At this time of reading it the story just feels like a recounting of something that happened once somewhere to somebody unimportant.

The MC is a c*cky sh*t and that seems to be the only side to his personality I have seen so far, nothing humanising about him.

All the events he goes through are so scripted that there is not a single chapter where I feel there is any tension or suspense at all, the same things happen repeatedly, they always get resolved cleanly with almost nothing worth mentioning about them... more>> and then he moves along to trampling another group and gaining more "treasures" he spends like pennies in a candystore.

I hope the quality improves fast in the upcoming chapters because quite frankly I only read this out of a sense of obligation to the group going through the efforts of translating it to a high standard. I am about ready to drop this title at any minute if it feels like I am reading something that has a plot which could have been devised by using a random event generator with a limited number of result options.

The author goes through the efforts of creating 3 branches of cultivation, but spends way too much of their time writing about the powers and abilities of those branches and how they grant special titles to people. When you first think you will see a story with a varied cast your are told that people must cultivate all 3 at the same time, as if there isn't already so little time for people to cultivate just 1 of them as seen in most other wuxia & xianxia / xuanhuan. It's all a confusing mess where unless you have been taking written notes, you are unlikely to be able to read this story casually picking it up during your free time. You would only be able to keep up if you were to binge read to its current chapter and follow it religiously and that's not even accounting for any time the author spontaneously changes something and expects you to know what they refer to.

It is certainly a long running title, but this is one of those cases where a long-running title may have been popular, but it doesn't mean its quality is necessarily better than crap. <<less

Interesting premise. It's basically like a level 100 character who starts over on a new account but keeps all of his techniques and knows where all his treasures are hidden.

I like the MC. Like with most xianxia MCs he's arrogant, but calculating. He doesn't just go on a testosterone-induced rampage every time someone provokes him. He always has a plan, and keeps his cool. I like this type of MC the most.

My main criticism for this novel is the way it's written. I don't know if it's the author or... more>> the translator or a combination of both, but every description is extremely confusing and never paints a clear image of whatever it is that's being described. The cultivation system is also incredibly confusing and it took me more than 100 chapters to get the gist of it, but I'm still not sure I fully understand it.

Also, the descriptions get recycled over. And over. And over. And over. Something that was explained 100 chapters ago will get explained with a carbon copy description whenever it's mentioned, and there are so many redundant descriptions which are common sense. Some entire chapters could be condensed into 2 or 3 paragraphs.

In short: interesting MC, interesting story, sloppy writing. Not enough to reach the apex!

EDIT: Okay having caught up with the translations I'm probably going to drop this novel. No other reason than the writing quality is AWFUL. I said it earlier, but now that I'm waiting for releases I realise that reading this feels more like work than entertainment. The descriptions are literally ridiculous. Every item or ability can "destroy the 9 worlds" or "suppress all things" as the author so aptly puts it. And every time he describes the size of something he just says it covers the sky or it's as big as a galaxy. As for cities, they're all a billion miles in diameter. <<less

Love this series as the MC is rather interesting due to his breadth of life experiences making him a Wise Sage but also highly unpredicable character. He is OP but considering his backstory that makes perfect sense and doesn't feel forced as he prepared for his reincarnation extensively as opposed to it just happening to him.

All in all one of my favorite series at the moment

This is simply a very funny novel that doesn't take itself too seriously. Emperor's Domination takes the standard tropes of Xianxia, blows them out of proportion, and then makes fun of them. Great read!

Interesting premise... but fails overall. Inheritances are formidable physique/things are like cabbages. The cultivation stages appear complex but it is quite shallow at best. It burns a large portion of chapters into "cultivation" but in reality they are just fillers with hardly any value to the story at all.

Contradiction about his character is quite annoying. He calls everyone brats but when an old guy calls him older brother he feels uncomfortable, even though he has lived for millions of years. His first follower changed character right from the get go,... more>> protector Mo is forgotten, everybody either is too lazy to do anything or is a sheep that accepts everything with very little proof EVEN if they just met but ill let this pass.

On the up side, there are some enemies who are smarter than your usual villains that they back off, but then again every male with potential seems to be his enemy and he has yet to recruit a male "swordmaid" which is quite annoying.

Cliches are expected and the starting phase have several problems, but the novel still has some potential mainly because of its premise and world. <<less

Update on April 24, 2017, spoilers up to 2150 or so:

Spoiler

The current arc suffers from a significant drop in quality compared to previous chapters. Part of what made the story so interesting was how important the vast history was to the story, and what part Li Qi Ye had in it. Tragedies, massacres, timeless characters and legends--one might keep reading simply to know more about the world than the actual plot. They gave the story life and variety. Some of the most memorable moments of the story for me are when Li Qi Ye sat in quiet repose in the Giant Bamboo grove in Stone Medicine world, or when he sparred wits with the captured Xue Shou Mo Tu, or when he stood regretfully in front of he grave of Jian Wenxin, comparing his own way of living with hers. One of the several reasons why the inarguably best arc (the last arc in the Mortal Emperor World before Li Qi Ye leaves to the Tenth World) is so good is because history plays such a huge role in it, such as the Black Dragon King and the Ancient Ming.

In the most recent arc a lot of the history is obscured because, well, Li Qi Ye has never been to the 3 Immortal Worlds before, so he doesn't have the same footprint there as he did in the Ten Worlds. Obviously this is fine in theory, but the author has to include new plot threads in order to keep the story as compelling as it was in the Ten Worlds. There are a few tantalizing bits of bait--Li Qi Ye's new cultivation system, the Jiao Heng Company, the existence of true immortals, and the relevance of the head of the Immortal Demon Grotto and his Eternal Sorrow Clan (or whatever more poignant translation there may be), but as of yet they're simply too peripheral to drive the story.

In fact, Li Qi Ye clearly has stuff to do in this arc, but it's difficult to keep track of the narrative when so much time is spent on the politics of the scrubs that Li Qi Ye cleans up in his free time.

I'm going to leave the rating at a 5 just because it has such a great amount of high quality story, and I'm also going to keep reading because there's still a lot of compelling plot points and loose ends which could revitalize the novel in the future.

Bluntly, this xianxia stands a head and shoulders above all others I've read in terms of quality. It's not about the characters, or the story-lines or the dipsh*t whack-a-mole that's practically endemic to the genre, it's the deep universe, style of expression, and cultivation system.

There's a lot more going on in Emporer's Domination that it ever tells you, and the constant stream of mysteries and symbols really crafts a complex and deep atmosphere. In most xianxia novels, power scales more or less linearly. Mighty characters who bring dramatic battles featuring shockwaves and shattered landscapes are doomed to be demoted to absolute scrubs in 100 chapters max. In comparison, ED reads more like an unfiltered feed of the actual world.
The grand battles feel grand, the massive scale feels symbolic rather than absurd, the "geniuses" are actually given context, instead of you being spoon-fed "genius" (that is, before you're told to spit that spoonful back out since they're actually just tr*sh in the next neighborhood over). The end of an arc never gives you the feeling that an area is a complete backwater out of mysteries or resources useful to the MC--changes in setting instead feel like new adventures to new, interesting locations.

Li Qi Ye's sighs and reminiscences pepper the story, and his remembrances of ancient times, lost battles and forgotten glory set the tone of Emporer's Domination: deep!

Most xianxia feel as if the story is set at the base of a shrouded mountain. You can't see it clearly, you're not sure how high, but you know it's there. The reason for this is that the author needs to buy themself time and space to design more of the moutain as the main character shits on whats been revealed in record speed. ED doesn't mind showing you the whole mountain from the start because A) Li Qi Ye doesn't mind taking his time, and B) it doesn't give you the illusion that Li Qi Ye won't sh*t on the mountain from top to bottom.

However, don't expect complex, frequently appearing side characters or developed personal relationships. The characters do have decent variation (with the exception of the stream of moronically arrogant "geniuses"), but the the story is based around Li Qi Ye as a vessel for exploring the world.

I recommend it fully and completely, but don't expect the constant stream of adrenaline you get from a lot of xianxia.

Initial Review, no spoilers.

Spoiler

So far, no objections. This isn't really as much a story of an immortal hero as the resurrection of baleful god laying the foundations for his revenge. The translations seemed to be lacking in quality compared to some other novels, but this can be forgiven because of what seems like a much more sophisticated and unique structure and history, and style of narrative. It makes for both a more difficult read and more immersive, rich experience.

The unhinged despotic attitude can cause some emotional pain when he lets out some grandiose line while in a 13 year old body, as if unaware that his claim to be totally invincible will be met with ridicule. This begs the question: Why doesn't he know they'll get riled up, and if so, why not just kill them in the first place?

Aside from that, his actions reflect his vast background. After living some incalculable number of years, he's seen enough lives, sects, and other institutions pass him by that he has little regard for the life and health of these things. It's also nice to see that Li Qi Ye isn't nearly as greedy as other reincarnated xianxia protagonists, which have this bizarre tendency to keep all the best stuff to themselves even when they have 100+ unique artifacts which they can't possibly use 99% of the time (see: Nie Li, A Tale of Demons and Gods).

In any case, I'm looking forward to continued translations and hoping that the serial release doesn't screw up the foundations being laid now..

I'll be honest, this isn't for everyone. I think the people who enjoy this are people who are fed up of b*tch ass MCs and want a confident badass MC. It's really hard to predict the story. Well other than knowing that if you mess with the MC you'll end up dead 4 out of 5. You might escape one time but you'll definitely die another arc. I'll admit that the characters other than the MC are a bit shallow, especially compared to the characters that the MC reminisce about.... more>> But hey there's over 2000 chapters and counting, so there's a chance that they might develop in the future. The cultivation is confusing as hell! But you get used to it. The enemies aren't enough to reach apex. (Read the story and you'll understand what that means.) I've yet to meet an enemy that's worthy of my respect, their just there to be hated. But I do enjoy their deaths. What I love the most is that the MC rarely kills in singles. If the starts killing with his own hands, he'll kill by the dozen. Also I don't think I've ever seen a smarter MC. His schemes are godly probably because he's been alive for millions of years. <<less

Story summary: MC was a village boy, his soul was trapped in a immortal crow, and lived for many millions of years, collecting knowledge. Story starts when he regains his human body and use the knowledge to become incredibly powerful.

This is one of my favorite stories, as it has quite a different tone from most other novels about cultivation, as first, even the strongest person isn't immortal, they live a few hundreds of thousands of years, but eventually die, and second, it isn't a typical weak to strong story, where... more>> the MC runs from an enemy, gets stronger, beats him, over and over, and everything is solved by pure strength.
The MC is incredibly smart, and uses all the knowledge he gained as an immortal being millions of years old to full efficiency, so even when he has basically no cultivation, he can still crush relatively strong people, and as his cultivation rises, he uses his intelligence and experience to manipulate enemies much stronger into dying and benefiting him.

And although the MC is incredibly arrogant, the story gives reason for that, and he also isn't blindly arrogant, often when he is overly arrogant, in future chapters it shows that arrogance was him goading someone into his manipulations. If someone provokes him, that person dies, if someone helps him, he rewards them 10 times over, if they are neutral to him, he is neutral to them.

Although the story has its defects, namely the overly repetition of how beautiful and awesome his followers are, confusing cultivation system, and a few others mentioned, they aren`t enough to make me even slightly dislike the story, as it is a refreshing change of pace from other stories.

Also, the story has good female characters. It`s a little slow to see it at first, as the story starts slowly, and you don`t get much about their perspective, but as the story goes along, you can notice their personalities and opinions, and how their view of the MC changes over time as they discover more about him. <<less

The story is a bit rushed and and explanations are lengthy, even of obvious things, but this novel is still incredibly refreshing because even though there are obnoxious and arrogant opponents, this MC way sicker than they are in that department. Ahh, so good.

It becomes predictable that he always got a hidden card because he knows where they're hidden, but MC has magnificently giant balls, which saves the novel.

Okay people will say this the MC is a know it all and is OP and so on. But one thing you have to keep in mind is that the MC has been a live for more than Millions of years, so yes he know a lot of secret and he know short cut to grow his power, because at the end of the day information is power, and no one can say other wise. Second a lot of people Underestimated because he has tr*sh like talent, which you should... more>> keep in mind that he trained people over his life who had tr*sh like talent to become the most powerful people in the world, so even though he has tr*sh talent does not make him week, if the master make all his disciples the strongest in the world, what make you say that the master is week. Last it is a slow start because the story need to lay its roots. <<less

Hmm, what most of people talk about the early chapter is right, I don't know if it was the translator or the author that made the prologue really confusing but the rest after you read it carefully it will make sense. The pace is quite fast but not too fast (i think the author just skip something but not entirely). I'm almost certain it was classical reincarnation xianxia just in diffrent view and world building. Gosh, im not good with review. Well read at your own discretions ^_^

It's like SOTR or TTNH only without hiding MC's abilities, wait he doesn't even have abilities yet but as an ordinary mortal he easily kills those high level cultivators, not just elementary punks. He has the most arrogant attitude you have ever seen and besides the no hiding thing, it's your old xianxia. Idiot A: Thrash blabla! 5min later Idiot A beheaded. Scenes have abrupt jumps between them but that is the least of your worries because even at chapter 28 the plot hasn't started, it gives the feeling there... more>> will be no plot besides tr*sh! and the speakers death.

Edit: I gave it another shot since everyone says how awesome it is later and it truly is....a bit better hah, besides the MC saying "not enough to reach the apex" x1000, cultivation is utterly boring so I skipped those quite long parts, also Immortal Emperor Min Ren was so awesome x1000... titles are so diverse, weird and s*upid you will not be clear what some stage of cultivation is... <<less

I have been reading the raws for years.

In this novel Li Qiye is almighty. No suspens, he always destroys his enemies whatever state he's in. The storyline spans millions of years. There are always people looking for trouble with the MC, underestimating him, trying to leverage their clan, ancestry, treasures etc against him. And I don't know how but it remains exhilarating to read how he's going to faceslap them even though, as a reader, you know the MC is peerless.

It's an endless repeat of this : MC get to... more>> some place, refuses to compromise with some arrogant kid, kills, is enemy with the kid's clan, destroys the clan in some creative way, its allies with other methods, their allies, all the strongest known ppl etc and is finally recognized for who he is.

However it's still a fun read: the best thing about this novel is the MC himself. He's a real mystery.

What is his quest, why is he moving forward why is he never stopping?

For me the main attractive points of this novel are :

- the MC life story, end goal, character, badassness, imagination, creativeness in destruction, depth of character etc

- the million ways with which the MC disposes of his enemies

- the many cultivation systems

- the constant face-slapping

What is less attractive:

- the author's writing style : basically each chapter is 2/3 made up of fillers, describing how surprised the extras are or how great and clever the MCs actions are, or how strong the MC's opponent really are. I mostly read the first few words of each paragraph before skipping the whole paragraph lol

- some characters I grew attached to disappeared while they could be used longer

I really enjoy reading Li Qiye's saga. My advice would be to read it by unit of 100 chapters as in my opinion it is equivalent to 10 regular chapters if you skip the fillers. <<less

The author wastes so much of the reader's time and should have trimmed all of the fluff out of the novel. As it is, it stinks of constant babbling just to meet word/chapter quotas. Like before every confrontation, there's predictably an entire chapter dedicated to shit-talking and knob-slobbering. The 'fight scenes', which can barely be called such, are absolutely pathetically bad. One-dimensional and forgettable characters and a plot built around face-slapping. How many times are you gonna tell us about how hot a woman is that you didn't even bother... more>> to describe outside of things like "peerless beauty." Kind of sad when the only description of a character is how "tempting she is" and how big her b**bs are and literally nothing else. The way the author makes the MC react to a woman cross-dressing, the blatant sexism, and the utter h*mophobia is just plain hateful for absolutely no reason. This author is just a plain bigot. It's really disgusting. <<less

I'm kind of compelled to write a quick review because of the others I read here. "It's all just him being called tr*sh and then shaming everyone..."

Yes. And it's a fantastic casual read. Incredibly satisfying. And his behavior is completely understandable.

An ancient, powerful being, teacher of every legendary character people talk about, one who has seen it all. Of course he's not bothered when an ant bares its teeth. Of course he has a solution for all the trouble. Of course he's "lucky" to come at the right time for... more>> the secret realms and knows the way. He's been there and done that.

This novel is like the One-Punch Man of Xianxia/Xuanhuan. We really see the effect of an eternity and immortality. The sacrifices, steeled resolve, the loved ones he lost.

It's not a masterpiece, it has flaws, but the novel is still pretty awesome! <<less

Treat this novel like snacks. It's good for instant gratification, but too much of it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Go back to it after some time and you'll enjoy it again for a while.
