenment, but the author will promptly pill them back with the s*upidest excuses.

And it goes on for TWO HUNDRED f*cking CHAPTERS, all while the MC keeps building up a massive group of girls around him, (strangely never a male potential villain, hmmm...) and you just want to grab that f*cking ret*rd and shake his skull off and yell at him to focus on the main girl. <<less

It's decent, nothing spectacular but funny enough for me to continue reading. However, the tags are a lie (I don't see the yandere and obsession part) and the story is becoming repetitive and translation took a nosedive all of a sudden. Where is this story going? It's what I want to know, but I don't think I'll stick around to find out.

This is sort of a mixed bag in that it reminded me about jokers relationship with batman if joker was a superfan boy who was reincarnated into gotham in the past while having read everything about the batman universe so he knows everything and simps super hard on batman.

It can be quite funny at times to read about how far the MC is willing to simp for his favorite super heroine. At the same time there is often little to no explanation about what is happening in the world outside... more>> of the MC for instance in the first few chapters saying he was just your normal everyday korean except that after being isekai'd into his favorite super hero comic. He doesn't shy away from exploding the heads of villains, writing love letters in their blood, kidnap and threaten to kill thousands of civilians with explosives and more just to make his favorite heroine appear more heroic and remove any danger she might encounter.

Then as the story goes on more and more girls fall for the MC who pretty much as mentioned only or well mostly simps for the heroine.

In the end I would say the story is pretty funny in a somewhat morbid way but I don't recommend binge reading this since it's pretty one way tracked with little depth. <<less

Don't usually write reviews, but all I can say about this story is that its quiet interesting. Is Egostick obsess with Stardust?. Yes. 100% but not in a romantic way, but he's her idol way. Think about it. He was thrown to this world suddenly, knowing the crazy villains and the world-ending scenarios that will come and he do can something about it. He's part crazy. If anything it's rather hand waved how semi-insane he is for allowing himself to suffer through all of this so Stardust can have an... more>> actually pretty smooth time until the main story ends.. But he have the power. He have the means to make it easy for his idol.. So he does it.. Egostick came in this world where he had nothing and because he had nothing that he sees worshipping Stardust as something he can do and from how he describes her story and her world. It's a horrible world that is plagued with Villains and the world is in flames. Hence why some of his acts are thought of as heroic.

The best thing about this series is the slow burn of obsession. Obsession that Shin Haru (Stardust) is going through. She's not dumb. She's actually insightful and has actual institution. Her super senses almost discovers Egostick's identity a few times throughout the story and she's rational enough that the most satisfying thing about this series is her going through mental gymnastics about Egostick. You can understand where her obsession is coming from too. Because when she's in trouble and is about to give. Egostick is always there to lift her out. And even though she's disturbed by the killings that involves dangerous villain. She understands it because of how dangerous said villains were to the city she's protecting. Egostrick's presence is basically what makes things rather comedic and without his continuous presence, things are f*cking bleak. It also doesn't help that Egostick's intentions are seen as romantic when in truth he just wants Shin Haru to be strong enough to breeze through difficult villains and then retire.

It's a fun story and so far its been pretty good <<less

I would like to describe this novel as "if supergirl had a joker-like villain to help her grow both physically and mentally". The characters while not detailed, are surprisingly characterized and not bland at all. The story is decently entertaining, and that's its sole purpose imo, not deep or anything, but just decently fun for you to get into while you're free. The only thing that bugs me is that it skips a lot of details and that can be somewhat annoying.

I'm kinda skeptical about this web novel when I was reading the first 25 chapters or so because it's so cringes. But as time goes by, It doesn't feel cringes anymore, feels like the writers improved somehows, and finally, I ended up pretty much immersed in this wn. The number of subtle jokes, the pun words, the memes, and the reaction of the mass, keep me entertained.

Even If this work wasn't a at the very good level since there are many flaws (lack of characterization, too much convenient, weird stardust... more>> development, lack of power's explanation, political movement, weird PoV, some threatical shows actually boring as hell in the beginning), it's still pretty much enjoyable. If you want some charismatic protagonist and funny protagonist then I can recommended this. <<less

I don't get that high rating people are giving this novel, but I guess most people either click 5 or 1. MC is so dense that I had to check few times if I wasn't reading novel from JP by mistake. He's collecting girls like pokemons and that's it, they exist just to be pretty flowers on shelf because he's simping for main heroine and I would be fine with that BUT he just runs away while she try to confront him every time. And in later chapters fMC is... more>> only one that

Overall I think its not bad novel, a bit too much same formula over and over again with slightly stronger characters and new "prize" in form of girl that MC will never really care about. But that sorry excuse of mc's romance development at pace of disabled snail got me really riled up. Why choose that title if even after 3/4 of novel any romance development didn't go further than a single step. And what got me really angry is we had few chapters when

turn your brain off fun.

it's a lighthearted story that you would appreciate more if you don't think too much about the details.

if you like misunderstandings, harem, and romance with super powers then you might like this

... more>> however there is one thing i'd like to complain about.

at the latter half of the novel, a lot of the heroines dont seem to get enough spotlight, some doesnt get enough back story and some dont even have a lot of screen time. It's a shame since there was build up in the beginning but ends up not being explored, for example
Spoiler

icicle had a small arc in the beginning and it seems like the author wanted to deepen their relationship more, however it just ended up being shallow and stale at the end

the best part about this novel, I think, is the chat interactions and comments. Especially the fans shipping the heroes with our lord god mango stick. Watching chat lose their minds when they see mango stick with a female character is hilarious

translation is fine, there's a couple mistakes here and there (like 'he' and 'she' being mixed up) but its not detrimental to the reader experience <<less

At first the title doesn't seem like it makes sense because the protagonist is basically a Stardus simp to comical levels and is always calling for her attention and whatnot, so you wonder why the story is named the way it is. But over time, you realize that the protagonist literally enjoys her as a comic book character. He doesn't have any actual interest in her as a person, only as a kind of project to work on and a provider of entertaining fights.

On the other hand, Stardus herself gets... more>> more and more focused on him because she can't really figure out what he's doing or why because his behavior, speech and public persona do not align and responding to his apparent obsession with her. She gets upset when he doesn't appear or makes trouble that doesn't involve her directly, which only makes her obsess over him even more. Honestly, it doesn't even really feel romantic, just that her life outside of being a hero is kind of empty and she's fundamentally a very simple person, so when a complex recurring obstacle appears she doesn't know how to handle it or emotionally detach. So she just thinks about him more and more. It's actually pretty interesting and amusing.

So that part is all cool. If I had to raise a complaint it would probably be that most of the female cast don't really seem to serve any particular purpose? The hacker girl fits in well with the story occupying a role somewhere between little sister and younger girl with a hopeless crush on an older guy. The hostage girl also helps balance out the overall dynamic as a kind of team mom. The rest of them seem to exist purely on a functional level because their powers are needed to advance the plot the way the author wants and otherwise don't really matter much apart from maybe having a crush on the protagonist and maybe not. I'm hoping the cast size stays where it's at because I think it's still just barely at a functional level, but if any more girls get added then I think they're all going to fail as characters because they won't have the necessary screentime. Which is unfortunate because they mostly have pretty distinct personalities and aren't bad characters, it's just that they don't fit well into the story. <<less

Currently on nmlt but I won't add spoilers.

Personally I think it's unfair to just yell 'Simp!' at the MC and leave it at that.

Putting a spoiler warning just in case but I don't think there's anything worthy of it.

Spoiler

The heroine lives in a comic book world that is *fiercely* against her. S-ranked villains constantly pop up and massacre thousands of civilians, A- ranked heroes are overworked and lower ranked heroes usually end up quitting due to police not helping, the general public failing them and also being overworked. If a hero doesn't save a civilian they are hated along with the villain for 'failing'. And inside this world, you have the MC who knows and has read the pain the heroine will feel.

Knowing this and being an avid reader, he becomes a villain to both train the heroine and kill any future S-ranked villains. He has two powers: telekinesis and teleportation but that doesn't make him op, the opposite in fact.

Since his powers don't develop in one direction it makes both of them weaker forcing him to either plan ahead or overexert himself to the point of coughing up blood. I'm the type of reader who prefers weak mc's as a-posed to an op MC that can just casually power through everything so this was a nice surprise for me.

My point is, I prefer to see mc's actions not as him being a simp but being compassionate and trying to save the main character of the story he likes the pain of growth without delaying the growth itself.

[collapse]

I think one of this novels greatest strengths is the character's interactions with each other. Especially Egostream (a collection of pitiful villains the MC saves over the story) so if you enjoy the idea of a 'makeshift family' this has it pretty good.

Another thing this novel does really well is the 'streams' themselves. The MC is a showman, his villain's personality is pretty crazy and bombastic with that being its charm.

For example,

Spoiler

He interviews a man accused of being him/ his villain persona while floating in the air it goes something like:

"So I heard you're Egotistic on TV today, is that true?

"Hee... Yes?"

Floating in the air, looking down, terrified, he looked back in bewilderment after hearing my words.

He seemed to have come to his senses shortly after, looking at me as if I was the most unfair person in the world.

"No... ! What the hell are you talking about right now with Egotistic himself in front of me... !"

"Yes? I'm just a person who did an Egotistic cosplay? Isn't Egotistic you?"

[collapse]

And this brings me to one of the best parts of the story, the stream comments.

It's purely my own opinion but I find them to be hilarious.

The MC himself is pretty dense when it comes to public opinion with him usually being confused why he's so popular despite being a terrorist. <<less

Don’t listen to negative reviews on this one. If you feel like the first couple of chaps arent interesting press on when it gets going its fun. About the MC being a simp it is kinda true but its not that bad, mainly because if hes not acting to that degree the plot would literally not happen. Its a novel about yandere hero so ofc when shes in the making he has to put in effort. Worth it man.

When it wants you to laugh, it makes you laugh. When it wants you to be sad, it makes you sad. I did get teary at some parts.
