EDIT: there's a bunch of minor h*mophobia throughout the story that I struggled to tolerate, but then the author goes berserk on a rampage of screaming h*mophobia in chapter 260 and I had to abandon this complete piece of tr*sh. If you're a decent human being, this story cannot deserve more than 1 star, and even if you're a homophobic jerk the writing quality still can't ever qualify for more than 3 stars so the amount of 5's is both disturbing and confusing.

Original review: It's a decent story with a... more>> bunch of interesting characters and the plot is petty interesting too.

There are two huge flaws though:

1 - the author REALLY REALLY REALLY sucks extremely badly at figuring out how to keep the plot moving. 99% of the conflict in this story is due to extremely obvious misunderstandings because the author forces the main character to not even bother explaining anything to people even when it's extremely obvious.

Like, even when people are literally trying to kill the main character over a SIMPLE misunderstanding, she just stands there like an idiot and doesn't say anything. And it's not because she's shy or antisocial, she just acts very OOC/out of character randomly because the author is too s*upid to know how to advance the plot and needs to force in misunderstandings to make up for the author's incompetence.

2 - because the author is terrible at figuring out how to advance the plot properly, they introduce all kinds of pointless characters and plot points and builds up significance and even blatantly establishes that they will be important later on, but then can't follow through on them so they just disappear. It's very obvious that the author is just building up a whole bunch of leads to see what will work and then throws the rest away.

Basically, this is a really fun story and I can tell the author has a great imagination. But their writing quality is barely any better than a teenage fanfic writer. It's good if you can turn your brain off to ignore the glaring issues but it's absolutely not deserving of any of the 5 star reviews. <<less

There are quite a few issues with the novel, but the comedic nature helps shore up a few of the shortcomings turning it into a passable if sometimes dreary read.

The biggest issue lies in the author's lack of consistency. The world is treated as one where power levels are absolute but in actual effect they are always meaningless, a fact that deeply hurts story cohesion and makes it blatantly obvious that they're only included because it is expected and the author only really thinks of them as a hindrance to... more>> the plot rather than an element of their world. Similarly there are Arcs where the MC discovers all plants are conscious and is infuriated when a friendly plant is injured, yet an arc later indiscriminately kills all vegetation in a large area in passing just to display a power.

Beyond that the MC is probably one of the worst characters I've ever seen, short of the r*pey MCs other xianxias have, but this is somewhat hidden by the comedic nature of the story, how other characters react to the MC, etc... She is entirely self-centered and frequently emotionally or physically abusive to those below her, and extremely hypocritical but this is never brought up or acknowledged in any way - and in fact the story develops as if the opposite is true. She lets mu*derous rapists go free because they were kind towards her, or because no person has the right to judge another, or the people pursuing them probably did bad things too sometime or another - but this is just treated as her having a pure heart, and something others should strive towards.

Another incredibly annoying factor to the story is that opposing characters are incredibly cartoonishly evil, mostly in the author's attempt to ensure the MC always has the moral advantage in any situation. These are all things that have happened more than once: 1. The entire world collectively kills a person who just saved the world. 2. Women lose their lovers to other manipulative women and are then killed by their former lovers. 3. People are blamed for things that happened when they were 3< years old.

The author also seems to have extremely problematic views towards homosexuality and women in general, as almost all non-friendly women are "green tea b*tches" who scheme to kill other innocent women, "steal" men (often through mind control), etc... Similarly although there are no homos*xual characters and most of this happens in a jokey manner, the MC repeatedly panics that men related to her might "go gay" for another, looks down on people who crossdress, and spouts that a single man and woman pairing is "natural".

The author's idea of "romance" is also extremely flawed and typically involves incredibly jealous characters who would be regarded as yandere in any other media.

Lastly, the MC has zero sympathy for other characters or sense of introspection. This can best be seen in her brother / son character who she adopts and repeatedly abandons before blaming him for acting out, not behaving how she'd like. Ordinarily this could be an opportunity for character growth, but the author fails spectacularly treating each of these instances as a failing of the other character and giving the MC a lengthy speech on how the other character's issues are all his own fault and he should do better.

Overall the novel is a parody of xianxia and does rail out against a few of the tropes, but the author shortcomings as a writer lead to a character who is unintentionally almost as bad as the very sort of character the author is railing out against. <<less

Started of good, but after the ghost arc it became shit.

What annoyed me the most was that there wasn’t anyone better than MC from the females.

Literally all of the pretty, beautiful and powerful girls always had shitty personalities for some reason.

... more>> Every female characters other than MC are always evil, demons, devils, pitiful human beings, possessed, unimportant, never succeed in love, bullies, weak af, shown as s*upid and dead.

I know that she’s the MC and the mc’s always have to be the best and blablabla

But WTF

THIS IS SO ANNOYING

what turned me of the most was when she said that she comforted her friends after breakups and sh*t but then she’s like “Oh sh*t I dOnt KnOw HoW tO cOmfOrt THat LiTtle dwArF WeAk bit*h character aAH PUI. I mEan THe cHild Aah PUI. I mEan tHe sacrificial LaMB WeAk sTove little CucUmber AH Pui. I mEan mY disciple.”

also why the f*ck does she always does that “pui” thing?

its like an alpaca spitting at shit.

The master is also very f*cking weird. Why does he answer everything with moans? “Mnm... mnmnmn..”

That man should be in prison

Also MC is like emma chamberlain.

She seems different and quirky but shes actually a piece of shit.

the gags, jokes are all repetitive.

Its definitely one of the worst novels ive read. <<less

I can’t read anymore. It’s boring, overrated and our MC is the biggest goodie two shoes with a huge moral compass. Always sacrificing herself and trying to save everyone and believe this- she NEVER strays from the path of justice. Considering the fact she’s a modern woman, how about being a little more realistic in her character instead of turning her into a Mary Sue? The comedy is there, yes, but I got bored because there’s no end to those ‘bugs’. It just goes on and on and on... after... more>> the ML left, the plot just went down hill and became exhaustingly repetitive. <<less

I really love this novel... I had been putting this off for months and months for some reason, but I highly recommend that you pick this up! What is already translated so far is really easy to read. Also the translators did an AMAZING job. You can't tell at first glance, but after moving onto the raws, I realized that this was probably such a hard story to translate because the original has so many Chinese puns and contemporary slang... it could be that they just skipped things to make... more>> it easier, but still, you'd still have to decide which jokes to skip and which ones you can't skip.

So I actually really liked the concept of Hua Qian Gu (special disciple and special master relationship), but I basically hated literally everything about that story. I also couldn't finish it. My Disciple Died Yet Again has the few important things that I wanted from Hua Qian Gu, but like, minus everything I hated (the misunderstandings between the leads, s*upid female lead, green tea b*tches, disappointing character developments, dog blood melodrama, garbage relationship conflicts and cliches... basically EVERYTHING! Phew, I am SO sorry if you are a fan of HQG and you read this!!! please excuse me, I am just really bitter and petty).

Anyways, reading this in place of Hua Qian Gu was a complete win-win-win for me!

The only reason why I actually have not yet finished My Disciple Died Again before writing this review is because I am at a reincarnation story that is a little tough to get through...

Spoiler

I'm at the arc where she doesn't have a body and she's inhabiting the body of the super beautiful "pillar of the world" girl and she's like in the worst imaginable third wheel situation. This reincarnation arc is actually SO hard for me to read. I can't seem to confront how this damned "romance" between that one violent sect leader with the crazy acting skills and the "pillar" beauty is the Exact sort of cliched romance I normally love to read... and yet it looks SO s*upid AND EMBARRASSING when you put a normal character (the female lead) as a foil against the whole situation. *buries face in hands*

[collapse]

On that note, I adore the way this whole story is framed around various different "plots" and "cliches" that feel really familiar to the readers. Basically, this story is about a main female lead who transmigrates into a xianxia universe where she has the special role of cleaning up "bugs" in that universe. In each reincarnation, the main female lead has to swoop into the situation and try to prevent the "bugs" from wreaking complete havoc in the universe that she's currently occupying. She talks about most of the bugs in otome or novel terms such as "the male protagonist!" or "the supporting female lead!" and it's just really funny and refreshing for us readers who have a lot of experience with these cliches... For the most part, it seems like a fun outlet for the author to rehash all our favorite video game tropes, xianxia tropes, and novel tropes.

I truly appreciate all the innovative aspects of this story. The main female lead is a NORMAL, likeable girl.

Speaking of normal. PSA: 28 is not middle-aged. I certainly still consider 28 to be young... most people don't have real careers yet at 28. Honestly, I feel like even in most parts of Asia we wouldn't consider 28 to be old these days. I feel like I only see such a judgement in Asian novels!!!!!!! That is, the judgement that for a woman to be 20 and older she must be considered "a spinster." UMM? As a visual reminder, please take a look at many Korean dramas such as Healer and My Love from Another Star, etc., look at how young and good-looking 28 can be. At age 28 is when you have the normal amount of intelligence and maturity suitable for the type of battles and situations that the female lead is up against... "High school age" or whatever is considered "young" in these universes is the weirdly young age...

Spoiler

I have very little criticisms about the main male lead for all his good qualities and poor qualities, but if there was one moment when I deeply doubted that he was worthy of Zhu Yao was when they first met and he sighed and regretted that she wasn't younger.

[collapse]

Of course, age is basically completely irrelevant when we talk about how old the characters actually are, considering the hundreds and thousands of years that it takes to cultivate. The main male lead is like at least 16, 000 years old while by the chapter 300s, the main female lead has about a couple thousands of years under her belt as well. I'm just saying the note above about how 28 is not old in case some people are really wildly mistaken about how "old" Zhu Yao looks because PLEASE! My Park-Min Young is still a fresh and young and beautiful girl...

I might update this review but bottom line is I love this! Please read! <<less

This is an excellent novel, and well worth the read. It's, as stated, a parody - but done in a likeable and funny manner, while still managing to draw in the reader.

The Main Character is hilarious and likeable - a honest to goodness normal person punted into a fantasy world (then given cheats and abilities, which, while getting the job done, tend to backfire hilariously as well). There is also a plus in the fact that, unlike most xanxia heroines I've read about, the heroine (who is a transmigrated 21st... more>> century woman) is neither clueless nor shy about the matters of s*x and love (indeed she can be rather shameless), and thus avoids that bloody annoying trope of blushing, dense virg*n waiting to be ravaged by the wolfish Male Lead (you know what I'm talking about).

The Male Lead is a breath of fresh air as well - there as support for our MC, but not to the point where her saves her every damn time. In fact, the story neither revolves around him nor is the 'romance' with him the main point (it's there, but in, like, the fourth/fifth place of priority).

AND, there is actual character development going on here people! The characters deemed as important tend to be expanded and developed.

If none of this entices you, then at least read it for the comedy, I lost count of how many times I almost choked on my spit when I read something funny and laughed.

All in all, a very good read. <<less

The story is one of the best I've read. Though it took me a long time to start reading it because of its description.

The MC is a female from Earth that suddenly found herself in the body of a villager in a Xianxia world. Things happen and she enters a Sect becoming the disciple of the strongest in the cultivation world. However when she started adventuring she died, and found out that she reincarnates every time she dies. The MC is relatable and hilarious~~ She is a normal girl that... more>> finds killing wrong and criticizes the mindset of the usual Xianxia characters we find in other novels. The side characters all have personalities and are fleshed out. Some scenes make you laugh out loud and some cause you to shed tears. I truly enjoy reading this and I'm addicted to it. It deserves 5 stars. <<less

A very cute and hilarious series, probably a go-to for parodies and comedies. Best to read after you’ve tried a few wuxia series and gotten sick of the overbearing characters since knowing some cliches really helps identify exactly what MDDYA is mocking, while you’ll be nodding your head in agreement with the MC’s assessments of them.

The female lead’s personality is very spunky and relatable, and where most MCs level up through near-death experiences she does so through actually dying. While her master is a cute but powerful airhead. And the... more>> story involved her being s**ked into a game to clear it of bugs (wuxia protagonists) whose overwhelming advantages (cheats) could potentially destroy the world. Overall it’s hilarious, mixing one-liners with humorous scenarios for a well developed and unpredictable story with few weaknesses. Though I’m not sure how the other 300 chapters will play out, I’m very keen to find out. <<less

It's really good and funny but I stopped reading it due to the fact that I feel that the female lead is kinda a hypocrite. She is also pretty irresponsible for one of the characters. Who btw is my favorite character so her treatment of him is very nonchalant even though she says he is her son. It really broke my heart everytime she abandoned and forgot about him in favor of other characters. She is also not very understanding towards the character and it's just dissapointing to see. The... more>> plot is nice but the story gets kinda boring after a while although there are many plots twists. <<less

I love this novel, it's hilarious! The MC is sassy, strong, and everything you could want from an independent modern woman. The male lead is also pretty great and the numerous supporting characters are all very unique with their own stories and interesting quirks. The story is a bit more martial arts, adventure with supernatural powers than the typical romance you'll usually see. The plot does get confusing at times but the author does a good enough job to keep the reader invested. I recommend you at least give it... more>> a try, the first 10 chapters or so. <<less

Welp. I'm sold. This by far is one of the most funniest things I've read in quite some time.

Basic setting: Modern-day, 28 year-old computer programmer suddenly finds herself transported into another, but typical, xianxia world as a peasant. By sheer accident and shortly after arriving, she is discovered to have an incredibly rare cheat ability, which lands her the position of disciple to an extraordinary (in many sense of the word) and powerful master.

Why I like this (numbers aren't meant to convey any given order) :

(1) the MC retains... more>> her modern sensibilities, which sometimes causes her to react in a way that conflicts with the "common sense" of the world and lands her into VERY amusing situations that we, as modern readers, may wish other MCs from similar genres would react the same to.

I'm super glad to see that someone, who's lived the majority of her life (in both worlds) in the modern world, doesn't have SUCH an easy time conforming to others' way of thinking. I get irritated that authors sometimes use such conformity to show off how "clever" their MCs are, such as inflicting torture as a "light punishment" to show off power/status or having the first instinct be to KILL for some slight against them. I mean, it's hard enough to even convert one's eating habits (such as becoming a vegan), do you really think a person can so easily toss out the very values that created the entire foundation of who a person was before!?

Plus, the MC's values, abilities, and attitude are easily relatable, so the reader may continue a feeling of personal connection with her, even as she progresses through the plot.

(2) The humor is great. The MC is a modern person with modern "common sense" and she's stuck in a world that has a very different "common sense." Plus, the MC can be a bit thoughtless, crude, and petty. That and the fact that her master is tens of thousands of years old, with his own "common sense, " and has barely any interactions with others, much less someone like the MC, makes for great humor.

I read and love the transmigration/reincarnation/fish-out-of-water genre because I find great comedy in the clashing of worlds. I mean, why bother writing under such genres if you're not going to use it, right? Just have the MC be from THAT world if the story isn't going to do even that much. This series gives the exact kind of humor I look for under this genre.

Spoiler

Because of his age and isolation, the master is almost as out-of-touch with the world as the MC and the story plays on that to great effect. So some parts of the story is like a time-traveler from the past meeting a hero summoned from a different dimension XDD. Misunderstandings galore.

[collapse]

But that's not to say this series doesn't know how to be serious when it needs to be. In fact, the transition between the story's tones is very well done. The situation for comedy/tragedy/drama is presented clearly to the readers, so the reader shouldn't feel disoriented from any shifts in the story-line.

(3) The background and explanation of the world is relatively short and concise and is given when needed, so the reader may understand the world without the story's plot becoming lost for the sake of world-building.

(4) The side characters aren't a bunch of 2 dimensional support characters that only exist for the MC's benefit.

I really love the depth this author gives the characters. Even while they're integrated with the main cast, they all have their own goals/dreams/dilemmas separate from the MC's. They have distinct personalities, which corresponds well with their unique character backgrounds. Plus, their personalities and actions are consistent, so the reader is never left trying to rationalize why a person acted in a certain way.

Spoiler

By the way, I especially adore the spoiled little Wang. I'm not usually a fan of tsunderes because many tend to be extremely bratty with very little redeeming qualities to make up for the former. But this character has enough dere and other personality traits (such as nobility, bravery, diligence, respectfulness, and loyalty) to make up for any tsun characteristics. In fact, I'm actually rooting for him to succeed and find happiness.

[collapse]

So yeah, I'd tell anyone who hasn't decided to read this series yet to go ahead and pick it up, especially if any of my reasons listed above are appealing reasons to. <<less

WHERE THE f*ck IS THE SHOTACON TAG

[collapse]
I'm not gonna talk about its positives, others can do that better than me, so let me just rant instead.
Spoiler

Okay, unless you haven't read it yet and you're reading this spoiler (but don't worry, I do that too), you will get what I am talking about. Right from the bat, we are given this kid from the same village as MC, which, in all honesty, made me drop the series back when I just started reading this genre, Xian xia. Not that I have anything against MC liking/paired with the younger ones, in fact, I really like it, especially senpai-kouhai or Niisan-imouto, and you can even call lolicon.... but there's this thing I just realized throughout reading this novel: I hate reverse harem. Well, that can be okay, even if it was, and it was even on the tags, but that can be overshadowed if the harem boys are, like, made fun of, or made funny, considering how the main guy is already set. Sadly... on this one, it's not that way at all. All we have is an obsessive child (ren). Like, wtf, like WTF! Okay, maybe I am just overacting, so let's just let it be, the novel is fun and all even with that anyway. Not like we'd have another obsessive kid that turns into an obsessive adult later on right? Hahahaha... yeah, no. Apparently, the village boy, the one with so many emotional scenes that I don't really get because there was not a single chapter dedicated to show how he even came to like her, has grown up, so, I mean, like, he's gone. Look, the shota is gone. Author, look, he's gone. Hey, do your job, make another one. If someone actually said that, then please tell them f*ck you for me. So, walla!!! Here's another shota for you. The previous one was not irritatingly infatuated with MC enough, so let's make one that's even more irritable! I like to call this one, the shota from the... where was it again? Crystal? Let's just say egg cell, although that's prob wrong. Anyway, here's your shota. Enjoy!.... not. Sigh, so we have another one that is, well, obsessive of the MC. I mean, hey, how about letting us relate a bit why these kids like her? Well, yeah, sure, uhh, she's special because she was the first female you were close with and depended on, and apparently no other girl exists besides her in the sect/the first person you see after birth. Yeah, uhuh, both are creepy. Do girls like these? Hey, I can understand if they were girls instead and the MC was male, but in all honesty, this is by the way MY opinion, so my perspective matters, right? Not like there's no amazing female MC novels out there (kenkyo kenjitsu, all right!). Anyway, they're creepy, they're creepy, reading it makes me so uncomfortable, and it's really creepy. The eggcell shota, I don't know why, but every time I read him, I just have this imagery of him being malnourished and having big bulging eyes, that my precious guy on Lord of the Rings. Well, yeah, sure, some things are bad, but hey, the novel's still good, right?... let me just say, I liked not one bit of the novel after she went to the higher plane, and this started right about when the master transcends. Things feel unfamiliar, and I never really got the chance to be familiar with places other than the mountain. Then she goes to another place, and I just can't have a clue where the f she is. Pretty much thrown there, then,.... I don't even know what then. Of course tho, my main issue, the harem boys. We travel to another place and bam, guess what, we get a clone of that village boy, which is equally feeling close but we hate him, and of course, hey author! We need another shota, who is unusually super attached to MC! This one, I'd like to call the bird egg shota. Yeah, there's 4 in all, but things might turn out that there were just 2, but I don't have the patience.

[collapse]
So my problem is, the side characters. Maybe it's just me, but the side characters are not fleshed out enough and then they suddenly play out big roles, you can't help but be irritated ya know? But be that as it may, there some things that I liked about the novel. And these things were the one that made me hate the novel as well. Why?
Spoiler

They disappeared. Maybe I haven't read enough xian xia, but after the first antagonist, there's no more, or maybe not as much, counter xian xia plots. That OP Harem Protagonist guy, I liked the concept. But after that, the others are not as striking. One other thing that I really liked was that little radish, her disciple, but what the f*ck, after, like, 1000 yrs, she somehow finds her about to be r*ped right after escaping that world thingy? There's a limit to coincidences. I mean... 1000 yrs, but it just had to happen after she arrives? Woooaah, and I though that MC from against the gods miraculously arriving on time when that empress of the something country was about to lose to the army of that phoenix thingy empire. Oh, spoiler alert. Bit really. But anyway, after this, she talked to for a bit and.... she... no, there's no and. She leaves the little radish alone, she goes to blacksmithing, cuz apparently she's amazing. Hey, your disciple, I think she misses you a lot, hey! And then, she saves the world, and never gets to say goodbye to little radish. Ummm, wtf, what happens to her, what was all that blood bending sh*t if she's not fleshed out, holy shit, I really thought she'd go OP and wreck her entire generation or some sh*t because MC didn't do that.... but what the f*ck do we get. She gets to be the poor girl in a tragic love story.... really? You can have your shotas, duck you, but don't neglect little radish. I don't even know anymore after this, pretty much went downhill.

[collapse]

Some things were cool, like when she was a dragon, and turning little radish into a genius, which never happened for all I know, but this novel made me disappointed even more than the time that I actually realized that MC from Something Gods and Demons was actually a lump of sh*t by acting all righteous but actually was literally a pile of sh*t of hypocrisy <<less

You know, I REALLY liked this story at first. This novel "criticizes" a great majority of the XianXia genre, in a funny and amusing way, without being haughty and mocking about it. The MC is someone we can relate with (even if you're not a girl) because of how "realistic" she acts in terms of being a modern-day person.

As the story progresses, the antagonist is characterized like a generic XianXia protagonist, with how he conveniently encounters good fortune, with every woman coming to him as if he's the only... more>> man in the world, AND like the whole damn universe is biased to pave his way all the way to the top.

Ironicallythough, throughout the story, this novel falls prey to the same "criticisms" it gives to other Xianxia protagonist. What exactly Am I talking about?? It's about how almost everything about the antagonist is "demonized", every bad action emphasized to the max, his wrongdoings exaggerated. I'm not saying I like the Antagonist, because the author basically does'nt give him any redeeming features. It just that, those things gives the feeling of "hypocrisy".

It started to feel wrong for me when one of the " evil character #1" who was one of the earlier bad guy in the story was later conveniently portrayed as a tragic martyr just to accentuate the "unfairness" of the Antagonist. I kinda hated how the Author just dramatically changed his character to make him look like a victim. Well, you can say it's one of my pet peeves when Authors do that. Several stuff like this continues to happen throughout the story, with the same theme.
However, after all I've stated, I still continue to read this story, and probably till the end. Why, you ask?? Because it's good. Simple as that. Although the things I mention still bugs me, those things are actually one of the very few weakness (in MY opinion, of course) of this novel. So if you're wondering whether to read this or not, I recommend you to read. It may not be as satisfying as others say it to be, in the end, IT IS A VERY GOOD NOVEL, hands down. <<less

Hilarious with actual plot that seems like it will go somewhere. Translation quality is also top notch - doesn't make you feel that reading it will make the quality of your own English drop, nor are you constantly having to fix the grammar in your head. Or maybe I just have slight grammar OCD. Anyhow, it's one of the better chinese novels that I've read, in that it doesn't constantly bore you to death about cultivating from one level to another. When it happens it happens, but there is a... more>> surrounding plot that makes the cultivating explanations bearable. And did I mention the MC is hilarious? Her narrative makes even the most supposedly boring scenes interesting. There is also an actual point to the whole transmigration business - a reason why it's her and not any one else (and you can actually tell that the MC is a graduate in from the sciences as she sometimes uses her understanding of physics, chem and maths to make sense of things - she has a scientific logical mind), unlike many others where the MC may have transmigrated but we never find out why, her/his past in the modern world never actually makes a difference to the fantasy except make them maybe a bit more openminded - or others where protagnists somehow remember all kinds of scientific and technological processes that the average adult/teenager would most likely never have any idea about. She's definitely not a Mary Sue, but she's actually genuinely a really nice person though she might laugh at the idea. It's been a while since I've read/watched about a genuinely nice person that's relatable and not annoying or makes me want to strangle them for their naivety or foolishness.

The procession of the plot is quite unique as well (see: the various ____ she reincarnates into) and obvious tropes are hilariously lampshaded. And Master is adorable <3 <3 <3 <<less

This is a great parody of Xianxia. No, it isn't a parody of a specific series or a writers specific style, it is a complete parody of the genre in general. Not just Xianxia, but reincarnation, soul transmigration, and world with game elements as well.

Its really funny. It has performed comedy in its purest form, taking the mundane situation and giving an unexpected outcome in defiance of your previous depositions. That is comedy, creating an extraordinary outcome out of an ordinary event.

And this does it well. You will be surprised... more>> at how funny it is.

The only down part is:
Spoiler

Once the MC develops feelings... or rather is forced to develop feelings for her master (thanks to the overlord/god of this world), it goes kind of down hill. It comes out of nowhere, and makes you tilt you head at "why"

Other than that, this series is pretty entertaining. <<less

Initially entertaining, but so badly crafted it starts to go downhill halfway through and never really recovers.

While I do like poking fun at xianxia stories and videogames, it gets tiring after a while and the reader starts pondering things like "character development simply does not exists for these people huh" and "isn't this story a bit too long?" and, fatally, "oh no not sexism-as-a-plot AGAIN". I was really interested for about 150 chapters, then endured for 100 more then finished it on stubbornness. I shouldn't have, the ending is very... more>> unsatisfying and even leaves plot threads hanging.

I would also like to leave you with some warnings. The main character is terribly homophobic, transphobic and sexist. This is considered a normal and good thing and she does not grows out of it. The gender roles are more archaic then in Jin Wong's books.

Also, if you're looking for romance, look elsewhere, this story is action-oriented and the romance is very unromantical (also not steamy, it feels quite one-sided).

You've been warned. <<less

This is funny the first few times she dies but it's getting overused now. She changed genders and after the initial horror, she doesn't care at all. She doesn't take dying seriously anymore and the golden fingers are lowly pilling up one by one. I just want the author to take a step back and relax. Give it a break and stop trying to force the plot. If it wasn't o rushed and took a bit more care in the character profiles than it would be an amazing story. Right... more>> now it's only a so-so story though. <<less

The story has a comedic vibe, the story isn't very repetitive, and the main author doesn't believe in killing. The jokes are constantly reused like most chinese light novels. There is little character growth.

The biggest issues are the especially cringy parts. There's many unnecessarily long homophobic rants that are uncomfortable. The comedy could have been there, if the author hadn't gone into depth explaining how disgusting and terrible gay relationships are. The author doesn't seem to understand romance or relationships well either and they're immature. Unfortunately, it takes up a... more>> large part of the story. There's some s*x or nakedness scenes, but they're very short and the author was uncomfortable and unfamiliar writing them (s*x is described as turnip farming). Each description on how disgusting gayness is was significantly longer than the s*x scene. <<less
