Worship Me, I Can Make You Rich

On the first day of work for the little intern God of Wealth, Zhuang Zhou was filled with confidence and complacency.

He looked at the man collecting junk from a pile of garbage and said: “Worship me, I can make you rich.”

The big and tall man stubbornly continued to collect junk, ignoring him completely.

Not wanting to lose his job on his first day at work, Zhuang Zhou did his best at persuasion: “Men can’t be so lacking in ambition. You can’t collect garbage for a lifetime, right? How will you find a wife in the future?”

The Imperial Admiral, Wen XiaoYun, self-destructed with the alien Insect Empress. Surviving by a fluke, he landed on a long abandoned tr*sh planet.

He could only search for installable parts from a pile of abandoned garbage to fix his mecha and mend his communication array.

The days spent on the abandoned tr*sh planet were very long and tortuous. Fortunately, there was a little friend accompanying him.

En. However, this little friend was a little s*upid.

It’s alright. He’s still pretty cute.

Returning home victorious, the Admiral-daren brought his sweetheart back to the Imperial capital planet, igniting the attention of the entire galaxy.

The reporters asked: “Admiral-daren, can you tell us what’s your criteria for choosing a spouse? What about Mister Zhuang Zhou attracted you?”

After thinking for a moment, the Admiral-daren said: “Many people approach me for my status and power. Only he, is willing to collect garbage with me.”

The entire galaxy: “????”

At this time, however, the little God of Wealth was silently hugging himself.

Oh no! Something unexpected seemed to have happened when he descended to Earth!

He has somehow arrived in the intergalactic era!

3rd time I read this!

I love it. Even though I reread it, I still like it and didn't feel bored since I already knew the story.

I like how MC didn't deviate on his true goal and continue to gain worshippers. His situation is pitiful and he didn't even remember it because he sealed his memories. I'm quite sad at first and then happy at the ending. You'll know why if you read it.

I love how the ML didn't worship MC but he is devoted to MC. He didn't worship MC... more>> to wish something because what he wanted is MC.

The plot is good! Not bloody, not cliche, not dog-blood! It's cute, sweet, and at the same time healing! Amen! <<less

Personal rating: 4.2/5

Feel good, fluffy chill story.

MC is intern god who unwittingly was transported 2000 years into the future, where Earth is destroyed and planets contaminated by radiation. His goal: create followers and collect faith.

Strengths:

    • MC is adorable and earnest. Has OP divine powers. Naive on the romance front
    • Fantastical and interesting plot
    • ML is gentlemanly and really sweet and doting on MC. Super polite and courteous and really indulgent despite being a strict military commander.
    • ML and MC have a healthy, mutually supportive and cute relationship! (rare) ML is silently supportive and trusts MC. MC also constantly thinks of ML. They are really considerate to each other. No dog blood drama, just two people really happy with one another. The best parts are that:
      Spoiler

It was revealed that although ML believes MC saved him on the tr*sh planet, in fact, MC was also saved by ML (saved from eons of loneliness and solitude, and saved from dissipating from existence). ML cries after discovering MC's past, while MC smiles wryly --> true empathy

      [collapse]
    • Any pretences/lies are over fast.
      Spoiler

I like how MC straight up confessed that he was a wealth god reasonably early to ML. No need to unnecessarily prolong the lie, which was great

      [collapse]
    • Overarching mystery: why was Earth destroyed? Why is MC in this era and what will happen to him? I think these questions were answered well.
      Spoiler

BIG ENDING REVEAL SPOILERS: ML's team discovers strange wooden sculptures on the garbage planet. MC realizes he carved them but has no memories... turns out Earth ages ago experienced natural disasters and there was an impending meteorite strike.
MC was actually a genius high god, not an intern, that everyone loved. The other high gods chose to try to protect earth, whereas MC was assigned to help the other little gods protect the humans when escaping earth. MC was split apart from the other gods after escaping earth and he carved their memories into wooden sculptures. As humans began dying, their faith waned and all the gods started dying. MC became the last god left stranded on a deserted planet, and only manages to survive by hibernating and giving life to a rock demon who slowly accumulated faith in him and that's what sustained him. Throughout the years, he talked to himself in order to not forgot the other gods (his goal: try to revive them all) and in doing so he loses his sense of identity. He is alone for centuries. Ages later, he wakes up thinking he's an intern god and cue the start of the story (and he was actually close to dissipating entirely). It's really sad.

Ending spoilers: happy ending! MC manages to guide everyone to the location of Earth, revives all the gods using the faith he's collected. ML and MC marry. xiao Po lan survives a heavenly tribulation and becomes human an gets together with Cheng JinXue!

      [collapse]
Weakness

    • I think the author could have delved deeper into MC's background - he has a very interesting origin story, but it felt like a bit of a speedrun when it got explained.
    • MC is blatantly OP and quickly and effortlessly solves a HUGE issue in the world that's akin to like unlimited renewable energy... a bit hard to suspend my disbelief here.
    • Side characters didn't get much development.
    • The ending wrapped up a bit too cleanly, like a fairytale.
      Spoiler

Honestly, I would have preferred that Xiao Po Lan didn't become a human that got together with Cheng Jin Xue. It felt like the author just wanted to force a happy romance on the side characters.

      [collapse]
    • Not a weakness on the author's part, but I note that the translators didn't translate specific phrases that have some meaning. For example, the name Xiao Po Lan (the robot) actually means something akin to 'lil' broken/worn-out' which is actually quite funny.

This wasn't a bad novel. It just wasn't good, either. It was perfectly mediocre, but not in a particularly good way. A time-waster, but not a very enjoyable one.

Read this instead rec corner: The General’s Vampire Omega

Spoiler

MC is also an unreliable narrator, ML also has an important role in the military.

Also has schemes and plots, but with an actual overarching conflict and no petty face slapping.

Overall a good read, definitely worth reading.

[collapse]

Pros:

Translation: Well done. Good stuff as always from a great translator.

Characters: MC is a typical airhead but also OP protagonist. He isn't that interesting, but wasn't annoying either. He also had some surprising backstory that is revealed slowly, so that wasn't bad either. ML is much less important than the description made him out to be. Typical powerful, doting love interest who supports MC's rise to power. The side characters were actually pretty good, but almost all of them disappeared as soon as they stopped being useful, which was a shame.

Plot... sort of: Overall, I'd say a pretty solid concept with lukewarm execution.

Spoiler

MC ends up being an unreliable narrator, which is a trope I absolutely adore. Fairly good execution of the reveal too, but I wasn't invested enough for it to be actually emotional. The whole novel has too light a tone for the serious moments to be actually serious. Basically, good chapters, bad context.

[collapse]

Cons:

Tone: The genre is comedy. The author also includes some serious moments in the end. Unfortunately, they drop the ball with the transition between the comedy and the serious stuff.

Pacing: The book is at least 60% typical face slappery. Random evil guy shows up, manipulates some people into being evil to MC, gets slapped, disappears, and never shows up again. Worst of all, MC doesn't even resolve most of the conflicts: someone else steps in, or his magical god powers pull a solution right out of the deus ex machina machine.

MC: I have nothing against his character's personality, but he was just. Such a Gary Sue. I understand he's a god, but wow, does the fact he's magical need to resolve every plot point? Everyone loves him on sight. His fortune controlling powers take care of all of the cannon fodder characters for him. There's no tension anywhere because you know some weird magic shenanigans are going to save his bu*t every time something happens. I'd almost prefer the typical "ML saves the day every time" shtick over this. Almost.

TL;DR: MC is Gary Sue, plot is repeated face slapping, relationship was good but got backseated really hard. It's just The General's Vampire Omega, but microwaved for thirty seconds instead of baked in the oven.

Rating: 3.5/5, rounded down because it left me disappointed after reading. <<less

It seemed pretty interesting at the start, but I kinda feel like it's a bit flat... You know when you read a really good book and get invested in the characters? Didn't experience here... the premise is interesting, but the characters weren't enough to carry it. I also feel like the ML fell in love way too fast? Like I blinked and he was suddenly showing signs of being in love. -0-

It's good enough if you want a quick/fun/easy read! Just don't expect something mindblowing.

That said, people who... more>> have completely read the book seem to like it. Either way, the start hasn't indicated that the writing or character development is something awesome, so *shrugs* The plot seems to heat up, but I doubt that the plot can carry the characters (they're pretty average). <<less

What can I say, this is mostly fluff but at the end of the story, I cried so much bcs of the background story. How the MC and ML met, why the MC ended up on that tr*sh planet. All written so beautifully. This is pretty light to read yet so touching in the end. Thank you author and translators for this great story.

Excellent novel. I would have never read this in raw (I don't read sci-fi in Chinese) so kudos to the wonderful translation. The plot is good, the characters are great. I felt a bit weirdout about the god wealth (since the god is always a middle age man with moustache) but got over it after a while.

especially considering the fact that the gods rely on faith in order to not disappear. The fact that the stronger the faith the stronger the gods are, that further strengthen my belief.

[collapse]

I already suspect the side couple from long ago so I'm not even surprised by the revelation. The thing that surprised me the most was the MC himself.

Spoiler

with the way he conduct himself, I was actually expecting the MC to be the s*upid type to be honest. I wasn't expecting much of him but I actually underestimated him a lot. The MC wasn't s*upid; that truly surprised me. He actually is very smart. Usually even in other mary sue-ish or gary stu-ish novel, they'll always conduct themselves in s*upidity despite being OP; yet this MC wasn't one of them surprisingly so I was very satisfied. The ML also unexpectedly wasn't as unemotional. There's a couple of emotional moments in the novel I have to say.

[collapse]

Overall I'm satisfied with the results. It is HE and very fluff. <<less

I was originally skeptical about this book even with the high rating. I thought, "A protagonist who is naive? Good? Pure? And not annoying? How can that be possible?"

I deeply reflect on my initial impression. The protagonist is all of those good things, and even more so. Somehow, no matter how short this novel was, the author made the ML and MC extremely likeable. If you had read Little Mushroom before then the MC is a bit similar to that book's protagonist. Though it isn't as depressing as LM and... more>> sometimes even comedic, MC's past made me cry. Which I didn't even know was possible with how lighthearted this novel was.

And the ML just made me want to believe in love again. While he is like other MLs (overpowered), he is massively respectful towards the MC. He never pushes the MC for his secrets and boundaries. Actually, something I like about their relationship is when the author made it so both are also vinegar jars. So there's a lot of funny moments.

Perhaps I might not reread this but this novel will forever stay in my memories for the beautiful ending and a quote that will be remembered when I come across this novel again. <<less

Fluffy, cute, light-hearted, comedic. Extremely OP MC and OP ML.

Nothing new here, but the fluff and humor was pretty good.

Spoiler

After ML takes MC back, there's a getting-together arc, a school arc, and a conclusion arc.

Very similar plot to other novels in the genre.

[collapse]

Really enjoyed the ending about the overarching mystery with the MC's past and real memories. Great reveal there.

Some parts got a bit slow and boring, but if you like slice-of-life and fluff, it's not too bad.

Great translation, enjoyed it.

Spoiler

Would have liked a few things to have notes - like Xiao Po Lan means "Little tr*shy, " so knowing that and knowing what happened later gives his entire thing a super comedic cast.

5/5* HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This story was awesome! It has the same 'formula' as (all interstellar stories) :

1. A guide to raise your natural enemy (GRYNE)

... more>> 2. The no. 1 lazy merchant of beast world (No.1LM), and

3. Im not human

Regarding 1 & 2 and Worship me

All MCs here have certain healing abilities, highly needed, highly coveted by everyone in the interstellar world. Learning about these abilities blew the minds of all people/netizens in the universe. So everyone kiss MCs asses. The journey is very smooth sailing and makes MC extremely OP and all powerful.

Regarding 3 and Worship Me

WORSHIPPING! If you haven't read Im not human yet, please do! The whole Zerg race worships and loves their King unconditionally and to the extreme. In this story MC is also heavily worshipped by the whole universe. Also the MCs in both stories are the most powerful beings in the universe, even more OP than ML.

Romance:

In my opinion GRYNE has the best romance out of the 4 stories. ML and MC stand on most equal footing. There is lots of cp screen time and most smut. Next is Worship me. But because in Worship me, MC is more OP than ML maybe, and focus of the story is more on gaining followers and faith, romance is less prominent than in GRYNE. In Im not human the romance is also less prominent, it was more about all the love from all the Zergs (which was SUPER GREAT). In No.1LM the romance was the least outstanding (please see my review there).

MC & plot

In all these stories the common factors are the OP-ness of MC, his journey to become the most important person in the interstellar world, aided by ML. Face slapping and witnessed by netizens from whole universe are also key in all these 4 stories.

In this respect, the MC in Worship me is I guess the most powerful, he is a god after all and has many other (secret) skills too. But, actually these 4 novels are quite on par here.

Overall:

Except for No.1LM, the 3 other stories all got a 5/5* rating from me. I really can't choose which is better. GRYNE has the best romance. Im not human has the best worshipping ever!

And Worship me has the most heart breaking plot and suspense --> MC is a unreliable narrator, his memories are not correct. In the end you find out what happened to planet earth and the other gods. And IT IS SOOO HEART BREAKING WHAT MC WENT THROUGH!!!

Also, Worship me has the best unexpected side couple!!! Aaah... I love them sooo much. So super hilarious too how they came to be LMAO.

Conclusion:

Did you like any of the 3 titles above, then super great chance you like this story too, or even more!! The excitement of seeing MC becoming the most powerful person in the universe, the most popular and worshipped just feels so good and addicting!!! :) <<less

4.5 rating. Short novel. Really a great story 👏❤. I really love the authors view and explanations of God and religions and spiritual power. The MC and ML are well fleshed out and the side characters are great. The villains are worthy of dislike and get what they deserve. Some. Good faceslapping moments. Thank you to the translator for picking this gem up. 💎. Worth the read time.

I just had to binge read this novel because it tickle's all my weak spots :)

Well written story without plot holes that I could notice and all characters feel alive and are not one dimensional use once and then forget type of characters

... more>> Lovely main couple and silly side couple :)

Great extra chapters <3 shou's family reunion and side couple's story

Futuristic ABO world but not overly mecha this and that written, but more of storyline focused

Smooth sailing for the couple, no big tear jerker plot devices, overall comedic undertone

Plot twist and shou's sad past

No rushed ending and happy end <<less

This is one of my favourite novels. The main couple are in a extremely healthy relationship. I really like the interstellar theme and hope to find more. The idea of the priests and mc's past memories are really appealing to me. The MC isn't super op and neither the ML is so the really have quite a balanced relationship. I'm really satisfied with everything, there isn't much drama and even if there were it's really not that extreme. The humour is a 4/5 and overall it's just a five. Wen XiaoYun is not at all like your typical stone-faced super powerful male lead. He is literally in his own class. Like, this man absolutely melts for Zhou Zhou. WXY loves ZZ desperately, will do anything for ZZ, has cried because of what ZZ experienced, professes his love often and passionately. He's patient, kind, doting, but not at all overbearing. He's literally one of the strongest people in the Empire and yet he never tries to restrict ZZ or fight ZZ's battles for him (and that's not just because he... more>> knows ZZ is actually more powerful than he is). I could seriously gush for ages about Wen XiaoYun. And Zhou Zhou himself is just so incredibly cute. He's naive but not in a frustrating way, and when you get towards the end of the book you will find the heartbreaking truth as to why Zhou Zhou is seemingly so naive.

But don't worry, the novel has a very happy ending. Also, IGNORE the misunderstandings tag. Like, there is no lack-of-communication trope here. There are very few actual misunderstandings. ZZ does keep secrets, but WXY figures things out pretty quickly and consciously tries not to let ZZ know that he knows things. He just wants ZZ to be comfortable and tell him things in his own time. Otherwise, this is actually a very communicative couple. They talk through their feelings even though ZZ is pretty shy, and they just support each other 110%.

My only small criticism is that some of the chapters dragged a little. There were sometimes long sections of explanation or long sections where nothing super relevant was happening. But otherwise, I cannot recommend this novel enough. <<less

Very nice, I thought MC being a god would make him overpowered but that did not happen 💀 He was weak and wasn’t even considered a threat by ML.

The plot twist at the end was a real shocker even with the knowledge in advance of knowing it.

The romance progressed in a kinda quick way but it did not take away from the story since MC was real hesitant most of the time.

5/5 recommended for the laughs and giggles it brought me
