Razé was a cheat soldier at the age of 15, thanks to the memories of her previous life. One day, she was summoned by her superior – the devil Prime Minister and was ordered to go on a long-term solo mission. She was expecting a harsh mission, but…

“I knew you are the right person for this, Lieutenant Colonel Razé Orphan. I want you to attend the Centrior Imperial Magic Academy starting from this spring.”

“…..what?”

Well, it seems that she has been appointed as the “bodyguard” for the prince and other noble’s kids. And so, she was enrolled to the school where the aristocratic-sama gathered.

Although she was puzzled by the glittering school life, she was trying to live a life so as not to be bullied in the future. But it seems there was a secret that she didn’t know hidden in this world.

“Hey!!!!!! No one told me that this is an otome game!!!!!”

As a bodyguard, her life would be over if any of the noble kids got hurt. But then a young lady who claimed to be the ill-fated villainess came by. If the girl died, won’t she be dead too?

Today, Razé will continue to watch over her school life (with her own life on the line).

Absolutely good storytelling for someone hiding their identity. Highly recommend anyone to read this.

Do start reading the Light Novel version instead since it is more properly structured in the storytelling, just like most LN compared to the web novel.

Very cringe. I would skip it unless you really like the genre. I couldn't continue beyond the eight chapter. The translation is better than most, though it could use some editing and is somewhat wooden, but that might be due to the source material.

The story itself is just shiver inducing, especially the main character that is a Lt. Colonel at 15, possibly earlier, after she started serving in the military at 5 (!) and she isn't only the strongest soldier in combat given the unique rank of "Wolf Fang" (~shiver~)... more>> she is also one of the smartest ones advising for the science and intelligence branches. Apparently she was often used for assassination and other PTSD inducing jobs.

This is justified by the fact she has reincarnated and supposedly was an adult and accomplished soldier in her past life, maybe. She also really hates her job, but had to do it because she was very poor at 5 and the most gifted person in history could only possibly join the military for some reason, and now she doesn't just quit because this is an unknown concept in Japan and hence can't be part of the story.

At the same time, everyone in the unit she commands treats her like a little sister/daughter, which is ridiculous, and so they send her to a magical high school.

So she happily goes to school even though she is supposedly around 40 years old and a war veteran all the while being wholly committed to enjoying the high school experience and being obnoxiously humble. "Ohh, I got high scores at the high school entrance exam ? Little me ? Just the best most elite soldier in history who is actually 40 did well on a test for high schoolers ? How shocking. Who could have expected it ?" *puke* <<less

This is pretty good for a light read. It mainly focuses on school life and friendship. MC doesn't fall in love with anyone but there are two other side couples (whose male counterparts I feel a bit questionable at times but I guess possessive guys are the craze now). Thankfully MC is single and pretty cool. Overall it's fun, interesting, doesn't have many plot holes, doesn't drag on with unnecessary drama and most importantly, it's short enough for me to finish in half a day.

I am disappointed that there wasn't... more>> much written about Raze's military life during war or past. It was just glossed over with some stuffs. I had expected that there won't be much action since it's shoujo but the whatever actions that were left were not that good either. Whenever Raze is in military, it's always "cleaning up monsters". C'mon, I know she's cleaning up monsters but show some details? No. The best action scene should've been the Battle Festa but even then she was holding back a lot cause others were far behind her level. I just really wanted to see her having a fight with everything she's got cause I really liked her magic!

There's not much to say about side characters. They're fine. Not cardboard cutouts but not very three dimensional either. Since it mainly focuses on Raze's school life and her mission from her POV, we don't really need see what's going on in their head as long as they act rationally like a person which they do so it's OK.
Spoiler

My biggest problem with this is how Raze feels like she shouldn't be friends with them cause she's a soldier, that she's killed humans and that she's not some good person. I just don't get where she gets this idea from?! I mean c'mon! One of your friends is an assassin/butler and aside from Folia, everyone knows it inwardly and accepts it. And you f*cking work for their fathers? And your job is also very legal?? And like, they're gonna do jobs that kill people (i.e. King, queen, knight, assassin, wizard etc.) after they graduate too??? Nobody never treated her unfairly even in the past because she's a soldier! I get that she feels guilty for hiding her identity from her friends but what's so controversial about being a soldier that you're afraid your friends will dislike you? And tbh nobody gave a sh*t about her being a "soldier" after the reveal. They were just shocked that she's so damn strong and she's "the" Wolf Fang. So all her worries and dramas in her head was her own problem. And JP novels should really learn to differentiate between being humble and having an inferiority complex (albeit very minor inferiority complex in this case).

[collapse]

I would rate this a 3.5/5 story wise but I'm just really happy about how MC doesn't fall in love and turns into an idiot here like others, also she's pretty cool and has brains, so my final rating will be a 4/5. <<less

I've finished the web novel, up to c92. This novel is amazing! I've complained on many a villainess novel with a badass FL that the female protagonist turns into submissive mush as soon as a domineering ML comes along, and this was one of the precious few novels where the MC stayed badass until the very end. She doesn't blush and stammer when a hot guy touches her shoulders, she doesn't sign her life away because a hot guy asks her too (*cough* Queen of the Scalpel *cough*), and when... more>> the going gets tough she takes charge and resolves the situation on her own. The MC has her own backstory and internal struggles, and while she definitely interacts with both male and female characters much of the novel focuses on her own internal growth. It's a very refreshing take on a villainess novel. There are romantic subplots, for those interested in such things, but the author made it clear in their author notes (not translated by the translator, I think?) that they wanted to focus on the MC herself, not on the MLs.

I do have some complaints about the novel, but overall I found them pretty minor compared to the joy that is a badass female lead in a villainess novel (woo!). Most of the reincarnators in the novel are utterly obsessed about the otome game - the villainess has nightmares every night about her impending doom (which was a single CG in the game), while the saintess of another country hires assassins and pushes her country to war just so she can romance the game's prince. These are very extreme reactions for someone who's just played a dating sim once, and frankly while the prince is kinda cool I'm not sure if he deserves such yandere fangirls. I also wish the ending was extended more - all the plotlines of the novel were ended within 10 chapters from c80-c90, including the main antagonist, revealing the MC's identity to her classmates, the MC deciding her future, the fate of the ML's romances, the game's threads of fate, and more. It's a lot to fit into 10 chapters, although I get that the author had RL issues that forced them to rush the conclusion. <<less

If novelupdates allowed halves, I'd give this a 3.5 out of five, but I thought I'd round up.

The premise of the novel is that our protagonist reincarnated into a world of an otome game that (and here's the twist) she never played. She was a super competent soldier from a very young age, with the explanation being that she had an adult's mind in a child's body, although I don't think that justifies exactly how powerful she gets. Other novels use the excuse of combining a child's neuroplasticity with the... more>> drive and existing knowledge of an adult, but I'm disappointed that they didn't delve more into how she became so powerful.

Anyway, the plot that actually matters is that a highly competent soldier goes to school and makes friends. It's pretty fluffy and sadly not too substantial. However, I think that it does what it sets out to do as competently as can be expected <<less

I liked this story, it actually kind of reminds me of Eliza. The feMC is a badass warrior in an otome game. It's nice that there's actually no infuriatingly annoying "rival" character or love interest so far.

Also the current translator ("Fans Translations") is very excellent. Their work is stunningly fast and the quality is really good.

Not to be that guy, and while the story is cute and all. I'm getting big red flags from the romance between 2 characters

Spoiler

Folia (the original heroine) and her guardian. Like the 10 year age gap is called cute, but it reads more like grooming imo

I love how the female lead is a strong and independent woman. I especially love how she is able to solve her problems without defaulting to 'omg ML pls help me' since there's no ML and thus, no romance. It's more of a wholesome friendship story. But I do wish there was a little more emphasis on the FL's past but that's because I really like angst.

Okay I was not that impressed by this one initially but on further reflection it's honestly one of the best ones out there. I LOVE that Raze is not strong according to the rules of her world, but she turns her minor ability into a major one by understanding how it works and her sheer determination. The academic side of the story was both good and a little weird, given that Raze is MUCH more of a battlefield character than anything else. I ADORE that Raze is the definition of... more>> bad*ss and never stops being THE solution to any military problem they have. She doesn't soften, she doesn't get weak or mushy when she meets the MLs, she has negative interest in romance and quite frankly is busy handling her sh*t.

I have to admit my FAVORITE character was the "villainess" who is also isekai'd - the two of them with the original heroine are a fantastic force of friendship. I *do* wish there had been more definitive romance, but honestly the story didn't need it, and the interactions between Raze and the ML were very nicely done. The side characters are all fantastic although I do have to agree with Lovermanga about the grooming of Folia with the 10 year age gap. That is just CREEPY to me. The other isekai'd "heroine" who was the main antagonist at the end was handled BEAUTIFULLY.

I was REALLY mad about how fast the ending wrapped up. There was probably another 30-40 chapters worth of material that just got all wrapped up in the last 5-10 chapters, but at least we got an ending. I don't know if the series was cancelled or the magazine folded or what, but it felt like it was massively rushed. <<less

Wish it was better than it is. I like the premise of the FL being a soldier-brain in an otome game academy.

Unfortunately, the novel doesn't really develop that in a very interesting way. She's dense as a metamorphic rock for anything outside soldiery, which is really unfortunate given that she is supposed to be a practiced spy in addition to being a supersoldier. Her love interest is supposed to be some kind of kid genius, but ultimately doesn't make much of an impression, and he spends most of the book... more>> failing to get over his silly ideas about power instead of actually doing any manipulation, surveillance, figuring out who this superpowered weirdo with high level civil-military connections who's suddenly in his class is, and whatever else he's supposed to have inherited from his pops. The other characters are mostly flat; the best one is Carna, with her combination of being extremely negative and being extremely fond of the "in-game" male lead, but she's undercut by the total dullness of said love interest.

On top of that, the actual plot is quite abbreviated. It reads like the author spent too much time on the slice of life, and then their editor told them to wrap it up and finish the plot, so they did so in summary fashion. Much of the plot action takes place totally or partly offscreen, and the enemy characters are pretty much completely uninteresting.

Just to add insult to injury,
Spoiler

she doesn't even get with her guy in the end! Cripes. Last-minute romances are pretty shit, but at least there's some follow-through.

Chapter 1:
This chapter 1 is terrible at making their making the MC the badass MC. It feels like someone tried to make Tanya Degurechaff's backstory but didn't do any of the work to show us how powerful MC is. It just says "the MC is OP, I don't need to show you how they just are.". Still gonna read further to see if it gets any better but so far it feels like the writing is gonna be shallow.

Chapter 6:
The only way I can reconcile the story so... more>> far is if I completely ignore what the title is called. Honestly the MC doesn't feel like they're actually a soldier. It feel like a child thinking what a soldier would be thinking or be like. I called it shallow on chapter 1 but now it just feels completely flat. There's very little if no depth to the story at this point. <<less

Quick Review :

The plot and side-characters are good, the FL is pretty decent, the beginning until the middle of the story is pretty entertaining with slice-of-life elements.

But the ending is absolute dogsh*t.

A quick read that I finished in 2-3 hours. Overall an okay read, as in I can follow the plot and story is readable.

Plot wise, it's not the worst. It's got the basic background down, I don't have trouble following events, and most things are easy to understand. There's not much going on, and for a slice of life, I'd say it's not boring. Some things are a bit sudden (kinda like some things that could've been expanded got completely crushed), but I ignored it. I think my biggest problem... more>> is how the novel sets up the otome game events. Sudden and out of nowhere, and it feels like the author is thinking up the plot as they go, since it feels messy. The pacing of the ending was pretty hurried, and the ending was a bit disappointing. Makes me wonder if the author had something come up so they had to rush the ending. (Also world-building is kinda like a dump. Don't know how to explain it.)

Characters are a bit of a let down. I can get most of the characters but none of them are particularly memorable. Most of them don't do anything to push forward the plot (but when I think about it, does this novel even have plot events?) . A lot of characters appear without doing anything, except being nice side characters. They're nice, but I don't really even know what to say about them since they basically do nothing? Even the villains that gets mentioned early kinda dies without a fight. Characters aren't written well, but it's good enough for a binge-read.

Like I said, it's readable. The translation gets a pass, and despite not fulfilling a lot of its potential, it's enough for me to finish and enjoy it for a bit before getting disappointed about how it could have been written better. Have a nice day. <<less

This is a fun, relatively short series. I won't call it great, but it drew me in well enough to binge read to the end in two sittings.

The MC is a reincarnator, but her past life memories more closely resemble watching someone's biography than her own experience. This causes some dichotomy in her character - a bit childish in some ways yet strangely mature in others.

There's action, some comedy, a bit of drama, but nothing depressing, which I greatly appreciate.

Translation is good. There are some weabo moments, but nothing worth... more>> complaining over.

The story has a happy ending, though it's left slightly ambiguous whether or not the fMC married the love interest or if he's still in the process of chasing her. <<less

This one's not for me. As of chapter 13, I haven't seen any plot development, interesting character interactions, or any kind of narrative stakes, and I've run out of motivation to keep going. It's just a bullet list of events: " Here is the matron. Here is the dorm room. Regular girls sure love the popular guys. Here is the bath."

I would expect, from the title of the story and MC's credentials, that there would be some fun juxtaposition of this hardened, legendary "Wolf Fang" veteran MC in a fantasy... more>> school setting. Maybe that's something to be found in the future, but as of now, Razé acts exactly like the ordinary girl she's described as in chapter 1. She doesn't do anything interesting, or react to things in any meaningful way, but narrator promises that she's secretly very good and skilled. The other characters are no better; this is probably the 3rd time Folia has been taken aback by her popularity and it's beginning to grate.

2 stars if only because I hear
Spoiler

the MC doesn't fall in love. That's pretty cool.

Chapter 44 currently. It’s not as cringe as I thought it would be and bad as that person said. It’s really only the Military name designations that are cringe like: wolfgang etc. Plus even if she’s reincarnated and mentally of older age, it’s not like she tried to groom any people— she volunteered to fight instead. Can’t really say she’s a creep on that regard.

Not sure how it’d go in the later chapters, but currently it’s all just fluff and friendship stuff. Not that much romance yet, but it is... more>> building.

Read this if you just want something that’s wholesome. <<less

while I feel the soldier girl has way too many qualifications, the story itself is quite entertaining.

the story manages to balance the main character between being a soldier and a student. She doesn't stand out much, isn't overly aggressive, yet totally brutal when she needs to be. I'm glad the autheur doesn't fully suppress one side of the character in favour of the other.

due to it's length its good story for a quick read, with a suprising amount of depth.

I have mixed feelings about this one. While on the one hand it is an intresting depiction of the contrasting world between the MC and her friends at school, and its strangely realistic in some ways, it does have some flags which are a bit disturbing, though they are not meants to be portrayed as such.

Spoiler

The heroines love intrest seems to be grooming her from a young age, the prince is obsessive with his own love interest, the MC has been exploited and brainwashed since she was 5 years old, etc.

But, though it has issues it is still really interesting. It is a recommended read, though please do not follow the characters footsteps, especially regarding romantic interests. <<less
