Before all this, Qin Wanwan was the happiest Second Generation Immortal in the Immortal Realm.

Until one day, Jian Xingzhi, who had fought with people all over the world, came over to fight her out of admiration of her strength. She was pressed to the ground and he stepped on her face. With a slash of his sword, she transmigrated from the Immortal Realm to the novel “Strongest Mary Sue” and became the vicious Supporting Female, Qin Wan.

Just as she became Qin Wan, she was also pressed to the ground. Though, it’s now on a Judgment Stage. People nearby shouted to kill her because she harmed the Female Lead.

I am s*upid at differentiating which is a spoiler and which is not, so please don’t beat me up with a stick if you feel my review is too spoilery. I’m not good at reviewing either. Be careful when you click "more>>>" because I wrote a lot.

TLDR; This has quite a solid plot + romance + angst + comedy. Jian Xingzhi is the dorkest dork and Qin Wanwan is a closet sword nerd. I won’t change my mind. You should try to read this until the end. Once the plot... more>> kicks off, it will pay off. Discover all the puzzle pieces and piece them back together. Fortunately, there is a character development for all the characters (even side characters).

Wei Fu Ceng Shi Long Ao Tian, or I (This Husband) was Once the Long Aotian, is a sand-sculpture novel with great plot and character development. I was wrong about this being a sand-sculpture novel, there is knives beneath the sand. There are hints of the main plot scattered all around the novel, even from the very beginning. You won't realize it at first, but after collecting all the puzzle pieces you will be to connect all the 'coincidences' happening on their journey.

(Re-reading the novel will give you a new experience)

This has a different starting point from other Mo Shu Bai’s Xianxia themed novels (i.e, Jian Xun Qian Shan and Jian Xun shi Wo Qian Nan You). In JXQS and JXWQNY, the Leads have a past together and the undertone is romantic, while in THLA, it’s just a pure landslide, the Leads have animosity in the past.

The first time I read this, at the beginning, I didn't like the ML a. ka Jian Xingzhi. I feel that he is too short-tempered. He is funny and all, but I prefer Xie Gutang (Mostly thanks to MSB's other novels that have amazing people with the surname Xie, I’m looking at you, Xie Wushuang and Xie Hantan).

Only after I completed the novel did I realize how precious Jian Xingzhi and Qin Wanwan are. I support Qin Wanwan and Jian Xingzhi together because their dynamic is hilariously awesome. They pushed each other to grow in a good direction while bickering, and despite all, they can count on each other to protect their back.

Describe the Leads as an Animal

Jian Xingzhi - Golden Retirever; Qin Wanwan - Himalayan Cat.

Even the manhwa agreed on JXZ as a puppy and QWW as a kitten.

Commentary of Plot and Characterization

There is no perfect novel that can satisfy everyone.

In my opinion, this novel is well-structured and quite beginner friendly for someone new to Xianxia novels.

It's a Xianxia with a crumb of Transmigration so it's not your traditional Xianxia. (None of MSB's Xianxia novel is a traditional Xianxia, anyway)

The first half of the novel is more like an introduction, the second half is where the plot starts to thicken and it hits you like a truck. If I am to describe one of the major plot in the second-half, it will be:

“One does not know whether Zhuang Zhou dreams he is a butterfly or whether a butterfly dreams it is Zhuang Zhou.”

Questions such as ‘why did Qin Wanwan transmigrate?’, ‘why is Jian Xingzhi so talented?’, ‘why... ’ will appear as you read the novel, and thankfully, there is answer for those questions and you won’t be left hanging from unanswered questions.

Everything tied up satisfactorily in the end.

When there is a meeting, there is a parting. I was reluctant as I got closer to the end.

At first, for me, the character is two-dimensional. I can see them in every other novel under different names, there is nothing special about them.

As they trekked on their journey, they obtained their unique features and whenever I read their antics, I would go, “Ah, that is indeed so like (Character A/B/C).”

The people with such antics can't be none other than them.

I am attached to them, specifically our two Main Leads. I feel proud to see them grow while retaining their original traits. They didn’t abruptly change their personality during their growth, they are still the same. It’s just they have experienced many encounters and departures. They traveled to a broader world, one they have never touched before. This is what makes me realize how precious they are as characters after I connected all the puzzle pieces (especially the Umbrella Scene, my bae, so dear). Their growth also stimulates other characters’ growth. All the cast are in a healthy relationship where everyone is mutually supportive of each other. Well, not counting the antagonist...

Other side characters also have significant growth. Such as, Xie Gutang. He is not as simple as he looks.

About Fanwai

The fanwai is satisfying. It has the sequel, their happily ever after; the one-shot prequel which started this novel (the reason why Qin Wanwan and Jian Xingzhi meet) ; the story of (real) Qin Wan and (real) Jian Zhiyan; the love story of Qin Wanwan’s parents; the past of Jian Xingzhi and his Shizun; Xie Gutang’s growth journey; and most importantly, a story that start with a flower, and also end with a flower, a deserved happy ending for my best boi (sorry Jian Xingzhi, I’m not talking about you here).

Because nothing is perfect, of course there are some parts that left me dissatisfied.

  1. The transition to the Ending Arc.
    I feel that the transition was too quick that I was stupefied when I realized I have reached the Ending Arc. But then again, the world is ending (literally). it’s understandable lmao. No one can exactly predict a world-ending situation even if they have made some guesses. I, like Qin Wanwan, was not prepared to choose the Ending. (I'm not fully pleased with the transition, nevertheless, I enjoyed the Ending Arc)
  2. I wish there will be more fanwai, but 8 is more than enough, I guess.

Actually, I am easy to satisfy and I am not nitpicky. I have read too many novels to be bothered to complain about every single thing I am dissatisfied with. I just learned to accept it.

My opinion on some matters and to point some things that may lead to misinformation:

  1. Jian Xingzhi’s training of Qin Wanwan
    Spoiler

    Is it harsh? Yes. Is it inhumane? Not really. Qin Wanwan as an Immortal has great endurance, and mind you, Qin Wanwan herself asked to be trained. She knows what she is signing to. She wants to be stronger, stronger than Jian Xingzhi. With Jian Xingzhi as the objective, it was expected her training would not be all sunshine and rainbows. Jian Xingzhi is named the Long Aotian not for nothing.

  2. Jian Xingzhi being ignorant of other people advice

    In critical situations, Jian Xingzhi is always open to people's advice. You may read the wrong RAW, better check if you read the newest RAW or the older RAW? Because, in fact, Qin Wanwan’s voice almost always win over his and if he really ignored her advice, she would give him a piece of mind. He is wiped.

  3. Dynamic Shift after Arc 1

    Just to be clear, I may dub Jian Xingzhi as s*upid and the kind. He lacks common sense and someone needs to knock it to his head, yes, but he is far from being s*upid. He is more experienced than Qin Wanwan’s in many parts. If Qin Wanwan excels in theory, then Jian Xingzhi excels in practice. Needless to say, Qin Wanwan never steps out of her palace in the Immortal Realm (and before, she is just a white-collar worker) with zero fighting experience, that is why she appeared to be lacking in Arc 2 where plot started to pick up and they needed strength and not only theoretical knowledge, whereas in Arc 1, common sense and her theoretical knowledge helped her shine because there is no immediate threat or strong foes. Thus, we jump back to point 1 where Qin Wanwan becomes Jian Xingzhi’s disciple because she is aware that she can’t only rely on her witty mind. Qin Wanwan is not only the brain and Jian Xingzhi is not only the brawn. They have each other back and they are both their own brain and brawn.

    There is no 1st life, 2nd life, or 3rd life. “One does not know whether Zhuang Zhou dreams he is a butterfly or whether a butterfly dreams it is Zhuang Zhou.” This plot serves to confuse many people, even the characters in the novel have doubts about this until the very end. Is it real, or is it fake? Am I you or You are me? Seeking Immortalitly leads to many divergent paths, how can one know the path the butterfly is dreaming of, or the path of dreaming the butterfly? Just live as yourself, and maybe you will find the answer.

About my Favorite Character

Hesitation itself is a choice- a choice to continue not to make a decision.

Many times, many of the problems we face do not have a real “solution”, but only “temporarily balanced interest”. Decision-making must be done by someone, the reputation must be borne by someone. grievances must have channels to vent. Some people are destined to be heroes who cannot see the light of day. We often praise rulers who are not corrupt, and praise gentlemen who uphold their beliefs. It’s rare to see heroes who would rather smear their names and destroy themselves to “achieve their original intentions by whatever means”.

It is difficult to realize the great wish of being clean and pure in the world of mortals. Ordinary people always bear, or are about to bear, sins and get entangled in karma. They may be waiting in the notoriety and darkness, waiting for someone to use their time and opportunity. They sacrificed everything to find a better solution so that their and the innocents’ sacrifice won’t be in vain. All notoriety and blood will be exchanged to its equal value, so as not to be reduced into an absurd tragedy. And at the end of the journey, there will be light and you will receive your own happy ending.

  • If you want romance, this one has.
  • If you want angst, this one has.
  • If you want tragedy, this one has.
  • If you want a solid plot, this one has.
Give this novel a try and maybe you will love this novel like I do, or maybe you will hate this novel. Either way, I hope you have a nice day.

Additional Commentary

This novel has a manhwa adaptation. There are some minor plot changes, but that can’t be helped. There is never an adaptation that perfectly matches the original source. Therefore, I still recommend the novel over the manhwa, but you can find some good visuals in the manhwa.

Another reminder: Be sure to confirm your RAW is the correct RAW if you are not eating it straight from Jinjiang. Mo Shu Bai has a hobby of editing her works during publication, so... yeah. Don’t forget to support and show some love for the original author!

This is my fav cultivation novel! If you familiar with Mo Shu Bai novel, you'll know she usually has the so called 'system' in her cultivation novel. Which can be found in this one.

The set up is so interesting, the story is fall on the comedic (i laugh a lot) side but still have so many lingering feeling (and tragedy) and made my cry alot too.

What I like from MSB is all of her novel's characters are so 'alive'. Everyone has their motive and purpose, not only the main CP... more>> has brain. Even someone who just appear in a few chapters still so memorable and distinc. The main couple is not OP, there's some difficulties. <<less

2 main leads in this novel. She's a lazy good-natured person who wants to relax forever, he's a straightforward battle maniac who strives to become the strongest. They're both a**holes to each other and I'm loving it.

Reading this is like watching Looney toons, or Tom and Jerry. Hilarious back and forth fighting, where they both have each other's trust in the end. No matter how crazy the betrayal (she SOLD him for money and he sold her for system points, I'm dead lmao), they trust each other and the misunderstandings... more>> (or not lol) are resolved quickly. The betrayal is hilarious. Don't get it wrong, they both genuinely dislike each other at the beginning, but they're stuck together due to the system and are constantly trying to get rid of each other.

Let me tell you right now, NO male supporting lead or male lead is allowed to act 'cool' in this novel. None of them. The moment a male character wants to act cool or idk just LiVe, the author ruthlessly smashes them into an embarrassment. Usually, our idiot sword-obsessed ML is the cause of destroying everything. Others and himself, no one is allowed to act cool lol. Try it and they'll either be pantsed or revealed to have a few screws loose. <<less

I was surprised that this is actually pretty good. I thought it will always be a light story, but it has a deep plot and mystery

fML is a flower on the hill. Suddenly she meet a boy, and that boy give her life, so she can cultivate and become immortal. This is actually againts the heaven, but he did that because for the first time in his life, he see a really beautiful thing. Later, we will know that this boy is the ml. The ML has a really sad life in his first life. He has a lot of bad karma because of his despicable father. I won't spoiler further, but the conclusion is, ML become his father sword and s*ave. Being used to kill people. Later, fML understand his fate, and try to protect him in every possible way. Their 1st life end in tragedy 😢

This is where they first meet as gods in heaven. ML as a dominaring true monarch god, and fML as the false strongest fairy. ML stepped on fML face and distroy her house, and suddenly, they transmigrate to the mortal world. This is one of the most hilarious way to meet your future lover 😂. ML didn't take the usual male lead script 🤣

ML is fml's male pet and fML is the villaness noble girl that get a heroine counter attack script. ML job is to assist the heroine to ascend and help her counter attack and collect love script 😂. They are being guide by 2 systems and didn't know each other identity. They are so hilarious and I love how they try to pit each other 😂. Don't expect them to suddenly fall in love with each other, or not using brain and hurt each other

Overall, I really recommend it, if you love three lifetime love debt, mystery, couple growth, and enemies to friend to lover genre, you will fall in love with this

The author promised us extra chapters, but I am not yet reading it. I hope author will release it sooner. I am so curious about what happen with ML and fml's friend, and their relationship in the future <<less

I like it a moderate amount, the funny parts were funny and kinda ridiculous and silly while the plot line makes sense. The MC isn't dumb just kinda cowardly BUT I just cannot like the male lead. He's like an extreme jock, super muscle brained, though there is character development. I just find him really annoying, it's almost impossible to speak sense to him, he literally would just ignore the MC or just shoulder his way through. He may have good intention and is just ignorant but he's still hella... more>> annoying. I like everything else but the male lead lol. I do love their banter though and how the MC is smarter than the male lead but he's still mostly stronger. Also really annoyed at the fact that the guys acts super jealous and possessive idk his actions just strongly irks me. I think this type of male lead is just really not for me.

also just because the guy became her shifu, it feels like the power dynamics shifted. Before when it was more like she was more the brains while he was more like the brawns now it just seems like she has neither while the guy has both. I just I don't know maybe I'm not reading it correctly.

The MCs are hilarious but at the same time is very serious. Love the ML's 'fury and endless passion'.

Ten chapters into the book:

This is my 2nd Mo Shu Bai's book (after The Grand Princess) and I am loving it!

My fav part from the book is the characters. I think that it is the strong point of this book. They are very well portrayed, consistent, and developed well. Not too fast, not to slow.

Writing (just me thinking)

Just like what I feel when I read TGP, the writing is kind of edgy (?) It is a light webnovel tho, I think they are mostly like that. But yeah, I do think that at some part it is edgy (sort of the flow is pushed here and there?). However, it prevents from getting things draggy, so a good binge read.

Aside from that, at first, it is kinda confusing because I am not used to cultivation stories and can't remember what is shihai etc. But after a while, it became enjoyable, it is fun to read with the original name tho it is excuriating at times because I forgot the meaning.
