“Can’t I properly read stallion novels anymore!”

Shen Yuan transmigrated into someone who’d tormented the young male lead almost to death, the scum villain Shen Qingqiu.

It must be known, the original Shen Qingqiu ended up being carved alive by his disciple, Luo Binghe, into a human stick, a human stick!

Ten thousand “f*ck your moms” rampaged through Shen Qingqiu’s heart:

“It’s not that I don’t want to cling to the male lead’s thighs, but who made him so f*cking black. The type who seeks thousand-fold retribution!”

Why have all the female lead’s scenes been forcibly given to him.

Why, as a scum villain, does he need to constantly sacrifice himself, blocking knife and gun for the protagonist!

Shen Qingqiu: “…I think I can still save him, one more time.”

People often forget this series when they talk about MXTX but I would like to say, yes maybe theres plot holes, yes maybe sometimes characters act ooc and maybe the writing isn't as good as MDZS or TGFC but this is still a very solid book! Considering this is her first novel, it's really well written and you understand nearly everything, it has good characters, good comedy, good romance and plot. If you like any of her other works or like transmigration novels, you should definetly give it a try!... more>> Giving 4 stars because indeed it isn't as good as the other two novels (I would give TGFC 4.5 / MDZS 5 stars) but I still had a wonderful time reading, this is much funnier and light-hearted than her other novels so it's a nice chance of pace. Give it a try, I'm sure you will at least enjoy yourself reading! <<less

I already read this before but reread it after I got the news that there is an anime. I don't remember much because it's been a long time since I read it.

It's quite funny for me at some part and a heartache at the middle part.

It's actually not hard to follow even though theres many event that happened, only I forgot some events which happened before so there are parts that are (? _ ?) for me.

How the romance develop is quite pitiful and hilarious for me. If I'm... more>> in MC's position I don't know what to feel.

It's a good read. I don't regret reading this again. <<less

This story is good and it's amazing the writing was perfect and the outline of the world and plot was mess up, but it's actually what's what's the story about, a transmigrator get into a story filled with holes. The relationship between the MC and the ML was really good it was only one sided from the ML part, until the end were MC finally became a couple with the Ml.

I enjoyed it very much that's actually what mattered the most so I give it 4.5🌟⭐💫✨

Out of all three MXTX novels, this is the novel that I kept on rereading and gaining new insights about with every reread.

The MC is unreliable, don't take most (if not all) of his words at face value. One of the side characters completely described MC's character: The type of guy who'd repeatedly step and stomp on a tr*sh novel but continue to read it until the very end. Knows even the littlest of details of said novel despite claiming how s*upid, hate-inducing-death, tr*shier than tr*sh it is.

Like, ok dude. You "hate" it. You "hate" it so much you followed the entire hundred-something-million-word webnovel from beginning to end. You "hate" it so much, so much that you're giving a serious number of f*cks about it. YOU CAN YOU UP, NO CAN NO BB, ah?

Spoiler

There's a term here called the "Protagonist Halo". Based on the SYSTEM's description, this halo simply prevents the Protagonist from getting killed because it's already an unwritten rule that the Protagonist could never die in their own story. Shen Qingqiu (MC), though, applies his own convoluted logic to the Protagonist Halo. He claims that, since Luo Binghe (ML) is the protagonist of the novel he transmigrated in, it's a sure universal fact that everyone is bound to be attracted to him, that everyone within Proud Immortal Demon Way (the webnovel MC transmigrated in) is prone to opening their legs for the protagonist. Oh, and apparently, the Protagonist Halo is also what makes Luo Binghe "cute, handsome, and hot." Yes, not even him - a TOTALLY straight guy - is capable of escaping the protagonist's charm that's saved for the supposed wives of the protagonist's supposed harem.

[collapse]
Gosh, he makes me cough so much blood, I'm slightly afraid I might die from blood loss.

The ML is your typical 'white lotus turned dark sheep'. Mm, he's not really evil-evil-evil, but you get the point. And of course, like any other ML, he's very devoted and very in love with the MC.
Spoiler

A lot of traumatic stuff happened to him which added to his anguish and instability throughout, like, half of the story? - If I'm remembering it correctly - so he's got Those Moments (and by that I meant his yandere-like qualities, post-darkening).

[collapse]

The side characters are side characters and are also very well-written. Plot-development was a 10/10. Casual readers who are used to reading this type of cliché (romance and characterization and all), SVSSS is worth checking out!

Oh yeah, and if you want to see more of MC and ML's lovey-dovey relationship, read the extras. They're GOLD. <<less

I didn't really enjoy this one as much as I thought I would...

The misunderstanding plot in romance settings is always a bit saddening to me. The comedy, which is exclusively based on such misunderstanding and on the character that the MC think the ML is, looses its appeal and becomes just an additional reminder of the s*upidity of the MC and the suffering of the ML.

I also wished that the development of romantic feelings for the MC side was rendered a bit more evident, while what we have is a... more>> doting teacher figure that suddenly gives himself to the student as to avoid him going mad. The s*x parts are also very stale, and I hate that the author had to make MC suffer in every single scene, as if an*l s*x couldn't be pleasurable for both parties involved. The romance in general is not very well done, always coming down to ML whining in jealousy and insecurity and MC kind of appeasing him quite miserably, while still trying to maintain some form of totally unnecessary bearing and modesty.

At least part of the plot is quite interesting, with the exploring of the back story of the MC, and the resolution of the various plot holes. The system trope is, as it's very common, quite poorly done, but that's ok. <<less

3-ish stars.

I like this significantly less than Mò Xiāng Tóngxiù's other novels. While the translation is of excellent quality, and the entire thing is very well done - plot, characters, etc - my issue is with 1.) the disciple to lover trope... Almost aways makes me uncomfy. Especially if it's written in the perspective of the shifu/shizun. It nearly always feels vaguely predatory. I know the protagonist of this series wasn't even aware of Luo Binghe's feelings for years, and Luo Binghe's feelings were unrequited for a lot of the... more>> story, but nevertheless, it produces in me uncomfy feelings. An example of a series that does a similar dynamic/trope well is Sha Po Lang. I think it helps that it's written in the perspective of the younger person in the relationship, though. Anyway. 2)
Spoiler

The r*pe scene. Yes, there is a r*pe scene. I won't really say much about it, but Luo Binghe r*pes Shen Qingqiu. It was at a turbulent period of the novel, and of course there was much regret later on, I'm sure, but I hate any novels which have r*pe between the protagonist in their love interest. Just... why. Also, besides the r*pe, Shen Qingqiu is always slightly unwilling in the relationship compared to Luo Binghe. I'm sure it's meant to be implied that he loves him deep down, but I wish the love was more well-defined... As it is, it seems like he just tolerates Luo Binghe's actions because he cares about him. Unlike in Tian Guan Ci Fu and Mo Dao Zu Shi, both of which having couples who are very clear, obvious, and vocal about their mutual love and respect.

This is an interesting story, I discovered it because of the main ship, but stayed for the humour because honestly, the main pairing is BAD.
Shen Qingqiu seems to not care about Luo Binghe in a romantic way, even at the end of the story he still calls him "this child" even after everything that happened, and it's clear he only sees him as a disciple? Maybe it was just badly depicted and he actually cares about Luo Binghe in that way, but it really didn't feel like that to me.

Also, well we know Luo Binghe is a tsundere, there is no denying that, but seeing how he was all badass but then kept crying every 10 chapters despite being horrible to Shen Qingqiu, I was really annoyed.

So, I would say, it is an entertaining story, but it's definitely not the best MXTX has written, and the relationship is toxic at best so I wouldn't call this a romantic novel. But since this is fiction, I had a good time reading it nonetheless.

I would definitely not recommend it if you want to see the good relationship people say they have, because you won't find it in this novel, maybe just keep looking at fan work if you want to see that, but if the world interests you then you should still give it a shot, the world-building isn't too bad, and it's relatively funny, it's easy to read, and I think the plot is somewhat original despite being a transmigration story, hence why I didn't downgrade it more.

I'm just going to review the plot, the characters and the development. (Pardon for my grammar and my little rant)

[Plot & its development:

I actually like the concept of making the MC reincarnated as a villain with a sassy system guide in a stallion novel. He can persuade and talks out with the system whenever he's having a problem or engaging OOC. Him being a ball of anxiety on the inside while keeping that calm facade on the outside is hilarious. The MC is also oblivious of the ml's developing... more>> feelings towards him. I find the first several chapters entertaining and good. However when things got out of hand (like after the MC was thrown out), I find the plot a little messy. It's like some of the parts are left unresolved or hanging because the plot was too focused on the MC and ml. For instances, what happened to Huan Hua Palace Sect and demon world after the last brawl? Were they left in chaos? I wish the plot expanded further like they'd have a stronger resolution and intricate matters to deal. But the story only revolves around the MC and ML so the story is simple. There's nothing wrong about the story's simplicity. Maybe I was just slightly disappointed because I expected something more.

Characters:

When it comes to the characters, the individuals that were carved in my brain were the MC, ml, Liu Qingge, ml's father, Zhuzi-lang, the author and Mobei-jun. Basically because they were the only ones that displayed a clear personality. The rest are quite the same. Shen's disciples, Liu Mingyan, Sha Hualing and other few characters whose names I forgot, have potential to grow as characters but since they don't have any highlights at all, they're just stuck. Also, I'm having problems with their personalities. Because in all honesty, Liu Qingge sounded more worthy to be the ML for me because of how he acts towards Shen. I had the huge urge to ship Shen and Liu Qingge but I can't because I know they won't end up together. I still like Shen and Luo Binghe but they're lacking.

Developments:

Now to explain the lackluster between Shen and Luo Binghe. First of all, Luo Binghe is really selfish. I mean I completely understand that due to his chaotic, tragic and dark past. Because of the stuffs from the past, he developed a possessive, masochist and baby personality. But pal, that doesn't mean Shen have to tolerate it all 'till the end. Binghe's quite toxic (or maybe completely toxic). He did change a little in the end, like he's a little calmer perhaps? But the bad sides are still stronger. I think the masochistic, possessive and baby personality is fine (?) as long as it doesn't go overboard? It has to have limits. Sometimes I think Shen doesn't romantically love him and just pitied and chose him for the sake of world peace. I saw more development between Mobei-jun and the author because Mobei-jun became less violent towards author and author became less coward in the end. I want to see Shen and Binghe change a little for the sake of each other. But all I see is Shen just trying to understand and adjust for Binghe over and over again. I wish Binghe would also try to understand and adjust for Shen but it's just him and his overwhelming jealousy. Shen can't even stay longer at Qing Jing Peak and be with his friends from other peaks. They're sweet and all, the ship is nice, but I also feel bad for Shen.

Meanwhile Shen and Qingge, have an interesting development. HEAR ME OUT WILL YA. They were once enemies who wanted to slit each other's throat so much. Qingge have a bad temper and Shen have a mean personality. I learnt that Shen wasn't a complete bad guy when author advised villain Shen in extra chapters to act calmer in the future when someone's qi deviation explodes (which was Qingge's). Which means in the original story, villain Shen didn't mean to kill Qingge when Qingge went wild. He was trying to stop him but ended up killing him. It was a shame that days or months after the author told villain Shen about that, villain Shen isn't there anymore. It was when the modern Shen took over. Shen became kind which made everyone surprised. I notice that Qingge tries to restrain his temper whenever he's with Shen. He still acts strict but tries to not to go beyond strict for Shen's sake. He's gentle whenever he spars with Shen and tries to make him understand about the techniques calmly. Also, I like the fact that Qingge's the one who always find or keep Shen's fan. It's subtle but sweet. Qingge fought for Shen's body throughout the five years nonstop when he died so that his body could have proper burial. He also didn't force Shen on anything, he was always there to help. If only he's stronger than Binghe, he'd probably won't let Binghe entrust Shen. THIS MAN IS SUPERB. Pal, Qingge deserves better.

Lastly, the overall development of the side-characters are disappointing. It's all focus on Binghe and Shen. Like idk what happened to Sha Hualing and Huan Hua's peak master's daughter. They probably despaired forever with the disciples. Even if the story focused on Binghe and Shen, they didn't get much development either. Binghe's world only revolves around Shen alone so he didn't mature socially and probably mentally as well. Shen doesn't discipline or scold Binghe further because he's worried about Binghe's 'glass heart' so he suffers. And with that, I doubt there'll be growth for the both of them.

The plot and characters are both interesting (I genuinely really like it). It's just that both lacked development.] <<less

The first time I read it I felt this was a quite good novel with nice characters. But rereading it a year later hit differently from the first time.
I remembered fragments of comedic chapters and still had the overall plot in my head so I wanted to completely forget it first then read it again. It was an impulsive decision but I realized how much I missed those lovely characters and writing style. I found myself being absorbed in the book and discovered things I missed from the first try. There’s no character I despised or wished for karma. Everyone had their own stories and heartfelt moments especially both the talented sovereign uncle and goodhearted pure nephew. Loved the each and every person (character) with their baggages with lightened sorrow and regrets that could be either mended or not. Really have my respect for not just giving up and straight up committing su*cide or something.

Was it good? Eh, alright. Did I enjoy it? Yes.

Do yourself a favor and read this, not as a love story, but as a character development session for an entire cast, including a villain that no longer exists.

The author is making very pointed commentary about two larger genres simultaneously, both straight-harem and BL, and honestly it works really well as being that... If you have familiarity with what the author is trying to do. If you are not well acquainted enough with genre choices, this novel reads as way more... more>> tr*shy than it probably deserves. If you are too well acquainted with the genres, this novel might just be a bit of a shrug.

That said, whether intentional or not, this book makes EXCELLENT commentary on male power-fantasies. <<less

After completing this novel, the first thought was... what the heck did I just read?

Okay, I liked how it was in the beginning where Shen Yuan treated white lotus Luo Binghe really well, and everything was fine and dandy. I can see the appeal of their relationship. And Shen Yuan's inner monologue in comparison to how he looked outside as a austere immortal made me laugh.

Then the Abyss happened. And everything derailed from there.

Many times I want to shake Shen Yuan because hello! Shen Yuan, your misunderstandings are not helping,... more>> they're aggravating! Especially to the protagonist! Who is mentally compromised by trauma, instincts and a bloody, demonic sword!

Their relationship then went down the yandere road and I know I'm gonna be in for a rough ride because dude, they usually don't handle things healthily. Plus other factors.

I'm kinda sad towards Yue Qingyuan, because that love he had towards his childhood friend was pure (and hindered by, yes, misunderstandings) but his friend is gone and his love will remain unfulfilled. This is one pairing I can get behind, even above Luo Binghe and Shen Yuan, if all misunderstandings are resolved.

So moral of this whole story? COMMUNICATION IS IMPORTANT! It'll save you a lot of heartache and unnecessary work. <<less

I truly think this is one of the most enjoyable novels I've ever read. The humour hits almost every time, and the main character is just so damn relatable. Think: millennial student who swears every second sentence and spits out auntie blood the next. C'mon bruh. The characters too, feel as if they're living and breathing, and the world -- despite having its fair share of plot holes -- has a certain warmth to it, which you can't help but feel comforted by.

To be honest, the plot wasn't particularly the... more>> best, but I don't think the book's main focus was a good story per se; rather it was probably more intended to be like light popcorn which you sorta enjoy throughout the day, or maybe a warm blanket to comfort you after a horrible maths exam. And it hits that note perfectly. So if you're one of those MXTX die-hard fans who came from her second or third book because of the PLOT, I'll just quickly warn you that you might not be particularly attracted to the style of this one. That's completely fine by the way! Everyone has different tastes. <<less

I've already finished this novel and this is the first one that dragged me to like reading novels. Of course, restricted to BL and transmigrations novels only hhu. And for someone who stopped reading novels because it somehow hurts my brain, like me, I'm proud I actually finished one in a long time.

There's even a time when I found that the novel is still not enough and I dug through various fanfics (which is also my first time doing so) and I'm not regretting it ( (༎ຶ ◡︎༎ຶ). SVSSS... more>> really helped me widen my world-view, hhe.

Anyways, about the story, it's very intriguing. Our uke MC is such a drama queen but nonetheless cute and funny. Our ML is such a puppy yandere for our beloved Shen Qingqiu, hence, a quite unhealthy relation. However, I still support them wholeheartedly.

Spoiler

Misunderstanding is big in this novel but it's understandable. SQQ is convinced that a small mistake would cause him his death because of his identity and LBH, on the other hand, is in a worse situation. Imagine his perspective where his stern and aloof shizun abruptly became kind and forgiving, then suddenly throwing him in the abyss in cold shoulder, what would you think?

[collapse]

Either way, it's a good story. Albeit this is the last one that I discovered from MXTX's work, this is the first one that actually triggered me to reading the novel because I cannot wait for the donghua. Support for our god MXTX♡ <<less

First of all, I honestly enjoyed reading this novel. It entertained me enough to keep me in my seat for hours until I eventually finished reading it (that's why I gave it a perfect five stars). But being entertaining doesn't equate to actually being good or great. If you look deeply into the novel, you can much pretty much say that it lacks a lot of things. I won't delve much into the topic.

To whoever reads this review of mine, try reading SVSSS. See for yourself its worth.

So yeah this is not something that I would recommend for those who are here after reading MDZS and expecting same experience. Dont approach SVSS in the same way as MXTX other works. For one this is the author's first work and her writing have definitely improved over the years. If you're putting too much expectation then you're bound to be disappointed. Just read it as a new novel that is your guilty pleasure because this the kind of those books that your friends know that you read but your... more>> parents don't.

To be honest SVSSS is my bias for being the first ever web novel I've read and being the first one I read out of MXTX collection. Another plus point is that there is a lot of room for improvement (not so much of a plus point for the author) which leads to a lot of satisfying fanfiction. So I would recommend this to anyone who just wants to spur out devastatingly angsty fanfics or enjoyed MDZS fics more than the original work and wanted more reading material.

And for those who are looking for a good novel to read please remember this just another one of those QT (quick transmigration) novels. So enjoy it for its plots and plotholes. For its comedy and idiocy. And definitely for satisfying and unsatisfying end.

*Unasked recommendation*

So there is this fic called "How to train your Shen QingQiu" in Ao3 (not mine its tenmei_kj's) which was just like a satisfying desert after a heavy meal. So if you're done with this then try reading that.

Trigger warning there is torture, misogyny, r*pe, non-con, necrophilia, yandere and lot of wierd stuff thats common in a adult Mary Sue world..... you know to show how loving the ML is 😑

I absolutely love author Mo Xiang Tingxiu's novels. Seeing it was her first novel it's still well written.|^_^|

It was my first reading about transmigrating into web novel with a system at that time when the novel was published 2015. So it was quite amazing. The plot itself was interesting. But now it may feel cliche story cause many other novels have same setting.

This is not too bad nor too good...

Kudos to those who love it and "I understand" to those who don't like it.

I actually read this twice and am thinking of when I should read it a third time...

... more>> The first time, I really didn't like it... I felt everything was too fast, the MC didn't really like ML and stuff. But I always wondered why people like it so much... so, some time later I gave it another try.

The second time, I felt it was slightly better than the first, but still isn't my fave, it's in my "meh" section, as in, it could be better or there are better ones. My good opinion rose a bit, but not that much.

I'm currently thinking I could give it a third try but currently not interested... maybe some other time.

People could give it a try, you could love it instantly or dislike it instantly or maybe you could be like me and every try you give it, your opinion changes...

I think every novel deserves an opportunity, even if there are reviews saying it's sh*tty or something, others might like it because it is their cup of tea. <<less

I like the world building, and the well developed plot. The MC is hilarious, appearing elegant and stoic on the outside, while screaming and commenting the cliché situations on the inside. He became attached to his sect people. The side characters are great, few 1-dimensional villain (if there is, it is the jealous concubine type).

The real problem for me is the ML. I really can't stand the him. Like, his behaviour makes me want to vomit. 🤮 A complete yandere. He will act cute toward the ML, pretending to listen... more>> and agree with him, when in fact he'll do the opposite, or constantly make the same mistakes and choices🤮 Straight A-manipulation.

And a lot of time he deliberately makes the ML suffer because he himself is suffering.👿

We know he loves and is obsessed with the MC, and there is a somewhat reason why his behaviour is total yandere, but it doesn't excuse everything.

I don't feel that the MC is in love with the ML. More like he likes him, and is attached, so he doesn't mind doing xxx stuff with him, but I don't feel like there is a deep love. More like a deep affection. Like towards a child you keep indulging.. <<less

"The story that circulated among the people of the world has already come to an end.... But, the story between you and me has only just begun."

My feelings after finishing this novel are all over the place; I feel like I might cry from sadness, and from happiness all at once.

This novel was far from perfect, and if you try to compare it to MXTX's later novel, Mo Dao Zu Shi, there's no way that it would win. But don't let that deter you from reading it, because it's... more>> honestly still quite amazing in it's own right. With a plot that's unpredictable, tons of funny dialogue, and a romance that is beautiful, what more could someone want?

I know a lot of people weren't fans of the romance, and some didn't even feel that they should be together at all in that way. Obviously I didn't agree (given my calling it beautiful and all), and this is mainly because once I began to understand the characters, it all sort of fell into place in my head. While they may make some dumb choices, and not always treat each other right, given their past experiences and traumas, it makes so much sense, and I've never been one to shy away from something that's a bit more painful, heart wrenching, and even slightly twisted. And who could ignore their really sweet, and touching scenes that just melt your heart completely.

There are some things that I didn't like, otherwise my rating would've been a perfect 5 stars (and honestly, this is could still become that perfect rating in the future, that's how much the little hiccups are inconsequential). But usually right as I would start to not care for something, the story would change directions, and pull me back in. However, there was one scene specifically towards the end that kind of rubbed me the wrong way, but that was quickly rectified by how the characters acted and reacted to it afterwards.

Basically, this book made me feel so many things, good and bad, and along the way I sort of fell in love with it and with the two main characters. And I can see myself rereading this in the future, as well as watching the anime, and live action drama. <<less
