The Virtuous Omega Disguised as the Vicious Colonel

Colonel K is a legend of the Omar Empire. He single-handedly destroyed the Star Pirates Warship, with mercilessness and cruelty, and everybody trembled at the mention of him. Lan Yu, dignified and elegant, the model of thousands of Omegas, mistakenly became the black-hearted Colonel K.

In order to keep the persona from falling apart, from then on he punches the intergalactic beasts and kicks the bandits’ out of their nests, tore a mecha to pieces with his bare hands, and the corners of his lips picked up in a cold smile. As an Omega who is thinking about getting a husband and having a child, Lan Yu feels like he’s suffocating.

But the good thing is that he was once a movie star, with his amazing acting skills, no one noticed any difference between him and Colonel K, whose name was used to stop children from crying.

Except for his nasty rival, Lu RanKong.

Lu RanKong could always find the “Interstellar Butcher” Colonel K’s unnoticeable changes.

With the corpses of Star Pirates under his feet, the ion gun leaning on his shoulder, his hand on his hand-knitted woolen holster. With the wind still in his face, a corner of his uniform’s shirt lifted, showing an embroidered yellow flower. With skin scuffed fingers, a grim, bloodthirsty smile, his eyes filled with tears.

At night, he would only fall asleep if he was holding a teddy bear? He drank the nutritional supplements with no expression, but the bottle was labeled with ‘orange’ and ‘mango’ flavors.

Lu RanKong slightly narrowed his eyes. Why did this black-hearted K become more and more like a ♥ K?

Yet he found the other man f*cking attractive!

This started out great and peaked during the Prison Arc, after that the story became a bit bland and nonlonger as compelling.

The relationship between the mains was sweet and funny, then they actually got together and the humor from their interactions drop dramatically. It became just generic sweet fluff. Their personalities also become tamer or more bong from then on.

As for characters, the MC has all the skills of the "original" K and somehow that means he's strategic or knows military knowledge? Most mind-boggling of all is his ease in... more>> adapting to a Sci-Fi world. We don't have any indications of his stuggles to adapt to the technology or whatever, just some gaps in his knowledge. Skills are brought up and forgotten, his actual hobby gets dropped halfway through the story.

The ML gets a lot of spotlight and he was pretty interesting at the start when they were still rivals, after that he becomes a love-sick puppy. Not bad, but he lost his interesting personality. We get some background on him, but not enough that we get in-depth about his past. His most important past is all in relation to the MC.

As for the world building, it's one missed opportunity after another. Each planet we only get the bare minimum, some are described vaguely even when we spend long chapters in it. Interstellar beasts are only for getting some action scenes, mere plot devices. Don't even get me started on the naming.

Spoiler

Somehow all but one human has a chinese name. The big enemy is named Evelyn?? And never forget the sacred Miguel Temple??? After reading Miguel Temple, my mind just yeeted out of the story.

[collapse]

It's a story that focused on plot first, relationship second, and nothing else. <<less

It's a nice novel but nothing special. This is by no means perfect, there's a lot of flaws but it's not as bad as others was saying. Lol.

What's good about this novel is that there's no dog blood drama, no r*pe, no abusive behaviors from both side. There's enough amount of fluff and action scenes. The main couple fell in love slowly and they respected each others feelings and opinions. They communicate really well and there's also some fun moments together.

The down side is that, there's some questions about the... more>> MC's past that was not explained fully. It was left hanging until the end. Also the "climax" where the "soul/spirit" or whatever that was moving from one body to another is a bit overwhelming for me. I get a little dizzy. ಠ_ಠ
Overall, this might be a hit or miss for some readers, but who knows? Try and see for yourself. Enjoy! <<less

Everything is good so far except that MC is fcking annoying and fussy. He don't like this and he don't like that, he doesn't like anything and subconsciously think he was still a movie emperor so he could live comfortably and being picky even in a prison. Like w*f?

Spoiler

He always so sissy and squirming like a delicate little flower, I understand that he is an omega and feel uncomfortable with an alpha around. But HEY you just say you are fcking good at acting, like a godly acting god. And now he always so emotional here and there, especially with the ML.

Not need to mention he is not strong at all. It was the previous soul that invade MC body that strong, not him. When he faced with danger if he's not petrified then his mind would go blank.

I was like seriously? And every times he would solved it by his muscle memory. Except the first few chapters that introduced reader that he at least have some skill to muddle through after that it was full of his emotional part and how fussy he is, or how he fight with his temporarily online IQ and the so called muscle memory.

[collapse]

There are nothing in line with "Calm" and "Collected" omega I imagined at all. I have a lot of thing to nag on since reality and what I expected from the description is too far apart. Thus for me in the first half MC is a no no. Before I adapt in the latter half.

Spoiler
  • Another annoying thing is he was selfish. Altho I am good with it, but why he have to pretend like he is not when he can give up on thousand of lives just because his room is DiRtY. W*F bro why so pretentious.
  • I am totally ok with his psychology problem of being obsessed with cleanliness. But he was like OH I'm softhearted and have moral but if its go against my OCD then fck y'all lives.
  • He is a fcking irresponsible leader. He have no real skill yet he still insists on failed facade to barely muddle through every missions.
  • He didn't research information to feed his blank useless brain but rely on other the whole time. The plot is good but timing and everything is so messy.
  • MC is attached to his past self. Which there's nothing wrong with it. But his attachment is mostly emotion that makes him want to lie down and take thing for granted. Not strives to survived this new world or anything. Like I said just muddle through things and if its passed then be it. If its failed, then fck it.
[collapse]

Maybe because after I read the misleading description I expect him to be a powerful Omega or at least the dependent one who would not being fussy without looking at the occasions. So his character is quite unexpected and annoying when I saw that he seems to be dimwit protagonist.

I've come this far and I only have problems with MC so I will just continue till the end. It could be a good story to pass your time. Just dontexpect anything from MC. His IQ is sometimes online and sometimes not. Put up with this annoying MC and everything will be good. OR if you don't have any expectations for him that would be even better, and MC would look cuter in your eyes.

And another thing, I think MC have an idea of retirement as soon as he arrived tho. But he is an official and colonel at that. It was not like he want to retire and he could do so immediately right? It was not his fault and I think I need to defend him for a bit on this point. BUT

Spoiler

he do have blank brain tho. And he not even trying to search on information about his new world. Not even trying to search on information about his mission or anything before went out to muddle through thing and risk solider lives out there

The summary is very misleading but the basic premise of this story is an omega actor who transmigrates into an interstellar time period in the body of Colonel K. He's afraid, has to act and lead a battalion, and take on assignments constantly risking his life. And oftentimes, he's assigned with Colonel Lu so it gets pretty fun.
The author focused on interstellar military and crime which was really fun to intersperse with romance-heavy interactions between Colonel K and Colonel Lu. There is a lot of funny banter and they're... more>> always trying to get the last word in. It feels quite realistic when we know K's actions and words are coverups for his tsundere nature. The author cleverly inserts jokes about acting stereotypes such as "I've acted this scene before, oh I've seen this type of movie". K would categorize a situation and analyze it from an actor's perspective. It's pretty fun! Although, it is not without its intense moments. The prison arc is the apex of intense buildups in multiple ways from its plot, characterization, to the romance.
However, translation is shoddy during some action scenes, notably the last couple chapters, and affects how I pictured certain dynamic movements. Otherwise, stay for the slow burn and unpredictable missions! <<less

It could have been nice, there qui a bit of plot (mysterious invaders that are body snatchers) but...

as mentioned n there's quite a bunch of suspensions of disbelief nonsense (what the MC background (an actor who believes is an omega because of his lastest role... but it sticks ??!) what he knows or not after transmigration (convenience and absurdities) his military incompetence, the environment (no sound isolation in he bedrooms), the prisoners's profile, and ghe happy go lucky prisoners/jail, etc)

what's even worse is the personality he... more>> develops, from a super self sufficient strong as an alpha fighter, to a sassy cry baby female archetype who loves nothing more than knitting and cleanliness (who whould knit a gun handle to use at minus 80°c ?? tiresome) - how disappointing can it get?

the pace is pretty off, the action part is good, but the romance is lengthy and all over the place - if I think of old classic movies where chemistry and romance pop in the middle of a variety of dangerous troubles, little is needed and it works fine

here you have lengthy episodes of food peeling and other unintended scenes, on top of that, these are sadly diminishing the qualities of the MC who needs eternal pampering and care, and only show up his ressources once every blue moon - it's a total waste

I'm very curious about the plot (alien invasion anyone ?) but I'm not sure I can endure more... even as a mean to sleep (i tried, and got bored before getting sleepy) <<less

Aside from the prolonged and tedious fight on the ship with the green people, the story was quite engaging.

However I found the ML was quite talkative and kinda childish. He could turn a serious moment into comedy, MC was actually very patient in handling him.

Spoiler

the ML went through labor like it's a tag-team event instead of the MC (for him) - I thought that was hilarious. The extras are all special and amazing, it truly makes their relationship shine!

[collapse]

The dynamic between the CP are so good, chefs kiss. There's some part near the end where I think feels a bit filler-ish, and maybe there are moments where I think to myself; 'Even though I enjoy them alot, I feel like I don't have a grasp on their characters as their own person at all. If someone were asked me to write an excerpt on them individually, I probably wouldn't know what to say' -- there's some weakness there maybe in terms of motives and some foundation, but if you're just looking to enjoy a sweet romance without spiralling into analyzing the characters, I think you'd enjoy it!

This is much more action packed than I'd expect as well, every few chapters is an arc. Not to mention they are constantly sent on missions. This novel is probably one of the most efficiently used occupation-based plot (i.e. They really utilized the setting + occupation really well, like this really isn't just 'oh we're officials in name' kinda thing at all) -- love that for them. Soldiers sent to do work, the overarching plot progression (i.e. The K character and lotian's ulterior motives for coming to this galaxy) is constantly touched on.

Other than that, the romance is sweet from the get-go. My favourite arc is the prison arc; I love and adore pre-established relationship flirting and what they have going on. Anyways, give it a go!! You won't regret it!! <<less

Not bad! It was intriguing and gets you going in the beginning, but towards the middle it is more of a routine where you know the same thing is gonna happen again... Then towards the end, it's just left with finishing the novel and not much suspense. For me, it started going down or becoming meh after the Prison Arc.

Novel is not exactly mysterious, there are parts that are cliche and parts that are not. Several plot holes. The plot is similar to and reminded me a lot of... more>> The General's Vampire Omega, just that the MC and ML in this novel is more lovey dovey. <<less

Ahh good omegaverse, non abusive, non forceful, non dog blood pampering romance novel.

Of course it has weakness, but it doesn't take away the pleasure of the reading.

The romance is laced between the investigation of a series of cases the two colonels take, there's a balance between the romance and the mystery, there's no nsfw and the transmigration of the MC is explained.

MC is such a cutie, too bad he's transmigrated into a fearsome and fierce Alpha (who is actually an Omega) who don't have any friends. Moreover, his neighbor is the original's nemesis. ML is sceptical of MC, but he gave MC the benefit of doubt. Such a sweetheart, , their relationship after confirming their feelings is so sweet ❤ There's a reason why the original K disguise himself as an Alpha, and the mystery tie everything together.

So sweet and fun. The plot was very entertaining and I love the dynamic between the MC and ML. They are both such intriguing and hilarious characters, plus they have the best interactions! The other work of this authors was amazing and I loved it, so knowing that the setting in this one is similar is such a blessing. I'm all for complex plots. This has quickly become one of my top favorite danmei.

My favorite arc was definitely the prison arc... I had so much fun with that one. The... more>> author has an absolute knack for mystery and I enjoyed every second of MC and ML's adventures within the novel. I'd say that the plot is revolving around MC's self-discovery and him finding his real place in the world, alongside a suspenseful hunt for an invading group of extraterrestrials.

The novel definitely begins to mellow out during the latter half of the novel, following the confirmed relationship of the two main characters. Although I loved the exhilarating tension of the former half, it's still extremely gratifying to read about their love, especially after witnessing all the roadblocks.

Anyway, here is a short, spoiler-filled summary of the story!:

Spoiler

MC transmigrates into an interstellar world, as a powerful and ruthless colonel. He used to be an omega superstar who desired to retire and have a family. It turns out that his new body is an omega pretending to be an alpha and now has to protect the secret. He meets another colonel, the ML. The ML is actually the second prince. MC and ML embark on missions to find and kill an invading group from another planet, the Lontan people (I believe that's what they were called?).

Whilst the action occurs, the MC discovers that he is an original inhabitant of his new world. He was the ML's childhood friend that had presumably passed away. His body was taken by a Lontan person when he was a child. His transmigration was actually him taking back control of his original body.

I absolutely love love love this novel so much... I started this novel for the seemingly cute romance, but stayed for the crazily masterful thriller it turned out to be. This is guaranteed to become one of my top rereads. <<less

This review might be biased because this is my first proper ABO novel. But It was really good, it had a very intriguing plot, well brought up characters.

The MC was really cute and he was strong even as an Omega. As for the ML he was very awesome and had a very sensitive heart. When they knew they were in love, they did not drag it and confessed without much drama. I think that was good. There were a bit of a humor mixed in, so it was fun to... more>> read at the same time.

This is up there in my top ten favourite danmei novels and is definitely in my top three Omegaverse novels.

The characters are great, and the plot is intriguing. And this is a very plot-driven novel, with a side of mystery, comedy, and secondhand embarrassment. There are plenty of serious tones too. In fact, the plot is much more serious than the summary lets on. Sometimes it dips into a bit of a crime novel feel when they're undercover and on missions, and other times if focusses on their ordinary days.

As... more>> for the romance, this isn't quite a slowburn, but they don't fall for each other straight away either. It happens naturally, with ML falling first and hard after he and MC work together and build a solid trust between them. We actually get romance without any of forced marking, which can be hard to find in Omegaverse. And this novel really distinguishes itself with the lack of arranged marriages and a respectful ML. Though he was only respectful after they got to know each other since he and K never got along. Then their work romance starts and ML just wants to protect his Alpha (lol). When he finds out MC can't handle pain, he tries his best to help him avoid it and get through it. They banter and argue and it's just so fun to read.

I liked that he was still protective of MC even when he thought he was an Alpha and knew his capabilities. Same for when he found out MC was an Omega and, despite being against MC putting himself in the line of fire, still respected his decision and joined forces with him.

MC was also amazing. Although he was a male Omega with a more milder temperament and "maternal" outlook, he still stepped up, took responsibility and became a trustworthy partner, both in life and work, to ML. He's a kind, homely O pretending to be a cold, strict and volatile A, and ML listens and loves and is adorkable tbh. <<less

Good story with a layer of mystery. MC, Lan Yu, is a homemaker type omega forced to act opposite of his true nature. He wakes up as Colonel K but without any of Colonel K's memories. So he has to wing it to the best of his abilities as an actor.

Along comes ML, Lu RanKong, who didn't get along with Colonel K and considered a rival. However, of course circumstances throw them together time and time again. ML unknowingly falls for MC first.

The plot does have more depth than expected.... more>> The coupling is nontoxic and cute at times. The ending is a happy one.

Spoiler

The plots covers the fight of the Sasu Planet people (MC's and ML's race) against the the Lonton race. Lonton people can enter a person's body and take it over. It is scary since there is no test in existence to determine if a person's body has been overtaken by a Lonton. MC and ML work together to identify the Lontons who had infiltrated into their planet system.

SPOILER...

...

MC and ML knew each other as children. ML had thought that MC had died but MC's soul was actually pushed out of his body and overtaken by a Lonton. MC ended up in another dimension until he returned back to his original body. The Lonton had been "stuck" inside of MC's body and freed when MC returned. This is why the Lonton acted crazy when he had MC's body. He wanted to have the body die so he could be freed. The Lontons have a chip inside their bodies that won't allow their self harm and the harming of other Lontons.

The Hor race of the Lontons wanted to take over the Sasu Planet system because "A Lonton person will never age if they reside in the body of a Sasu planet person and then devour their mental body"... therefore they could theoretically live forever.

This novel was surprisingly good! After reading the reviews I didn't really have high expectations for the story but I actually enjoyed it.

The writing style is a bit annoying in the beginning with the unnecessary descriptions about appearance and a few illogical stuff about MC's amnesia like the other reviewers said, but as long as you can get past that the rest of the novel is worth it.

Characters are well developed and the plot is good. MC's "transmigration" is well explained as well as K's strange actions. I like how... more>> there's grey characters who are given a chance to prove themselves like the guys from the prison and also Luo Yang. I do wish we got to hear from the prison guy (the one who loved a prisoner named Xu).

The extras are so cute and I love how the kids are truly portrayed as kids, and not some miniature super genius adults. It's a lovely story so give it a chance! <<less

There's a negative review talking about how unserious this is, lacking in action and bla bla bla... I totally disagree

In fact I'm dropping this novel coz it's too serious. I'm seeing nothing of what the description promised. All I've read are missions and undercover and killing and all that. Where's the romance with the ML? Is the chemistry suddenly going to blare up in the last chapters? Just because they're spending time together now doing missions? In that case ML might as well just fall for everyone else he spends... more>> time with. Coz I'm seeing no chemistry between him and the MC. This novel should just be labeled military, cops, action, fiction and that's all. All the other tags don't apply in my opinion <<less

But... the MC and ML are indeed a cute pair I ship haha but will not be re-reading this but the concept was so cool though. Like the mysteries and missions were interesting. It was my favourite part of the plot.
