Thanks to the translator for picking this up!

This may be the hottest Ka Biqiu novel besides Outside the Law. Short, sweet, and interesting pairing. The MC gets 'adopted' (sort of, it's not a real, legal adoption, more like being someone's ward) by a rich gangster after his scummy biological family tries to sell him as a prostitute to clear their debts. The MC is beautiful and pure-looking, but in reality he's an orphan brat who can fend for himself. He's 16 a the start of the novel when he meets... more>> the ML and the one who gets obsessed *cough* falls in love with the ML, so no grooming on the ML's side even though he's more than 10 years older than the MC. Push-pull dynamic and dubcon:

Spoiler

Mostly the MC dubconning the ML because he gets fed up with waiting for the ML to do him and feeds him aphrodisiac to get things rolling - the ML gets out of control (partly because he's been holding back for a long time waiting for the MC to come of age, partly because he's angry that he's fed aphrodisiac, which is pretty fair to be upset about). Rough s*x, but they both end up enjoying it and it fixes their relationship.

[collapse]

No noncon and both MC and ML are very willing (and h**ny) when they finally do the deed. The ML makes sure the younger MC knows what he's getting into.

The ML has yandere-like tendencies, but keeps them in check. He's very caring when it comes to the MC, and they complement each other well, since the ML is a domineering CEO-type of gangster boss and the MC isn't exactly what you'd call normal, but he's probably the only one who can provide a real challenge for the ML.

Good story if you like MCs with a daddy complex and large age difference between MC and ML, but consensual romance. Ka Biqiu is very good at writing complex characters and interesting relationship dynamics. Plus hot smut (hehe). <<less

Translator here~

13 Feb '23 Edit: Added the extra chapter that came with the physical book!

It is a very short story so it was pretty plotless. The main focus is on how the relationship developed between the MC and ML.

The MC really keeps you reading because he's just such a darling. He had a rough start but it didn't make his personality any much lesser. He is someone who dares to chase after his wants and puts his words into actions. I like it when the shou actively chases after the... more>> gong.

Also, because of the adoptive relationship between MC and ML, MC had to call ML daddy in front of others. However this "daddy" ended up being used when he's selling his cuteness or in bed which is really seductive. The smut was pretty good in this.

The ML really dotes on him a lot too. You can see how protective he is for him and that really makes your heart melt.

Overall, it is a light hearted read with no dogblood and drama. <<less

DO NOT READ!

I loved the MC but I hated ML so much! He says he cares for MC but when MC was uncomfortable with him going out with that woman he didn't care! Plus, he literally ditched MC for that woman. MC prepared a gift for him (a recording). ML lied to him that he listened to it when in fact he didn't because oh no, he had to meet with that woman!

Tbh, after that woman entered the scene, and made ML look like an a**hole, I didn't have the... more>> patience to read much... To me, no matter what happened next, he was still tr*sh. Oh, and I think there was this time where MC got kidnapped and when ML was called for the money, he pretended to not care and hung up. And then it was still HIM that was worried and all. Poor MC escaped by himself...

To conclude, ML is tr*sh and MC could do so much better! <<less

#daddyxboy pair. MC is a spoiled brat so it might irk a few readers. But even if he's a spoiled brat he is a brat in a literal term, and a violent one at that. Very boyish. Not how other webnovels define spoiled shous*coughlike temperamental little ladiescough*. MC is a thug in a making, I should say. The relationship progression is pretty good... it's quite realistic IMO and both even had gone out with women before hey got together. s*xual tension rules the story until they finally did the deed.... more>> (because of mc's age)

For a BL gangster webnovel, it's a pretty nice shortie, didn't realise it was short with how packed the story is and it's nicely written too. <<less

One thing about Ka Bi Qiu stories is that the synopsis always makes them sound pe*verted, but they are actually really sweet. In this case, the synopsis suggested that MC and ML were like father and son, and ML raised MC, but in reality, they were just two lonely people who needed love and company. Yes, ML adopted MC, but it was an impulsive decision in order to save MC. I can't see ML as a father figure; he is too young and is like a teenager himself. He cares... more>> about MC, but calling him father is too far-fetched.

The story itself revolves around MC and ML's relationship. There were a few unpleasant moments, but nothing nerve-wracking; there isn't any angst, and generally, it is a good read. Because it's so short, things aren't dragged out endlessly.

I liked that despite the story being so short, MC and ML backgrounds were shared, characters were well-rounded and lovable, they felt real, and one could feel their emotions. MC is young but mature for his age (because of his background), but also a bit rebellious, which is normal for his age. I think he is used to being independent, and no one really cares for him, so he acts wild (but nothing unacceptable). ML is ruthless but is nice to MC and dotes on him. I think he himself hasn't grown yet, despite being older than MC, he isn't mature and isn't ready to be the father of a teenager. I loved that both were imperfect and made mistakes, but of course everything ended well.

I want to thank the translator who picked up this story and shared it with us and was so meticulous with notes and explained everything in detail. <<less

Don't understand the low ratings, really enjoyed the story.

I don't care what anyone says, I really like the MC. He doesn't take sh*t and he's strong af. He's the type to be stubborn and reckless, but he always follows through with what he says. He's never indecisive and I stan. I love people like that. His personality never changed either even after falling in love, so it's *chef's kiss*. It's also nice seeing the black-bellied ML being pursued and being somewhat flustered. Nice for a short, kinky read.

Can’t say there is anything very special. And the story itself is short, so there is a time skips and not much of emotions and events. I think this gave me a feeling that all was too plastic. I wanted to see more of emotional development from both sides. It was too small.

In genera, quite mediocre read. With in*est. Be aware.

This story was pretty good. Binge-read it for one day and I definitely don't regret it.

First, the story can't be said to be perfect. It has its own flaws. Given the fact that it almost crossed the taboo theme of p*dophilia, I wouldn't be surprised if others feel uncomfortable.

However, if you're planning to read, I would like to remind that MC was 16 when he was adopted. Celebrated his 17th birthday with a pure relationship. ... more>>
Spoiler

They realized their feelings months after his birthday. They had their first s*x a year after which means he's at least 18 years old, an adult, before doing it.

[collapse]

Their emotional development was also satisfying. It wasn't dragged too long. No unnecessary drama or any of the sort. It was ML being clueless with his feelings and MC facing it open-mindedly.

I think what I am a little dissatisfied with is
Spoiler

ML having s*x with his ex-girlfriend. It's actually not wrong because he's basically single. I guess it's the fact that I didn't expect him to have s*x with his "ex" again and to have an ambiguous relationship. Also, at that time, I thought they were planning to rekindle their relationship. Fortunately, they didn't and his ex never bothered them again.

[collapse]

Regarding the characters, MC has a bottom line. He was headstrong that was common for youngsters. After living with ML, this trait of him didn't vanish. Despite not being socially equal, he actually stands an equal foothold with ML. He's also straight-forward- with his confession, his likes and dislikes, and things he was dissatisfied with. He won't let others decide for himself, and fight for what he wants. Basically, he knows when to advance and retreat.

Meanwhile ML, even though he was domineering and used to having the power over others, he respects the MC. His decisions, actions, and even encourage to have an open communication with MC. He doesn't decide for MC, but rather listen to his suggestion and decide on a consensus for the both of them.

Overall, it was a good light-read if you're looking for a short one.

Kinda short and I was actually expecting for more of their relationship. I want to see how they will live their lives together after this.

PS. I found the manhua version of this one in Bilibili Comics and it's a whole lot different... <<less

I love this omg as expected of this author. I love her CPs because the progress in feelings is really there. The characters are always so so flawed but they find growth through love.

Here, the age gap is pretty wide and the relationship started while MC was still a minor. BUT he was definitely not groomed lol if anything, he groomed the ML 😂😂😂 ML was actually quite reluctant but of course, he eventually gave in to MC 😂😂😂😂

But MC is not dumb and blinded by his dependence and love... more>> for ML either. From the very beginning, although he was financially dependent on ML, emotions-wise, he already had his own principles and ideas and he stuck with them too. Even after they got together, he knows his worth, understands his own feelings, and makes his own decisions. I especially love the last extra.

Anyways, it's a good read. No dog blood. No prolonged misunderstanding. 10/10 will recommend! <<less

I loved reading this. Honestly, I enjoy reading a little faux-cest at times, and I also like an adopted MC for some reason (not sure why). I gave it 5 stars because the plot is pretty interesting, and I liked how the MC teased the ML relentlessly before they were finally together. I did think the part where the MC was ... more>>
Spoiler

groped (mol*sted, yuck - this why someone gave the "Reverse r*pe" tag, which I wish had been added prior to when I read smh) by the hired caregiver was glossed over. I think it should have been more traumatic for MC but maybe I'm wrong...

[collapse]

If you are thinking of reading the manhua adaptation, I advise against it! Really, I was extremely disappointed with the manhua adaptation. I understand that it has to be censored, but the adaptation also distorted the original plot.
Spoiler

For instance, the ex-gf was turned into a "woman who had pursued the ML but never got him", and the s*x scene between ex-gf and ML was deleted entirely. So wtf happened to the impetus for the MC to gather the courage to confess? Gone.

[collapse]
I understand that the artist can't show explicit s*x scenes due to censorship regulations, but that wasn't actually necessary. The artist could have made some allusions to the s*x scene, like discarded clothes. That didn't happen. I think the manhua adaptation did a disservice to a decent plot and interesting characters. Also, the art style was not something I enjoy, since I'm more used to the webtoon and manga art style with more robust body types. I find that a lot of manhuas (such as the adaptation for Lord of the Mysteries) tend to create male characters with more slim and feminine features, over-Westernized faces with a distinct lack of "roundness" which is more typical in an Asian face, which I guess may appeal to some, but not to me. Is there anything wrong with depicting a more realistic Asian face? I personally don't think so... this is similar to the way Chinese authors will emphasize the whiteness of skin tone when describing a shou or FL's beauty, which I dislike. Well, I don't want to provoke anyone by saying this kind of thing, I just think that glorifying unrealistic Western standards of beauty for non-Western people is not healthy. That just leads to poor kids using extreme dieting in order to have slimmer facial features, and using whitening creams with unknown ingredients which are harmful to health (this is what my former Taiwanese roommate did). <<less

This was honestly too funny. Chen Xing is an actual gremlin, master escape artist and impulsive troublemaker that he is. The father/son dynamic didn't run too deep (more of a sugar daddy than an actual dad lol) and the age gap honestly isn't that bad. I think Lin Xiuching is about 25 and Chen Xing 16 when the story starts? Could be worse.

It's entertaining for sure but don't expect anything life changing. Basically just 17 chapters of set up for two characters to eventually f*ck after a time skip to... more>> make things legal. It is what it is. <<less

I'd really rate lower if not for the last extra. I love when characters actually self analyze their behaviors and try to improve for the other person they love. This one was really short and up until the main text ends, I'd just take it as a casual timepass story but the last extra really made this story better for me and it feels more complete. Was fun to read with good translation and definitely recommend this to others.

Had potential concept-wise but storytelling fell flat, main and supporting characters were a mess, and a lot of events in the story were pointless.

Interesting thing to note: A lot of the novel's flaws (including scenes that just didn't contribute anything to the story) are heavily retconned in the webcomic adaptation. The MC's personality is more consistent and less clown-like, scenes connect with eachother more fluidly, story beats feel better, and side characters serve their purpose better. The writing for the webcomic is a lot more passable as a story than... more>> the webnovel itself. <<less

Hitting the table and screaming that I need more. I thought the MC was adorable, quite strong and strong-willed. Plus proactive and unafraid to express his feelings. Can't believe we just skipped past the Christina thing just like that. Felt so bad for MC when he built up the courage to give the ML that audio but the damn guy just ran out to meet his ex and have s*x. And then the MC didn't even give him sh*t about it. I would have. I might be too petty. Wish... more>> there was more smut, but still a cute story. <<less

This sugar daddy/sugar baby pairing really lives up to its name, they're so sweet.

I love how domineering the ML is, but I especially love how headstrong the MC is. He doesn't tolerate anything against his will, and thus no matter how many bruises he racks up, you can always trust he has a bottom line and won't tolerate more than he can stand.

Adoptive father and son relationship. Shou grew in orphanage and was sold by his biological family to gong, bringing him from China to the UK. Nice read with good smut. Liked the shou making gong anxious. The moment of realization on the shou’s part with the gong’s ex-girlfriend was also great.

Although some parts didn't flow smoothly, the story is still worth reading. Both MC and ML have flawed personalities. MC would be childish and unreasonable at times. ML would also tease MC to get him worked up.

MC, Chen Xing, was an orphan until his dad picked him up from the orphanage when he was around 15 years old. He has a fiery temper and carefree attitude. ML, Lin Xiucheng aka Vincent Lim, is a ruthless gangster. ML felt sorry for MC and decides to adopt MC when MC's dad tried... more>> to give MC to ML as a plaything.
Spoiler

MC was left by his mother at the orphanage when he was 2 years old. She then committed su*cide. His dad had left them long ago to marry someone else.

After MC was taken home by ML, MC started developing feelings for ML. ML resisted his advances saying MC was inexperienced and might regret it later. After much to do, they do end up together.
