Just like they said too much financing and little action, but for me personally it is quite interesting, from there I could know financial history generally.

But what I dont like is the MC is conrtadictory, greedy, too ruthless, and dictatorship, some example

  • MC love his family and promised to make them happy in this life, but we can see there is barrier in their relationship. There are not many intimate moment between them, the parents are more like accommodating him bcs they know he is different, and MC most of the time MIA doing his thing, like there is no time for his parent. Does not that make them seem sad, their only child, but he is not there.
  • His only parner in dungeon, wo yonhee, at first he treated her harsh, now a bit better, but she does not has personality, just following the MC. She has a rare skill, he needs her but he treat her harshly, he get all the good thing from her, and when she seem a bit interested in the item he got, he soon thing that she is dangerous and need to becareful of her. I mean is it not normal for a person to want good thing, and it is not like she has any plan about it. Eventhough there is a contract that she need to give her item and insignia to him, cant he gives her some for her protection ? Although he would give her later, but it is when he hv many item, and he is proud about it like she should be grateful. But she is your team, you need her, man.
  • There is also unnecessary death for Leon a.k.a casino chip. I know it is wrong of leon to follow him, but he dont hv any bad idea about him, is it not normal for you to want to know your 'KIND'. Then he proced to take all his asset, then make him train in military for 18 month, later force him to enter dungeon by spartan way, and he push him to the limit, when he make mistake trying to kill him to take his escape insignia when he tought the MC had collapsed, the MC proced to abondone him to be killed in dungeon. Yeah it is a mistake, leon is a coward who is pushed to the limit, body and mind, MC knows it, leon dont hv a chance to be a danger to him, but alas MC still proced to let him die in dungeon that he forced to him, despite he knows leon is a coward.
  • MC is ruthless and hypocrite,

Finally a different take on the regressor genre. A story about finances first and dungeons second.

While it is a good look into history and has inspired me to read more on the topic there are some issues. The author has problems presenting information in a clear format. It may be difficult to follow along even in the dungeon sections. With just a little bit more clarity this could of been something incredible.

I recommend the manwha first and if you liked it, read this.

I give this 4 stars for a lack of movement in the plot. He spent the majority of 70+ chapters just making money. It is very intriguing, but could have been shortened greatly. It starts with very fantasy-like things such as a system and powers, but becomes mundane quickly with technical terms and stock percentages. It needed to have a strong base before it changed subjects, yet it left us wondering what to do, but with no answer.

The dungeon parts are very lackluster, where he just goes in, despite the... more>> knowledge that he would die 99/100 times.

These are just the bad things about the novel. It is worth a read, just not the best. <<less

I rather liked it, to be more precise, it kind of grew on me. At the beginning I was hesitant what to feel about this story since it seemed to be centered around politics, economy and investment stuff. But it eventually got onto the right track and the real story began, so to speak. All in all it's a very 'serious' kind of story, from the beginning to all the way until end.

Thinking back, if I were to imagine the same kind of story with the elements the author used,... more>> I simply cannot think a way to make it any better. So I would say the writing, even though it wasn't completely to my liking, was in its own way quite impeccable.

I read these type of web novels mostly for the high, I admit it. Fast gratifications, face slaps, comedy, happy stuff- those are my usual meals. This book didn't have any of those. There were satisfying moments, there were situations where the characters were above others which pleased me, but mostly this was an underdog story until the very end. A story about rising from the worst possible situation all the way towards top, and surviving. And I know some of you are searching especially for that, it's just that I'm not.

Still, I did enjoy the ride. Today I feel like leaving the usual generic story rating building blocks to other people, and I'll just say that this book stays very true to it's genres with its rather grim setting and mature themes. If those, and what else little you can glean from the title and description are your things, then you'll most likely enjoy this book immensely. <<less

Low ratings here are from readers that hated the initial financial arc, which I do sympathize, since I was also surprised that the dungeon/leveling system doesn't start till after a bit later, after the introduction arc. I didn't hate it though, since it was a breath of fresh air from the average KR dungeon troupe, which btw, I binged the fk out of.

Anyways, just wanted to leave this here, THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST DUNGEON/LEVELING SYSTEM I've read by far, and no, its not because of the financial aspect,... more>> it's really one of the best and most solid leveling system I've encountered, so go and read it, if you don't mind the slow plot progress. <<less

Definitely a different kind of KR regression novel with its own intricacies. While I kinda like it, I find it a struggle to finish it due to the frequent POV change and pacing. Would still recommend others to give this one a read.

It was a pretty decent novel but especially in the first 150 or so chapters it feels like the Focus is more on finance than combat. Dont get me wrong the finance Part was well written its just not the reason I picked up the novel.

I found this story interesting due to its references to real events. It delves into real life conspiracy theories and makes them sound plausible.

I'll say that the plot started to get a little stale after the "Day of Advent". The ending felt a little rushed but it's better than dragging on.

On the beginning this novel is all about build up. I would say that character development is little low compared to others but my god it gets so many other things right. World building and characters in the world all just make sense. While it is not perfect I god 5/5 on enjoyment scale.

It also has an manhwa, but novel is equally as good.

Never seen an novel about dungeon gates focus on the financial part before the awakening. I actually get invested in reading about the stock and business empire building with MC in the background controlling everything to prevent an monopoly investigation.

MC is basically building up all the supporting foundations for the future hunters, while also maintaining his advantage by accumulating strength based on future knowledge. It all comes to an point chp 200ish where dungeon finally awaken, showing all the help... more>> MC's has done with the finance stuff.

It's also really damn cool to see MC basically control the world's economy.

The most beautiful writing of a novel ever. This novel builds a world within you to see, unlike other novels where they focused only on certain actions fight sequence. It might looks cool, but they usually sell the ideas of their titles only and stick with the theme. But here, you get pulled in their world. You can see their worries, joy, and fights directly in your mind.

Ofc if you new to reading or novel then you might not like this because this focused on world building, and the cool... more>> action stuff is minimalized.

The author mashes up two concepts but as of chapter 86 both still feel like they're on the slow burn.

On one hand you have the typical regressor prepping for the eventual dungeon break, the whole shebang of gamer system, items, skills, etc. Even though the dungeons seem slightly more brutal in terms of danger and injuries relative to the characters' strength, plot armor kinda makes all of that moot.

Now on the other hand, you have a story of financial investing in the 1980s-2000s, hedgefunds, bonds, and so on. 'So much... more>> so that I feel the exposition on investments take up 70% of the story. 'Which is so far actually a good thing because the depth of the explanations is refreshing compared to the magical 2-step processes the average regressor protag takes to amassing a fortune. You could actually excise the entire dungeon/awakener/gamer parts of this novel and still have a very competent story.

I really enjoy hearing someone's take on the currency bubbles, the collapse of the USSR, the Dot Com burst and so on. However, the protagonist makes it clear that none of this will matter in the long run when dungeons start appearing across the world and he can't write about real historic events anymore. I'll update my review when I get there.

*Note: Also there's much more than 20 chapters. This was another novel that was stolen from us by the big novel websites.* <<less

Main Character is impeccable with his tenacious mind and his determination to reach his goals is inhumane!

the story itself is interesting as it unfolds and the way the characters are portrayed are relatable

the most exciting part of this novel is the part where he’s planning everything before he implements his plan into action so it gives realism. He’s not a hero and he doesn’t have the halo of a hero that has everything going according to his plans without reason.

I've just finished reading the 205 chapters freely available and can say that this is probably the best regressor hunter story I've read.

Ignore reviews saying that this is "just a story about stocks". As the story progresses, the fantasy elements come more and more into play. Even the non-fantasy elements become more exciting and intense in later chapters as the MC's influence and power over the world expands and he starts developing his various organizations.

If you're looking for a regressor hunter story where the MC doesn't become s*upidly OP, s*upidly... more>> fast, and the Author actually takes time to build up the story and world building, then this is for you.

6/5 will absolutely re read in the future. <<less

I was introduced to this work through its manhwa adaptation few years back and I jumped on the novel after the webtoon went on an indefinite haitus.

Spoiler

The MC before his regression was one of the last hunters defending humanity from the threat of vicious monsters and two groups of godlike humans that decided to have a pen*s measuring contest without care for the rest of humanity. The MC sadly ended up kicking the curb and with the usual shenanigans we expect from this genre, regressed.

Personally I am torn on this novel, as the dungeons and stuff sections are gritty and have a weight to them- that shows how hard it is and despairing it is to dive into dungeons.

On the other hand this novel is heavy with the money acquiring, and that takes up a considerable percentage of the story. This section at the start is a fun read but as the story progressed it became a painful hill to climb. I am sure by the end of it I became a certified stock trader, so if any of you wants to become a millionaire- contact me.

[collapse]

This story in a nutshell is slowburn read, that so far has: a steady foundation, interesting dungeon storytelling and characters interesting enough that you can be invested in.

Overall this story is for people who are interested in slower paced stories with dungeons and game like systems that are willing to read through a jarring arc full of stocks and money making escapades. <<less

A commenter in one of the early chapters wrote that this story isn't particularly revolutionary, but that it is written in a captivating way, and I think that's a decent appraisal.

The translator and editor do a very good job, including detailed notes that explain things that otherwise might not come across.

It has plenty of the flaws that most regression novels do (such as being 13, looking like an adult, and being taken seriously in an adult world), but what I think it does well is in its detail. Very detailed... more>> on how the MC uses past knowledge to earn money, difficult dungeon fights where the MC struggles even with all his knowledge and abilities, and interesting side characters with thoughts and abilities of their own.

I also like that the MC isn't completely morally bankrupt. He has a lot of trouble trusting others, and definitely has trauma and PTSD from his past life, but he still cares about his family and is willing to (slowly) make connections with others. <<less

A lot of the finance stuff goes over my head, even though I'm vaguely aware of the events that happened.

That being said, of the KR regressor dungeon crawlers that I've read, this one feels the most "realistic" in the sense that even though he uses knowledge from his past life (incarnation? Idk), he still struggles even though he's awakened stronger powers than he previously possessed; and while the reader knows the protagonist will go from being weak to strong, there is still an element of suspense because at 105 chapters... more>> in he still struggles to clear the lowest classes of dungeons, and I believe the eventual payoff will be that much sweeter for it. <<less

Not soo bad neither sooo good. Mostly contains economics ands tock marketing, which I like to read about. Action is so and so - not so much interesting. MC is not op, which is really great. Watching him grow is really wonderful.

A good LN for readers who like currency wars
