Li Cheng is an omega, but he is thoroughly like an alpha.

He regards teachers like friends, is unrivalled in the swimming pool and also has 80 betas as his lil’ brothers.

One day, Li Cheng loudly declares ⸺ He’s determined to win the campus male god alpha Xiao Yiheng over. He must become his!

“Xiao Yiheng is smart, handsome, and tall! Moreover, he has long legs and a perky butt. His strong XX capability can be seen with just a glance! Only this kind of alpha is worthy of me!”

Long-legged, perky-butt, and has strong XX capability Xiao Yiheng: “……”

To show his determination, Li Cheng proclaims that he would give him a love bento every morning.

The next day, Li Cheng stayed up all night playing games and can’t get up.

The third day, Li Cheng danced the night away with others and can’t get up.

The fourth day, Li Cheng fought with the gang from the neighbouring school and can’t get up.

Then came the fifth day… The sixth day… The seventh day…

Just when Li Cheng is just about to forget his plan of courting the male god, Xiao Yiheng obstructs him inside one of the locker room’s cubicles before his swimming training.

“Xiao Yiheng, w-what do y-you want with Laozi?”

“Because I was waiting for your lunch box, I haven’t eaten breakfast for a whole week.” Xiao Yiheng had a cold expression. With a fake smile, he continued, “But… Your pheromone smells quite delicious.”

Feeling a lil sad that this story is over. Not many words to say...I love that there were so many extras in this story, since I often have to leave very unsatisfied after the conclusion. Like, what about their future kid? What are they like 5 years into the future? 10 years? Big thank you to the author and amazing translator for providing us with this story about a bright and strong MC who loved and inspired the ML to seek his own freedom and happiness. Our MC is so... more>> strong yet so adorable with the ML. Love you both. <<less

I really liked this novel; there wasn't any unnecessary drama, and it was funny and sweet. I wouldn't say that the plot is complicated; the story itself is really simple, but the characters are likable. I loved that neither MC nor ML were typical omega or alpha. How they acted and their career choices were different, and because they weren't stereotypical characters, it was interesting to read about them. I liked that the author told us about MC and ML's backgrounds and their stories so we could understand them and... more>> their characters better. I also liked that MC and ML have completely different characters, but their relationship is great because they love, respect, and understand each other. They supported each other's choices even when others doubted them. It's an ABO story, but problems that are mentioned there, for example, sexism or other kinds of discrimination, are described very well and resonate with modern society and the problems we face today. Because of that, it felt more realistic. In general, it's really pleasant reading. <<less

3.8, rounded down because I think it's overrated.

Not sure why this is rated so high but the common sentiment seems to be that they like how the omega isn't portrayed as weak. I don't think anything else is really worth mentioning other than this. It's just an okay novel that doesn't glorify abuse.

When I first read this, I was totally hooked ngl though, because of how clear the descriptions were and the refreshing writing style. But when the translator changed from bobeep to chipoholic, the quality just dropped. I think... more>> the second translator was using an MTL first before making corrections to speed up the translation process, especially could be seen where they forgot to edit a name in a certain part (sometimes the MTL translates the names too), and this led to translations that were far too literal. There was this part in particular where the ML apparently replied in two words but what he said was four in English?? And there was a note explaining that in the raws, it was two characters---is it really that hard to change either the translation to 'your body' or from 'two' to 'four'. There were many other parts too where the translator leaves things very literal and only offers the English equivalent in the notes. It should be the other way around.

And the xenophobia.

I read a 2-star review by someone else mentioning this and I wanted to disagree with them. I really wanted to. Since this is rated so high, it must not be so bad, right? I was sorely disappointed. Name-calling is not cool under any circumstances. What made it worse is that the author didn't just use stereotypical descriptions for the other race (Australian in this case and the person in question was a bastard so it was slightly more acceptable), it extended to their own race too (Chinese). Yellow skinned, black-haired, black-eyed?? I'm sorry but I don't feel particularly yellow? And it's slightly red-orangey-brown eyes, thank you.

The backstories of the characters were honestly a bit too far-fetched too. I feel the MC's background is more believable in comparison to the ML's. At first, the ML's background, to me, was deeply relatable; especially the part where they installed CCTVs in their own house to monitor him, sometimes it feels like it's better to not have parents at all, yes. But then it extended to the mom using a tray of food as a prop (acting like she cared but if she really did, she wouldn't be punishing him etc. Etc.), then throwing it at him, and the dad yelling 'starve him like a dog until he obeys', and it was revealed that they were both thoroughly corrupt. I feel like the author intentionally added those parts so readers will clearly know who to hate and they took it too far. I'm 80% certain that these are the author's personal feelings that she's venting through fiction so it was really too laughable when the ML supposedly hired a hacker to use the CCTV against his parents, kept a full account of everything his parents spent on him, and repaid them by selling his godly paintings. The repayment part is probably a comment sentiment among kids with helicopter parents, and I'm one of them, but because I'm one of them, I know how lofty a dream it is. I'm 20 and still haven't managed to earn a single cent. The things the ML's doing in here are probably what the author will likely never achieve. It's a very childish blame game, and hopefully, the author will come to realize in time that parents were also kids once and they usually become shitty parents because of their own shitty parents.

A Certain Someone by Musuli explores parenting styles in a much better way. <<less

AHHHHH I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE HOW I ENJOYED READING THIS NOVEL 😩❤️

This novel might be your typical ABO school life novel but damn the author did a very good job at writing this! The personalities of MC and ML are fleshed out and I love love loveeeee the details of their past, their school life as well as their life after retiring.

I can't find more words to describe this so my final say is just this: THIS IS A MUST READ!!! YOU WILL NO T BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Sweetly done with great characters who can stand on their own. I also liked that it went into their backstories and some of the darkness they deal with which explain more about who they are and how they came to be. I'm one who usually doesn't love lots of extras and I tend to skim them, but I really liked these extras and the parts of them reminiscing made me tear up.

To be honest, I put off reading this for a looong long time coz when I read the synopsis, a alpha-like omega isnt my cup of tea at all..

I WAS WRONG.

I totally fell inlove with the characters. I love the MC and ML, I love their dynamics. I just love everything about them.

This is a sign that you should read it.

I feel like crying when I closed this novel because I really like it so much. Thank you CG, translator for translating this novel.

Ngl when I first started reading it I thought I'd just read a few chapters then skip to the end but nope My impatient self really liked this, the translation was great and although the ML at first may SEEM like a total jerk, he really isn't, this novel seriously made me laugh and the ML and mc's relationship is great

But I guess I can understand why other people rated it that low. Tbh if I wasn't in a good mood this whole week and I just finished all of... more>> my exams, resulting in my brain going on a vacationa. I wouldn't have finished this because the MC and ML at the START made me feel like "Jeez MC is srsly just s*upid, and rash, seriously why the hecc" meanwhile ML for me was like "wow that's amazing another super duper op ML who the MC would probably always depend on and is also cold and handsome 😐"

the comedy was the thing that really made me stay and I'M GLAD IT DID this was such a great novel that although I couldn't really empathise with the Omega's being discriminated against bc we obviously don't have that.

This novel is really full of fluff and sweetness especially at the end although you'll probably need to turn your brain off here. <<less

MUST READ!!

This is so cute. It’s technically my first ABO BL novel to finish and it will definitely have a special place in my heart. You should definitely read this. It doesn’t drag and is able to keep your interests from start to finish! Also it’s definitely NOT a cliché. The way both MC and ML dote and show their love to each other is so cute and other times really hot!! I loved the way the way they supported and helped each other to overcome their problems. But the... more>> way they meet each other is so cute and for sure memorable. <<less

Ahhhhhhh... I cried at the end, it was so beautiful, such a lovely journey. The best omegaverse story I read.

It has been sitting on my to read list for a long time because I am usually put off by the 'sports' and 'tsundere' tag, but... but... it is totally worthy. I laughed so much in the most part that I almost got wrinkles. Their romance is healthy and youthful, and it was quite good seeing them chasing their dreams. The extras are a must read. Must read!

This was a very sweet, somewhat short, novel about a sweet and wild omega and stoic alpha

Very minor spoilers, but spoilers nonetheless:

Spoiler

The description isn't within a short timeline, but is stretched out. Like some scenes will be found later and they aren't just given to you in the beginning or all at once. It's a very sweet slow burn with an oblivious but talented shou and a stoic, but loving ml. The author uses timeskips without really explicitly stating that the time skips which I sort of appreciated. Along with this is that background characters will still be seen throughout the book, though some not as explicit/obvious as others.

[collapse]

I loved this book and read it in like 3 days. The translation in very good and I love the comments of both the author and translator. I recommend this book if you want fluff and dog food shoved in your face with a sprinkle of angst and jokes. <<less

Rating: 3/5- This was average story telling.

I think after reading the story of ShaoWang, it’s very hard to not feel the mediocrity of the MC and ML in this novel. I was bored after the first 40 chapters but persisted until chapter 90 where I gave up and just resorted to skimming until the end.

There’s really nothing memorable about this story but it’s also not a terrible novel in its genre. It just feels like the author tried too hard but didn’t really get across all the ideas she wanted... more>> in an enjoyable way.

There are many wonderful concepts but the way they were put together just didn’t work for me. I didn’t particularly love the main couple, it didn’t feel like they had much chemistry or maybe the author just didn’t write it to come across that way. There was also hardly any s*xual chemistry at all. The aloofness wasn’t even funny, it was just bland.

Meh... I would have given up much earlier but it’s a quick read really. The racism portion at the end was very poorly written, it will frustrate many people with views on equality and racism.

Overall, try it if you want a simple ABO read without much thinking, otherwise give it a skip. Finding good ABO novels are really hard so good luck <<less

Gah, this is so sweet! I really love this... I really have no words to even explain... the main text runs for 100 ish chapters, and even in the middle of reading, I thought it was quite a lot, especially for a simple high school romance, but somehow, the author made things even better, the more you read. However, my favorite is the extras... as how extras should be, full of fluff and minimal plot. It's literally cotton candy flavored dog food. Seeing how their romance progressed after the main... more>> text and their future, it leaves such a sweet but bitter flavor, bitter being that there's not enough of Li Cheng and Xiao LiHeng's romance! Never thought I'd enjoy this, seeing the plot is a little cliche, but god dang, it's good! <<less

I love it.

There is a nice dynamic between the couple, and good development in their life and love.

I don't understand why some people said that there is imbalance in power between them, or that the alpha, Xiao Yiheng was the typical male who thinks omega are easily subdued.

... more>> The author clearly set the characters with the Xiao Yiheng always so cold, an over-achiever, doesn't care much about others due to his family upbringing while the Li Cheng was always driven, sunny and arrogant in a lovable way.

Them falling in love was of no coercion, both respect each other and strives hard to achieve their goals without compromising their characters.

Overall, I don't find any fault in this novel. Oh maybe for the fact that the duck sure lives long and act too much like human 😂 <<less

first things first, I agree with everything positive anyone has to say about this novel

i have been finding this type of bl story really common in chinese novels (meaning, typically we have a school bully type shou and a perfect school grass gong) but what sets this novel apart from the others, I think, is how the author started to explore gender dynamics between the characters. Typically, we tend to see a case of "omegas oppressed because of sexism" which is a rather clear metaphor to the real world, but... more>> in this the author began to explore how different genders might interact with each other, if that makes sense? Like, in some bl novels, ive seen male alpha x male alpha which sometimes is deemed as taboo because it might be considered gay in its society (and THAT isnt something im willing to dive into) but here the ml's parents were what the author called "straight a cancer" which just meant they were blatantly favouring alphas because they thought alphas were better, and of course both of them were alphas. In such a relationship, youd think they would see each other as equals but (if I remember correctly, and I did finish this a couple of months ago) it was either they each tried to outcompete the other over who was "more alpha" and the father "won" because he made more money, or it was the mother was considered inferior because male alphas were above female alphas. I wish it had been explained more about the gender dynamics system. Also the shou MC calls the ML wife and gets all of his friends/family to call him sister in law lol <<less

This is both a really sweet and a really engaging story. It had me glued to my phone for so long. The little extras after it ends become boring to me, but they are just extras to suport the reader after the loss of a fantastic story. I give it a 4.8. That subtracted 0.2 is because it is just a really good story, not a legendary or revolutionary one.
