“The information displayed inside shows that you’re still in high school, and you also don’t belong to any entertainment company, so what made you think of participating in our talent show?”

Qin Lu opened his eyes and found himself standing right under the spotlight. In front of him sat four people with strong auras and delicate makeup. The tiered pyramid-shaped seats behind them were filled with handsome young boys. Their gazes were all fixated on Qin Lu, watching his performance.

Some fragments of memories quickly flashed in Qin Lu’s mind.

The former film emperor Qin Lu, who died on set due to an accident just a moment ago, was extremely calm.

He dealt with problems accordingly and ended up unintentionally accomplishing great things along the way—

Not only did he debut, he even became one of the most sought-after A-list celebrities in the circle.

First of all, how is this not BL?

Honestly, really loved how heart-warming this is. Should warn that this is definitely not for everyone but if you do like intense friendship, showbiz and slice of life, this may be for you.

Let's start with the MC, Qin Lu. I do like him, a talented and warm actor transmigrated into a young boy who strove to become an idol and discovered lifelong friendships along the way. He changed the lives of the characters he interacts with positively and gave them warmth and support,... more>> garnering a full-fledged harem of handsome, successful men by the end of it. The best part was how he got along with the people around him and his occasional but precious gap moe when he is taken by surprise or when his cheeky side comes out.

As much as I do like him though, I would easily admit that he is an overly perfect character, too flawless for my taste. Qin Lu can do anything, can be anything and will always achieve excellent results. Of course, the novel portrayed his hard work (spoiler: his studies) which is fine but other characteristics were too exaggerated in my opinion (spoiler: martial arts skills).

The main thing is that I felt that he had SO MUCH potential for growth, more than what he got in the novel, especially emotionally. Unfortunately, it was not explored as much as I hoped it would. 251 chapters were not enough and the end of it did not feel rushed but instead... lacking? As if there should have been more but oh, huh, that's it?

And that is entirely what took out an entire star for me honestly. The author could have elaborated more on so many things but instead simply ended it just like that. Just, the missed potential? Can't say this enough. Or maybe I just want more.

Also, what had felt abrupt was his (spoilers) acting career. It was that MC shot up too fast and too easily? Despite friendship and luck being the themes of the novel, this is one of the events that felt a little bland to me, perhaps because I was expecting more challenges for the MC to watch him stumble and grow, which we got minimally. Maybe that was also what I am not too fond of; the MC being perfect and thus, everything being so smooth sailing that it felt too idealistic? Especially when it's in the entertainment industry? Yeah.

Despite all this, it was a wonderful novel that I binge MTL-ed for like 2? 3? days. MC's relationships and the side characters' relationships, particularly his idol friends with each other, are really good, especially if you do like broships. The characters are pretty memorable and the banters are fun. Competition is more healthy than hostile, with rivals ending up more as begrudging friends than anything else.

Spoiler

Why do they gotta be so possessive over MC though.

All in all, a relaxing and wholesome read; 4/5. <<less

Hi everyone! I'm the new translator for this novel (after it was sadly dropped after ch 7). This was actually my first MTL'd novel; that's how good it was. When no one else picked it up, I knew I had to take it into my own hands.

First of all, I love the MC. Qin Lu is someone we all wish we had in our lives: warm, patient, and endlessly kind, yet firm when he needs to be. He's a person who is willing to admit his shortcomings, and is unafraid... more>> of showing them to others. As other reviewers have pointed out, it is undeniable that Qin Lu is an OP gary stu, but the way the novel is written makes it feel natural. His abilities don't come out of thin air, but rather from hard work and effort that we can see. One of the main gripes people have with gary stus are their lack of personality and development, but we truly see the opposite in Qin Lu--whether it is his attitude towards the stage or his relationship with his family. There are times he feels too good to be true, because he's the kind of person you desperately wish is. Because the world would be a kinder place with people like him.

Just like the people around him, you'll also fall a little in love with him. As you read, you also begin to understand why all the people he's built relationships with protect him fiercely even though he certainly can protect himself. There a depth to this novel that so many other novels about the entertainment industry lack. Maybe not tragedy, but certainly struggle. Dreams, youth, and what it means to be an idol and bear the weight of both joy and expectation.

that's not to say that this novel doesn't have shortcomings, however; others have pointed out that it is a little long-winded, and I agree--it does drag out a little sometimes. But the pacing of it is, I believe, perfect. Without the kind of introspection this novel goes into, we lose that depth.

as you may have already seen in the tags, this novel is not BL. Personally, I think there's room for everyone here. If you would like to read it as a story of brotherhood and comradery, that's what it is. If you would like to read it as a story of brotherhood, comradery, and gay romance, that's what it is too. Neither perspectives diminish the meaningful relationships between the characters.

to end off this long ass review, I wish all of you who pick up this novel to enjoy it while it lasts--very few novels have given me such an intense bittersweet feeling as this one. Happy Reading!

lol the spacing of this is messed up, sorry. I can't fix it for some reason : ( <<less

This novel is my top 1 now. IT'S SO CUTE. The relatioship between MC and the around people is so precious. I love how MC is kind and calm and for this, he conveys a sense of peace to his friends (teammate, rivals, fans).

there isn't drama and problems like others novels with same genre (idol, showbiz) but it don't take away the beauty of the work. On the contrary, the singularity makes it even more interesting. It's been a while since I read a novel that didn't bore me in... more>> the middle, I read it for 2 days straight and I think it wasn't enough. All characters were interesting and the friendship that the MC created with them warmed the heart.

For those who are tired of seeing cliche drama and want to see something cute and lighter, this novel is 100% suitable.

I enjoyed this NO CP series more than I thought I would. It's a simple, fun story about a second chance with a focus on the entertainment circle and online fan comments (a LOT of online fan responses).

the MC is, of course, OP in most ways, but it doesn't matter. He's likable and kinda zen most of the time so the few times you see him shaken up about something, it hits different.

there's some stan-wars between fan groups at the start, but over all the story is blessedly free of... more>> melodrama and the ubiquitous, constant blacking of the MC we see in other Chinese entertainment novels.

Spoiler

the ending is left up to the individuals interpretation and I felt kind of bitter sweet when it was over.
I was still left with one question when I finished reading; what happened to the original owner of the body? Usually there some reason (like getting hit on the head or drowning) where the body dies and the soul leaves and the MC jumps in, but that doesn't happen here. Maybe I missed it with MTL.

[collapse]

I will certainly read this again once it's translated but for now its a 4.5 <<less

I don't know how to express or describe how I felt about this book after finishing it.

It was sometimes good, sometimes happy, and sometimes sad and touching. On the other hand, I felt flat, bored, and even impatient/faded up. I didn't have any strong or any special feelings after finishing this book. It was just that I had a sudden feeling of emptiness.

The plot sometimes appears to be too slow and verbose for unnecessary parts, but there are also plots that are too rushed or have potential but are not... more>> developed by the author.

With all of this, I'm not sure if this is truly good or not, but I'd say it's not bad for passing the time, but it's also not that good either. In the end, it was only so-so.😔

When I got to the end, the excitement that I had felt at first had already faded away a long time ago. (The excitement that I felt and had at first had already gone and faded away a long time ago, when I reached the last part.)

However, as the title implies, this remains the primary focus of the story.

Spoiler

There's no romance here. So don't expect much more than fan service.

There are already many good reviews about this novel, so I won't say much.

Damn I just have this very uncomfortable feeling in my chest after reading it almost to the end.
Kinda like emptiness...

I can't even say that I liked it all that much. But why do I feel even shittier than when I finished some of my favourite novels?

Really f*cking bittersweet.

Just ready yourself for the same if you want to read it.

I love this so much. I can't believe I would love it to this extent. The friendship, the laughs, the characters are all so amazing. They made the novel alive.

The main character (Qin Lu) is so sweet, he's the core of the novel, and I love him so much. He finally let go of the past and got the happiness he deserved. I kinda low-key shipped him with Lu Xi though.

The novel didn't really face the issue if it's BL or not but it's openly shipping characters. At the end... more>> of the novel no relationships formed though, it's an open ended ending so I just imagined the best ending in my head.

One of the aspects I actually like in this novel is there's no darkness in it. Even if there's competition going on between characters, they still maintain a friendly relationship to each other, laughing together, and not aggressive. Most of the novel that has a entertainment industry setting shows darkness like drugs, bribing, backstabbing, scheming, prostitution, and all. So this is very clear stream to me since the author didn't showed those things in the novel.

And I love the characters, they're very friendly so each other. Like Xu Zhenran and Qin Lu.

Spoiler

Their fans kinda clashed with each other due to an issue but they didn't let that determine their friendship.

[collapse]

I also love the different nationalities trying hard to learn the language and the other characters trying hard not to laugh. The characters just have so much chemistry with each other.

Words can't tell how much I badly want to read this again the first time. I highly recommend this novel if you're still hesitating. <<less

I honestly can't believe I managed to finish this story in a day. Usually when I read stories with 100+ chapters, I have to take a break or I lose interest before I start reading again but this story was really relaxing. It's a feel good story and there isn't really a problem blocking Mc's way which may not be to everyone's taste.

This is a no romance story, one of the few rare ones that make you wish it was romance focused o (T◇T o)

There are lots of bl... more>> undertones and I felt like one of the fans in the story, to the point I wanted to look at their fan edits and fanfiction haha.

Mtl is surprisingly readable and there are some weirdly translated words but most of the meaning can be understood. I'm currently riding on the high (and sadness) of finishing this story, so I'll give it a 5/5. <<less

I really like this novel. It's light, fun to read, and doesn't have any excessive drama. I love the way they interact with each other (their team mates and their seniors) especially with Qin Lu's harem (LOL, kidding). I really laugh out loud whenever I read netizens comments and as well as Yihan's reactions (Qin Lu's sister) during live stages.

Overall, I recommend you to read it if you want a happy and relaxing story. 😀

This one is just wonderful. The MC is well done. Is not just a boy's journey into a top idol (that's just the superficial setting). Is about a man that got the chance to try life as a youth once more.

Spoiler

Due to his past he knew to persevere, to cherish each person and value each milestone. He was not born a gentleman, he was mold through hardship resulting in what we see.

The sadness it gives at times is due to the MC reminder that mundane happiness do not last forever and is only appreciated when is gone. These moments earned the 5 stars.

I really, really, really, enjoyed this novel. Actually this is my first review, so don't excpect anything like amazing as a review.

First of all, I loved the friendship. It always felt warm to me, and it never felt "weird" or "cringe" to me. Not the right words but whatever. I loved how Lu Xi/ Lucy and Qin Lu became friends, and— ... more>>
Spoiler

How Qin Lu dealt with his stalker. Actually there was a part where when QL went back to school and his stuff continued to go missing, and I think the author could have done more with that, but its fine.

[collapse]
Anyway, second of all I loved that this story was actually quite emotional. Not emotional when it came to QL's friends and himself, but his fans. How they worked hard to make the flower venues, and doing stuff. Sometimes the warmth and happiness the author wrote about the fans and QL's emotional interactions made me cry.

Third: I actually felt a little bored with this story at first, and there were some parts where I just scrolled to get it over with. So I am not saying this story is perfect, because there is no story that is perfect. But sometimes its these imperfections that make you love them more.

This is not a totally warm and cute story, because there are some serious moments. I was worried for a moment about QL and that Gu girl (i forgot her name 😭) because it seemed as if she had some feelings for QL after acting with him — but I'm glad it was just her being too involved with the character she acted.

Yes, some parts of this story felt rushed, like QL's acting career, but to be honest I don't mind. The ending was open, and left to your imagination or expectation.

Honestly though — LJC sort of gives a feeling that you think he romantically likes QL.. But he doesn't. The friendships are just very intense, yk..

Anyway, please read this story! Give it a try, and don't listen to the people who say its bad. I give this 4.8/5 stars! (I know it says 4 stars but it wouldn't let me change it to five TT) <<less

I loved this. From the perfect MC to the blatant queerbaiting, despite lacking everything that would make a literary masterpiece, we have here a novel of friendship, second chances and hard work. A novel that warms the heart and makes you grin. (And I'm saying this despite enduring MTL)

Basically a somewhat talented adaptable MC that learns more and more to become a top in idol industry.

The annoying things is (for me personally) is the element of "bromance" is too thick, basically if there is love mentioned even a little bit, then it will become shounen-ai and if 'adult-content' is included it will become Yaoi.

If not for that, it will be a nice inspirational step to step of an idol story novel.

Absolute favorite. I actually mistook it for danmei cause I was looking for a showbiz themed one, but can't say I mind much falling into this pit. It was a good read. MC is pretty much OP with ironically ordinary background but he's so zen about everything so I find him likeable.

The people around him are also lovely. It gives them a more grounded impression and not just 2 dimensional characters. It's not so full of face slapping like the usual with showbiz rebirth or transmigrating genre like this so... more>> I find it a refreshing read. It's truly worthy a spin, please do check it out. <<less

Very good heartwarming story

The MC progress in career goes unhindered, no drama, but it was not boring. I love the simple plot and the heartwarming relationship MC has with others

The CP couple are cute as f, I shipped them very much. There was no romance with opposite s*x, there was also no opposite s*x chasing MC. There was only loving relationship MC has with his team members and also peoples who MC bond in variety show.

I can't describe how happy I am reading this novel. I just recommended it very... more>> much if you want lighthearted story. It makes you warm, fluffy, happy. MC is lovable, the side characters are likeable.

I easily MTL this novel all the way. Easy reading. This novel definitely have a special place within my heart.

P/s: although some might say, MC is too OP or MC doesn't have any troubles or problems occur throughout his career. My respond is if you read to the end, and read how MC describe his previous life... I... just want to wish his happiness. I'm happy in his 2nd life he doesn't have to suffer as much <<less

I didn't finish reading this novel. Not because of the bromance undertone (it didn't come from the characters itself, just fans being a bit TOO enthusiastic lol) but because... the story was so smooth sailing

Oh don't get me wrong, I love reading a story where nothing happen, just main character being happy. I read Superstars of Tomorrow and Become a Star novels, after all. But still, make the main character memorable. Give him a quirk that's just not him being a nice guy. Most of his idol's member are pretty... more>> forgettable too. Sometimes, too many characters can be detrimental to the uniqueness of those said characters, their personalities might overlap. I seriously could not differentiate between Fan Xi and Su Qinglan at some days. I often forgot Nan Xiao exists, even! Should've just stop at 6 people max rather than 9, tbh.

Not to mention, for an idol novel, they don't have that many song lyric at the first 100 chapters. Only dance choreography. That's... kinda bad

But I will still give this novel a thumb up. I had a lot of fun reading the said first 100 chapter. Even though there's no song lyric, the writing was still good, not gonna lie. Legit went into a fangirl mode because author decribed the handsomness of the characters so dang well lol. That's why I can still give this novel a nice score even if I only read it till chapter 100. The reviews on this site is very favorable as well and they might give you a much more clear look of how this novel went rather than my incomplete review. So, go check it out. Maybe I would go back to this novel and finish it someday <<less

Just got done with talent show part. Overall I'd say it's pretty warm. My main gripe is author is inconsistent with giving MC memories, so like he knows family members and stuff, but doesn't know if X song was released in this world. Because of talent show they are cut off from Internet, so that would drive me insane.

I enjoyed this one quite a lot! Looking at the plot is it’s quite simple, just about the MC growing and making friends along the way in showbiz. The execution is done well, and there’s not a lot of twists and turns, but it does feel entertaining. (Ending feels like natural progression but also a very quick close to the story, which does seem a bit abrupt)

I love the characters! They all feel distinct enough and all are pretty interesting as characters. If the MC was any other side... more>> character, I feel like I would nevertheless enjoy the pov. That’s how interesting they are to me. It’s a very entertaining cast, especially their friendship with the MC. They’re not particularly deep characters considering the amount of them, but none of them feel flat.

One thing I did feel a bit weird about is how they sort of portray their relationship in a sort of almost romantic way. I came in with the expectation that there would be no scenes like this, as it’s a no CP, but then the author just casually dumps these almost romantic descriptions between MC and half the side cast and I’m like (;° ロ°).
Spoiler

Author includes a lot of scenes where the characters are shipped together without making anyone an actual love interest. It feels like author is trying to hit their target audience of BL readers without fully making it BL, which is... personally, I don’t like it much.

[collapse]
Not necessarily a bad thing, but feels a bit weird for those not looking for romance. but I mean... you’re not bros if you’re don’t seem gay I guess.

Overall, pretty enjoyable! If you like showbiz (and don’t mind the shipping) you’ll probably enjoy this! <<less
