Ling Meng is a high-ranked casual gamer playing “The Legend of the Galaxy”. Infamous for his poison tongue, he’s known in the forums as Lemon Dad and he carefully cultivates a following of black powder fans over time. The trajectory of his fate completely changes the day he plays a match against the popular god-tier live stream anchor, Mangosteen. A meme created out of his dying words makes him a countrywide laughingstock and he begins to stalk Mangosteen to determine his rival’s weaknesses…to beat him in a match for revenge!

They fight with each other, stream with each other, and even exchange a naked photo with each other.

This is the love story of a lemon and mangosteen.

This is a funny, fluffy story and very different from Antelope and Night Wolf. The story gets a five because in the end I was completely satisfied with it. That's really rare in online novels, usually there are one or two things that I feel dissatisfied with in the end but not here; from the translation to the writing it was all very well done. This isn't a story with angst and drama, it's all about humor, sugar and dog food and it leaves you with a big smile at... more>> the end of each chapter. This is a story i'll come back to and read again when I'm down and need a mood boost. Also, MengMengs' roommate is exactly like my old roommate, though she wore a plastic Hawaiian skirt and did Hula dance in the background while kissing a pissed off cat. College, good times.

Oh and the game is, for all intents and purposes, Starcraft, so if you know that game you should be familiar with the layout here. Even if you don't know Starcraft the descriptions here are general enough that you won't get lost and confused by overly detailed technical descriptions (unlike certain other LoL based stories). <<less

I see now why the rating is so high! This novel is sweet, fluffy, and hilarious. It's mainly slice of life — campus life with a little bit of gaming/e-sports (the ML is a famous gaming anchor with god-like skills and the MC starts off as a well-known—infamous—casual player). The two meet up consequently in a match that catches the internet's attention, prompting the two to discover that they actually lived in the same campus as junior and senior.

The trajectory of the story is pretty wholesome. There's really no ups... more>> and downs, which matches the length of the novel. If you're looking for something casual to read—one that will make you smile and laugh, then this novel is definitely a good choice! The edited MTL is also better than most translations. I really can't tell it was initially MTL! So, there's really nothing that you should hold you back when reading it.

CHARACTERS: 8.5/10

You don't get crazy character development in this novel, since it's pretty short. So. You can't expect too much depth and complexity... But the characters are all likeable 👍!

Ling Meng - Lemon (MC)

Ling Ming is the brash and loud type of shou that acts fierce but is actually soft and gooey. His personality is very charming overall!

Shan Zhu - Mangosteen (ML)

Our gong in this novel is uniquely not the stoic type. He's more wild and carefree. Always smiling, just as hardworking as the MC, and equally charming.

ROMANCE: 8.5/10

To match the fast-pacing, the romance is equally swift. It's soft and sweet. Full of fluff! There's a cute love rival on the side but the novel is strictly 1v1 and there's no drama at all, just sweetness. It's not my usual preference, but I enjoyed it!

SETTING: 8.5/10

This is a campus story with a focus on gaming and live-streaming. In actual fact, the setting was pretty chill, not really the focus at all. But it did a lot to add to the sweet and comedic atmosphere.

PLOT: 8.5/10

Such a simple plot, but well worth the read! As mentioned, there's not many ups and downs. But if you're looking for an sweet and easygoing vibe, then this is definitely the right way to go.

RATING: 4.25/5

This gets a 5/5 stars from me despite the official rating. If only because my personal enjoyment was pretty high! Like, even if the novel isn't all that impressive in terms of literary style or substance, it's a whole lot of fun!

(Last note: In terms of spice-level, this novel has a bit of 🌶!!! Most of the spicy scenes are directly out of view, but there's one that happens on-screen, although it's 90% euphemistic, it's still pretty clear that the ML is... giving the MC a hand *cough*! And it's a pretty long scene too lolol~) <<less

This is the BEST ROMCOM BL i've ever read. It's easy to read and has a perfect pace for the uwu development. The HUMOR IS PERFECT. Believe me u will love this novel.....

Of all the five stars, I get it. But for me, the MC is not the type of shou that I prefer.

I love how adorable MC is. But he is a soft shou.. And I prefer tsundere shou.

The author portrayed a perfect ML who can do almost anything and a cute MC with so many lacking abilities. In my eyes, MC only has his cuteness..

And there isn't any knives here.. So if you're looking for sweet and fluffy and light BL novel, this is just the right choice for you.

I tend to read lots of Angst and Hurt/Comfort. This was pure fluff. I read this immediately after 2Ha and it was so disconcerting, how different it was - in a good way!

YBPGVW is cavity-inducing-sweet, pure sugar, no angst, just love. Easy to follow, fun to read and a breath of comfort between all the tragedy.

Reading this is like receiving tons of meng.

NO drama. Just fluffiness overload. A light funny BL story. Definitely, this was enjoyable and satisfying.

It has a good Tls, being able to convey the essence of the story, the meng. ≖‿≖ For more, in-depth review, just read the others.

So good, so good, so good! Important things must be said three times, hehe~

On a more (?) serious note:
Very very very cute, whether it is Meng Meng himself or MangNing.
Very very very funny, with the situations Lemon Daddy would get into.
Very very very sweet, heartwarming, and light-hearted.

In any case, it's a really good read for anyone who just wants to relax and read a cute gaming novel. It made me really happy while I was reading it, and I bet it will do the same for you! (⸝⸝ᵕᴗᵕ⸝⸝) The fluff and sugar will give you diabetes, seriously.

Honestly, I was a little skeptical about this at first, but OH MY GOSH!!! This is just sooo cute! It's like food for the soul after reading so many of those depressing, long a**, slow moving romances. It's a really great read that makes you laugh and smile until your stomach hurts. The translation is awesome and, wahhhhh it's just sooo good!

(Easily 4.5 stars, if it allowed half-stars.)

This is an entertaining, witty and easy-to-read story. It features a delightfully lively, quirky, cute, skilled (but a little naive) MC and a fairly "perfect", but personable and pleasant, ML. There's no real drama in this, but it's enjoyable to see the way the relationship between the couple gradually builds up through their mainly-online interactions. Normally, I get a bit bored when stories feature reactions from internet fans (they're often just used as a mindless tool, mainly in entertainment industry stories, and... more>> drag the story out), but in this story the fans feel like the main supporting character and I got rather fond of them.

As well as the overall storyline, I enjoyed the light-hearted intelligence this author writes with, and the translation is good, too.

I just recently finished reading The Antelope and Night Wolf, by the same author, and enjoyed that this one was was a simpler, less-convoluted story (and that the ML is also much better in this one). You don't have to have read that one first, but there is one fleeting/unimportant cameo you won't get if you haven't.

This is a story to just sit back and enjoy, without having to deal with inane writing or plot, nor annoyances or drama and angst. Quite delightful. <<less

Super cute story. The translation is very well done. There is a lot of FLUFFs and it is an easy read. I find myself laughing and blushing to this story so many time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

It was entertaining to read but I'm not quite convinced by their love. It feels like they fell in love too quickly just for sake of the plot. Especially the MC. I wish there was more development on their relationship before they became a couple.

I'd recommend this for fluff and funny moments to pass time but if you want something seriously good, this is not it.

Just finished re-reading. I remember reading this a while back and thinking it wasn't anything special. Now after going through the entire list in NU, I now know how wrong I was.

What do I say, it's very smooth-sailing, funny, cute, and fluffy. But the way it's written is straightforward. No twists and turns that come out of nowhere. No ooc. No dogblood. It goes straight to the heart of the fluff and doesn't try to over-reach into other things.

It's simple. The author knew exactly what they were going for in... more>> this story and achieved it.

Most importantly, the main CP don't go OOC just because they've finally gotten together. We don't get a blushing machine stuttering shou or a borderline creepy overly doting gong. God knows how many authors have transformed their otherwise interesting characters into such stereotypes for the sake of moving romance along.

Another bonus us that the netizen comments don't go on and on forever. <<less

Very meng, funny and heartwarming short novel. The MC and ML are adorable and their relationship is so wholesome with a pretty natural progression. There's no drama or complicated twist, it's just fluffy all the way.

I love the last few chapters a lot. I also like the side characters and hoping there's an arc or separate novel for Banana and Yam, but oh well!!

Although I like the story but it's not something that I would reread again. It's 4.5/5 for me.

The story has so much Meng and Dog Food that my mouth and eyes are sore from laughing. I will never forget Mang God and Lemon Daddy. They truly are your couple goals. I hope to find similar stories like this in the future because surely this novel is Golden.

5/5 A relatively short but very cute story of 2 gaming livestreamers who are uni students playing together and being cute. Story was short so not a lot of plot, but it was fluffy, cute and very enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Definitely worth reading for those who like fluff.

The characterization is interesting, and there is no over the top tropiness of the ML (like being very controlling and possessive). Of course there is some vinegar, but it's never too much - just enough to give you butterflies.

This was really sweet! It's short but fluffy read. I finished this in two hours, but the amount of dog food is already too much for me. It got recommend to me as a good e-sport novel so I read it.

It doesn't go deep into detail about the romance, and the plot is light, so don't hold your standards up too high for the romance drama or the plot. There isn't any drama, but it's really fluffy and quite funny. There are some parts that I do think the MC... more>> doesn't really act like how he is described, but I guess its an in-game and reality difference. The e-sport element is there, but it isn't especially heavy and although takes up a lot of space in the story, it isn't major.

I'd give it something between a 4 or 5 star, but I'll give it a 5 star just for the sake of it. Its a nice and short read for people who like fluffy romances with a very light plot. I'd definitely recommend it. Sorry for the bad English and have a nice day. <<less
