I Am the Fated Villain

Immediately after Gu Changge realized he had transgressed into a fantasy world, the world’s protagonist, and fortune’s chosen, vowed to take revenge on him. Envied by all, he not only has the female lead head over heels for him but he’s also treated as a distinguished guest wherever he goes. Fortunately, Gu Changge’s prestige and power are superior to everyone else’s, so shouldn’t it be easy to trample on a mere fortune’s chosen?

Hold on… There’s a system dedicated to milking and harvesting from the protagonist? Gu Changge smirked. “Seems like even fate wants me to fulfill my destiny as the Villain of this world!”

The novel begins with a cold protagonist transmigrating into a villain at the top of the food chain, facing the absurd luck of his enemies. However, the protagonist's power creep quickly becomes apparent, killing any suspense. The story becomes dull, with a bland main lead and a series of useless arcs that waste hundreds of chapters introducing throwaway characters.

The harem characters make it through the story and occasionally serve a purpose, but there is no romance to capitalize on. The harem and the MC's family are the only important characters,... more>> every other character either exists to praise the MC or to mock some random wuxia cliché and die tragically.

The author keeps pulling elements of world-building out of his ass. Peerless characters appear out of nowhere, clans and entire territories are dropped on the reader without any warning. The opposite also happens, things that seem important at the beginning lose their importance and are forgotten at the end, like the system.

The author struggles with distances and descriptions of scenes, often fluffing up powerful attacks as being capable of shattering stars and even galaxies, only to end up destroying something like a city wall. It's also always unclear where events take place. The author treats locations as superficial decorations.

The world setting is so incoherent that it creates plot holes. For example, cultivators have a lifespan of millions of years. Yet everyone around the MC, including important princes and princesses, is about 20 years old. This creates situations such as a 40-million-year-old emperor worrying about his 18-year-old son, soon to be the future emperor, completely ignoring the fact that he probably has millions of sons by now.

The author's attempt to avoid wuxia clichés is no guarantee for good writing. The story is not well planned and the upcoming big reveal isn't worth the time. However, if you can tolerate the drawbacks, give it a try or consider the well-done comic book adaptation.

P.S.: I should also say a few words about translation since we have 3 teams competing. If you have trouble choosing a translation, check out the spoiler below.
Spoiler

Demonic translation, Divine dao library, Fantasy world online. Which is better?
-----------------------------------------

Demonic TL:

Cons: a barely edited MTL at first. They put annoying comments inside the text. I also caught them adding some things that didn't exist in the original novel. Paywall after c256. Translation is slow. Sometimes they don't translate proper names, leaving them as is, which makes it difficult to remember and discern clans and places in text.

Pros: they improve the quality eventually and the amount of unnecessary creativity gets reduced. Still not perfect, sometimes they get whole paragraphs wrong.
-----------------------------------------

Divine dao library (my thoughts about the translation until c174) :

Cons: they're also adding new parts to sentences that were not present in the original text. But unlike DTL, DDL does not just add new text, it replaces the original text, which creates errors and distorts facts. Sometimes these facts are too important to the plot. Like, for example, when the DDL version introduces the demonic heart, it says "The Demonic Heart came from him, the one who took over the body. Meanwhile, the Daoist Bone belonged to the vessel", when the literal translation is "The demonic heart belongs to him. But the Daoist Bone is not", means the heart belongs to the original body, not to the one who took over it. The bone, on the other hand, does not belong to the vessel, it belongs to someone else.
Sometimes the translator's creativity breaks context, for example, when Ye Chen's teacher appears for the first time, DDL translates it "In his ring, a homely figure of a woman appeared...", when the source says "a very faint female figure...", as in she is literally transparent, in the form of a spirit.
It's simply irresponsible to replace parts of the text the translator struggles to translate with something "close enough", without figuring out the real meaning and DDL does it too often.

Although, the worst part is that the DDL translation sometime, either because the source they work with is buggy or DDL is censoring problematic content, omits whole paragraphs of text.

Another thing is that DDL, in their effort to write in a fancy way, tends to flavor every single conversation. Whether it's one of the main characters or a random passerby commenting on something, they all end up sounding the same, a little reserved and oddly polite. It's like listening to an audiobook where the narrator reads every line the same way.

Lastly, DDL is too creative when they translate proper names. They ignore already established traditions in translation community in a favor of going over the top in naming clans and techniques. Who in their right mind would translate "Heavenly Dao Immortal Palace" as a "Skyward Schloss"? The way they translate luck colors is also ridiculous.

Pros: they string sentences into paragraphs. They don't put immersion breaking comments in text. The translated text reads like a real piece of literature. Fast translation. Quality of translated text gets better around c170 (as in, it gets more correct, not necessary less creative or less censored).

Update (c500) : The guys are getting better. The translation more or less follows the original text. Different people sound and feel different. The translation is not overly flavored. Even the colors have been changed to normal ones. The biggest drawbacks now are the repeated grammatical errors and wrong pronouns. For a free translation it's a very decent level.
-----------------------------------------

Fantasy world online:

Cons: translation quality takes a nosedive around c174 (c200 as FWO counts it), it's no different from MTL since then (don't know for how long). Same as DDL, they censor words, which is ridiculous for a translated text. They also put the immersion-breaking comments inside the text.

Pros: a good ratio of "respects_the_source" to "well_edited" for the first 150 or so chapters. The way they translate personal names is perfect. Fast translation.
-----------------------------------------

My personal choice is to read FWO until it degrades to MTL, then switch to DTL/DDL (or go back to FWO if it improves later) .

(Edit) You know what f it, here I'll say it, the story is dying and starting to get repetitive, yes I get it I'm not finished the novel but I'm well ahead of most, so please before making a review atleast feel the ending. I mean cmon do you really think a one shot author can write it that well for 1200 chapters for this to even come close to a 5 or 4 star because if you do, you have a real nice sense of humor there. You... more>> have to know that there's later plot ofc, but how long does op last before it bores someone? Like can you deal with MC being pushed around by fMC and one shotting every villian for the rest of the story until well MC sacrifices himself or it ends? Ah yes right did something catch my eye from one of the reveiwers yes, was it brainded yes, was this unesacery yes, Quick rant below

Spoiler

This rant seems to go nowhere but it explains how the story will go
Fun fact did you know author has a thing for women wanting to curb stomp, kill and hate MC,
Welllllllll it's boring.. Boring and boring as the author decides to mega buff the MC into oblivion with all his trump cards or backhands that you mostly won't see. To put it simply his abilities aren't explored enough. Had potential, well kinda, it has a nice idea but a bad execution. Like sugar during a race all that energy just to crash and burn. Too much plot amour, side characters such with the normal MC only liking tsuades (can't spell) and bla bla bla. Can't picture the world well, maybe that's the experience, the rating of this is kinda overated. It's OK I mean you probably won't regret reading this, would say that MC isn't cold enough to fMC or maybe just gets trapped by them too much. MC just gets pushed around too much, if only he had more control. Maybe if the author had smarter side characters. Maybe better side characters and FMC. MC just happens to be God and can read everyone's mind. It's no longer taking a guess it's him rewriting the story to be about with he thinks. Ps it gets worse if u wanted to know, also read the other reviews about the good things too lazy to write them.

no romance but the author tried.

Author also tried to write a decent MC but failed

Side characters included

anyways o does this get worse I mean it's like MC has a soft spot for females and is readable by females I means he's getting played like a checkers player who's paid the creator to cheat and reshape the game into his own but still losing to the chess player.

Hello everyone, I have to say that this novel is a special one. I really liked the first 150 chapters, after which I dropped it and the reason for this is of vital importance for the english reading audience and I'll discuss it towards the end, it simply can't be left out of the review despite not directly being related to the source work.

The protagonist, gu changge, exists in an universe where favored daughters and sons of heaven show up everywhere, protected by the grace of the heavens, doted upon... more>> with countless opportunities and inexplicable luck. Here, he takes the role of the supreme heavenly villain who is an abnormality outside of the whole fortune of heavens thing, so he has neither good nor bad luck, but with his system he can absorb the luck of people with high fortune after ruining them step by step or, in the case of the daughters of heaven, seducing them.

He's a rare protagonist in that he's evil for the sake of being evil. He has no particular trauma, experience or reason to be evil other than his body previously being dominated by a devil heart and his transmigration memories where he hates run of the mill lucky protagonists. Everything he does is as if it's for the sake of being evil, or rather to enhance his own might and he loves playing evil by bullying people. Basically, he's tr*sh in a way and he's more blessed than even all other protagonists, never having to strive for much as it all falls into his lap, he simply spends his days being calculating and plotting. But this is what we're here for, right?

That's the crux of the issue, to like this novel, you probably have to read a lot of other chinese cultivation novels first so you can get familiar with their plots and character stereotypes. Hell, the author literally copies some stories altogether, the first guy we meet is that guy from battle through the heavens in almost every way with slightly altered plot like his master being female, later on we find the genderbent guy from perfect world (with a slash of tales of herding gods) who is now the little sister of the MC who he stole the bone from. Then we have protagonists from the future and corpse possessing dudes, you know, everything we already know.

Now, if you ever found yourself thinking "hey, I hate this kind of dude", maybe you tired of the tropes after a while or some of their ridiculous luck or actions rubbed you the wrong way, in this novel you can fulfill your desires as he cuckolds and kills the males and conquers the females. That's the entire shtick and where all the fun comes from, he's morally bankrupt in every way.

By the way, be ready for him never killing any female daughters of heaven. He actually kills non-favored females, but the ones that are important he'll never kill. All the males will die though. There's some s*x but it's just at the level of "they tossed under the sheets" and boom, done, no big deal. Also, while he doesn't kill the favored daughters of heaven, I can somewhat get behind that because he shows no real affection for them other than as tools, they can provide him continuous amounts of fortune as they keep on generating and "sharing" it with him. The author tries to make sure we know that he "doesn't think with his D" and that he's not like other protagonists... Oh, and be ready for many kind of moronic "even though she's female" and "I know so much about women, they're all like this" kind of comments since the author thinks women aren't the same race as men and have very specific thought processes that men don't have.

Anyway, that's it. Nothing much more to say about it. It's a fairly fun read... until chapter 150. I really feel that this needs to be mentioned, but I'll put it in a bubble since it's not related to the source material, just the material we, as english readers, can consume.

Spoiler

The problem is the translation. I don't know what the f* happened over the years or why there are so many translation groups for this, nor do I know why not even a single one of them manages to do the job right all the way. But let's just pretend there are only the three translations displayed on novelupdates, demonic translations, divine dao library and fantasy world online. I don't know much about demonic translations, because they didn't translate that many chapters so I wouldn't read their translations.

What I read after comparing chapter 1 of divine dao library (DDL from now on) and fantasy world online (FWO from now on), was FWO's translation. It read pretty decently and was fun and energetic enough, while not being that great in grammar all the time, it wasn't bad enough to be an eyesore either. It was translated good enough to be worthy of being called a translation without throwing sh*t at the original, names and translations were clearly relatively accurate. After chapter 150, however, that changed. The translator stopped and someone else there picked it up, suddenly the quality did a huge nose dive and after checking much later chapters, the old translator never returned. Suddenly, the dialogue felt weird, flowed badly, had worse grammar and completely lacked the "energy" and "liveliness" a novel like this should have. I still felt like giving it a shot because I like the novel, and for 50 or so chapters after 150 it read good enough, but after that it got way worse. The quality became very irregular, sometimes good enough to read but for most chapters it was horrible, as if the editor just up and spontaneously disappeared.

Very bad flow, huge grammar issues and clear mistranslations, titles started to often seem like machine translations as soon as the quality got horrible (which happened at chapter 200 that had the title "Husband abuses her for a while as she chase her husband's crematorium, I completely misunderstood him", which makes absolutely zero sense, haha. Makes you wonder if some girl chased a building with body incineration furnaces) and the chapter content's translation wasn't much better, some examples would be "Gu Changge personally explained what happened back then, and even dug up the bones to return the sister, no matter what happened in between, so that Gu Xian'er could not raise her hatred for him", "Gu Xian'er smiled sweetly, revealing a pair of shallow pear eddies", "if zhao tianxing's father had not interceded this zhao tianxing would have been beaten badly, and it would have been difficult for him to get off the ground for several months", "In any case, they came to escort, even if there was no credit, they still spent a lot of time and energy. But it was not to get a good look from the other side.", "You still have a chance to leave here while I am not angry right now", "This woman was beautiful to the extreme. such empty valleys and orchids, clear fog in the forest, very dusty, there was a quiet and moving beauty". So, I dropped the novel knowing it would just be a waste of time and energy to read more after 26 more chapters of horrible quality and fluctuating garbage quality which showed signs of getting even worse (checked 10 chapters ahead of that point and it was even crappier). They butcher the fun of reading it with such crappy english, too bad because a transmigrator female that also talks about chapters and clichés was just about to appear and it would've likely been very fun to read about.

Then I checked DDL's version at that chapter and after trying a few chapters, I once again confirmed just how utterly worthless their translations are and that it's a persistent issue all the way through. They systematically change almost every single ability and location name, sometimes even conjuring up nonsensical names with no basis (that might not even be english at all, chuunibyou much?), they also actively censor words or entire paragraphs, making the work very stale and lifeless. They practically parody the entire story by changing things actively, to the point where you question if they have any respect at all for the source work or author. Last time I checked, a translator needs to keep to the original meaning and story, just adapting some things slightly to mean exactly the same thing in english and make it easier to understand. But they change things to the extent that the story changes and it reads like crap. They have a, at first glance, good level of english, but the english they use doesn't fit a novel format at all as they often use rarely used or out of place english that would be more at home in education essays than a novel format, sadly the grammar and flow is nowhere close to being worthy of higher education either, it has tons of issues even if it looks decent at first glance. This fixation on "fancy" yet often inaccurate and out of place english instead makes it lifeless, flawed and dull to read, it barely even reads as a novel. It feels like they're tooting their own horns by trying to show off their english knowledge even though they're clearly not that good in the first place and the level of editing is not at the level of liberal but just not even correct anymore on any level. I really despise their translation, so sadly there wasn't any other options but to drop this otherwise pretty good novel so early, it really makes me sad.

Who the hell translates destiny points/value as "fatum", fortune points/value as "fortuity", black as "onyx", golden crow clan (which is a very typical race in this kind of story) to golden raven clan, daoist immortal palace to skyward schloss, transcendent bones as absolute detachment bones, leaving out various parts of names like "black heavenly eagle clan" becoming "black hawk family" or "ancient immortal gu clan" becoming "immortal gu family". Then we have wonderful sentences like instead of writing "Damn it! How dare you come to our territory and kill our people! You are courting death!", they write "curses! how insufferable of him to kill people in our territory!". They also changed "they roared with anger and hatred since even their own clansmen were here! The dead must be avenged" into several sentences of completely made up text, namely "they yelled vexedly as if they were growing insane. Some of them were even letting out deafening shrieks. Given how there were members of the victims' clans and factions around, the dead would definitely be avenged." See how incredibly awkward it reads? Not only do they conjure up fake content, it's also extremely cringeworthy to read. It flows choppily and the english used is ill-fit for the purpose. As translators they should respect the author and their work and they should also have the awareness that they suck at writing dialogue and descriptions, so how about sticking to the script? This isn't some theater improv. The worst part is that they do this several times a chapter at least, you see why they're probably one of the worst "translators" out there? Even the new translator at fwo after chapter 150 still translates things pretty accurately and doesn't change things randomly. Oh, I gotta mention this one as well, just to show how bad their translation can get. They translated "Once these two ancestors are under my control, the entire black heavenly eagle clan will effortlessly fall into my hands." as "Once I gain control of these two ancestors, the Black Hawk Family will all be mine. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.". It almost made me god damn cry how moronic that sounded, they changed his entire personality for a lame joke as he's not the kind of guy who would say crap like that, not to mention he didn't even say "easy" or anything close to it, they just made it up. Go write your own damn novel if you want to write whatever you feel like and make things up.

Also, not sure what the f* FWO is thinking, but their site is a hot mess, utter garbage from a design standpoint. I say this after having taken many game design and art design classes over several years with a player (user) -centric standpoint. It's a mess to use, it's as if they've done everything in their might to restrict and bother their readers, which is simply counterproductive. I had to get an addon just to be able to right click and have my mouse cursor change depending on where I hover it, but even then their text is locked behind idiotic code that makes it impossible to select it, not that I care much about selecting text, I just hate sites that disable right click and other options. They made any interaction with the site impossible without modifying the code or getting addons. Changing cosmetic things like color, font etc is also very difficult thanks to this. As if that wasn't enough, they cram in various floating buttons and when you scroll down, you get a huge banner of "next" "previous" and other sh*t options, but at the bottom and top of the page you find these options anyway. Also disruptive yellow boxes before the "next chapter button" in every chapter about donations and so on, which gets really annoying to repeatedly see. I had to use an adblocker to remove all the bothersome elements. One of the worst sites I've ever seen, but at least usable if you block the crappy elements.

I came here after reading the comic. And I love it.

I love me some villains... 😆

Even more so when they do act like villains instead of the "I incarnated in a villain and now need to turn into a good guy and fix things to survive". I'm tired of those already.

... more>> I've already came to terms that women in most male MC novels are there for fanservice and foil for the MC so that's that.

If anything to nitpick I'd prefer if it was QT with him going to multiple worlds with different settings as a villain to ahem~ frick over ahem~ different kinds of protagonists as the villain...

1 cuz I'd very much like to see him doing that in different settings and 2 cuz there's a limit of how many different plots a martial setting can have...

But yeah... I like this one... <<less

Highly Recommend

Amazing novel about transmigrator who gets a system to help him crush 'fated protagonists'. Similar to History's Strongest Big Brother, but I'd argue more focused around the central premise.

The MC is casually cruel, he enjoys playing with people and at one point casually destroyed a sect on a whim. I'd argue he truly is a villain, which makes it enjoyable to follow him as the MC.

That said, the so called 'fated protagonists' aren't exactly righteous people either. This novel does an excellent job of showing the other side of... more>> typical Xianxia Mass mu*dering Chad MCs, and just how evil they can be.

Only criticism of the novel so far is that the MC seems to be powering up too quickly. I am worried that the power creep might ruin the mid/late stages of the novel.

Huge props to the translator VILFIC. The translation quality is excellent, and the speed is lightning fast, almost 2 chapters a day. <<less

Novel starts out pretty fun.

MC starts out in a lower world, where he is supposed is visiting to train. A system gets activated, that rewards him for destroying so called protagonist, blessed people of the world. It's a fun setup, and it works. That is until he gets back to the Beyond, which is the upper world he is from.

There's no challenges for the MC. he pretty much has no goals we know of, he just does stuff and says everything is going according to plan. What is the plan?... more>> Who knows. He is also a major dipsh*t for no reason. he cares about nothing, and is ready to kill off everyone just because... who knows. His demon heart is supposed to be not influencing him, but yeah that looks like a lie.

First 100 chapters is a decent read, but I would just stop there if I were you. MC has no goals, no personality, nothing he cares about. The novel is essentially about nothing after he returns to the Beyond at around chapter 70, though right as he returns you do wanna see what happens.

If you just want to see a power fantasy about essentially nothing, then you can most likely enjoy this. It's the only thing it has going for it after chapter 70. <<less

Well this one certainly seems to have rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I am seeing a bunch of 1 star reviews as well as a few 5 stars.

This story is a bit outside of expectations. This is a story where the MC is the villain of your typical xianhuan story. This genre seems to be gaining steam lately as I am seeing a bunch of these "villain system" stories pop up. For those of you familiar with xianhuan novels where the MC is guided by a ghost... more>> teacher or has inherited a ridiculously powerful legacy, or some other broken plot armor: the MC of this story is supposed to be the villain of those stories. There are multiple antagonists and side characters with cheat abilities from various genres of xianhuan.

As for the story itself: not much actual fighting. The MC has a ridiculously overpowered system that gives him ridiculously overpowered abilities, like the ability to buy whatever heavenly treasure he wants and the ability to upgrade his cultivation level whenever he feels like. The MC himself doesn't really have any combat experience and the author resolves every fight within 5 moves. Usually less than 5 moves. If you're looking for an exciting, action-packed xianhuan from the villain's perspective look elsewhere (I would recommend History's Strongest Senior Brother, which starts out a little like this and then transforms into a proper xianhuan with a different perspective. It isn't exactly a satire like this one but it shares some similarities. And yes, I still stand by my review of that one up to the chapters that I have read (and I dropped it when the old translator stopped).).

So if you don't get good fights in this, why should you read it? Well because it is a fun reversal of the usual tropes. Some of the other reviewers have said that it is a satire but that isn't exactly true. It certainly mocks the usual tropes and destroys the MC stereotypes, but the MC of this story is even more broken then they are. The strength of this story is enjoying an OP MC navigating a xianhuan setting. The MC has the connections necessary to explore this story setting and manipulate events in his favor. Normal xianhuan involve an underdog MC bouncing from one plot point to the next, with the help of fortuitous information and well-connected allies. This story has a scheming MC using his personal skills and family connections to get access to the various heaven-defying treasured that the standard MCs are supposed to get. So read this expecting a proper, intelligent villain to succeed with his scheming.
But what exactly does that mean? It means that the villain will approach a situation while aware of who the antagonist is and what the tropes usually do, and carry out a plan to take advantage of that. The MC is careful to only fight people that he can beat, so his opponents are defeated within a few sentences. There is some action, this is a xianhuan after all, but it takes a back seat to the character interactions.

tldr; if you want an evil MC to succeed with a lot of scheming and a small amount of action in a xianhuan world, give this a shot. Expect a broken system to protect the MC but since battles aren't very important, it isn't as annoying as it would be otherwise. If you want proper fighting and cultivating, don't even bother with this.

edit as of 323:
This honestly gets better as it gets longer. There is slightly less of focus on system rewards and battles become a little more frequent. The big difference is that there are more plots and side stories going on. The evil becomes more noticeable though. At the end of the day, the MC is a villain who has to kill heroes. In the early chapters, the heroes were all unpleasant, each one a twisted version of an existing xianxhuan trope. At this point, we are running into heroes who are a little flawed but legitimately nice people. The current victim is a definitely a simp but hasn't really done anything bad. The MC feels no remorse and honestly seems to enjoy his wicked deeds, but at this point he really has no choice. He is the villain and if the rest of the world learned the truth, they would treat him appropriately. He has to keep ahead of these protagonists.
I have seen some reviews talking about the problems with the Stockholm Syndrome love interest.
Spoiler

Frankly, there is no good excuse for it. But in defense of the story, it is clear that she was half-brainwashed while growing up. She was hidden away in that temple all her life and raised to worship the reincarnating guy. The understanding was that when he appeared she would give everything to support him. Assisting him in battle and serving him in bed. When the MC stole her away, it was pretty awful and manipulative but honestly she is just fulfilling her "duty" with a different guy.

@sinner temple

you clearly don’t know what satire is. Explain what the author is satirizing. Because it is clear that this is just another chinese xianxia power fantasy. It has all the typical tropes and does nothing critical except repeat them with roles reversed for 100+ chapters.

if u like it that’s fine. But the “it’s satire” defense is ret*rded. People aren’t going to like what u like, stop trying to gaslight us into thinking it’s so deep

Starts out fun, some pretty enjoyable chapters while he is stealing the first girl. Has totally lost it at this point. No real plot, nothing interesting happens, everything instantly goes the MCs way, MC is just an annoying piece of sh*t for no reason. Drop it when he goes to the upper world if you haven't already gotten tired of it.

This was good at first but quickly turned unbearable like many others

Author is really infuriating with the female leads and antagonists, first the female leads... more>>

so he turns out to have mu*dered his future wife on the night of her wedding after using and abusing her then she comes back to the past with hatred and the will to revenge but oh how can she expose his secret that will literally destroy him, although he did every evil to her she still pitied him and didn't want the world to turn against him... well I said ok maybe she is a loyal one and the author is about to write a masterpiece about love and hatred and such, but as I read on I couldn't help but say (f*ck this fake Japanese shit) there is no depth at all to her and all the other female characters all of them are always attracted to the MC without a single reason and absolutely loyal no matter what he does or did, what infuriates me the most is that those female characters that always are absolutely loyal to the MC betray or even try to take down the Male protagonists that are their original lovers at the first possible chance like the first girl in the story it's just infuriating how the girls are either blindly in love with MC without reason or absolute biches that become blindly in love with the MC for no reason

[collapse]

Now with the antagonists or the side characters generally all of them are idiots that the MC toy with as he likes.. but I don't know what I hate the most them being idiots or the MC "speculating" everything as if he is reading the story with us and basing his speculation on no evidence at all and saying this is the only possibility so it's true while there are literally millions of other possibilities but of course he is too "intelligent" to see them then he looks at the other characters and says they they are too s*upid to think this deep, And I remember this one chapter that he was imprisoning a young master while his guardians could find them at any time but he was taking his sweet time playing with him while the author is telling us although he is doing that he wouldn't be caught unlike those main characters in novels because his plan is too perfect with no loopholes and because he is not braindead like them, but if you saw his so called plan there is so many things that could go wrong that they are uncountable and...I don't really want to continue on this topic because there are too many things to be said here and I absolutely hate this type of "intelligent" MC with "amazing" plots that no one can see through and everything is always calculated so I'll stop here because it's frustrating <<less

just like you reading one-punch man, we have an op from the start MC who always has everything under his controll. MC is a cold-hearted scheming b*stard who do all kind of evil deeds.

The bad things about this novel:

- Freaking thick plot armor, not the kind of funny kinda dumb plot armor like opm but the kind of meh super s*upid bs plot armor. Most of the thing in this world seem ilogical to me.

- Side characters and harem are not very smart tbh (well plot armor duh) so you... more>> dont get the thrill of wanting to know what will happen next

It has some good points about face slapping or bullying (but the bullying and the evil doing part of MC are kinda extreme so even I who usually like evil cruel MC alot cant feel the same way with this mc)

In short if you just read it without using your brain too much them it is kinda ok but if you are a sensitive person I advise you shouldnt read this. MC is pure evil is 1 thing but authur have to make everyone in the story seem s*upid, which make it suck : ( <<less

Well, all the comments here are right to dislike the plot of this story. But no one here realized that this novel is a SATIRE, a satire on the current xianxia novel market in China. Where everything is based on crappy xuanhuan with arrogant MC who got demonic art blah blah blah, Super powerful master in the ring, mirror and weapon and the FMC's who are dumb and fall in love with the MC, Because he's a Sigma Chad from the Chinese Communist Party. And the other satire is about... more>> the shoujo xianxia novels, with FMC's of feminist Karen character at one time and the next she is a puppy of the young master tian, xuan, Huang who likes poetry and tea, All this in a field of Sakura trees. This is just a satire on the novels that are successful these days and that win manhuas with a story deeper than a plate to put pizza on. <<less

Pretty good novel, has some typical CN flaws it's fun to see our MC roll over the 'children of heaven'. The MC is evil or not with a straight moral compass so he does his actions full well knowing he's a hypocrite so don't expect him to treat everyone the same. Also translation quality is very good keep it up Vil-tan (s*ave-tan) and keep blessing us with chapters

This novel is interesting at the start, but as you kept on reading it, it just starts to get worse and worse.

This novel has the problem where a character is introduced just for this purpose and then abandoned just after he/she is used up.

The MC is someone who is useless without the system. Everything he achieved and does comes from the system. He doesn't even try to raise his own cultivation or practice his own martial arts. All he does is rely on the system to find Favored Children and... more>> get rid of them and use system money to buy upgrades. His only personality is being cold and cool, or at least the author tried to make him so. The way he solve problems is boring as heck. All he does is use some over-powered item or ability or fking mind control his enemies.

The description for the appearance of the characters are horrendous and lazy. There's even this one instance where the author literally just copy and pasted the exact same description from the previous chapter. This novel does not feel like it's written care or passion at all, it felt like it's written for the sake of following a popular on-going trend.

The characters doesn't make sense at all, you'd think that the prodigious daughter from a famous family would be intelligent and interesting, but she instead became an innocent little girl who trust everyone that's good to her. And the girls all started falling in love with the MC just because he's being nice and cool.

There's also the fights, but they are so anti-climatic and similar to each other it can be summarized as "Ah, the MC used this and that and the opponent got crushed."

To shortly summarize this novel, it'll be "a generic brain dead power fantasy". I guess you can read it if you enjoy those types of novels. <<less

The start is a wonderfully entertaining satire on the tropes common to Chinese cultivation novels while remaining a fun read. Then the Upper Realm is reached and it loses it's steam much like most cultivation novels. Things that could've made interesting scenes are glazed over, others receive more attention than deserved, in novel pacing goes out the window, explanations are repeated too often, along with many other nitpicks.

I rate 2+1, the +1 due to the lack of tournaments.

This is one of the few chinese novels that I've come to love. The premise is the usual cultivation stuff, but with some very well executed twists.

And the story isn't very focused on the mc's cultivation, but rather the intricacies and schemes of his life. And let me tell you, with the crisp translation quality provided by the translator, it makes for an extremely good story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and makes you root deeply for the MC and just how the heck he will... more>> solve that problem.

All in all, a qualitative very decent read. Though I give 5 stars only because of the translation quality. But even if the translation was subpar, I'd give it a solid 4 stars. <<less

Everything was entertaining and interesting enough until chapter 279...

... when the r*pe happened.

To me, r*pe is a no go, or a deal breaker, call it what you want. Once a r*pe scene or notion of it happened during the story, to me the story is dead, no matter how good it was until now. Although the author doesn't go into details about the r*pe, it is mentioned: "The successive generations of holy maidens of the Hall of the Human Ancestors must all remain pure". That's how the author glosses over the r*pe event.

The point is that it happened and I cannot stand such thing. Regardless who it happens to, heroine, villain, even if it is to the most shitty annoying character that would deserve to be punished, I can't stand it. Even if this is a fictional work, I still can't stand it.

Even if the r*pe event is mentioned as something that happened in the past, outside the story, and used as a trauma device or anything else, it's an out as well.

The only time I can accept r*pe scenes or notion of r*pe is when the character is about to be r*ped and is saved before the line is crossed. The line I am talking about is when the penetration happens. If the saviour is one moment too late, the story is beyond saving to me.

[collapse]

Well, that's all I had to say. It's disappointing that such event happened as I found the story to be quite enjoyable with all the scheming and slapping the arrogant characters. But alas, I cannot continue this, so I will have to drop it. <<less

Well, basically MC hunts down the lucky protagonists, who are always idiots with negative IQ and can only think of women, so planning against them is the easiest thing in the world, no challenge, all fights also usually end in three attacks with the MC always winning, there is nothing interesting also in the story, most of the writing is just the MC trying to somehow improve his image in the girls' heads and build his harem since he is seen as an "evil demon who always has an evil... more>> plan behind every action". <<less
