At eighteen years old, Lin Qingyu was married as part of a Chong Xi into the Nan’an Hou Mansion, becoming the ill Lu Wancheng’s male wife.

On the eve of their wedding, Young Master Hou lay lazily on the bed and said, “Beauty, to be honest, I really don’t want to engage in domestic struggles. I just want to drift along, eat and wait to die. I want to be a Salted Fish.”

A year later, Young Master Hou became gravely ill. He took Lin Qingyu’s hand and sighed, “Wife, I’m going to die, but I think I can continue to transmigrate. In order for you to properly recognize me in the future, let us set a secret code.”

After the death of Young Master Hou, Lin Qingyu was prepared to stay a widow all his life.
Lin Qingyu would rather die than remarry.

Unexpectedly, after only 1/2 a year, …xoxo… actually came to propose marriage & said “If odd, change; if even, remain the same?”
LQ: “…I will marry you.”

After two years …

Lin Qingyu knew that although his husband was a bag of lazybones, no one was his equal

I belong to the party who got immediately hooked up by the initial summary of the novel and tried to wait for the novel to be completely translated to binge read but in the end was unable to hold back and scrolled through mtl

A sweet, distressing, warm chemistry with okay okay plot with no loopholes, I loved it as it was more romance based than plot based. And the transmigrated ML acted and spoke like that of the ancient time, he was mature 18 year old and didn't run... more>> around ooc and summoning rain and storms to aggressively change the plot. <<less

This was a rollercoaster ride. 5/5.

My friend recommended me this story, and he said it was good ++ comedy. Disclaimer, I really don't like angst, my heart couldn't take it. So when he recommended it, a few months later, I decided to jump into it.

MC and ML aren't a saint characters, they plot and schemes together, they are a powerful and top tier couple. It has balance romance, angst, and everything you need to balance.

At first, I was intrigued++shocked, when the pov is from our MC, since a lot of... more>> transmigration danmei will have the pov on the one that transmigrates. It's rare to read a novel from another pov, and that's what makes it special it my heart.

Call me dramatic, but I cried everytime ML dies, and I couldn't even stop reading..

I love MC so much. Like, if people bothers him? No worries, he just poison them. If people bothers his husband? No worries ah, he just poison them. If people try to stick their nose in his business? No worries laaa, he just poison them! <<less

I read this novel because of a recommendation. I didn't even read the synopsis; I only scanned through tags, and the only thing I regret right now is that I didn't read it sooner. It is well-written, the plot is amazing, and the characters are so good. I especially love MC, the cold beauty with a bad temperament and even worse intentions. To be honest, at first he really scared me; he acted like a villain, but at some point in the story, I joined the ML camp and started... more>> thinking that when MC did bad things, he looked even more beautiful. I don't think that MC is a bad person; he only wanted to study his poisons, but some people just kept bothering him and kindly delivered themselves to be the subject of MC's experiments. And ML is a lovely salted fish whose dream is to do nothing, eat well, and sleep well, but when needed, he can be a truly capable person. He is smart but lazy. I adore the MC and ML interactions; they went from bickering strangers to each other's confidants and finally fell in love.

I will try not to write anything about the plot; spoiling this beautiful work would be a crime. In terms of plot and writing, this novel is brilliant. There are some lovely, funny, and sad moments. But most of the time, I was waiting for another shoe to drop. This is one of these kinds of stories: when you know that something bad will happen, you also know that everything in the end will be alright, but you are still distressed. Just because the protagonists are in difficult situations and are hurting. Their emotions are described so vividly that you, too, get immersed. I think It shows how well this novel is written.

The style of storytelling is good. The flow is perfect—not too fast nor too slow. The romance might seem a little bit slow, but the interactions between MC and ML are so good that it doesn't matter if they are enemies, just friends, or lovers; it is simply entertaining in either way. Since these two have truly different characters and ambitions (in the case of ML, it can hardly be called ambition), it seems that they have nothing in common, and it is impossible for them to fall in love, but of course they will since this is BL. The relationship's development is very believable; you won't doubt why or how they fell in love. You can see how, step by step, gradually their feelings are changing. Apart from that, there are so many intrigues and plot twists that you can't get bored. Sometimes there are some leisurely chapters about everyday life, but they are scarce. I wouldn't say that this book is too angsty; there is a lot of drama and sad moments, but not too much. It is a perfectly balanced plot that will make you sometimes sad and sometimes happy, but you will never regret reading it. <<less

Hidden Gem!

I avoided this one for a long time because the summary was so terrible, but I am so glad I finally gave it a chance. This is an absolutely lovely, charming, hilarious story, and it's so well-written and paced! The only issue is the editing, which it sorely needs--there are a ton of typos and misspellings. But it's still absolutely worth reading!!

I don't see where the hype is coming from. I don't understand, cause by no means I'm gonna stand a character who is evil and cruel when it's not even needed.

Spoiler

The Crown Prince only laid his eyes on him but he didn't really harm him yet he's hell bent on his life. Okay, I understand, but the way he used Shen Huaishi is way too much. Also, was there any difference between him and Xi Rong? At least Xiao Jie was innocent, he knew early on that Xiao Jie isn't fit for this position and his heart was so pure yet your favorite MC ruined his life. When Xi Rong pointed out his crimes and told him about retribution, I really hoped he would get his karma.

[collapse]

Some people are forced to be evil, and some are born evil. If it was the first, if he had suffered to the point of being evil and cruel, I'd at least understand him a bit. I personally feel like the original book plot was more interesting than this.

Don't attack me, people have different opinions. Wasted my time. Kbye <<less

And only this time I got ML lazy to the bones, even for 21+ activities. But hey, who doesn't love our Salted Fish, beloved ML?.

Actually, the plot of this story itself is not too complicated.

The real reason why this story has such a high rating is because the plot is very smooth and addicting.

I love how MC and ML in this story have a very sweet relationship, and I also love how this doesn't necessarily make the two of them look like a s*upid couple.

In fact both of them are very smart, MC himself is a really vengeful person, while ML can be said to be a catalyst that directs MC so that his... more>> nature doesn't go out of control blindly.

Spoiler

I also like how the author straightens out the bad traits of original MC (the actual MC in the novel where ML transmigrated) where previously he always forgave original ML (the main villain in the first arc, the crown prince) so easily even though the crown prince had indirectly killed his entire family.

characters:

mc: lin qingyu

ml: jiang xing (also known as lu wancheng, gu fuzhou, xiao li)

summary:

MC was studying to become an imperial physician but was forced into becoming the male wife of a cripple (ml), effectively crushing his dreams. he vowed to take revenge on everyone responsible, starting with the ml's family. unexpectedly, ML offers to help him and they work together to weed out his stepmother and half siblings who were trying to cause trouble.

Spoiler

MC quickly takes control over the family's resources and plants his own people inside. soon the family falls from grace; the half brother dies, half sister cast away, and the stepmother goes insane. ML dies from his illness, MC is widowed and left with his riches.

unbeknowst to MC at the time, ML is a transmigrator who was given a second chance at life after he died in his original world. ML transmigrates into the body of a general and they reunite. ML explains the phenomenon as a "transfer of souls" and lets MC in on the details of the novel he transmigrated into. together, they work to bring down the crown prince and the emperor who are both after mc's body. in order to avoid being turned into a concubine, MC marries ML for the second time. MC falls in love and they confirm their feelings for each other. using the knowledge they have of the novel, they gather key allies and uses the crown prince's shadow guard against him to bring him down. once the emperor dies and the crown prince disposed, they install a puppet emperor and MC takes control over the court. but the puppet emperor's reign is short lived and he is disposed for his close relationship with a scheming eunuch who allied himself with a hostile foreign country. MC installs another prince who is the empress's biological son.

thoughts:

10000/10 I enjoyed this story so much more than I thought I would. love the main characters love the side characters love the antagonists I just love everything

Spoiler

honestly the political intrigue was SOLID like it had a bit of dog blood face slapping moments but overall it was engaging and easy to follow. and I love the story snowballed into catastrophic proportions like lin qingyu went from scheming against a bunch of annoying in laws to scheming against the crown prince to scheming against TWO emperors before finally installing his own husband as the emperor while taking control over both the court and the military. bro went from 0 to 100 all because hes knows how to keep a grudge and I gotta respect that

honestly I LOVED lin qingyu as a character. wasnt expecting the MC to be a big scheming villain when I started it but loved it. a classical ethereal beauty poisoning his enemies into submission is DELICIOUS. also I especially love the part where he lead an insurgence against xiao jie and xi rong, physically trapping everyone inside the court, demanding the empror to step down and then straight up told his eunuch that hes gonna kill him lmaoo. hes literally got the empress dowager around his finger and the entire military at his beck and call despite being "just a doctor" hes such a bad bit*h I love it.

also im losing my mind at how outsiders would think of their relationship like everyone knows lin qinyu went thru 2 dead husbands before climbing the emperors bed and making himself empress like if thats not the most c*ntiest thing idk what is. bro is the ultimate femme fatale hes capable of causing the downfall of the nation he puts daji to SHAME!!!

anyways, jiang xing and lin qingyu invented love like the number of times this novel had me swooning is insane. also I love how the author kept reminding us that lin qinyu is a GREAT BEAUTY the MOST BEAUTIFUL PERSON IN EXISTANCE as if we could forget

honorary mention to xiao cheng aka the evil crown prince hes such an as*hole but I kinda dig his character. he was a pretty good antagonist and rivalled lin qingyu's smarts so their back and forth was fun to watch. especially loved the unravelling of his relationship w shen huaishi. kinda wish we had a scene of the assassination because I just know it wouldve been so fking good. friends to unrequited lovers to f*ckbuddies to one sided enemies whats not to love!!!!!! AND I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I SAW THAT HE LIVED I didnt expect shen huaishi would use the fake death pill on him omgg you soft hearted cutie

but I lowkey dig the og storyline with xiao cheng and shen huaishi. 1000% be the type of tr*shy wife chasing crematorium novel I would read and enjoy the f*ck out of.

lowkey sad for xiao jie aka the idiot emperor who only held his seat for like a year lmao. im thinking his relationship with with xi rong was the romantic/suggestive kind so its sad how it ended like that. imagine seeing your most precious person beheaded in front of you like yikes. I think it was meant to be a cathertic moment for the readers since xi rong is a bastard through and through but it was a bit upsetting to me. either way, xiao jie got a dose of ancient versed and all is good (haha not)

anways rip to all the gay couples in this novel except for jiang xing and lin qingyu. its tough being a cutsleeve out there

supportive empress dowager is the cutest thing actually :') honestly thought she wasnt gonna make it out alive since shes the one who decreed qingyu's marriage with lu wancheng in the first place

the modern extras are so unserious I loved it. but rip to shen huaishi who had to be separated from his toxic malewife for seven years lmao

also I kept thinking if its possible that jiang xing's og body was xiao li but he transmigrated to modern day as a baby (so he didnt know he transmigrated) and now hes transmigrating BACK to his og body?? like theres gotta be an explanation why xiao li and jiang xing look the same right??

also just WHAT is up with the guoshi like is he a transmigrator as well??? he was sus from the very start and the story never explained what his whole deal was

fav scenes

ngl all of jiang xings death scenes were an instant fav looool *laughcry* his first death where hes out of his mind delirious but even in that state he was still subconsciously trying to comfort lin qinyu with his little white lies, and qinyu not understanding the affection he felt at the time yet hes willing to go above and beyond for symoblic gestures (wearing his wedding dress again??) because that was his husband's last wish. the second death didnt hit as hard BUT the lead up to it was more painful because they were aware of their feelings and had much more to lose this time around. lin qinyu's offering his body the night before his departure because he needed the reassurance that his general would come back... and the poem at the end was beautiful :' (

also their first time in a dream was really tender and kinda sad :' (qingyu really thought this was the last time he would ever see his beloved and the weight of that realization once he woke up just broke me

"PRIME MINISTER GEGE" sobbb this is so cute

The title don't sound promising but istg the plot is extremely promising. Did not regret reading this out of pure curiousity due to the weird title hahaha. I LOVE LOVE the ML so much. Sooooooooo devoted and doting and smart. I also liked how the MC is not some kind of pure hearted and kind person that would just simply forgive someone even if they did something wrong. It was so refreshing to read and cunning and morally grey character :> I love how he cared more about his loved... more>> ones much more than the other random humans and don't mind 'hurting' them to protect his loved ones!

Not much misunderstandings and everything felt very out in the open. Communication was also there so the story really didn't feel suffocating to me. Great read and highly recommended :)) <<less

A really kiss worthy Slow Romance novel. Chef's kiss 😘

If you want to read a really good slow Romance with proper development that is consensual and have healthy green flag ML with little bit of angsty, drama and interesting well written Characters.... come here.

Warning!!! MC is a bad bit*h villain that is petty and hold grudge even for the smallest thing, so some of you might not like him but for me, I like how he was not white washed like other Villain MCs that are Good. Though... more>> a lot of his actions have proper reason behind it but he's definitely still a Villain to Core.

ML is my favorite here. He's such an interesting and entertaining Character making me smile and look forward to him trying to be salted fish. I find his personality very charming despite him just being salted fish. Also love how he feel very relatable and give casual common people vibe. Plus He's such a decent Green Flag ML and very supportive to MC.

Love the communication between MC and ML.

This also has some really heartbreaking moments like ML's death. Even though I knew he would die and return back to MC in another body and I was prepared for it, I still f*cking cried..... so prepare some tissues too.
Spoiler

ML's 1st death kind of had deep impact on me. I was very prepared for his death but then the author had to make moment so heartbreaking. If he had just died I would have been ok but before he died, MC wore the wedding dress as ML always wanted to see it but then MC finds that ML lost his vision and couldn't see him....... I am not crying. ML apology for not being able to keep living on and wanting to rest...... who the hell cutting onion!!!

Seriously ML first death had bigger impact on me than his second death but his second death was also so heart wrenching, Mixed with MC's reaction.

[collapse]

As for OG gong and OG shou of the novel. I hate the OG gong but I can't bring myself to hate OG shou. Well, I do hate his weak Character but he...... I just feel so pity for him and just want him to have better.
Spoiler

It's a bit pity that the OG gong didn't die..... but well, even despite what he gone through OG shou still want to save OG gong and be with him, what can I say?? You better treat him better than ever you bastard OG gong.

[collapse]

Overall this was a entertaining with realy good Romance novel for me. Plus the extra in modern world just made it even better.

A fantastical novel paired with an excellent translator!

I'll be the first to admit that rebirth / reincarnation (or body-hopping) are definitely my biases.

This story has all of the things I love:

    • No info-dumps; limited 3rd person perspective
    • Mysteries that maintain a wonderful level of tension throughout the story all the way to the end
    • Subtlety in the writing; it doesn't lack descriptions, but also doesn't overly state the obvious or prescribe to the reader every little reaction; many things rely on inference and reading between the lines
    • Layered in the angst/drama; the characters are not melodramatically crying every other chapter, but you feel their deep pain and it's delicious in the contrast
    • Dimensional characters, supporting characters, and villains (except in the first part, the first part cannon-fodder villains are idiots but oh well)
    • Good balance of fluff, humor, and seriousness; serious moments are balanced with the story not taking itself too seriously and even things that can break the 4th wall a bit (modern slangs, euphemisms, etc.)
    • Wonderful relationship development between the main leads; main leads are definitely OP but written in weirdly relateable ways, especially the "modern day" transmigrator ML who too much like "boy-next-door/lazy-ass" even if he's a genius
Spoiler

I'm also honestly surprised that the empress dowager did not turn out to be a villain (very happy about that)

Highly recommend, excellent wholesome read.

This was so much better than anything I had expected it to be! A smart, cunning and vicious MC, a gentle, not s*upid, and not a red flag ML (gosh he is so good), a villain who is actually intelligent and poses as a real obstacle in the life of the main characters and political intrigues. And so much more. I can't tell you how much of a pleasant surprise it was.

MC

From reading the synopsis, I expected him to be gentle and kind (cause I had been reading other novels... more>> with MCs like that). But he was different and not in a bad way. Unlike other OP MCs, he isn't someone who can do anything he wants and shine and slap everyone's faces. He has limits. He wants to kill people who have caused him even the slightest annoyance. (And he actually does). He is so petty. He is a doctor who's proficient in poison. He just wants to be a doctor and be treated greatly by the people around him. He wants fame and glory. And after the ML, he just wants to live a nice and peaceful life with him. He deserves it so much after all he had to go through in the story. Now on the beautiful aspect of him. In other novels, I feel like the MC being godly beautiful is just like extra. It makes things easier for them and causes the Mls to in love with them more quickly. But in this novel, because the author of the world the MC lives in has canonically deemed him as the most beautiful, it has only brought him more and more troubles.

Spoiler

Like the crown prince using him as a substitute cause he looks like the crown prince's white moonlight, the emperor (the old man) wanting him to join his harem, etc.

[collapse]

But he is not gonna ruin his face and cause himself pain just because some disgusting people like his face. He will just kill them. (Which he did).

ML

He is so good. I feel so bad for him. He was just a teenager who had transmigrated into this ancient world. He just wants to be a salted fish. Yet he is forced to become a sickly young master who is in constant pain all time and on the verge of death, A general who has the lives of thousands of soldiers on his shoulders and an emperor who is the ruler and the son of heaven. I support him being a salted fish. He is such a sweetheart. If his mother hadn't forced him to learn all the things he would have never survived in the world.

Couple

This was such a slow burn. Like it was in the second marriage that they started dating and considered each other as proper romantic interests. And it was good. Watching how the MC slowly started to involve the ML in his plans and considered him his confidant who knew him most deeply and saw how cruel and vicious he is and fell in love with that part of him. They didn't kiss until like 70 chapters. There was also an s*x scene but it was kinda brief. I love how the MC was the one who initiated it. You don't really find that all that often. These are such couple goals.

The villain

The main villain for most of the story is the crown prince. He is the protagonist of the world along with his shadow guard being the other protagonist. Their love story is that of a substitute and white moonlight one. The crown prince was really difficult to defeat. He was in a position of much more power than the protagonists. He wanted the MC to himself because the MC looked like his white moonlight. It was also how The MC died in the original book. He ate the poison he prepared for the crown prince himself after his mu*der attempt was stopped by the shadow guard.

The deaths

I was don't the verge of tears both times the ML was going to die. Although I know it still didn't stop it from being so sad.

And I am really tired from writing this. I will update it again after the main story is finished. And maybe once more after the extras are completely translated. <<less

I love the angst. No, it's not a devastating angst but as you know, the ML dies twice and I love seeing the MC's reaction to ML's death. He was unfazed at first but without knowing, he suddenly felt heartbroken that ML isn't by his side anymore. And, ML is a super greenflag 😣❤️ They are both greenflag to each other and both have blackening tendencies and they both love it LOL. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! MTL IS READABLE ❤️❤️

When I started reading this novel, I didn't have high expectations and was just looking for a historical BL to pass the time. However, this story ended up becoming one of my favorites.

The relationship between the MC and ML is adorable; I love the dynamic they have. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop until I finished the story. 5/5, and I'll definitely reread it multiple times.

The other reviews have pretty much said it all. The summary is kind of bad, but the story is good. The translation is also smooth and pleasant to read (but could use some proofreading since there's a lot of typos).

This story is for people who like the combo of transmigration+revenge plots+MCs and MLs who power up+devoted power couple+morally grey MCs.

The MC is very morally grey and actually not a good person. His revenges are slightly disproportionate to what people have actually done to him, but it's still fun to read... more>> about if you like main characters who are not perfectly righteous.

The ML falling for the MC precisely because he's vindictive and petty and sinister is fun to read about.

The chemistry is great and the romantic development is one of the best I've read in a danmei. It goes from the MC and ML both claiming to be straight and not interested in men at all*, to slowly finding common ground and mutually respect, aligning their interests and struggling with their growing feelings for each other. No major misunderstandings, the MC and ML's reasons for being slow with confessing (both to themselves and their love interest) makes sense in context, especially considering their age and the weird circumstances that constantly pull them together.

*they're both inexperienced teenagers who've never even been close to the opporsite s*x, so them both claiming to be straight seem more like an instinctive declaration due to their first, forced marriage. Neither ever expresses any real interest in women - the MC is pretty much frigid except when it comes to the ML.

The two deaths of the ML were well-written and quite emotional, especially the first one, where the MC has time to grieve and has no idea if the ML will truly come back.

Weak points: Not many, except a few minor points:

Extras: Skip unless you really want to have a very long, uneventful slice-of-life story of the MC and ML in ther modern world, but without any real plot and with the MC being stripped of all his evil sides (the traits that made him a fun character). He's basically a cat without claws. The first couple of extras about their married life in Dayu were okay, but also not super interesting.

Xiao Cheng/crown prince side-plot: There's short scene in the final chapters that heavily imply that

Spoiler

the crown prince faked his death and still pursues Shen Huaishi. Which would have been both interesting and in line with the plot of the original novel. It felt really underwhelming that he just died off-screen despite being one of the big antagonists. But this scene never went anywhere and nothing was ever mentioned again.

[collapse]

Book plot: It was weird and not very believable how

Spoiler

the MC found out his world was originally from a novel - aka not real, and he just never reacted to it. It also wasn't very believable that the ML had no reaction to having transmigrated into a book - there was never any moral dilemma about how he perceived the people in the book, and it was weird how he just made his peace with dying in his first life without any real reaction to his own transmigration and previous death in the real world. The was something that hinted a system (normal to transmigration novel) since he told the MC that a 'she' had told him that the MC was the most beautiful person in the whole world of Dayu, but then this never got mentioned again.

[collapse]

It was however refreshing to read a transmigration novel for once were the transmigrator was the ML, not the MC, and the fact that the ML had transmigrated, while very obvious to the reader, only gradually got revealed to the MC.

All in all a good story, but don't read it if you dislike unapologetically evil MCs and couples that find doing bad things together a good couple's activity. <<less

Very over rated...

The concept in itself is great but the execution is terrible.

Plot does not seem to hold very well, there is a lot of stalling, the 2nd reincarnation is great the 3rd is so obviously shoe horned in it's painful.

... more>> I like ML's chara development to some extent but then MC is just insufferable. All side couples that were interesting were done with very swiftly leaving us with only the main couple which is fine I suppose but so boring.

Court drama was decent to a point, I wish the 3rd reincarnation took place in a different way coz it made last 30 chapters a complete pain to go through.

this was a surprisingly fun read! Though the glaring spoilers in the summary take away from the excitement of certain scenes, it's still possible to go with the flow and enjoy things as they come. The novel reads really easily: cg's translation is solid as always, and the plot moves pretty quickly. I got some complaints, of course, but this isn't the type of novel that you approach with the expectation of beautiful writing heavy with figures of speech or thought-provoking lines. It's all pretty straightforward, and it's obvious that... more>> the author wanted the readers to pay attention to the budding romance of the main cp above all. So, if that part is what you end up enjoying the most, not unlike me, you're bound to overlook its other flaws and just appreciate the story for what it does do well.

now, let me get this out of the way first: the plot isn't all that impressive overall. There's some petty revenge and face-slapping (low-profile as well as high-profile), antagonists that can't and don't do much more than flaunt their position and taunt their underlings, and mean comments about the mc's 'wife' status that got old pretty fast. Nothing really gets better with time, it's just that the focus of the plot shifts to different things. It helps that the MC is pretty level-headed and confident, so the reader isn't left feeling frustrated whenever he's being targeted. He's more than ready to retaliate at any and every offense, and his (as well as the ml's) awareness and acknowledgement of his vicious pettiness is a fun running gag: they don't make excuses and they aren't evil people in any sense, but they do enjoy giving it back to people who mistreat the MC.

by the time I got to the last chapter, i'd already forgotten that we started out with an arranged marriage and an MC who was feeling mu*derous about it. The main cp develops slowly and organically (that is, outside of their very much inorganic marriages) and the fact that they got forced in a relationship at first becomes irrelevant really early on. The MC has a clear idea of what he wants to do and who he wants to be, and the ML does Not fit in with those plans– that is, until it's revealed that he's just a sweet guy who also has zero plans of making it hard for the MC, and is instead willing to support him in all his endeavors. They go from partners in crime to friends to lovers and it all feels so natural that the rest of the plot just fades away and you're fully invested in the developing romance between the two. There's not much drama to it, but the outside factors (such as rebirth/transmigration putting them in awkward positions) do make it harder for them to just go at their own pace and not the one set by the circumstances, but their communication throughout it all makes for a pleasurable read without misunderstandings that would be unnecessary and maybe even ooc when it comes to these two.

all things considered, i'd say mtsf is an easily palatable, enjoyable novel if you're not looking for too much drama but are looking for a sweet (and surprisingly unproblematic) love story. Actually, this could even make for a good soft launch into the historical novels genre if you're coming from modern or school setting novels, especially considering the 20-ish extra where we see the characters exploring their relationship in a modern setting, without the roles they were placed in in the ancient times. You can definitely get a chuckle or two out of those, but the main story also ends at a good point if that's where you choose to finish reading. Happy reading yall! <<less

One of the few stories where I'm sure if it was told from the POV of anyone else, MC & ML would totally be the scheming behind-the-scenes-&-upfront villains instead~

Yet because of the narrative, you get both their unique POVs as people who just want to prioritize at first their lifes and later on each other once they fall in mutual love, but aren't afraid to be petty and screw over their enemies

Spoiler

sometimes to some pretty cruel retribution like forcing the person/s they love to commit s------ in front of them or manipulating a ex to mu*der his former lover

[collapse]

Admittedly I cried buckets each time ML died, even though we're spoiled from the summary about his deaths - the way MC reacts to each death really pulls at one's heartstrings, especially after he falls in love with ML, and ML's desperation each time to reunite with MC asap... <<less

Ome of the good ones, really nice. I really love the MC and ML, especially the ML. When he died, I cried (both times). The MC is not a good person, but he won't randomly hurt people. He only hurt those who harm him or his husband. He's a typical cold beauty and the ML is a lazybones, but he has sense of responsibility.
