“You… who are you?”

She was possessed by the villainess in the novel. When her fiancé, the crown prince, married their childhood sweetheart, Helena, she poisoned her to death. From the moment she realized she was possessed, “I” have only one goal: to escape the world in this novel. She tried to escape this world, even if it meant dying, but the world wouldn’t let her. But when she refused to follow the path of ‘Eris’ in the original story, the men who had ignored and persecuted her began to beg for her attention and affection.

“Who are you?”

Asked the priest who brought Helena back to life, and the hero who swore her eternal love.

“You have changed.”

And the Crown Prince who won Helena’s heart.

It was a new question. They didn’t even care about Eris.

She ‘the new Eris’ didn’t feel attached as time passed. She had no confidence in loving this world.

Such a unique novel and protagonist. She's isekai-ed to a novel but still thinking to go home until the very end even she knows that her world isn't perfect. Very realistic. She is consistent, eventhough she stumble on love or guilty feelings. Her flaw make her the best and the original story it self is already rotten, why would her live there?

This is one of the best novel that I can recommended to someone who very weak on up and down story, and love the story with just right romance,... more>> not too oily. I don't like too much drama and romance, so this one is just perfect dose for that <<less

The MC mentality was depressing in the new world as well as the old. At the very end it just felt like she gave up and became mad - broken and miserable. She changed to the point of being an empty shell of herself. So did she really return to her original world? Maybe a shadow of what used to be a person. Tragedy tag could not have fit any better.

Phew! This novel is such a wild ride. The hatred and determination of the FL to gtfo of novel world is carried from start to finish of the novel. Was suppose to rate this 3 stars and it's because it felt like the romance was forced almost at the end of story and it's too focused on the FL that I almost felt bad on other characters on original that barely got mentioned. Anakin the ML barely has character development and personality and it's why the romanced felt pushed and... more>> I can't take it seriously but other than that it's good and I'll be waiting for side stories. The manhwa drawing looks good too. <<less

Very refreshing story yet it was delivered in a very depressing tone, although I quite enjoy the story concept. I dislike’s author’s style on switching pov so suddenly, makes it really hard to smoothly follow the story.

If you are looking for a realistic transmigration MC, you can find it in ‘Eris’. Somehow, this is what really happened when you have all your character as anti-villain and anti-hero in transmigation setting. Worth to read but won’t revisit or re-read.

Quitting the novel early because the translation site uses a particularly difficult system where they take pictures of their translation and upload the pictures instead of the text. I get that they want to avoid theft, but as someone who uses a screen reader in daily life, this format is basically impossible.

The story is very similar to the manhwa, which I think I was ~50-60 chapters in. I originally tried to see if the novel would expand more depth on the manhwa, especially since it's easier for me to listen... more>> to a novel rather than squint at the long passages of manhwa chapters, but the MC is still just as edgy and the novel's pacing is still just as slow. It's not like I don't see why people find the MC's perspective somewhat realistic, it's just that her perspective is so uninteresting that it feels like she really shouldn't be the perspective we see the novel from. She's complaining or bemoaning the world half the time, and even if it's legitimate it's not something I want to read for too long. The world itself is interesting, but the MC IMO drags the novel down. Some perspectives from people aside from the MC would have made the novel much nicer, but sadly we don't really get those. Can't overstate the unfriendliness of the translator website, though. Most website creation engines are generally pretty content aware these days, so it's not often I see a creator actively make their website more difficult to use. <<less

I don't know what to feel about this lmao but basically our MC treats the other characters as not real (it didn't appeal to me that much maybe because I'm old so I feel bad about the characters because I know they're real) but can I also understand where she is coming from (but it comes to me as a little childish but surprisingly the author did a good job portraying this part).

She has a very good life in her other world so it's understandable why she wants to go back. It's like hell in her current one and no one really treats her well. PLUS, the ending was good and satisfying.

But read at your own risk. Some parts comes off as self-pity-ish if you've read other novels with head strong FL's. Some would even say this is immature but that is basically the plot of the novel (although the Death is the Only Ending for the Villainess portrayed this part well. She was neither immature but extremely independent and tried her best to go back by ending the story). <<less

This is a good read. The plot itself was straightforward but the characters and their dilemmas made it interesting. There's moral dubiousness, a lot of gray areas that not many will agree with.

The MC is so desperate to go back home she will do anything, sacrifice anyone (the Marquis, Helena) to let that happen. She simply doesn't see those around her as people. At some point she changed this view, she started to feel for the heroine and the ML.. But ultimately, she made a choice. She chose herself. Chose... more>> to go back. Personally I couldn't understand why she wanted to go back so bad? There was nothing waiting for her back home. Perhaps it was only familiarity?

I liked how we got a peek into the minds of some other characters, particularly the Prince, Helena, Emma and Empress.

Ah yes, reading this novel somehow made me feel separate from the events that were taking place.. Not like I was part of them. Maybe it was to reflect how the MC felt all through but I'm not very fond of such a style personally. It also got messy in some parts. Could've done with some polish/editing.

Anyway 4/5. Worth a shot. <<less

You probably arent going to appreciate or understand this story if you havent experienced something similar yourself. This is a story about an unloved child that cant trust anyone, unfairly forced into an even worse role taken to an extreme. Some of the pov changes in the early chapters are confusing but eventually the translator makes it more clear.

It was a decent reading, even though it has its own mess. This novel is more psychological of the FL who's suicidal. The reason I kept reading it was because of the decent ML, thats all.

I do recommend reading it as time filler if u don't have anything else better to read, and don't if u mind the suicidal FL who wants to return back to her own world.

P.S. No bed scenes, but

I don't know why so many readers don't want the MC, so for the those who hate this kind of novel or this type of MCs, you're not even worthy reading this, I love this so much (don't even ask why), I read the novel I even read the manhwa. Given that I tend to like reading angst when I'm in the mood, this story was right up my alley. I think this is the best portrayal of a character who transmigrated into the novel against her wish and never lets go of her desire to go back. That aspect of the protagonist (the confusion/frustration of being dropped into a world that isn't your own where your role is to be hated; the anger at being robbed of your life; the pain of not knowing whether you can return to your family) makes her not only feel relatable, but also fresh. Even when she gets tempted to stay, her desire to return to her real life supercedes everything.

Additionally, I liked that she called out the male love interests who display possessiveness towards her as a toxic, and therefore unwanted, behavior. Even when she herself displayed that toxic behavior towards Anakin (though in a much lesser extent) she was aware of her hipocricy and chided herself internally for falling into that cycle.

One of the side stories delves into Anakin's POV, which I found was necessary because his character doesn't feel as real and complex as the FL.

I will say that you do need to be in the right mood to enjoy this story; as it is darker in tone, more psychological and full of angst.

Not going to lie the story has potential and of course a big thank you to the translator.

The portrayal of a suicidal and depressed person is the worst in this entire manga. I understand what exactly the author wanted to express through a MC who wants to go back to her world where everything is familiar to her which is natural for any normal being but adding angst like su*cide and depression like themes only made me disliked her even more. At the beginning it was going good but as... more>> the plot carried on it turned out very bad execution. The way emotions or feelings were written through words just didn’t cl**ked with me. Even at some point I thought the author might have added them because to arouse sympathy for her. If something was irritating or bothersome happening around she wouldn’t even lift a finger to resist them for a little bit I’m not saying her to became a person with wits and wisdom right away at least try to grasp the world and it’s mechanism so a way could be found even if everything at it’s end she’s been thrown against her will. But no!as a first step She’ll moan or planning on her demise first, or having an inferiority complex episode. I’m mostly sad for the ML, even he was the most blandest character I’ve read but ending up with a piece like her is the worst could happen to him. Although she did somehow improve later on chapters, but again the way author written the entire story with abrupt changes in pov or unnecessary scenes made me grit my teeth really hard. <<less

This novel is hauntingly beautiful. I wish helena could have gotten a happier ending but the tragedy tag is without a doubt correct and the author ties up every loose end I could think of all characters actions are completely explained and I can not think of a single thing in the story to point to and say well that was only put there by the author to further the plot nor a single point of the story to say that was clear plot armor. Extremely well written hats off... more>> to the author and I look forward to any of his further works. <<less

Novel Absolutely Not Recommended to Read

The MC is a villainess at heart, a transmigration with a whole mess of emotions. Not once does she ever think to live a good life, which the author handwaves away early on by saying the MC tried to kill herself. Fate (the author) is forcing the MC to be a depressed scumbag woman and the MC will act as such.

The love interests are completely strange, and the MC swiftly attracts a lot of attention by simply being world weary. Never does she stand up... more>> for herself, but instead we get a bunch of POV swaps to whitewash all the mean things the MC does. It's pitiful.

MC wants to get back to her world, but keeps messing around in the world she's in. She says she feels guilty to the OG her's family, but she does absolutely nothing to explain her situation. Author gives a moronic explanation that the MC is worried about being dissected. Utter nonsense.

MC knows that she's stuck in a loop but the first time something goes different she immediately stops trying to loop more or even learn more information. This is the equivalent of all the failed routes in Re:Zero, with the MC being the epitome of s*upidity by never trying to learn anything about the plot or her current situation.

There are many other issues, like ridiculous backgrounds, flat cardboard fodder characters that scatter the novel, and weak political intrigue, but the whole novel is weighed down by the lackluster writing. From garbage romance to annoying cannon fodder, the story continually becomes worse and worse as the plot continues. Never once does the MC appear sympathetic as someone who wants to return home as she continually acts against her own goal. In fact, she does so little to return home after the premise that it's laughable. -900Quadrillion/10 Horrid.

P.S. The MC is extremely dense when it comes to relationships despite supposedly knowing the characters in the plot well. It's pitiful. <<less

Reincarnating into a novel where you don't know a single soul without anyone you can truly talk to. Would you be able to adapt into a whole different world? I find this novel extremely realistic. Eris doesn't adapt to this world and she doesn't view the people in the novel as people. Some might say she's cruel and cold hearted but I think that her actions are justifiable. Can you see the people who you've read on paper as actual beings? Some of you might not want to admit but... more>> you would probably be crying in your pretty little medieval bedroom wanting to do go home without doing anything. Eris doesn't keep crying in her bedroom and actually finds a way to go home. She may be seen as selfish but in a world with no one it's a given. Not only that Eris isn't inhumane. She does have empathy towards others such as Helena and Anakin.

Anaways, I know how some people don't like Helena but personally I can't seem to hate her. We see her reasoning and her personality throughout the novel. She can't say no to the crown prince or else it would go against the imperial order. There is no reason for anyone to hate her. She literally

She's so kindhearted and bears no grudges that it's hard to believe that she's actually a human being. She is not far off from being the embodiment of an angel or a saint.

Finally my favorite character, Anakin. I will be completely honest it's really hard to believe his loyalty and love can be started so quickly. I do wish that there were scenes to show their love and what he exactly thinks of Eris. I've seen the side stories but I wish there were more. Anakin is so respectful and loyal towards Eris. He loves Eris to the point where he can follow every order she gives him even if it means

Throughout the novel, there hasn't been a single point where he has been disrespectful toward the MC (unlike some characters). He respects her boundaries and doesn't do anything forceful (although that is the bare minimum). I've never seen a ML this perfect tbh. All of the characters were written well (although I'm not best at really seeing whether or not it's well written)

I find it strange that the other male characters are suddenly interested in Eris for literally no reason. It's kinda weird but then again the "you're different/you've changed" plot is pretty popular in novels. I'm a bit disappointed that OG Eris doesn't really make an appearance other than in the flashbacks. <<less

Really enjoyed this novel.

Eris is a sad but relatable character. She actually reacts how I believe a lot of us would in her situation. If you already have a rather hard life, I can't even imagine how it would be if I became Eris. So it's refreshing to see a MC that actually wants to get back ... more>>

Spoiler

He never fell in love with her because of her looks but instead (in my opinion) because he realised that she was a person who was suffering and was more than her status. Eris isn't perfect but that makes her human. She gave him a propose in world that didn't even give him a name. The side stories give him more dimension to his character.

[collapse]

One of the things that some readers might not agree with me is, that Eris has really no reason to stay back.
Spoiler

The novel-world is a terrible place to be in, even for Helena. The male characters are disgusting and get obsessed with Eris, including her half-brother and a rapist prince.

[collapse]

Spoiler

She is forced to comply to the rules of the novel. She is literally destined to die. Her trying to kill herself is completely understandable, I mean im pretty sure she suffers from a lot of mental health issue, including depression (something I can relate to) and PTSD (she mentioned at the end that she goes to therapy).

[collapse]

Another reason why I liked this,
Spoiler

is that her isekai and her not able to change the story line is explained in a well thought way. In a lot of novels, that I've read, I don't see an explanation why they got to another world except maybe because of God, but still. They have a whole theory why Eris can't kill herself and the whole thing with how one becomes a witch gives this a bitterly unique twist to it. The thing with becoming a witch also shows quite well why people that identify as a woman are constantly suffering, there even more than in some modern countries

[collapse]

I really can't understand how some readers here seem to say that Eris is a scumbag. Yeah she isn't perfect and a "good" person but that makes her human and, in my opinion, sympathetic and relatable.

Overall: I liked reading Kill the Villainess. It has good plot and a likeable MC with a tragic backstory and a bittersweet ending. Would recommend. <<less
