Most royal marriages are set up when the couple is young, and the fiancée is chosen for political reasons. The couple stays together unless there is a big problem.

But in the Kingdom of Catalonia, the royalty selects their partners and announces them, along with their future entourage, at the Royal Academy graduation ceremony.

Other countries’ royal families envy this system because it allows them to choose the partner they want.

Although the system is well-liked by the other countries’ royal families, there is one person who is not pleased: Catalonia’s first prince, Cyril.

He’s tall and fearless, with blond hair and blue eyes. Outstanding academic achievements. He is a promising next king, surrounded by sons and daughters of the high nobility, all with a glazed look in their eyes, saying “I want to be queen” or “I want to be a close aide.”

This made Cyril’s school life extremely difficult.

His brother Luke was wondering if there was anything he could do to assist.
Then an idea struck Luke.

A crazy idea, but if it works, it will solve Cyril’s problems once and for all.

With a grin, he said.

“Brother—I have an idea!

4 Stars

Would have liked to give this 5 stars just on the basis of the readability and flow of the writing but unfortunately not only the writing was transparent, but the story was as well. It's a short story so there is no characterization to speak of and the plot points can be seen coming from the synopsis. That said the story does a nice job of playing with the concept of "TRUE LOVE" and the choices that go into making a marriage. Overall it's a nice 15 minute read... more>> that does find yet another way to handle the Villainess themes. <<less

I think this story is good but it could be better. I'm talking about:

The relationship between FL and ML which seemed to be out of the blue because before, ML still confused about the meaning of "true love" but then not long after that, ML decided to marry FL who was his childhood friend and also secretary.

Although their relationship was predictable, I think their chemistry wasn't well built. It would be better if he slowly realized his feeling towards FL and confessed to her before announcing his decision to marry her in front of other people. It would be more touching.

Short length, clear premise, well-defined characters, well-split chapters, satisfying ending, and a moral lesson to boot?
What's this, a parable?

I want to complain, because something this good is too rare. There should be more

More like this pls.

I love short stories with satisfying endings.

Also the concepts in this story feels fresh.

The ending ties everything up nicely.

I was reading this and was hooked on finding out how the prince will reach his conclusion. 😄

Edit: seriously there needs to be more oneshot stories here. I like reading good books with minimal investments, after taking a break.

The translation and readability flow was nice. It's a quick read with the concept of "true love".

Part 3 was interesting and got to see how nobility and people really felt about how they see a person vs how they really feel about a person's position in life.

That King from another country though got duped by love. I sort of felt pity for him, but kind of saw it coming. He bousted about true love and he was the foolish one in the end.

Spoiler

I felt bad for Luke, he only got dumped because the countess liked his free time and money more, probably for books. They were perfect I thought, as I can relate as being a bookish person. But, the reason she dumped him was because he'd have less free time for books and money. I hope he finds a better love in the future, one who loves him for his time, books, research, and as a person.

I am so glad Cyril was able to find love, happiness, and those reliable and friends that stuck by his side no matter what.

I rated 4 ⭐, but I am more on a verge of giving it a 4.5 or 4.75 stars. I would give it a 5 star review. It's just that I kind of wanted more to the story, but that is just me. Although, with the cute fluff towards the end and the compassion of those who stuck by Cyril's side. I believe that the ratings would still be high for this. <<less

Cute, very well done, felt really short. Intelligently written and does a great job of showing the down to earth mindsets of the characters. I loved that Cyril was able to tell who was actually on his side but the fallout for others was sad.
Spoiler

The original idea for Cyril was to find "true love" and that didn't exactly pan out, but I liked very much how practical and realistic they were about it. It did make me a little sad though.
