Best of the best. The plot is excellent and doesn't feel too simple, contrived or forced, and the characters are amazing and never one-dimensional. Really, best male lead, best 2nd female lead, and in my opinion one of the best female leads I've ever read- without them ever being flat or simple. I hardly know what to do with myself now that the novel is over. (Reread it, I guess? I'm hoping for a hard copy English translation someday.)

This is one of webnovel from SK that gave you plot, drama, and excitement at the same time with consistent and detail characteristic in depth compared to other classic era webnovel from SK/CN/JP.

  • MC truly deserved the villainess title. There's no misunderstanding. If I had to say, she was indeed Mil's daugther. I think her innate personality was inherent thing. MC got the fragility (seek the warmth of family) from her mother, while Lawrence got the 'lack of emotion' from her. Almost every noble thought 'I deserve this' 'do you know who I am?' and that's pretty normal. But Lawrence also inhereted his father's ruthless personality and his habit of 1. Could put aside personal feeling while it's about business and political issue. 2. Cannot trust other bcs he saw other like himself (full of tactic and deceitfulness) 3. Couldn't stand someone looked higher (got more prestige and better opinion on other pov) than himself. That's why Lawrence had a flaw in humanity, while MC never got that kind of personality because she's not the emperor's daugther.

    she never despised her mother for abusing him, nor her brother for discarding her. She turned her loyalty into ML because she never thought her effort making her brother the new emperor would ended up as the fallen of the empire and lot of innocent citizen suffer from incompetent ruler at handling the empire

  • Every move she took, she already thought and considered it many times. Since she decided to assist ML, she treated him as leader a.k.a she wouldn't make decision that against ML's conscience. She did end some life but it's not the innocent one, but more like people on other side

    she ended the butler's life who was loyal to Lawrence. This butler someone who fear the strong and rude to the weak, someone who couldn't trust your secret on. Meanwhile, she agree to think another method in different act. Because ML thought that 'move' would make citizen a.k.a innocent people who were farmer suffered. Although it's momentarily, he didn't wish so.

I just found out the webnovel main story was finished translated here. But I've read the webtoon and I could guarantee you, this is not for everyone. Those who seek cheesy romance, handsome male chased after beautiful female, ML saves damsel in distress, cheesy drama, b*tch-slapping event, etc. Better just left this alone rather than give distasteful review or star. In short don't say thing like >70% dark chocolate is yuck and bitter if prefer white milk chocolate that is super sweet (or honey) and ended up by critizing that dark chocolate like thing isn't yummy at all.

This is an exceptional novel which you don't wanna miss!

It's got a very well thought out story in the sense that every plot point weaves together seamlessly. It's so satisfying to see previous setups paying off.

The tone of the novel is a little grim to show off a more realistic story. Yet it doesn't hesitate to make you cry out in happiness for the characters either. And it's all done in a very grounded sense. Nothing really breaks your suspension of belief or feels like it was made up on... more>> the spot.

The characters are so loveable too! You just find yourself rooting for them the entire way through. Sometimes good things happen. Sometimes bad. Yet still they try to stay true to themselves as they change and adapt to the situation. They have their own personalities and react to circumstances in their own unique way. It's so interesting to see the humane side to the choices they have to make.

One final thing to note is while the story is exciting the novel itself isn't high tension. This made it feel more realistic but may put off some readers. I recommend you give it a try and see how it feels to experience this lovely gem. <<less

The novel is quite nice, but the translation is lacking and it really hurts this story since it has actual depth and the conversations the chracters are having are critical. One could pick the manwha instead, which is somewhat better translated, but the manwha skips about 5-10% of the story. If the novel is fast paced, the manwha is hectic. So you either get a mangled version of everything or a partial yet mostly comprehensible version.

The first about 60 chapters are especially badly translated, the translation gets better later. If... more>> you find it hard to read, you can start with the manwha and switch back either when you get confused by the pacing or you reach the end of the manwha.

A little about the story itself. We have an actually clever female lead that actually schemes and other great stuff like that, it is quite nice. Also, there is no harem building nonsense and the romance is quite well done actually. <<less

So far so good. I like this one!

The part I don’t like is the back story. I am confused why the FL fell in the first time. She seems to be smart and all. Also her mother! Yuk!

Anyway, the ML is super gentle. I like him a lot. No s*x scenes, which is good for me.

Scenes jump and sometimes confusing. I feel like the author is not familiar with this kind of scenes.

For example, some of the characters recover their memories of the previous timeline, before Tia turns back the time, including Cedric. Cedric remembering gets us the story of how he loved her in the first timeline, too, which is sweet, but for some reason I thought the consequences the characters remembering were too minor. And I think I would have preferred if Cedric wasn't in love with Tia in the first timeline. That would have made Tia accepting the fact that she's changed the timeline on her own will and strength and that she's fallen in love with someone (and is allowing herself to fall in love in this timeline, i.e., forgiving herself for the first timeline) much more significant. The fact that Cedric was in love with her in the first timeline makes it all seem predestined, and that's weak and takes agency from the characters. It's also cliched.

Really enjoying this story. Intelligent characters and charismatic female and male leads (with opposite personalities that blend well together). My favorite second-chance-in-life novel so far.

The story so far is interesting, but I am so distracted by the way every single conversation has one or the other party calling the other person's name instead of providing a response! And then the original speaker goes on talking! It's as if the name-calling was just to provide a paragraph break. It's really annoying to read "Tia." "Tia." "Priest." "Dame." over and over again in the same conversation. I can't imagine a real conversation going like that.

Excellent read, the ML is like the greenest of all flags and I loved his dedication towards MC. The only thing I can pick on is MC's mother's motive, it does not make sense to me but if it wasn't there we wouldn't have gotten our wonderfully tragic MC.

At the beginning, I almost gave up because the translation was quite... Limited. The plot is very complex and I felt I was missing a lot of important points because the sentences were hard to understand. Thankfully, around the 60th chapter, the translation improved and I could really enjoy the story.

In my opinion, it's the best novel of this genre (strategy, politics, turn back time). It's because the plot if we'll crafted, and all the characters are written with so much depths, cleverness and realism.

It's really so well-written and I have to agree with another reviewer that ML here is just green flag from the start (and I assume until finish). The characters are so complex and there's a lot of character development happening in this story. The political fighting is intricately written. I have to drop this for now bc I kinda want to refresh with a lively no-brainer novel. I will read this another time for sure.

The story is so rich and dense that sometimes I feel I am not smart enough to fully comprehend this novel. A lot of political talks and scheming, financial and geographical theories as well as the typical aristocratic society culture that sometimes I can't understand what the heck it is all about. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy reading it.

I adore this novel and its take on a woman trying her hardest to repair the damage she once done. Unlike a lot of other villainess novels, she isnt a misunderstood character. She did bad things to survive in her harsh household but now can fix it. Also the ML is amazing and an actual good person which is rare to find in romance novels these days.

As of now, its really good and MC stands up to her title "the Villainess" without a glitch. She is a complex person and really good at abusing information to her benefits. When other characters were thinking a step or two ahead, She is laying traps for the endgame. She is a genius level trickster. Long after Dantalian of DD vol1., she is one of best "anti-hero" protagonist, I came across.

World setting is relatively consistent and there is no "brat" villains and everyone has some level of working brain.

Its political aspects, a quick look:

MC and FL - Artezia Rosan - is the Heir Apparent of Marquis Rozan - one of richest noble family. What's interesting is her Mother is Miraila and father is one of Michael's grandson, yes Grandson!
Michael's daughter (from another mrg) who is the heir after Michael, to avoid the shame, accepted Tia as her sister instead of her granddaughter.
Miraila poisoned other direct descendants during Michael's mourning and thus, Tia become a sole "living" heir of Riches of Rosen.

Lawrence: - MC's elder brother and Miraila and Emperor's son. As illegitimate child of emperor, he has no rights over Rosen estate and for the throne - he needs improve his standing over the more legitimate Roygar and Cedric. Emperor can't simply appoint him as his Crown Prince, as he himself lacks legitimacy.

Miraila: Michael Rosen's wife, and Emperor's Lover. She gave birth to emperor's bastard son Lawrence. Birth of Tia, who looked more like Michael made a huge commotion and emperor disliked her for infidelity, but soon accepted her and even protected her from Rosen's Poisoning incident and cover ups.

Emperor Gregor: Adopted son of late Emperor with 'First' Empress. He is a selfish, greedy and yet a competent person.
After previous 'first' empress died, Emperor remarried, resulting in the birth of Cedric's mom and Duke Roygar. But at that time, Gregor had already established himself as Prince (while those two were still kids). As such he rose to the throne by taking, Lady of Liagan, as Empress and making his rule stable.

He has no legitimate living sons, so throne war is going on....

Empress, Lady of Liagan - Liagan is one of the wealthiest family. She lost her 3children (1 daughter and 2 sons) - legitimate royal children- in accidents and diseases, she lost her close aid - Viscountess Fescher, her family's support due to Gregor undermining them.

She shut herself in her palace and waiting to do something to make Gregor suffer. After all, he did a lot and philandered with Miraila when she is mourning for her lost children.

ML - Cedric - Duke of Evron, Son of Pervious duke of Evron and Former Emperor's firstborn - over a legal marriage. He didn't involve much in last timeline's throne war and regretted it later. This time he is entering the stage much sooner and has the Villainess Kingmaker, MC, with him.

As a direct bloodline of late emperor and a child through formal marriage, his claim to throne more legit than Lawrence but little lower than his uncle, Roygar, as he is the direct son of late emperor.

The plot is good, Characters were level headed peoples and supporting roles didn't create much noise. Its translations are Okay and Manhwa is cool too - If you like, "Inevitable Evil" characters, then this novel is for you. <<less

I was up for a though read, this is so long and its all about politics and schemes, but still it was hard for me to finish it. Idk if I got s*upidier the longer I read or the translation was a bit messy but I got a bit lost somewhere in the middle, still it was pretty good, the main CP was nice just dont expect fluff cuz there is bearly some at the very end, but is logical because of the FL character setup, ML is some hardcore... more>> masochist with a soft heart but still has some BDE.

over all it was good, the story has no loops, tho I would have love some more development in the villan side (he wasnt really smart). <<less

It actually started real good. But maybe it was too long? I know it has an amazing plot and FL was such a smart person being able to really think of a good idea instead of the usual cliche ones we see most of the time. But I guess the story got dragged? By 220+ chapters, I'm mostly skimming it and jumped by the end when I felt like it was going on and on (I just wanted to see how it ended). Skipped the SS too because what more... more>> do you need for me to know? Anyway, amazingly written plot and character but it got dragged too long for me.

If someone in the future can put a spoiler about Lawrence so I know how he ended, that would be great.

Emperor- was in a coma/paralized. His most trusted servant (his butler??i forgot what's it called) is a returner. So he helped FL when he realized it and tried to poison emperor bit by bit and he confessed in the end (but the emperor already cannot move)

Empress-I dunno too but I guess she's living happily although she was the reason FL' baby almost got assassinated. Her trusted maid she sent to FL turned out to be the traitor.

FL/ML/baby- HEA I guess. They became emperor/empress in main story (dunno on how they are at SS)

East Asian political spectacle on display: The best politics is to elect a "good man" to be the emperor through the black-box operation of a small group of people, regardless of whether or not he has the common sense and will to run the country. That way we don't have to put up with the pain of voting and the hassle of marching in the streets, and just lie at home waiting for the great government to take over.
