What do I say about this? Fan service of a different kind?

Obviously, this is not a series that focuses on the plot much.. The plot is pretty non-existent, with the MC going from one realm to another.

However for some great face slapping OP MC, this is the one!! Each realm makes an arc of itself, and quite a few characters from the past of the MC make an appearance. This is something that a lot of fans of this series love. It adds a feeling of mystery t it.

So far,... more>> there is NO romance in the series. The MC is... Idek. May be he is just not into women? Like not at all!! Or maybe, there is a past sweetheart who still has a deep place in his spot. For millions of year. Idek at this point.

The translation is top-notch!! It has managed to reach the Apex!! There is not much comedy as well. But tons of filler. Similar to DBZ.

This is not Mango approved, unless you absolutely have NOTHING at all to read.

And, if you want to make a thesis on the list of CN cliches, then look no further!! <<less

This novel just feels like a slice of life novel about a knowledgeable emperor who had been forgotten by all his subjects (aka the Nine Worlds) because of being idle for millions of years. So he decided to go out from his palace and walk around his empire and make them recall that they have an emperor while picking up new maids on the way. XD. Oh also lots of killing and arrogance

Disclaimer: This is not a review, it's a first impression. I consider reviewing something without the whole experience asinine.

"Reading Emperor's Domination is like watching someone stomping an ant and brag how the ant has not yet reached apex and tried to bite the said someone"

"Emperor's Domination is reading about a bunch of people having a pissing contest endlessly"

... more>> Pride vs Arrogance: pride is whatever the person holds as value for oneself while arrogance comes only from advantage. Once that advantage is gone, arrogance deflates and turns to nothing.

Li Qiye's personality is what you normally get from other chinese novels as antagonists. He has no pride only arrogance, because without his advantage against others what is he? He is nothing but some random person given something by someone that turned him into something else. That ultimately gave him the advantage against other normal cultivators thus turning him into nothing but an arrogant protagonist. He didn't reach apex by his own will or effort, no, he was given something by someone that led him to reach apex. Now read his audacity as he claims to be the number one under the heavens, repeatedly every chance he gets. While enemies keep coming to him like a very slow, progressive RPG grind. Side characters are just that, side characters for the sake of having side characters.

Translation is made with respect towards the original work. Their speed is also phenomenal. If you like stories that are action packed with humiliation at the sides with high horse protagonist fighting against his own kind, this story is for you and you will definitely have fun reading this. <<less

Emperor's Domination, while eminently imperfect in it's narrative and world building, is one of the purest, most poignant examples of wish fulfillment in the genre of contemporary Xuanhuan. The cultivation system is badly set up, imprecisely explained, and contains very little internal consistency towards the novel's beginning, but in all candor, the appeal of this novel lies not with its cultivation. Unlike many novel's that attempt to hide their intent behind flimsy, inorganic narratives, Emperor wears its this "shame" on its sleeve: the story only serves to aggrandize the main... more>> character, Li Qiye and allow the reader to enjoy his personality and exploits. It isn't heavy, or meaningful, nor does it intend to be and this unabashed pursuit of a single creative direction is what makes Emperor so great. In fact, one of the primary reasons why emperor works is it's main character, Li Qiye. Originally imprisoned by The Immortal Grotto - an organisation introduced within the first ten chapters that still remains mysterious - Li Qiye gained an immortal form at the age of 15. Using this body, dubbed the dark crow by posterity, his acumen, and (as corny as it sounds) sheer willpower, he worked his way to the pinnacle of the world without the power of cultivation, gathering supreme generals and training immortal emperors on his journey. In a way, the story's premise is comparable to that of Sovereign of the Three realms because Li Qiye, like Jiang Chen, possesses superior knowledge and experience to those around him, but lacks talent. However, while Jiang Chen remains calm and aloof (though never pretentious) regardless of the situation, Li Qiye displays both boundless arrogance and confidence. Whatever the circumstances, his actions are consistent with his character and the premise that a man who's experienced all the vicissitudes like has to offer is unbowed and arrogant at all times. In a world where might makes right, Li Qiye proves time and time again that he has the right to be arrogant. While many main characters collect numerous love interests - either intentionally or purposefully - on their adventures, Li Qiye's harem develops differently. He travels throughout a plethora of new and interesting locales, each one boasting a set of girls more genius and self satisfied than the last, and cows those heaven's proud daughters who oppose him or fail to recognize his superiority, turning them into maids and drivers, while never forgetting to remind them of his apathy towards their talents and appearances. He is not a character that is romantically dense in the style of japanese light novels. Rather, his problem is the exact opposite: Li Qiye is so experienced in romantic endeavors that next to no one can move his heart. The contrast cast between Li Qiye's actions and those of protagonists from inferior novels is clear. While other main characters may act arrogant to those who've wronged them and show unconditional mercy to the people who they hold dear, Li Qiye repairs any and all resistance he encounters with sclerot*c arrogance and, if necessary, unconditional annihilation. He may be hypocritical at times, but is never ambivalent. He is always right, because he is always strong. He is all of the most hated tropes in modern Wuxia - the arrogance, the hypocrisy, and the "inexplicable" romantic success that protagonists exhibit - turned to 11, and it's glorious.

While Li Qiye's character and the superlative power fantasy that Emperor's Domination offers is present in the first hundred chapters of the novel, it is hampered by the author's clear lack of intent in world building, particularly in regards to the novel's cultivation system. While this system is unique, it is incredibly hard to understand at this point in the novel, and the author's lack of detail and clear explanation only serves to exacerbate this issue. Fortunately, when this issue resolves itself and the makeup of this system becomes clearer, it only serves to enhance the novel. In fact, cultivation in Emperor's Domination is similar to what is found in many of contemporary author Er Gen's works; each new stage that the protagonist advances to provides new challenges. Cultivation isn't a static effort that happens without the reader's knowledge. When Li Qiye advances to a new realm, the new challenges and chances to excel that the realm brings are just as, if not more important than the increase in ability that it represents. Unfortunately, as of the latest arc, the author's verbosity has only continued to worsen. While this problem is virtually inescapable, the dilution of any good story is a lugubrious sight to behold.

In summation, Emperor's Domination is a fun novel. It doesn't attempt to be an exceptional novel, but its lack of pretension and steadfast tonal consistency are what make it great. If the story's stellar concept was not degraded by the execution, I would consider this novel a perfect 5, a story that had managed to fulfill its purpose without any outstanding error. Unfortunately, a story as unique and enjoyable as Emperor is not the story that it should be as a result of the author's lackluster prose and world building. <<less

For the first time ever, I truly like an arrogant MC.

The MC is arrogant, without doubt that in the earlier chapters you would really find him annoying but weirdly enough the more I read the novel the more I like his arrogant attitude. He got the experience, ability and knowledge to back it up.

Its like watching a a level 1000 game player who knows every nook and cranny of the game start to play the game at level 1 again. He knows basically everything.

Although I think, this is more like... more>> how a wise calculating shrewd old man (MC) who live for many years and seen and do many things dealing with spoon fed rich egoistic children who still didn't get it thorough their head that they cannot pissed him off and cannot touch his things even after so many warning. Personally speaking, I love his mysterious past and calculating ability, every move, even a dumb one is actually a strategy. A lot of mysteries regarding his past is slowly revealed along the way.

Haha, you gotta bask in the greatness of LI QIYE! <<less

Emperors Domination is a novel dealing with an overpowered main character's return to power. It deals with a lot of characters, many of whom underestimate the main character and eventually pay for it, but is still written in a way such that you enjoy Li Qiye's journey. While a lot of the time the story can feel repetitive, the main reason for reading this novel should not be for the environment and the context of a scene, but simply for reading the scenes itself and enjoying the greatness that is... more>> Li Qiye. The starting point is very bewildered followed by a huge and absurd time skip. Rest of the novel is aptly described by the name of novel " The Emperor's Domination".

The whole novel till chapters translated is basically the MC showing off how bad-ass he is with choir elements first ridiculing him next sing praises of XYZ technique, how it is broken and enemy is defeated and genius hero wins. Same rinse repeat.

Hope for something exciting further on.

This is the Chinese novel where Mt. Tai personally has become the MC. The events where the various antagonists failed to see the MC are the highlights of this novel; I never get bored with them.

2 points docked from the evaluation mainly because of the extremely complicated power system, cultivation methods, treasures' levels et. Al. And he have not really get started with alchemy too.

Even after 200 chapters or so, I still do not understand them. Oh well, looking at the various antagonists blindly diving head-first onto Mt. Tai can... more>> never get old.

Edit after c859:-

Other reviewers has mentioned about this novel being repetitive and how it reflects badly on this novel. For me, this novel should instead be used as an example of how to repeat the same plot effectively. If you see this novel as comedy, looking at arrogant young masters poking the beehive and then suffering the consequences is barely no different at all than watching American Funniest Home Videos clips on YouTube. It never gets boring to me. About the fillers, now that's a real problem especially in this current arc in Stone Medicine World. It must be this arc where the Absolute Choice's author learns how to game the Qidian reward system. Speed reading through paragraphs is essential for your sanity.

Another complaint refers to how the MC not fighting personally anymore and relies on other people and treasures to win instead. IMO I don't think that's a bad thing and I view this as a normal plot progression process.

I have fully given up trying to understand the cultivation system though after 800 chapters. <<less

My 3 stars were for the story idea itself. I didn't give it a 5 because every chapter I've read so far (or most of it anyways) is 30% story and 70% explanation (empty and repeated explanation)

I like the MC's arrogance in this one. I know we usually complain about the MC being too arrogant, but this meshes with me. Mainly because his arrogance is natural considering who he is and what he had been through/done. I like his handling of elders and others to get what he wants. This reminds me somewhat of Zhanxian. The MCs are knowledgable and slowly gather followers due to people seeing in them, an expert beyond his cultivation. Naturally this will lead to big changes in the sect and world.

Its... more>> a very interesting perspective and I want to see it develop more before updating. <<less

I'll start by saying cultivation and fights are not the main focus of this story, or to put it simply adventure matters more than the action. The main strength of this novel is in it's world building and unique events/mysteries.
Spoiler

The story starts at a point where Li quye has prepared around a million years in the shadows (not an exaggeration) for the main mission and is now just doing side quests (like rebuilding our fallen sect) along the way. 99.9% of any important historical figure/sects in that million years has either been taught by him or is scared shitless of him. Suffice to say, in the present timeline anyone who doesn't know of the MC doesn't hold enough power to be a threat and anyone who does know of his existence would never dare to go against him.

This brings me to my biggest frustration with this story, the author wasting opportunities at building tension just to have the MC be the center of attention. Reading this novel often felt like over leveling before a boss fight, Li quye would come across the main villain midway through the arc, where they might give him a good challenge. But instead he will avoid the fight, go collect his many broken items and level 90+ friends and come back to perform a once sided massacre. Pretty smart in a real life situation but for a fictional story takes away the suspense if MC behaves like that every arc.
An example of a missed opportunity that really bugged me was when *spoiler* it's been hinted at from pretty early on the sect has 2 hidden masters so 1000 chapters in when the MC has been away from the sect for 200 chapters, you'd think it's the perfect set-up for enemies he made earlier to attack the sect and for the 2 hidden masters (and the many Ally sects he prepared on screen specifically for this situation) to finally reveal themselves. But instead the author waits till Li quye comes back to the sect before the enemy invasion, at which point the hidden reveals have no impact cus we know the MC is strong enough to solve everything on his own.
I've mentioned a lot of frustrations with the novel but it's only because it done all the hard part but missed the bigger picture by putting too much emphasis on the OP MC. The world building is developed just enough that the story manages to remain interesting without the need to add pages and pages of description (like reverend insanity or Tolkiens works) and the features of the world were some really good use of imagination, just a shame you can only enjoy it in short bursts.

It is an amazing novel the writing, the characters and the MC (I absolutely want to follow him) I understand it can be annoying at the beginning but the more you read the more you understand him and come back thinking they deserved worse, I love him. And if you think he goes around provoking people unreasonably remember he does everything for a reason and he has encountered such people thousands if not millions of times and has been a teacher through most of it, he knows them inside out.

I love this story as a whole.

I just wish these authors that just want to keep writing with thousands upon thousands of chapters would figure out they can stop, take a breath, AND RELEASE THEIR STORY IN A MULTI BOOK SERIES INSTEAD OF GOING ON AND ON FOR TEN THOUSAND CHAPTERS IN A SINGLE GO. I can go into full analysis and breakdown mode as to why this author and many other webnovel authors need to start doing this, but this forum is not where that goes. Peace.

This is one of those novels where it seems sh*t at the start but is actually better. In fact, this is my favorite novel, all the other novels I stopped reading cause I got bored or the author sh*t on it. The MC is a f*cking savage, he kills people in a satisfyingly way.

Even though there are moments where you wish you could just skipped the s*upid dialogue, the moments where you feel good are far more and much more satisfying.

Give it a read, definitely try it, the absolute apex

Review: 11 July 2023

This is not a story for those looking for a casual or light read (just as many reviews have said).

Everyone says this story is full of never ending filler and that's true... in some ways. This story is a mystery case that had it's hints and clues spread across almost (and most likely over) 6000 chapters. You will only enjoy the massively expansive world of this story and understand the motives and goals of the MC if you pick out the clues then stitch them together... more>> while reading all the chapters. Sometimes it's written in really cryptic way but I greatly enjoy the process of trying to decipher what the MC is saying or what history it's revealing.

The story can be separated into 3 timelines.

1. The mysterious past of the MC, we get snippets of it in 0-2500 chapters through his journey through the worlds, meeting or visiting his old acquaintance, face slapping until their ancestors recognise who he is XD. It's pretty much flushed out around 3000 chapters. We then understand he's not arrogant, he's simply that overpowered. (Great for me since I never need to worry will he make it or not in a tough situation lol it's fun laughing at the unknowing side characters who antagonised him)

2. The present but also the past of that present. MC leaves the current worlds and ascend to another but he also do at some point go back (around 3000 chapters) and end up journeying through the now unfamiliar yet familiar world. We revisit or reencounter previous characters that we met 1000+ chapters ago with the MC and that sometimes really bring out the loneliness he had to endure throughout his billions of years of living. Before we only read about it but now we are also going through it as well as we try to guess then recognise who this person was, we either finds out they have already died or they are still waiting for the MC. It's truly an experience unique to this story.

3. The extremely distant ancient past which very very very little is known until late 3000 chapters. This is when we get much more in depth lore and get to understand what the MC is trying to do and why. We get a pretty good idea of all of it by 5800 chapters. But there are a few important bits still missing.

What made me want to write another review is the 5900 chapters point hitting a massive milestone of Li QiYe's journey.
Spoiler

he have finally, really finally accomplished one of his major goal, a promise he made billions of years (3000+ chapters) ago: getting rid of all and every evil overlord (idk the english term). His epoch is finally, fully, absolutely under his control and he can now go fight the final battle. He can at last put down the burden of caring and protecting his world (not that he will admit as he think he's just clearing his own path). This whole arc have answered a lot of the questions from before and tied up many loose ends. Just the final battle... But... ofc author had to drag the story on by going back to 3 immortals realm lmaooooo

I just want to recommend this novel again with me now having re read this multiple times and have a better understanding of the nature of this novel.

Highly recommended.

Review: Dec 18, 2019

Yes, its ridiculously long but its gooooood, especially if you're looking for a very OP MC. First thing, english just really doesn't work well for this novel cause it just couldnt replicate the tone and words in chinese so read it in chinese if you can. (for me that is, still really appreciate the translators for working on it!!!!)

The author had continuously warned (something the MC always says) the readers that this novel will keep continuing on (he will never stop his journey), so, therefore, be prepared that it is going to be so damn long.

He's really overpowered, but that's his real abilities. No luck, no fateful encounter or anything s*upidly random like that involved for him to become this overpowered. His powers were what he achieved through blood, sweat and tears.

There are so much world-building, so many secrets, it just continues to evolve. MC's backstory plays a huge role in the story and it brings me joy when ppl who have heard of his legends (aka killings XD) remembers him and become so scared of him.

One thing im kinda sad about is that its so hard for anyone to stay by his side. Even tho yes, he had said that he will only continue on but its still so sad. <<less

Okay, first I want to say that those people who downvote this story because they get bored of the MC winning all the time are kinda silly. It's like they didn't read the title. It's called "Emperor's Domination". Not "Emperor's Ups and Downs". Not "The Emperor Struggles to get to the Top".

I enjoy the story because it's exactly what it advertises itself as. The author has made a promise and kept it. He didn't suddenly change halfway through to a school slice of life, or something fluffy like that.

The author... more>> has been good at setting up the world and introducing people along the way, and giving decent, short, background so we know who the character is, and why they are important to the particular part of the story. The cultivation system is a bit different from others, but it's explained pretty good as the story goes on.

As far as relationships and romance goes, it's pretty subdued and not the focus of the story. Some other reviewers seem upset that he's not jumping every woman that is described as hot. Which I think is silly and not in character. The MC is millions of years old. He's had more than a few friends and loved ones die, and he keeps going. So he's not going to give his affection to just anyone, cause that will lead to yet more goodbyes as they die before him, not able to last the long years. Not to mention that he's got a goal that he's not going to stop for anything or anyone. So romance isn't going to be a huge part of the story. <<less

What I like :

-Consistent power level and politics

No weird sh*t weak af MC suddenly fight stronger and stronger enemies. MC has been constant. Morally grey, do what he likes because he is strong. Sometimes back out when it is unfavorable.

... more>> -OP MC

Standard OP MC roflstomping, gets harem etc. Mostly seen in cn novels.

-World building

As far as world building goes, its quite nice and consistent. Usually explain details that you can work on with some imagination. Lots of the side characters could be other MC in other novels.

Weird sh*t I am uncomfortable :

Random commenters on the skills each fight

Recurring characters with no plot relevance

Tldr : it is a nice novel to read once in a while. Just dont binge it in one go. I consider it as a lot of novels converging into a mega series, like MCU. With li qiye as living god walking around. <<less

This one is very unique. MC is basically god, undefeatable, knows everything about everything and has no flaws. Everytime he fights you know the result before the fight even starts.

Good thing about this Novel is the World building and the writing Style, the Author has to come up with some pretty interesting stuff cause the reader knows the MC is invincible.

One of the most enjoyable cultivation novel I've ever read. The plot indeed repetitive, like bastard Young Master come>MC humillate them>Young Master's angry and try to kill MC>Being killed instead>his Ancestor/clan come to avenge MC> and so on. If you can't handle that repetitive plot.... just forget this novel.

Emperor Domination has its own charm, especially the MC, Li Qiye, someone who once immortal cuz he's trapped on Dark Crow body for millions of millions year. You must read it to understand what I meant. MC is probably the most arrogant... more>> MC, but he has qualification to do so, he never back off after offend someone and will kill whoever block his path, not like other cliche novel where after the MC kill person and their monstrous relative/ancestor try to avenge him, the author will use every illogical plot armor to kill that relative/ancestor.

Talking about immortality, that's my favorite topic in this novel.
Spoiler

Where other novel, or other people try to reach the immortality no matter how much price it is... the MC repeatly says immortality is a curse (remember he's once immortal), even MC say that a DEATH is a relief for him. In this novel, you will find what's the price of immortality, watching your good friends and lovers leaving you one by one in the old age, but you still alive and life must go on! even though it's very painful and suffering, you must walk 'till reach the end. Definitely amazing...
