This... was brutal. The author did not pull many punches with the gore and torture that the MC had to suffer through his many deaths. The psychological changes are also very realistic, you can really see the MC falling apart mentally within each instance and also as he goes through more instances. I am pretty annoyed by the fact that things are kept so mysterious. Knew that the ML would receive his memories but I can't believe the author didn't give us his perspective when he realized, just showed us... more>> his blackened behavior. Pretty regrettable too that the ML never gets his memories back, though in this case it might be good to keep his extreme yandere past tamped down. Beautifully painful story, not one that I would reread though. Might avoid if you already have mental health issues though bc I'm ngl, I think mine deteriorated just reading this. :)

The synopsis also doesn't really make sense. Think it's kinda just bait. Excellent translation though as always from White Sky. Great reading experience. <<less

It's actually 5 stars, but idk how to edit it, lol.

One of the best infinite flow novels out there, to me. I really felt the "horror" aspect too with the medical descriptions, which greatly surprized me in the good sense. That's cause nowadays I don't seem to find good writter horror danmei stories no matter where I look.

Gotta say, It was really refreshing. The personalities of the main characters amazed me, FINALLY A GOODY AND FUNNY ML (gong) THAT ISN'T TOTALLY OP! I was really getting sick of all the... more>> "MC is a poor defensless boy who gets saved every time". They are two manly couples of bosses!. Don't get me wrong, I actually prefer OP main characters from the start, that are geniuses and solve everything with cleverness. That's just the way I like my novels. So at first I was a bit hesistant to see them strugle. My heart hurt. Yet, It was so well done and written that I actually enjoyed it. The MC and ML felt real with their actions and emotions, especially as the novel progressed. The MC got funny too when angry in the instances so I loved it very much. And the ML is a total golden clever doggy.

The only thing I didn't really like was the ending. It felt a bit forced and like it didn't really end the story? Idk how to explain. It wasn't totally bad. Just, not the type of ending I expected or wanted. It felt a bit hollow and I would have also wanted to know what happened after that. Yet, I respect the authors choice. Here it says that there are 2 extras but I can't find them translated so maybe, things get clearer in those extras? Idk.

Overall, really good. I never skipped a chapter, and the arcs where all interesting and not boring. The logic to clear the instances was on point too, so it was a really fun read. The personalities of the MC and ML were really refreshing and comedic too, never seen such a duo in danmei so far. <<less

I really love this novel to the point where I bought the unreleased chapters from whitesky but the last arc is getting disappointing

Spoiler

ML seems to just go on a killing rampage and the MC accepts it bc that’s how much he loves the MC

[collapse]

This in any other novel would be okay and a pass since most novels are pretty unrealistic but since this book started out so strongly on emotional maturity and had set a standard so high so they were well rounded 3D characters, the change into the last arc is lacking (a LOT). I loved how human they were during basically all of the book: their thoughts, interactions with side characters, breaking 4th wall however it feels like a deflating balloon, where they’re just becoming 2D. <<less

Okay. So. I usually don't write reviews, because I am too lazy. But I just finished this novel and I can't fall asleep until I get this rant out of me...

This novel was great and I enjoyed it immensely, even if it got boring at times, I persevered and continued, because there were stuff I was looking forward to...

Spoiler

especially I was looking forward to ML remembering all the restarts and deaths, which the translator said will happen... And also the summary kind of implied it too... Honestly. I feel kind of cheated by the end and by the last arc which totally turned from horror story to school love story of h**ny teenagers. And then quick skip to the end that resolved almost nothing.

Why only let the MC suffer? What was all the point in describing cruel ways the MC died infront of ML, all the ways they spend time together, saving each other, loving each other... Only for ML to not remember it at all? It feels so... Depressing. So needless. Why give ML occasional flashes of those moments, but at the end, not having him remember at all???

[collapse]

Overall... Its great read, especially the first 100 chapters or so, the first 3-4 instances were great, but at some point I feel that the author just got lazy... She stopped trying to make side-characters interesting, not even giving them names. The instances also just turned into big mess that was all about killing every other characters to make for the 'grim' atmosphere. Seriously, if you are too lazy to write interesting characters, just make instances only about the two main characters and NPCs, no need to include other players.

There were many interesting characters that had potential in the first half of the story
Spoiler

especially the tomboy mom in second instance who wanted to drink wine with them

[collapse]
but author just passed the opportunity to make them more interesting...

Well. If you have no expectations going in and ignore that the summary has almost nothing to do with the actual story. I guess it is pretty good story. Certainly above average, but the end just completely spoiled it for me... <<less

This one is a very interesting novel! I look forward to coming back and finishing this once fully translated!

The concept is really well thought of and I like how it's both serious and comedic at the same time

Although I guess one thing that takes away my fear in this story is that MC always rebirths so I'm like —- whatever happens he'll live again anyway

BUT! Although the fear of MC dying is lessened, it still hurt how they described him when he dies like huhuhu it's okay MC, the pain... more>> will go away soon
Spoiler

especially in Temple of the 5 Organs arc, MC was so scared he didn't want to leave the elevator anymore

[collapse]

Andddd Im so curious to know what the deal is with ML, we all know something is on about him. Like I know he loves the MC a lot and won't hurt him but there's just this mystery about him that even in chapter 130, there's little clue about what the deal with him is lol
Spoiler

there was a clue that he already finished his last instance in the beginning (Rabbit/ Russian doll arc) and his wish or something should have been fulfilled. I think his wish should have something to do with accompanying MC from the beginning again but maybe it cost him his memories or something. Or maybe his wish is for the MC to have infinite chances in the worlds so that even if he dies a lot of times, he still has a chance to live or something. Anywayyy very curious about this ML cause I can't find the whole story's spoiler anywhere haha

[collapse]

EDIT (Re-read this 9 months later) : I still love the beginning arcs a lot!

I didn't like the last arc because I feel like it was dragging plus the ending of that arc was unsatisfying. Like the build up was so good but then when you read the end you'll think "that's it?"

I just feel like the last instance got drag way too long (70+ chaps) and the conclusion part of the story feels lacking

Spoiler

I understand that they were lovers before and at the end of their first season of instances, MC died so ML ask MC to be revive in exchange for going inside instances again.

Then, on their second run, it was ML that died so MC wanted him to live in the end.

And in exchange, the system took his memories etc

One thing I want to know is — is the current story a re-run of their first season of instances? Like, the whole world just restarted

Or are those completely different instances because if those are different, I wish the author talked about how MC and ML met the first time and how they fell in love and what instances they went through

[collapse]

FINAL RATING: 4.5

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS: If you like this story, you definitely have to read Kaleidoscope of Death. That's still the #1 infinite flow story for me, the last arc there was mindblowing and really got me clinging to the edge of my sit! <<less

Ugghh I CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE IT INTO WORDS.

It's just AAAAAAJAKSGRHSKSGSMZIBD!!!!! Deserving of it's 5 star ratings.

Gold! Treasure! Masterpiece! I'm so glad Ive found this!

... more>> MC is cool, handsome, kind, hardworking, smart and a lil bit low in EQ at first but that just adds up to his charm. He's scarier than a ghost and acts like a real mu*derer when dealing with those that killed him prior time reversal.

ML is my ideal ML: Kind, childish and youthful. But deep inside he's very possessive of MC and easily gets jealous! He's like a puppy following his "boss", the MC. What's unique is that he's scared of monsters and yet easily beats them up! There are also times when he acts like a masochistic bottom lol! Cracks me up everytime. He's superr funny.

The plot? Just like everybody else, I find it unique and amazing. I've read many! Manyy many I can't even count Infinite flow horror BLs, I would say, this would rank 3rd in my list of best Infinite Flow Horror BL Novel. Mainly because my first is : "Kaleidoscope of death". Second is : "Thriller Trainee". And all of them are masterpieces. <<less

Okay, this is going into my favorite list.

This novel is amazing. I love everything bit of it. The MC is not really the smartest, just an ordinary guy who got dragged in into a world of horror.

Spoiler

So our MC was about to die from a car accident, when time suddenly froze and then an elevator appeared of of nowhere in front of him.

[collapse]

The first arc was really good. In KoD I read how the protagonist survived the horrors of the the doors, with only one chance at life, clues to find and all. I really loved that novel. But this one showed how the MC had to go through hell each time only to die, reviving from death only to die again.

Spoiler

I literally cried in one instance where the ML reprimanded the MC for not cherishing his life.

[collapse]

Going through so much in those worlds made the MC a bit impulsive in the real world.

Spoiler

In one instance the MC and ML made plans to have dinner together.

The ML's phone was unreachable so the MC became worried as maybe something might have happened to him. Instead of breaking down the door after knocking for a while only to receive no response he decided to jump balconies. I mean, who does that?

[collapse]

There was more gore than horror element but my heart was scared, for having to see the MC die again and again. I really feel sorry for him.

Thanks to the translator for translating this wonderful novel. <<less

Read this quite a while ago using MTL. It was understandable but definitely not the best. Despite that, it still made me kept going until the last arc because of its uniqueness in terms of horror infinite flow novels.

I enjoyed each of the arcs and didn't find any of them boring. Got excited n curious about what was going on and how to solve it as well.

The MC and ML was also very real. Both of them were not OP or anything. They survived due to their hard work. (The... more>> MC's ability helped ofc, but it's also kinda...) They have their own tough side n their weakness. They're in a horror world and it shows. <<less

I'm using google translator so if anything is confusing, I'm sorry

I read until the end and found the story interesting, had put a lot of expectations in the story but there are some things that disappointed me

for instance:

Spoiler

the penultimate bow made me a little upset I think, I do not know how to explain right, the bow gave me a bad feeling that gave me the urge to jump to the next arc.

already the last bow I think it got too extended, I had to take some breaks to finish reading and sometimes I felt like skipping some chapters.

and I thought ML would remember the death cycles in the middle of the story more or less, for me that would be more interesting.

more apart from these things the story was very interesting, mainly why the MC is in this cycle of death <<less

Very interesting. Managed to finish the entire novel in 3 days. Tbh the characters are all flawed. But then again thats what makes them more human like. If you're looking for a strong and op protagonist right then maybe this is not for you. The MC and ML here are very realistic in terms of their character and strength.

Spoiler

the MC is only considered 'strong' because he has the ability to go back to the start (save) point whenever he dies. This gives him an advantage because he will know the plot of the arc beforehand, which makes him seem strong and op. Another thing that I found freaking hilarious is how the ML died right from the start. When I say right from the start I mean it. Literally the first arc and first time the MC enters the elevator, the ML dies by getting smashed by a 'hammer'.

[collapse]

Anyways good read, but the last arc is a little way too long and the ending is slightly anticlimatic?? But still good I guess. <<less

This is a fantastic novel. I really love this realistic take on how an ordinary person might navigate the infinite flow world with only a reset cheat code to keep him alive. I'm not great at escape games myself, so while it's fun to read an OP MC breeze through worlds with their intellect and strong fighting skills, I could identify a lot more with the MC here. I really like how the author deals with the effects of 'reset the body but not the mind', and the psychological impact... more>> it would have on the person resetting. MC and ML also unhesitatingly keep stepping in to save each other.

I love how the author drops hints throughout the story of what might be going on, and the explanation given at the end for what was happening. Compared to the slower start where MC is adjusting to his very first instance, the pace picks up a lot and by the last arc where I was trying to figure out what was going on, I could barely put the book down.

Translator is amazing, two thumbs up! <<less

A fun ride, but not perfect. I recommend reading, but just keep in mind that neither of the main characters will be perfectly moral angels throughout the story-- even so, I still really liked both characters by the very end of the story.

I really loved the start of the novel, namely the first two arcs. I'm usually not very good with horror but like others have said, the novel is mostly gory and not too scary (though the first two arcs were a little scary to me). I actually really... more>> liked the gory descriptions because they felt realistic and in depth. I agree with other peoples' speculation that the author must be in the medical field because those descriptions felt like the author really knows their stuff.

I agree with other reviews saying that the two main characters becoming yanderes is pretty well done and realistic. There were some parts that made me a little uncomfortable with the actions of at least one of them. However, because of the premise of the story, most of the really bad actions end up not being the "final run" so to speak (i.e., ML does something really bad, MC tries to power through to the end of the instance but fails, the timeline resets, so only MC remembers that ML did the bad thing). If you're wondering if anybody else ever remembers the failed runs:

Spoiler

The ML does remember / find out about stuff at the very end, but I kind of wish there was a bit more payoff in that regard. I didn't think it was handled poorly, I just think there was some wasted potential.

[collapse]

I also agree the last arc felt reeeally long. It was definitely long for a reason, because the whole point is to make you feel how MC feels having to go through these time loops over and over and to show how him and ML sort of lose their way before finding the good ending. The good thing is that the author skips over most of the unnecessary parts so you aren't rereading the same exact stuff over and over again, but it still felt like a bit of a slog to me. However, I overall enjoyed the ending. I wish there was a little bit more of an epilogue for some of the side characters, though. <<less

Well I loved the novel in the start I mean it's not bad upto this point too, not to the point I will certainly drop it but I feel like dropping it now ig. The point is I love the MC but it feels he is forced to be nerfed to outshine the ml. Ofc u'll disagree with me cos like ML is a horror game story player but the amount of time MC has died and experienced sh*t he should be able to guess many more things than just... more>> listening to the ml. Okay u can counter ki there are points when ML explains and MC is like that was what I thought about too but still there are times it's very questionable. He is a finance analyst plus he had good grades in schools it means he has a talent to keep on the information but the novels makes it seem like he can't do it without the ML anything.

Spoiler

secondly the current chapter 89 the injury shouldn't be sustained in the game world by the ml. It feels like the game world itself isn't working strongly on it's own controlled rules.

I thought I wasn't going to like another puzzle unlimited flow story (fell out of love with them in favor of more plot-based qt stories). However, this one was very intriguing and even though the mystery reveal was anticlimactic and felt like we were left with some plot holes, I think the happy ending and funny extras provided a satisfying ending.

The little medical and anatomical details the author sprinkles in the stories are so much fun as well! I love how the author manages to squeeze in references seamlessly into... more>> instances and character settings.

The couple was also very sweet and well defined. The moral of their love was also very interesting. Unlike most romances, this story isn't blindly extolling the virtues of love. The author pretty quickly hints at how love can make people act selflessly towards their partner, but absolutely selfish and inhumane towards everyone else. In the end, that kind of love neither benefits the couple's relationship or their interaction with others. It's understandable but also toxic. The author doesn't really suggest a viable solution for when love veers into this territory. If only people could start over in real life.

Now, my least favorite part (other than the slightly confusing explanation of the mechanism behind the instances) was the last arc. I think the author wanted to use it as a way to explain the mc's background, his struggles, show the flaws with their final instance, hint at the mystery behind the ml, and lead into the big reveal. With all these goals, I don't think the author managed to succeed very well in making the arc as interesting and engaging at the others. It dragged a bit, was confusing, and I honestly found myself skimming parts of it. That said, I persevered because I'd liked the previous arcs so much, hoped for revival of the couple to what they were, and was mostly not disappointed. <<less

Thank you very much for translating Death Spiral, White Sky!

First of all, I love this novel so much. I started reading this in early August and here are some stuff I've said lol:

Xu RenDong was in a bad mood and pushed the rabbit away: "You wait a second, let me go in first."

... more>> The rabbit (the killer) who was pushed away and fell onto its butt: "???"

August 3, 2023. Currently reading the first arc and THIS! IS! FCKING! HILARIOUS!???!?!! I've never read any horror/instance plot where characters can just push the instance killer and sass the hell out of it/them?!???!?? So refreshing, ah!

Also!!! ML here is talkative, silly, unique and a genius! He's not like the other MLs that are cold, strong af, and overbearing. He's a little bir- no I mean, a hamst- nooo, I really mean a sunshine ☀️

Also also!! MC here is handsome, tough, serious and kind! He has flaws and he's aware of it! Luv my topic terminator mc!

August 6, 2023. Seventh Arc/Instance. Ay... The main characters, especially the MC, went through a lot... The author better give them a wonderful and happy ending T^T. Also, this is the first time I witness in damnei where author breaks the fourth wall, not once but many times!! So fun!!!

Ahem... you can see how excited and enthusiastic I was with this novel. It is THAT fun and crazy. Btw, I finished it today! 10/05/2023. Time flies!

But....

Spoiler

As for the ending, I really love Death Spiral but this ending left so many questions unaswered. You know the feeling that the story's about to end but there's so many threads left tangled? That feeling is like entering a void lol. The mystery and excitement the story gave at the beginning fails to live up to the end... Like, how did everything, the instances, the system, and the being behind it came to be and why? This ending felt so rushed to the point that it doesn't feel so alive anymore. Or maybe I missed some important information but I doubt it...

[collapse]

I will reread this again after some time (to check what I might have missed), when I am already slowly forgetting the details! I'm currently rereading Very Happy! <<less

If this story had a dedication it would read something like "to all the cannon fodder characters in horror QT stories who exist to die terribly"

The MC and ML are average guys. There is only one golden finger. If the MC dies in the dungeon, he will restart the dungeon instead of dying IRL. So he experiences death. A lot.

If reading descriptions of a person dying in multiple gruesome fashions from the victim's perspective, including breaking down from the memories of all those deaths then you probably want to give... more>> this story a miss.

I agree with the other reviews and the translator that say the story would simply be too dark without the ml's puppy dog, cheerful personality.

I deducted one star because after all that torture I needed a little more soothing, yes-this-is-a-happy-ending, than just the two extras. Plus the author made some slip ups with names and character settings, and
Spoiler

we didn't get to see what happened to the singing monk and only got a brief mention that Little Apple survived.

A must read! * Good plot

* Characters are well developed

* Requires a lot of patience

* Unpredictable

* Repetitive but necessary for the plot

* MC & ML ♾️ <3 (this made it so wholesome) too humanely, can relate to the emotional and psychological lines for instance - what they did & why they did

* Ending felt abrupt but felt worth it

* Overall good! * Loved the Author's humorous lines

Much Appreciated, Translator-sama!

This is very good. I will definitely reread or continue this when the translation is complete. I think this is the first infinite flow that I've read where the ML is not the cold, overbearing, OP type of person. The ML/ Lian Qiao is actually still a mysterious person in a way that we don't know what he is hiding, but his attitude 90% of the time is a cute and clingy dog. I believe he is the perfect partner for Xu Rendong.

Spoiler

I feel so bad for Xu Rendong and it's a pity that Lian Qiao still doesn't have the memories/ retain memories every restart = ( (cause that is what was implied in the summary, but it's already the last arc and XRD is still suffering such memories of horrible pain and encounter every restart, ,

XRD deserves the world and I'm happy the LQ makes him happy and keeps him sane 🥺

@198 it gets kinda annoying how little apple girl gets too much scenes 😅 and she is even portrayed as someone who like LQ, it was getting annoying

the ending was weirdd, but the process was fun lol. Just sad that the summary didn't really happen, was a clickbatit

the extras were healing 😌

I don't really have much to say, it's good, it's sad and painful, it's heartwarming. It's a really good story, will def recommend this. <<less

Two person's world.

Both leads only have eyes for each other, which leads to the weak presence of side characters. Yes, it is reasonable, given being forgotten again and again by people around you will eventually tire you.

MC has an op ability which comes with a huge price. Being torn to pieces, stabbed, eaten, choked. He died in extremely painful ways. But, he isn't a genius, ML is. Two of them make an invincible team. I love how the author described their mental deterioration. One died, and one saw. Both don't... more>> even realize how these experiences change them. Their psychics falling apart.

It was very neatly detailed. Vivid enough, immersing enough, to make your heart ache. I cried a few times.

The translation isn't complete yet. I'll wait for it. I like too much to casually mtl. <<less
