the storyline is amazing holy shit. And the flirting and romance is definitely there too which is huge for me. MC and ML’ personality compliment each other very well. However the smut chapters were kind of bland imo. The bathtub chapter was GREAT. But the rest of the smuts just didn’t do it for me, lacked details, seemed silly and unrealistic. Other than that, great novel with good happy ending.

You should read it. This novel is gorgeous. Their love ans relationship so beautiful and cute. If you will not see it with your own eyes, you will not be able to understand how beautiful it is 😊🤗

I am in love with this story. MC and ML so cute. Side characters have their own stories and decisions. They are not just dols. They have their characteristics and feelings.

So just read it and you will be in love too, ahhahah 🙃😉

I read this after Heaven Official’s Blessing. Uhm, I did not enjoy this as much as the other but it was still good? I didn’t like the switching back and forth between the future and past. It’s still good, I just wanted to read more about the future. It’s really adorable though, I loved the main couple.

This was the very first novel of this genre that I've read and one thing I really loved about it is the writing. I love how colorful the words they used are, especially in the tragic arcs. It made it so easy for me to connect with the world that the author established, for me to put myself in the story itself like I was there to witness firsthand how things went down. In simpler terms, it was a really engaging experience.

Sobbing because I’ve been obsessed with this for years and tried out every single adaptation that ever existed. Even though this was one of my earlier reads, I loved it. The concept was a little confusing if I were to skim through it but nonetheless it was one of my best reads and it remains one of my all time favorites.
EVERYONE IN THIS NOVEL IS SO SAD Wwx has to be one of my favorite characters, I mean cmon. Power bottom. How shameless he is is such a comedic factor, but I really loved his quick wits. You can feel the yearning, the longing, and the one moment of happiness that leaves you breathless. Wwx and lwj deserve the happiest ending.

Simply the best, most poetic, touching, amazing danmei story! It made me laugh and cry at times. The ending is perfect with all the loose ends tied up. The best thing about it is the main character who is hilarious and heroic.

I completely fell in love with this novel. I’m not usually one for flashbacks, but I feel like they are done really well and are just as captivating as the present story. It’s very interesting to discover the truths in the past and how the MC became so reviled when his current actions don’t make him out to be a bad person. The main characters are both great even though they are very different they are also very endearing and seeing their relationship develop in the past and present is... more>> a fun experience. The romance is lovely and definitely one of my favorite parts of the story, both of them go through a lot throughout the story so seeing them get a happy ending even after all of the tragedy brings me lots of joy. I would definitely recommend giving this story a read. <<less

MDZS was so dang good. It had me screaming, it had me crying, it makes me so dang happy. I am firmly in the camp that Wei Wuxian did nothing wrong and I will die on that hill.

another mxtx novel! I know this one is the more popular danmei amongst readers (I see edits on tiktok everywheree, not complaining though) and with good reason! it's a wuxia historical setting, which is something I enjoy personally.

lan zhan (ml, gong) and wu xian (MC, shou) are both so cute together. I love wuxian so much, everything he did and what he sacrificed for others, it's not easy to be so self-less throughout your whole life. I felt so sad for him each time ppl miaunderstand his intentions, our poor... more>> baby just wants to save everyone and do what he likes freely. he is like the wild child, and eggs on lan zhan to join him in his antics. like the saying goes; opposites attract!

there are lots of tearful moments, especially when wuxian says "there was no place for him here, no matter how big the world is." I wasnon my knees bawling gosh... but I am glad he now has someone who cares and loves him devotedly :)

one part I had a hard time getting through was

it made me really sad for wuxian bc no one knew the things he did for the sect and family. u would think after watching the cdrama I would be able to get pass that scene in the novel smoothly, but I still cried all over haha.

overall its a great book! the characters, plot, everything is amazing. do give it a try! <<less

This is an iconic danmei, if you're into that sort of thing you should definitely read. I really enjoyed the characters. I found Lan Wangji to be extremely relatable and Wei Wuxian to be an excellent mix of both wild/carefree and mature. It is painful to read at some points because of the injustice the main character experiences, but it is worth it.

I could confidently say that MDZS's popularity is well-deserved for a number of reasons.

Plot

  • Ingenious. The plot is dynamic, heartbreaking, funny, and well-thought out.
  • I absolutely didn't expect the plot twists since the author hid the clues so well within the novel.
  • The plot is somewhat a reflection of real life in terms of politics, which aid in the story progression later on.
  • This is a serious novel and not a fluffy, lighthearted one so you should expect more sad themes. Although, that doesn't mean that the novel doesn't have any happy moments.
  • I wasn't able to sense any plot holes thankfully.
Characters

  • The MC is absolutely shameless, likes to joke around, selfless, and a genius. He's a ball of sunshine that us readers would love to spoil and protect.
  • The ML is cold, values his words, loyal, and wholeheartedly loves the MC. He is righteous and kind of a tsundere too.
  • As for character dynamic, they didn't see eye to eye at first. It was more like enemies to lovers, but not exactly enemies.
  • The characters were written in such a way that you can't help but care about most of them (there are some irredeemable ones ofc)
  • Even the villains were relatable and somehow, in some way, I couldn't completely fault them for having done what they did
  • My heartache for the characters persisted until the end where the MC & ML finally have their long-awaited happy ending.
  • However, not all important characters get their happy endings. That is why, I think it's more of a bittersweet ending overall.
  • The author utilizes most characters officially introduced to us in such a way that they have massive influence over the plot. This includes side characters or minor characters as well. Which is really great!

When I first read this, I hated it and dropped it a few chapters in. I was astounded by the fact that it had so many fans despite starting off with what I thought were several typical xianxia cliches -- a powerful soul taking over a body, instantaneously being able to use old powers, solving several problems without breaking a sweat, misunderstood 'evil powers' MC, etc.

I'd read many webnovels up to that point and was inundated with and tired of such tropes, so I gave up without a second... more>> thought. In the end, I gave it a go a second time and discovered that it was a really, really excellent webnovel.

The plot is clearly planned out and journeying along with the cast to discover the truth of the matter was exciting. The characters each developed in a very natural way and mostly all had strong personalities that defined themselves, and even though the flashbacks were fairly long, I felt that they were aptly done. The tropes were explained and the story beats made sense. Everything tied up fairly well in the end. <<less

I honestly could not hate JGY and I genuinely think the atrocities he committed are no worse than WWX’s. The only difference is that WWX had a comparatively much more privileged upbringing, and JGY also was just insanely unlucky and just happened to get on NHS’s bad side... honestly in his list of crimes killing NMJ was one of the more understandable ones (I mean at that point NMJ was hell bent on killing him, too), yet that was the one that did him in :’) And in the end, JGY was prob the character who actually achieved the most net good for the commonfolk via his watchtowers saving hundreds and thousands of lives. Tragedy and irony and it’s finest, aghhh

Actually amazing—tight plot, well paced, likeable characters with impressive depth given the limited screen time. I love that MXTX puts so much nuance into everything. The protagonist and antagonist and very close foils of each other and honestly asides from the couple getting together at the end, idk if I’d call this HE. For the cast of chars at large, I’d call it bittersweet at best.

reread this a few times

this is a classic everyone must read this to be fully accepted into the danmei community. One of the rare novels that I don't simp for anyone (they're all attractive though except mengyao) at this point I don't even know who's right and who's wrong, , anyway this book gave me a new meaning to life and deteriorated my mental health but I picked my poison & u shld read it too

This story is one of my first and favorite of many danmei novels I ever read, it was quite stunning. I didn't hold much you know expectation for this story at first because at that time I didn't quite like cultivation stories but because I was new to this BL world, I thought to myself I just try and I was immediately captivated and I didn't regret reading it one bit, the author have done a good job writing this novel because it was truly amazing.

The first danmei I read. Honestly just pulls you in. "Thousand blooming flowers" below has a great review that I would like to piggyback on. They mentioned the past and present getting confusing at times.

For me, it was moreso the names and "factions" of the different groups (if you will). What I found most helpful and would highly recommend is to either watch a few episodes of the live action or the donghua (both can be found on YouTube). That way you can put names to faces (since many characters... more>> have a given name, a courtesy name, a title). And if I recall, there are about 16 characters in the novel that are "important."

But in all seriousness. The hype is worth it. <<less
