I was looking for a brainless fluff but I was pleasantly surprised, it's actually quite a bit more interesting than I expected.

Story is not as simple as the typical "cold ML falling in love with cute white lotus MC". //Well, ya'll know cnovel descriptions can be a little misleading LOL (side note; I edited the tags so they're a bit more accurate, I hope). There's an interstellar/mecha-related plot, so there's some worldbuilding and made-up physics that sort of stuff. The ABO stuff is not super emphasised here either. MC and... more>> ML's relationship is actually a bit more complex with a mysterious past. I'll put a light spoiler for those curious.

Spoiler

It's actually kind of similar to GUEE where MC and ML knew each other and were in love with each other from a long time ago but they forgot due to certain complications. There'll be a rather long ass backstory explaining this.

[collapse]

From the first few chapters it may seem like MC is a good-for-nothing crybaby but it's actually not like that! He matures quickly and doesn't really cry for most of the novel. He's pretty sweet, down to earth and not naive. He actually has a rather significant past and some special skills which will lead him to become a powerful figure in the end. Both the MC and ML are quite likable. ML initially has super low emotional intelligence and treats their marriage like a responsibility but he quickly falls in love with MC. He treats him very well but not to the point of overly pampering and sheltering him. He respects MC's opinions and also lets him do his own thing.

The fluff is pretty nice and sweet and I really like that there's good communication between the protagonists. There's also a little bit of angst regarding their backstory :))

Overall, it's not a masterpiece but it's worth a read! 4.3/5 but i'll bump it up to 5 since the rating is pretty low rn <<less

A very beautiful novel! It might seem as a story of a expressionless alpha and silly little white crybaby omega but it tells a much much deeper tale and is very fascinating! The omega is not any weaker than the alpha and might even be stronger.

After finishing: warning, this story becomes very serious! It's not only once I cried and I have to warn fluff lovers to prepare something fluffy and happy to read afterwards. In any case this novel is really thought-provoking.... It showed the author's belief well, that... more>> humans are never inherently good nor evil, nothing is black and white.

Plot

Spoiler

The plot is very deep and multilayered, we have the danger from Zergs and also the mystery of their (yes you didn't read wrong, their) amnesia. There is some foreshadowing hidden here and there that is quite amazing and then we learn the past from perspective of two main characters. It is found that they're actually from a whole different timeline where they were lovers but Chu Yu died there and the fact they had a whole dynamic switch in that world, with Chu Yu being cold and expressionless and alpha enthusiastic and shameless is super cute. Their past is quite heartbreaking but everything is well and they definitely take this new chance to show their love and scatter dogfood everywhere.

It's all fun and games until the ending though. The ending was quite chaotic, as war can be, and painful, as death of nearly all characters other than main couple. Literally every single one I liked died!! I have to warn again to prepare some tissues.

[collapse]

There are also side CPs, for example one with alpha and beta Chu Yu's friends but they don't take much focus.

After I finished I thought of something. This novel feels like a rolling snowball. It starts really small and simple, but the longer it rolls the bigger it gets. Some sticks and rocks mix with the snow. It becomes deformed and even dangerous if it hit someone. That's how the progress in this novel feels. This novel starts very simple but it definitely doesn't end like this. It's a piece of work though. <<less

Why isn't this tag as tragedy? Almost everybody related to the main characters died off leaving 1 or 2 that they weren't really close to!

I'm sorry I guess I just can't understand the kind of bd*m love the couple has.

In the beginning, I was like "I hate the ML, why can't he just let MC do what he wants and have to make him want to do as he thinks?!" then it became "ML leave that damn MC, he's toxic! I hope you can give him a taste of the pain you experienced because of him!" It was to the point I even wanted ML to almost die in front of MC so he can realize what horrible decisions he made.

In the end, my thoughts became what kind of bad luck it is to be related to these two main characters!

Should have not read this after reading the comments, since I can't stand stories about death the most. After all, I mostly read fluff.

Cherish every smile he gave in this life. That was the only way to make up for the pain he had suffered earlier.

[Beginning of story]

I have to say, looks can be deceiving. At first I thought it would be a cute slice of life without too many ups and downs. But when I read some reviews I realized that I could be wrong.

I found the plot interesting. Like all other novels, they had the zergs as enemies, I could see that the author made an effort to try to bring... more>> an intriguing plot and at the same time sweet.

[Halfway through the story]

At first I found the shou (Chu Yu) very weak and spoiled, crying for anything. The gong (Shen JingHeng) also didn't give me a good impression, so I was looking forward to a character development soon. It wasn't until halfway through the story that I realized how foolish I'd been. I realized that every moment Chu Yu cried, acted pampered, or smiled should be cherished. The burden he carried before, the way fate was cruel to this couple, made me realize that Chu Yu is better now. I would like him to continue the way he was at the beginning of the novel. A fool, who cried, smiled at his neighbors and acted spoiled for his lover. After all the burden he carried before, I started to think that he should smile more and live a happy life. After all, he deserves it.

[Almost at the end of the story]

Author-san you are very cruel. One by one they went away, each one was broken and disappeared, why add more pain? Not enough? I cried and cried and cried, when you think this author can't hurt you anymore, he hits you harder.

This is the most intense war I've ever read against the zergs, I feel like everything I've read before is superficial, they didn't show the true cruelty of the enemy. The philosophy that each one showed in their final moments broke me, I cried a lot, I kept thinking, how many more would have to have this ending to reach the “happy ending”? Would that happy ending have any meaning knowing that most were no longer there? Is this really a happy ending?

[History end]

Honestly, I have no words to describe how I felt with this ending. I cried again, thinking of all those who couldn't reach that “happy ending”. I cried when they got married, I thought that moment was very sad.

ML's actions to save their omega were very cruel, some might not feel anything about it, and others might feel outraged. I don't think I have the right or the ability to say whether that was bad or good. In extreme moments, extreme attitudes will eventually be taken.

Rereading everything I wrote while reading the book, I have to correct some of my words, the plot, besides being intriguing is very amazing, I will definitely not find such an intense story about the war against the zergs and it mainly highlights human desires in the fight against the survival of the human race.

After finishing this story, it made me reflect on the wars going on around us. For example if:

Has anyone ever thought about the pain those on the battlefield feel? See the one who was by your side disappear. Seeing all your companions disappear and all you'll hear is "it's for the greater good" “that their death was not in vain” “sacrifices are necessary” “Contain Your Pain”

I honestly think that no one has the right to measure, judge and define each other's pain. In the end, we're all broken.

What hurts me the most is seeing those who have never been on the battlefield, never felt the pain of a soldier, think they have the right to define the end and the beginning of each one.

Those who started wars are s*upid driven by greed, devoid of empathy and notion of what life really is. They start wars without thinking about the consequences, without thinking about the pain they will cause others, without thinking about the blood that will be shed. And after countless lives lost, they begin to yearn for peace. This peace, which was taken from them by themselves. Humans are s*upid, humans are cruel to their own kind, humans will be the destruction of their own race.

The peace gained after war is full of blood, it is a peace gained through the bloodshed of many people whose names no one will remember. Sacrifices of several souls who once had something they loved.

To love the country, to love your home, to love the people who live in them, because of these small reasons, many innocent souls are lost.

In war there will always be fools like these, who advance in the name of the motherland, usually they are the ones who die first, highlighting how foolish this human nature can be.

We are dust, nothing more than small dust particles scattered in the universe. With such an insignificant life, why use greed to make it end faster? <<less

4.75/5* - UNDERRATED STORY, RECOMMEND! (Review contains a few spoilers!)

I'm really surprised that this story only has 3.9 rating! It's such an emotional page turner, and well written. I think it is caused by misleading synopsis? It sounds fluffy and like a typical smooth sailing interstellar story, but it really isn't. This story had a lot of suspense, twist and turns. Characters had depth and were flawed. Also, important side characters that were super likeable died.

I loved the start. MC and ML were eachother's extreme opposite. The crybaby MC... more>> was adorable. ML had a very low EQ, but the couple did communicate and very quickly they were able to grow towards eachother. Their blooming romance was so lovely. The tone was light and the enemy wasn't that scary yet.

But then started the backstory of the couple, their previous lives, that didn't end well for them, not because of lack of love, but due to war and duties. It was heart breaking, epic, tragic and bittersweet. The backstory also explains why both MC/ML had such a big change in personality. The back story was very good! Maybe, you'll need a tissue.

The villains, the Zerg, were excellently written for 95% of the story. They were undefeatable, super smart and OP, and were real and very scary characters. Finally real villains that make our CP and the readers despair. I think the author did excellent job writing plot and suspense.

Many of the favourite side characters won't make it, and imo it was fitting ending. The villains were too OP after all, it would be very unrealistic if these lovely side characters would make it. It doesn't mean that I wasn't sad that they died. I LOVED the side characters.

Why I didn't rate the full 5* is because:

(1) I think author did such great job writing a suspenseful, heart breaking/epic love story with excellent, OP villains. However, in the last 5% of the story she seems too eager to finish. You can tell from the hurried writing style in the final chapters. Also, how they defeated the Zergs was a bit anticlimatic. It's luckily not a deus ex machina, but it felt too simple for the intriguing plot she wrote. Also the ending for 1 of the Zerg villains felt so unrealistic. Somehow, no punishment???

(2) MC's crybaby personality changed a bit too fast. It was partly a role that MC played, but at same time it wasn't. So, when it suddenly stopped it almost felt OOC. I think the transition could be more smooth.

Warning:

- there is r*pe in their first lives, although it was written in very detached and simple way, so it didn't feel like a big thing, as it was seen as experimental. Something the Zerg did to all the victims (and MC was the first, because he was the most excellent specimen. The Zergs wanted/needed to combine the genes of the 2 races to not go extinct. It is disgusting, but author spend just a few sentences to the whole thing including how MC felt about it. Author did manage to downplay the tone and feeling, but still...

- Flawed characters. ML did a few unthical thing in the end just to make sure their race would survive.

- Author notes. I never like them. Often because they are too long and/or they contain spoilers. But here, because they were inappropriate. Characters died and overall the situation was gloomy, but the author notes were always like funny small theater kind of style. It's as if someone tries to make a bad joke at a funeral. Inappropriate. She felt so unfeeling towards her own characters. And it distracted the flow and tone of the story. <<less

As much as I hate tragedy and avoids them as a plague, I really love this story. I will again emphasize the tragedy tag here. The love is real. The struggle is real. The lost is real. The feelings are real. This novel emphasize the love and sacrifices are mutual. I wish to discuss it but I will sign out for now. I can't move on. The battle and strategies between the fight with zerg is enough for me. The couples moments are enough for me. But the sadnessI will............ more>> I wanna forget about it.

I wish you luck if you pick this up. <<less

I like the premise, but not quite the characters. I find the personalities too jarring Together and can't figure out who I should be sympathetic with. Then there's random "deep" conversations that disrupt the mood.

I am surprised at how in-depth the story turns out to be. However I really have mixed feelings here. This story really gives me a rollercoaster ride of emotions, I don't really read this type of story full of deaths. The Sypnosis is deceptive, I was expecting fluff, looking for fluff and what did this story give me? Corpses. Fudge you author.

At first I liked the ML and was really fond of him I even sympathized with him and found him really adorable and lovable, but then when his previous... more>> memories returned; there I found that he is actually a cold, indifferent, obsessed, and hypocritical person who only cares about the MC. His life basically only revolves around the MC. He doesn't care about whether he killed so many innocent lives, mercilessly used 100, 000 people on a third-civilization planet into his s*ave, human war machine, and used them as a reproductive tool to fight the Zerg. This novel really considers a creatures life as a number. And it really irritates me to death every time a character dies that I am so fond of and then the author's note would only be some cutesy bullsh*t like f*ck you.

About the MC, I love him and I hate him. How can he easily forgive his father killer like that not to mention that he also killed so many of his soldiers, a hundred thousands of it if I'm not mistaken. Yes—I understand the MC's 'killing would not bring them back' and 'I'm so tired of killing already' but I can't accept that HE WAS FORGIVEN BY HIM (mc) out of people and that D*MN ML is whitewashing just because that Zerg was useful to him. I really cannot stand how he interacts with his dad's killer like nothing happened. As if the lives of those soldiers are also nothing. Really dissatisfied. Really want the ML to disappear but I know he is the MC's all he have in life.

Please note, don't be attached to any characters in this book.

I love this story, I hate this story, its good but d*mnable.

Also, now that I am writing these notes, I seem to notice that female alpha, omega, and beta seems non existent. <<less

I wrote a long review for this but due to various reasons, it got deleted before I could post it.

Essentially, this is a really well-written and engrossing novel.

I highly recommend getting past the first part (the surface level which is this arranged marriage with two super opposite people), it is definitely worth your time. The author is very poetic and literary and philosophical, and the story itself is incredibly beautifully done.

Spoiler

Although I don't agree with the concepts, sacrifices, and brutality presented in the ending, but from an ethics viewpoint, the ML is in the utilitarianism camp. I'm not one so I think he deserved to be put on trial, but it's a valid philosophy.

[collapse]

There's a lot of great action, plot, and like a top-notch sci-fi movie, the story is jam-packed with interesting scenes, whether it's amnesia, mecha, or the history of their civilization.

It sounds like a love letter to sci-fi and philosophy, so I'd very much recommend.

Unlike most light-novels, the plot is super well crafted, as is the romance. Both are deeply intertwined and the struggles of the characters as well as their sacrifices leap vividly out of the screen.

Strong MC, strong ML... and a very wonderful cast of supporting characters as well. Translation is great. <<less

It's been a while since I've read something that really deserved a full five star but now here I am. My original rating is 4.5 but rounded it up for the world building. So glad I found this story.

At first I thought it would just be some sweet interstellar romance as it initially went that way but it went beyond my expectations. After the romance and the introduction was established, a whole world was opened. Very complete story. It took me Into a lot of roller coaster. From light to... more>> heavy, simple military college to war, there's even drama and character growth. Every characters were well developed. It made me love them but also cry together for the loss the tragedies made me feel the realities of war and I realised I am not just simply reading a romance webnovel.

It is a beautiful intricate story of love that transcends worlds, the complexities of mankind and loss and gain of fate. Not everybody would appreciate the choices of the main couple but it just shows the reality. Not everything is black and white and there are compromises to be made. I like these imperfect characters. It's what made them different from Holy marys and seeming justice-minded perfect mains.

Enjoyed the whole story thoroughly. Very complete novel and worth the read. <<less

Why!!! The story so good... But 1 start remove cause the author kill my fav couple. ༼;´༎ຶ ۝ ༎ຶ༽

The plotline is unique and unpredictable.

I like the story but....

... more>> This novel really show all the dark side of humanity, for exmple how ML sacrifice other third civilzion for their civilization. This action that I disprove most from the ML. They are other things that let me see all side of ugly human nature. I cant approve those action but not denying it never happen cause it really happen in real life.

I love this ret*rd author but at the same time I hate her cause she let my second fav couple die!!!!

Why thought,

but I forgive her at the end cause of the ending for the dead couple, willing to show little bit of sweatness for them.

Arghhh never have this love and hate feeling that jubling my mind right now. (┛◉Д◉) ┛彡┻━┻

Author sama you are big bully!!! I want to hate you becs of that all dead characters but at the same time can not hate you cause the story so good ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ

This story has all my heart. I do have two very tiny gripes about it, but I'll talk about it later.

For now, I'd only like to say that this story has everything. The gradual morph from borderline fluff to absolute tragedy was heartbreaking and glorious. Contradictory, yes. But that's how I love it. The author tried their best to leave no plot holes, given that the world is very vast for a comparably short novel and did a commendable job. I can rave about the beauty of thus novel all... more>> day. Even the few side characters have a lot of character and you can't help but love them.

As for the two leads..... I have all praise for them. The MC, although he started out as a completely different character (same can be said for the ML in a way), it was still very organic and coherent. I usually do not like wimpy MCs and under normal circumstances..... I somehow didn't feel annoyed with our boy, so I continued reading and I'd be damned....... good thing I continued 😌 Really.

As for the two little gripes, (just nitpicking at this point)

Firstly, I haven't researched so I don't know, but this might be one of the first novels they wrote, and you can tell at times, while reading it. The writing wasn't actually lacking.... it's just that I read "Sovereign of Judgement" and subconsciously compared the ideologies in the two novels sometimes. It felt like the author couldn't pour all their thoughts in writing.

Secondly and this is just me putting out my s*upidest opinion on board..... I wanted more of the war. It was glazed through at times, and how I wish there was a more detailed account of the events in the war.

Anyway, all in all, this is a fantastic read and is absolutely recommended!

10/10!!! <<less

Way better than I expected given the rating! Will say that the last 20 or so chapters I got a bit tired as the plot got pretty convoluted at that point and I just wanted fluff but there was only pain. The ending is bittersweet as hell I'll say that much. Definitely did not catch the tragedy tag before I finished and uhhhhhh yeah. Anyways.

Either way, definitely up there for an ABO interstellar novel! MC starts off just as a normal person which is quite rare, and ML may be... more>> emotionless but he's hilarious in his lack of comprehension for social norms. They make a pretty cute couple, and I liked how the author tied up the plot points to give their love story a lot of depth! <<less

So I’ve finished this in a day. Hooray!

Does this mean it’s good? Idk, I can only say there are reasons I gave it two stars. Again, it’s my personal opinion.

1. I never like when there’s flashback in a book. One chapter is fine or even just a quick flash, but if it’s an entire ARC then there is too much.... more>>
Spoiler

there are like 5-6 chapters? Idk but it’s quite a LOT to me

[collapse]

2. Can’t relate to both MCs and MLs
Spoiler

Let’s be honest, I enjoy the the crying baby Chu Yu. I actually dislike the other Chu Yu. Not that I hate cold protagonist, but I just can’t connect with him. He’s too conflicted for me to like him. And everyone says that MC grows, yes, but it’s not like he truly grows. It’s cause there’s someone else inside him (aka the old version). So yeah. It’s just funny that Shen Jingheng is able to stay in character after regaining his memories but for Chu Yu, he’s suddenly a different person. ML is okay, but too 2D for me. I also don’t like how he forcefully pushes his ideal to MC like that at first few chapters, but then at the confession part, I love him then after the amnesia part, he’s back to be 2D for me. It’s like suddenly he’s just a side chara who’s not in the story

[collapse]

3. Plot is so so. The plot twist and conflicts are too much. It’s like the author decides to put everything into one and I’m not feeling it so far. I skipped so many chapters because there are too many fillers for me. Moreover, the coincidences, the characters, the solution — I felt super unsatisfied. I don’t mind MC grows but as I point in no 2; I don’t like it.

4. Have a thing when author puts too much highlights on the side couple
Spoiler

Granted Fang Shiyan and Gu Shaoqin are necessary for the author so that we can have more angst and tragedy. Yet, I don’t like it, not when I was so interested in MC and ML then suddenly you threw me the side pairing.

[collapse]

5. Unsatisfying ending. Normally this is the part where it concludes everything for me. The end sometimes justifies the means to me. If I love the ending, nevertheless how bad the plot before or the plothole, I can turn a blind eye. This one save it slightly, but just slightly.

Anyway, you can try to read it. Maybe it’s to your liking as I see many good reviews, it just this is not for me. Sad 😔 <<less

Okay, ngl, I didn’t expect to cry by the end.

that is the truth and another truth is- this is not a well written sci-fi. A romance? Maybe yee, but yeah not a good sci-fi because by the end I was like ‘ hey, did I miss a paragraph?’ And mind you I used to be a physics student, yet author’s explanation of their own world just did not make sense.

some characters are beautiful I wont lie, its a read I dont regret to be honest.

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this read. Completed with no extras but left me a bittersweetbitter experience. Won't spoil anything but be prepared to cry so a tissue box is recommended. Then again I do cry easily it seems... If you want a description without spoilers it would be the law of the jungle, morals, values, individualism and obsession or maybe called love made up this work. Underneath I can maybe see core values that I won't mention in case it trigger anybody but it makes you question is... more>> even our so called justice something that should be taken as granted considering our so acclaimed advanced society or is it just for our greed for our own satisfaction of been seeing as righteousness and admired as a result. <<less

It is really good! The pacing and the overall novel is really good. I just hope that the complete translated version will be done faster. But still even reading the MTL is enough to let you know that this novel is worth every single second you spent for it. I just wish there are extras to give us some hope that maybe just maybe Fang Shiyan and Go Shaoqing can have a happy ending too. Maybe in an alternate or parallel universe maybe because their spiritual something is still there... more>> that they can be created new bodies? I don’t know but I just want them live and really have a happy end. Still I thank the author for the really good novel. <<less
