One day, Kim Jiho, who earns a living by pickpocketing on the street, leaves the facility he was living in after being hit by the owner of the facility. After walking on the street endlessly because he has nowhere to go, he sits down in front of the road and thinks.

If I get hit by a car and die here, it’d be good if it’s an expensive car.

While he was thinking like that, an expensive car stops in front of Kim Jiho, and the man who rides that car asks.

“Wanna hop in—If you have nowhere to go.”

Kim Jiho, who thinks there is no goodwill without hidden intention, makes up his mind and follows the man. But the man doesn’t make any demands after taking in Kim Jiho.….

Well, we're should I start...

Even though the writing is amazing, the plot had problems (for me) which made me drop it before finishing it. The plot starts perfectly. You start sympathizing with the protagonist, even though its not written how he feels or what he goes through in details (its a technique of showing, instead of telling the emotions), and you see yourself picturing things really perfectly. BUT, but...

even though I don’t have any problem with age gaps like this, this couple needed more time building up... more>> their relationship before the smut part started. It was so sudden that I had to check whether it’s a dream or not! The chemistry for s*** relationship needed time to happen. Right before the smut, I just started to feel that the MC is starting to fall in love, but for the ML, he clearly showed that he likes MC as a young friend or sth. So, I like slow paced story, where characters’ relationships are build up before s**. Personally, I felt like I was reading inter***** between an elder brother and a younger brother🥲 I gave 3 stars to the writing style, but I don’t think its worth reading because of the things I said. <<less

Not a cliché couple. While the mainstream is usually a pitiful uke meet the perfect seme, this one is the opposite. Their dynamic flow smoothly and doesn't feel forced. The MC is someone young people can relate to. Like how he's awkward, mess, and such. He doesn't want to show the bad, the lowest side of him to the one he loves. The ML on the other hand is a caring and understanding person. My favorite line from him is, "... I have to know the lowest point of you... more>> so that I can protect it."

Spoiler

I can't move on from Yeon Woojeong. He is kind of realistically good adult, although what he did in the chapter 4 before their first s*x is really questionable.

I like how he is really mature in handling Jiho. He is patient with every childish tantrum (?) Jiho made. Meanwhile, Jiho is kind of simple-minded and the way of his thinking is funny to me. They never say 'I love you' to each other, but that's not the important one in this story.

Let's not talk about the smut. It is well done. This is my first time to find an experienced straight uke who is shameless and teaches the inexperienced and innocent seme.

To put it simply, this story is about how a human being named Kim Jiho met Yeon Woojeong by chance, and how he slowly learned to accept the world and love himself. <<less

One of the best BL novel I've ever read, so different from the usual yaoi cliché. Dramatic, psychologic, intense.. And really erotic.

I'm not agree with Nienienie who says that Jiho is simple-minded and the prosecutor kind.

Spoiler

Jiho has grown up only with violence, his past is extremly dark and hard. He is very sensitive but the only feeling he knows is Anger. He is very wary, a wild child who doesnt know his own emotions (when he is sexually aroused he thinks it's a mu*der pulsion).

He doesnt understand the prosecutor way of acting, and he is both irritared and attracted to him..

On the opposite, the prosecutor is someone with education and clever but much more cold in his emotions. He cares for Jiho but his behaviour is special.. He likes making fun of him and teasing him in a childish way. He is someone patient so he won't be mad at Jiho but he has a complicated mind too, in a different way than Jiho.

Jiho is the narrator so it's much more easy for us to understand and appreciate him. The prosecutor is a bit a mystery sometimes.

Impression:

Y'all can't even fanthom the grip this story has on me. I'm talking crying shaking my fists at the sky wishing I lose my memories so I can read it again type of story. I think some parts of my brain are permanently altered after I finished reading.

Characters:

Jiho (top) is a traumatised young person, so all he knows is violence before meeting Mr Yeon. He's endearing and admirable in all his flaws and strengths. You just can't help but wish him the best on his journey. Mr Yeon... more>> (bottom, an absolute godsent angel) is a mysterious man who may appear absolutely perfect at first glance, but the more you read, the more you notice his softer, more vulnerable side. This is a story about seeing the lowest point of a person and loving them regardless.

Plot:

Relatively simple, character-driven. Very emotionally rich. There are a lot of discussions about life and its hardships, and how to overcome even the worst of them. The way both characters navigate their tentative relationship is beautifully realistic. This is a mature story. Reading it from the POV of someone as immature and inexperienced as Jiho is a treat (mostly because of how relatable he is and and how he's so down bad for Mr Yeon). The most recent chapters show their character development and it's amazing to see how far they've grown.

Smut:

Toe-curling, vein-popping, coma-inducting smut. It's mad rabbit season in here. Jiho's the luckiest man alive. I mean, Mr Yeon, goddamn.

Overall:

Truly one of a kind. I love this novel with every fiber of my being. Will reread because this particular flavor can only come once. <<less

Love this novel so much.

I was reading the manhwa (which is also amazing) and at the end of season 1 the manhwa artist talks about how much they loved the story. Something about reading another persons passion for this made me immediately need to read it - and I'm so glad that I did.

This has easily become one of my favourite stories. Watching Jio slowly open up and grow into the world around him is just so heartwarming.

The characters are so unique too, I love this dynamic and would love... more>> to read 1000 more stories just like this. Yeon Woojeong is so patient and caring, and Jio is so adorably charming, and together they make the perfect married old couple.

I love how they showed Jio's mental state as well - I'm seeing more and more stories go into characters mental health (Love History, Payback, and a few others I am currently reading), and I can't help but admire it. This is something that real people suffer from and it's interesting to see authors open up to showing this in stories (but, do not get me wrong, this is in no way a psychology textbook, these are fictional characters and aren't meant to be the standard of mental illness representation).

I also liked seeing those brief few moments where Yeon Woojeong snapped
Spoiler

like when he asked "who was the bastard who did this to you", or when he's found out about Jio's father, or when Jio ran away

, showing that although he is the gentle, caring, mature adult, he's still a man who will fiercely protect his lover.

I also enjoyed that shortly after the main story ended we got a chance to see Yeon Woojeong's perspective and how he views Jio. How they both brought light and warmth into each other's bleak lives.

-- Which brings me to another thing I would like to praise about this story - it knows when to end! I don't like to praise one thing by bringing down another, but in this case I will: so many AMAZING stories just don't know when to end! The authors drag the story out and milk it to it's last drop to the point where it is tiring to read. There have been a few stories that I swore up and down they were my favourite, until I just kept reading, and reading, and reading... and they never stopped. New plot points dragging out unnecessarily and I just wanted them to end. This one was just perfect, 13 chapters of the main plot (don't quote me on that, I'm writing this from memory) and the rest are fulfilling extras, like reading Woonjeon's POV, or seeing their domestic holiday away, or Jio making friends. All very warm and fuzzy extras that sit nicely on top of the main story so you don't feel bogged down with needless plot, but it also doesn't feel like the story is over too quickly. <<less

Aaaa!! This is just perfect! My perfect writing style, plot and character formation!!

can anyone do me a favor an recommend me something similar? Similar writing style, that expresses awkwardly their feelings and emotions, pushes u to relate and put urself in the character’s shoe and think, not just smtg clichee and fluffy

5/5 Love the novel.

I enjoyed it with the MC’s inner turmoil and how realistic it is on how one could feel.

Love both dynamics of the MC and ML. MC is hotheaded, he abruptly does what he thinks and feels, while we have the ML who’s very patient and understanding.
There are one-liners in the novel that really touched my heart.

Thank you to the author for the perfect writing & thank you to the translators who translated it perfectly!!

I like the novel. It's very realistic with MC inner thoughts, confusion, and emotions. I think every human being have these random thoughts that are uncontrollable but it's up to us to react on it or not. But with him being self aware of those thoughts then reflecting on it he then can distinguish what his true feelings are. I definitely recommend it. I wish we can see the perspective of ML's side.

not my cup of tea unfortunately. This is definitely not a problem with the novel, but I found both characters not very likable. MC is what you'd expect when you think of a small-time orphan thief, but there was nothing about him that touched me with sympathy or sympathy. Well, it was just like watching salted fish. I will now give an example from the man of the chainsaw: the MC there also lives in poverty and is not a very pleasant person, but he had clear, understandable desires, and... more>> he had coffee when they came true. What does the MC want here? Find a job when you come of age? This is more of a tactical goal than a strategic one. Will he find her and what next? In short, I was not interested in him. With ML, the situation is different. He's interesting on his own, but his chemistry with the MC just didn't work for me. Complimenting MC's looks just made me feel uncomfortable, it wasn't cute, it was creepy. So to sum it up, this novel is short enough that you can give it a try and not lose anything, but I wasn't blown away by the reading so I passed. <<less

This is a very well written and well translated novel. The MC grew up with very difficult circumstances which makes him have very low esteem. The ML is basically his angel that saved him at his lowest point in life and didn’t expect anything in return. The ML is everything to the MC. Their love for each other is very sweet which enables the MC to slowly come out of shell and make himself better. Recommended read.
