I see review after review on this page calling Chu Feng a rapist that goes around raping anyone that looks at him funny, and it's actually at the point where I feel the need to clarify the event to at least have some amount of fair representation.
Spoiler

To date, at 621 chapters translated, there have been all of two, again, 2, instances of r*pe involving Chu Feng. First, a girl's father drugged him so he would lose control of his faculties and become aroused, and then have s*x with his older daughter to force him to marry her instead of her younger sister, who is in Chu Feng's age group. It turns out to not be too big of an issue as far as the girl is concerned because she has some feelings for Chu Feng and doesn't mind the idea of him having multiple wives.

The second event occurs when the head of his school sets him up with a girl from another sect as a fiance. However, she cultivates a forbidden technique that will backfire on her if she ever has s*x. As such, she doesn't want to marry Chu Feng, or anyone else. But instead of opening her mouth to talk about this like a rational person would, she tries to drug Chu Feng so that her friend can r*pe him and force him to marry her instead. This is the driving point behind all of the reviews insisting that this story is bad because Chu Feng is a horrible evil rapist bastard. None of them mention the fact that he had no such intention until these two girls conspired to drug and r*pe him in the first place. He ends up suppressing the drugs with mental energy and knocking the girl who was going to r*pe him unconscious and then turns the tables on the girl he was there to get engaged to by deciding to r*pe her.
Now then. Is this distasteful? Yes, it is. It isn't a decision that I respect. But if Chu Feng hadn't been stronger than them, they would have been the ones committing r*pe, and no one would have a cross word to say about any of it. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

This novel... I remember the days it was still on flowerbridgetoo’s site, and I would check daily like a devout follower on whether a new chapter was released. It was good. That good. Unfortunately the keyword is ‘was’. The first 50 chapters were bloody amazing and although it was mainstream, it was goddamn well written. But I quit 450 chapters in, because it became repetitive. Far too repetitive. The MC offends what we know as a huge power, he gets stronger and defeats them. Anyone he hates, he kills.

Anyone... more>> who looks at him wrong, he kills. Anyone involved with his enemies, he kills. I swear, this is like a serial killer’s wet dream. There is little to no justification to his killings, even small children in the sect that offended him slightly he will kill. I love bloodthirsty MC’s as much as the next guy, but tone it down a bit! If the MC is intentionally crazy and as such kills everyone, that makes sense, and I support a novel like that wholeheartedly, but unfortunately, they try to justify his killings and act as though he is righteous...

Another repetitive point is this:

Spoiler

The world keeps expanding! I know it is a common trope in Xianxia, and happened in Coiling Dragon, but it had scenes that build up to it! There is foreshadowing of such worlds in other Xianxia, but in this one they never mention any bigger world before it ‘expands’. At first he is the strongest in his sect, then poof, there is a whole province. Cool, now that I’m the strongest in the province, now what? Oh don’t worry man, we got you covered! Here an entire continent! Now that I’m the strongest in the continent, now what? It’s cool, we got the oceans and the entire planet!

The thing that irritates me about this the most is that this is only 450 chapters in... and it is ongoing with more than 2k... Seriously what the hell, how much 'expansion' are you going to do?

The world where you are now is very small, and you are tragically wrong if you think you are the best simply because you are the strongest there. On the other hand, if you go to the wider world, then you may gain knowledge of your real self and unimaginable strength.

That may be a common premise among xianxia, but MGA brings it out in a unique way that will always make us await the next chapters. Moreover, it has good character development and constant pace (up to 500 chapters), very... more>> interesting and a must-read for xianxia fans. However, if you’ve got problem with hypocrites, s*xual assaults, and mass killings, then MGA may not be for you, because even the MC did all of that. <<less

Same opinion as nwms8.

MGA started as one of my favorite LN but it gets annoying to see the same things happening again and again. Powerful Guy piss off MC, MC comes back later with a powerup and wants to fight Powerful Guy.
Everybody makes fun of MC and ridicule him (as all adults/gramps should do with a child) but in the end he wins and makes more powerful guys into enemies and so on and so on.

Plus it has the archetype of most xanxia, all practitioners are jerks who are arrogant towards anybody weaker than them and respectful to whoever is stronger.
If anyone is weaker they'll kill/cripple him over the tiniest disagreement or petty greediness.
And MC is exactly the same.

I got acquainted with this novel after watching the anime, according to this title. But as it turned out, the screenwriters cut out a lot of events and changed the plot in places, and thank God they did it. After all, the original is a very mediocre job for teenagers and nothing more. The characters are monotonous, the main character is a bit silly, fights and villains are not interesting. Worse, some of the enemies are killed by minor characters. Formations and techniques are poorly described and often simply not... more>> even disclosed. If you are looking for an interesting book, then you need to look elsewhere, here you will find nothing but disappointment and wasted time. <<less

Iam just writing the blunt reaction *it sucks*

I have read 5665 chapters so far not because I like just because I dont want to say I my time was wasted.

The plot armor is damn strong.

... more>> The author is making all other characters s*upid while the MC is a smartass

Fights are either too easy for the MC (Plot armor activated) or its too hard that someone saves the MC (plot armor)

Its freaking long novel that you would lose track of everything. Their universe is levels that you dont understand a thing after a while.

The girls he loved/raped become irrelevant to the story so it starts with harem then magically his girls mention disappears

in nutshell its the worst ever and based on the story pace it would hit around 10k chapters trying to reunite with his family as you dont know whats going on with them. <<less

If you already read a lot of other wuxia novels then you should know that a lot of them has a lot of repetitive plot and characters and MGA is not any different but not too much compare to TGR lol

The MC is super talented, arrogant, charismatic, and strong. Unremarkable supporting characters who suddenly vanish and only appear or mentioned for a short time in the future. MCs character building is so long I think it took 2000+ chapters. The story is boring when he is still at Acestral Martial... more>> Lower Real but will take a better change when arrive at the Hundred something Ordinary Realm

Anyway, it is repetitive but good compare to other novels atleast the MC is not overpowered, the battles I think is so-so at least for me who is still reading ED, anyway this novel is good at the start then got in crippled 500+ chaps but eventually got better at least for me

If you read it till 2k or 3k chaps and endure the repetitiveness, only then can you enjoy the story especially Wang Qian which I think are more interesting than the MC lol

If you don't mind repetitive a bit of plot and character then it's worth a read also if you think the massacre and clan annihilation is bad try reading ASD <<less

There are depictions of bloody r*pes to death, the MC also r*pes women, and the story itself is so-so, there are many better novels even among Chinese.

This is your typical cultivation novel but with violence and a scum protagonist.

it's ok for when you have to wait for new chapters on other wn/ln the MC is really bloodthirsty and the story repeats itself like most Chinese wn but this one just changes 1 part of it so it would feel different but it's not MC kills some guy then some random young master gets angry MC kills everyone in the family/sect and moves on and then repeat

One of my first wuxia novels. It follows similar troupes to other cultivation Chinese novels. It starts off as a slightly below-average cultivation, face slapping power fantasy. Antagonists are all brainless fools that seem to start drama for the purpose of being killed off. However, after the first few arcs you'd start to notice that everything becomes very repetitive. The powercreep is real in this one. After a few hundred chapters you'd find out that the absolute strongest person in the MC's world is actually as weak as a bug... more>> compared to the world outside. This repeats again later on in the series. The translation itself is quite good. Saw the video of the author thanking Western readers of his story. Seems like a great guy. Nonetheless the writing itself leaves much to be desired. I don't recommend this particular one to other readers. There are plenty of more inspired novels of this kind that you should check out instead. At it's best (First few arcs) I'd rate it 3.5. But the last few thousand chapters are just a recycled formula with different names to power levels. <<less

The first 300 caps, you can see that it has potential, but than you realize that the MC always deals with his problems in the same way: more resources - more lvls - beating up all ppl till he can make it work, nothing more special about it

I had started reading this novel when It was introduced at wuxiaworld. As a friend said in review section for some people this novel is best but some people doesn't like this novel.

Some people always scold Bee and criticize him for the plots he didn't fill. I understand too but Bee has been writing this novel since 2013 after War God Asura. This is not an easy task to write too many things but at least he is doing somehow. Although I too want to read more chapters but I... more>> respect Bee's Dao heart :-p <<less

Honestly this novel has pretty good content and stories. However the biggest problem this author has with this story is his portrayal of women. Some women are indeed powerful but then he makes the MC think women always need his protection.

Also the ruthlessness of the MC is to the point of being straight hypocritical. If he sees you mol*sting a women he will exterminate your entire clan. But if he feels like it he can do it. Killing innocents only he is allowed to do it. Also he treats male... more>> and females completely different. One of his main ideologies is that whoever wants to kill me will die regardless. However if a beautiful women wants to kill him he will spare her. But if an ugly women wants to kill him he will torture her to death. And if a male wants to kill him he will exterminate his family. (He doesn’t actually do that but that’s the way his ideology goes).

Also there are some females who are arguably his biggest enemies and he spares them and wants to marry them which is pathetic. Another thing to add the MC is always getting praised how his cultivation speed is unrivalled. However the author decides to make his girlfriends go missing for hundreds of episodes and return with massive power ups which is beyond bullshit. They chase him throughout the world and somehow get massive power ups each time which is not explained properly. Overall the author has a good story to tell but the women in it have the biggest lot armor you will ever find. <<less

I think it's been about 3 years since I started this novel. I started this novel because it was similar to atg and tdg and well they're all from Wuxiaworld. I have to say that in the past the novel was really slow because the translator was really busy with his police stuff, at the time I really didn't mind. But now I must say the translator greatly improved the fact that he was able to constantly give 2-3 chapters a day most of the time truly helped. The story... more>> is on and off honestly, I really like it though, it's your basic Chinese fantasy martial arts wuxia novel. I'm on and off a lot with this novel I mean I love this novel but I think I prefer reading a whole bunch of chapters at once. This is a great novel if you're looking for something to kill a lot of time. It's been so long that I barely remember what the main character did when he was young. But that's why I love this book and love the fact that I started so long ago. I mean when I started this book the last translation only reached to when Chu Feng was still only in the nine provinces and hasn't even heard of the eastern sea yet. So when I think back about how Chu Feng used to be it's amazing thinking that the MC actually grew so much after all this time. I mean back then he r*ped a few girls, but now he really respects them more. Although he is still the same in being merciless and cruel to his enemies regardless of s*x, and in my opinion is also really good because it means he hasn't changed, he's still our Chu Feng. <<less

Honestly, this novel was one of the novels I've read in the beginning. It was part of why I am now hooked up in reading webnovels. I suggest you read it, the story is really interesting and there are so many chapters to binge read. Just don't think too much about it and read it light-heartedly so that you can enjoy it to the maximum.

MGA is an interesting novel and has its special attractiveness.

I had read some chinese novels with similar MC, but chu feng is really different. Of course it's just my opinion but even though the characters are normal (like in any other novels) and you could easly gusse what will thay say or do, still there is this feeling urging you to continue reading.

Yes, the story of the novel isn't new or unexpected but it's still and will always be one of my favorites.

Martial God Asura is a wonderful, if a bit repetitive, series. It wasn't as noticeable in the beginning, but after a couple thousand or so chapters, you start noticing the patterns of Chu Feng enters a new place, is generally underestimated due to such and such reasoning, upstages all those who looked down on him, and rinses and repeat until Chu Feng becomes respected by the whole realm for his strength and moral character.

Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that, as while the overall plot points may... more>> repeat themselves, the content specific to each arc does indeed change as it should, and you actually can see a change in Chu Feng's character as well as some of his relationships with others. This is most shown by
Spoiler

when he returns to his hometown from the Holy Land of Martialism to revive all the members of his adopted family that had died as a result of his actions, despite the fact that Chu Feng had a terrible relationship with them at the beginning of the series, bar a few exceptions.

[collapse]

Overall, I'll still rate MGA as 10/10 and excitedly read every new chapter that comes out. <<less
