The Rebirth of the Last Days and Return to [Fang] Hao

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

Before rebirth, He Zizhong was unfortunate. This loyal dog was loyal to the wrong target. In the difficult end times, he was betrayed by his relatives, deceived by his lover to show his space, and was sadly chased by the enemy.

It wasn’t until before he died that he learned that Fang Hao, who accompanied him all the way, turned out to be the junior brother who confessed to him in high school. It’s a pity that he died too, in his arms.

In He Zizhong’s past life, Fang Hao felt that he was lucky, after six or seven years, in the desperate apocalypse, he found the senior who was his first love again, and he could accompany him for half a year.

More importantly, at the end of life, you can still die in the arms of someone you like. Is there anything happier in the world?

After rebirth, He Zizhong reused facts to prove that of course there is something happier in this world than death at the same point.

With a space and a lover who he has vowed to protect in this life, hitting zombies, upgrading and creating a better life together, this is He Zizhong’s life goal after rebirth. What do you do when you encounter a lover who has cheated on your feelings in your previous life, a selfishly-wants-to-deceive-your-own-space cousin, or issues a killing order to chase down your love rival?

Since they can’t get around, step on them in the mud with one foot!

It's a very average novel

I have a lot to say and I want to make everything very short as possible

The actions of them are getting repetitive

The author tries so hard to avoid having any way possible of contact with the MC's cousin Towards the pair she then suddenly was never mentioned after the Allen guy is gone (There was indeed a sentence but yeah just a sentence)

It was said that the friend of our enemy is an enemy, what's this then?

It suddenly became "The Friend Of Our Enemy Is A Friend"

A lot of people complain about the Death of the villains but they forgot that this is focused (As stated in the novel) about surviving the end and MC repaying ML not revenge now I'm doubting whether they read it carefully or not (Yeah of course it's obvious they are a couple they even said they love each other bah)

It's early romance since they are thirsty (Lol)

The mechanics of the base is useless and full of tyrants (I don't dare to explain deeply because I'm pretty sure you won't want to read 4 paragraphs just about it and yeah it's a waste of time)

Ever since the beginning they knew that dumpling can take zombie nuclei directly from the zombie, why won't they take advantage of this and make dumpling just do it since it is indestructible (when they are alone)

The water in the well can increase their power without side effects I'm pretty sure they can drink it every minute and they can power up (Yeah lol it even stated there's no side effects so why not?!!!!)

Dumpling also can became invisible why can't they just also take this as an advantage and steal zombie nuclei from the base. (I didn't mean directly from the warehouse I meant when they are fighting enemies and they can just steal it from the mountain of zombie ashes)

It's the end of the world, for gods sake author I'm sure by that time nobody would believe about something "dear god will punish us when we steal" (I think that's too extreme my bad)

(And they even stole zombie nuclei in the first place but didn't continue I don't know what's the author thinking about this one)

[collapse]

The interaction between them is quite good as they trust each other every time.

It's worth the cost to spend time on this one really.

I don't know for others but this is the best apocalypse story I read by far. When I started reading it, I thought it was your typical face-slapping cliche rebirth stories but it's not. So if you're finding something like that with this kind of genre, I don't think this is the right story for you.

So, what made it the best for me?
    • First, unlike the story with the same genre the pacing if the story is more believable than the other, wherein the king of zombies already existed within just half a year of the story most of the time.
    • Second, for me I don't think it is an apocalypse story but rather a diversions of races? I mean take an observation, it was told that zombies don't attack each other and rather it seems that recognize each other as their own races. They attack both human and mutant plants but not their own. They are even more united than humans.
    • Third, while reading in my mind they're not zombies but more like vampire because of the given characteristics like being afraid of the sun, the one I said earlier, and they are being lured by blood. But unlike vampire they are mindless and brainless.
    • Fourth, I like the pacing of the story it's not too slow but not too fast unlike other story. Also, the fact that their advancement is in accordance with the monster made more sense like them being level 3 first before facing more level 3 monster. Also the fact that level 1 monster weren't discarded from the story unlike others who added more and more high level monster as the story pace and lessen low level. For example, in other story level 2 monster were 200 plus more than the level 1, it doesn't make sense to me.
    • Fifth, I like the fighting scene (although some of them are done by using cheat and more) but I love than they don't actually have the upper hand all of the time and met some problems at some point.
    • Lastly, the ending, is the most unexpected part. I'm expecting something like the other story wherein they eliminated monster once and for all. But they don't and they didn't actually get to do so because they almost done for. It's unlike other stories that killed all the monster or find the cure for the so-called virus. It actually ended by luck.
Anyways, it doesn't mean that it's the best for me, it is without cons.
    • All I can think of as it's cons is the face-slapping cliche part that did not come. If you think this is that kind of story, well, unfortunately it isn't. Most of the antagonist died by their own s*upidity and such.
All in all, it's a good story to read, at some point it has some funny part in it like the zombies who has the healing abilities that kept healing it's leg because it thinks that it'll make him faster

, up until now I kept laughing at that part. Also, I like how it depicted that people who survived were the people who tried their best to do so and have the will to live rather than people who thinks that someone will save them for themselves like the villagers and SH base in the story.

I don't know if anyone think of this, but I think the reason why antagonist were unlucky in this rebirthed story of MC is maybe because MC is their lucky charm? Anyways, among the story I read with the same genre, this is the one that made sense the most.

P.S. I have an early thought while reading the story, that what if instead of dying in each other's arm in the first story they'll survived and have a comeback for revenge? Anyways, that's all. Maybe I'll just edit it if I forgot to add something haha

I just read the translated version completely (read MTL a couple of years ago) and while I didn't love this story as much as the first time around, I was still entertained.

I don't mind their space cheat or their OPness like others, but I get how it's not everyone's cup of tea. My problem with the story is the lack of direction.

The story started off strong but I think the author forgot about where they were going with the story.
    • Insane amount of crystals are needed for each level, the zombies aren't a replenished resource for said crystals.
    • The dumpling from the space was never explained and slightly annoying.
    • The cultivation and martial arts was kind of abandoned
    • The base drama was weak and seemed an after thought.
    • The whole last arc with what was in the prison was a big unecessary cheap plot device.
    • Then it just BAM ends.
    • We also never find out who the one on the Samsara team is with.
MC and ML characters are ok but not great. I felt like we weren't shown enough of the ML, he felt more like a prop. It's another story where the Shou is forced the wife and momma title. MC and the dumpling interactions weren't funny to me and I found it childish. Their relationship felt unbalanced despite the author trying to force ML to seem strong.

Agree with others that they could have opened up more to the other team, not the whole base.

I mean come on, they went through life and death struggles with them and they hid important info. Not saying they should invite them into the space, but even just being upfront that they have ways out of a sticky situation or share some veggies with them or something.

The Translator did a great job and I do recommend this novel to anyone who likes zombies and OP characters, just brace yourself with a disappointing ending.

3.5/5*

I binged this novel in 2 days because I was rushing to read the ending.

I like reading apocalypse novels because they resemble those from poor to rich, transmigration farming stories. Super satisfying how the protagonist build their business, country etc. Apocalypse stories are the same in this respect but has more action and adrenaline.

However, this story was less satisfying than I hoped. One is because CP has too much of a cheat. Their space is like a paradise. It has everything from the early chapters. Even compared to the pre... more>> apocalypse world their space is still a paradise and superb. Totally self sufficient. They could easily vanish into their paradise and disregard the whole apocalypse. However, they didn't do that for the simple weird reason they think they would be bored, despite that for the first 1/3 of chapters orso there were no significant side characters and they didn't want to have dealings with anyone else. This was one of the biggest plothole. Because all they did in first 1/3 of the chapters was excessively hoarding, even secretly stealing one time from a warehouse with survivors whilst these survivors didn't hurt them or anything. Simply because of the reason the more the better. The couple just come across as so selfish. I don't like mother theresa kind of characters at all. But characters that are only slightly better than villains in a story, doesn't sit well with me either.

Afterwards they slowly build relationship with a mercenary group. However, they never fully trust them. And that is the 2nd thing that dissappointed. They had a secret paradise with sooooo much fresh produce, to the extent it was all fed to the porcs, chicken etc that lives in the paradise. They had so much they could easily feed a city on their own. However, they never did. Not that I think they should feed a whole city. It's not their job, so zero blame here, but they even never gave an apple or whatsoever to any of their best friends. To keep it a secret they all made it into energy fluids in the end and exchange into nucleus for themselves. At the beginning they had reasons to keep it a secret, because of dangers. However, towards the end they were so strong, no one could do anything to them. But they still chose to keep all a secret. They could actually just make up an excuse why they had all these fresh produce, or just bring it out without telling the secret. No one would or could force them to spill their secrets. And cp could hide every night or even their entire life in their secret paradise if they wanted. But they never 'spoiled' their close comrades once with an apple. In the end they were still too much of a couple of loners that acted alone. The author never described any of the side characters as friends.

What makes a story good is not only the cp but also their their real feelings and relationships with side characters. And this story failed this part. Sure, cp fought together with them, contributed tremendously defending against zombies in the end. And when the base would truly fall, they were willing to take few closest comrades with them into their secret space paradise. But it never came to that, because they won. And after that, they continue to act as if the world truly don't have any normal fruit, veggies or animals left, but meanwhile they were honeymooning in their space every day, having seafood banquets.

In short, it's a pity. They just come across as so selfish and quite typical how nowadays trend in society seems to be in China? Keep all good things for themselves. Even if you don't need them or are sure you have too much of it. As long as you yourself are fine. They even don't want to trade any of it. It is just depressing if everyone in the world is like that! There would be no charity organizations. I liked the ending of the apocalypse. It was great for mankind and the reader to read that there is hope. <<less

Read it and it had moments where I wanted to drop the novel but I conquered and was worth it.

Is a bit cliche, not gonna deny it, but is enjoyable. You have fluff, a lot of background (the hard part to stand) and a relatively good ending.

Recommended, but not gonna read again.

Mtl’d past chapter 166; translator did a great job and the MTL is readable.

This is actually a 4.5 up to chapter 198 or so. 1/2 star deduction for the usual apocalypse danmei misogyny. Females are useless/weak and can only be useful as playthings or healers or support. Everyone turns gay because there aren’t enough women because women are weak. Literally only one named woman that shows up for more than one chapter that is a good guy... and I’m not sure if she actually is fully named beyond Mrs so... more>> and so. And she is very much in the background. The last chapter has a token lesbian couple, consisting of two people we’ve never heard of.

The reason it is rounded down instead of up... the whole story is written well, trips/missions actually take time and multiple chapters to resolve. Excellent plotting, I don’t think there are any major plot holes. Strange reasoning for doing things? Sure! But no threads left in woven.

And then the ending happens in one-two chapters.
Spoiler

Literally big big battle scene, fades into a two-three year long war where waves upon waves of zombies attack their base (I realize this is China but??? Can there really be THAT many zombies attacking ONE city?), the Zombie King Baby comes rushing in and the city is about to be destroyed... and the sun comes out and melts the zombies. The Zombie King Baby escapes into the underground and (in what feels vaguely like a mid credits scene promoting a sequel) is eaten by a mutated plant. Probably that same one the main couple keeps running into. No one ever goes looking for it.

[collapse]

Total letdown.

I was sad that more wasn’t explained about ML’s space since they did wonder about it a few times, but we never got and backstory on it.

I really enjoyed reading this and I totally recommend it, but uh—maybe imagine your own ending. For me the ending really brought this down. <<less

The story stay true to the title.

MC who get backstabbed by his lover and cousin, surviving the hardest time with the person who willing to die for him; miraculously get rebirth a month before apocalypse and things develop according to title (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) I like the couple dynamic. Both of them are willing to do everything for the other's benefit. I'd love to read more about them but it's apocalypse so even if there's the heavenly space for the couple they still have to fight zombies, busy upgrading their ability and space.

Spoiler

I want to know what they gonna do with a lot of things they stocked in space but it doesn't mention much.

The ending is a bit rough but understandable since the couple relationship can't grow anymore cause their status bar kind of max in early chapters.

There's a lot of thing left unexplained. What exactly is the dumpling and space ? You'll never get the answer. The couple don't care about the space's secret apart from that dual cultivation methods ಠ_ಠ

The side couple YX x YD is kind of my type (人 •͈ᴗ•͈) I wonder what the story would be like if we follow these two perspective. (ꈍᴗꈍ)

The zombie king though ¯\_༼ ಥ ‿ ಥ ༽_/¯

PS. This is not the revenge type of story.

An enjoyable read if u like hoarding and a peaceful laid back life in the apocalypse. The romance between the ML and MC were adorable, especially the shou (he's just a cutie pie and a good wife) . I'm happy for both of them -

I mostly prefer apocalypse novels with some action and team building,

So

not satisfactory for me. No action, no teams, no research, no struggles. Just like a peaceful apocalypse novel where the MC and ML got nothing to do but cook-cook cook-cook-cook and eat. Quite boring after... more>> sometime. <<less

Like what one of the reviews said... hoarding! But I enjoyed it overall, yeah I am that simple lol. There is really no conflict between the leads as it is an established relationship before apocalypse came, so not really much action on the romance side, more like the couple are on a honeymoon in an apocalyptic world. OP leads, OP friends and OP dumpling.. check! check! check!

The one star less is tho I enjoyed the story, I just felt everything was anti-climatic! The plot, the ending and many more. For... more>> example:
Spoiler
  • No revenge and/or face-slapping of the enemies in the previous life? (Maybe I get used to reading novels with lots of face-slapping I get addicted to it? HAHA) But seriously, I got disappointed that all 3 of MCs enemies were like dead all of a sudden and he doesn't have a hand on it and worse only knew it after they're gone. They got long build ups then bam! Oh they're gone! (maybe karma works and it saved the couple from dirtying their hands, but boring it is!)
  • Also, a little bit sad their space were concealed to the end (Yes, might be for their best but they were the strongest already). Like what one of the characters said, the couple has no ambition whatsoever. Which I find myself boring at some point.
  • The ending was rushed, bro it happened in 1 chapter out of 200 chaps? and the ending left you hanging like whutt? what just happened?
  • One reason I removed 1 star is because of MC, like bruh! What you did to the ML in the previous life is so frustrating! I don't believe your love after rebirth, just because you knew at the end of your life in the previous life that he was the one who confessed to you in High School? And your reason for having the ex-bf was because of the eyes that reminded you of the youth who confessed to you that made you realize you are bent, BUT when ML arrived in your life you couldn't even recognized him? The hell!!
    [collapse]
I am easily pleased and after getting past those in the spoiler tab, I still not detest it thoroughly hence 4 stars! <<less

thanks for the hard work translating~

I have to say this took me forever to finish there are some elements of the story that I deeply despise...

namely the white ball that's neither a child or pet more of a cheat code AI lmao I just found it so aggravating for some reason, that I had to keep taking breaks for weeks on end LOL, but if you like cute annoying pet that sometimes get in the way this is perfect for you.

overall, the story is a perfect 4.0 not above or... more>> below a decimal. I like the couple's communication and cuteness but you can't really see much development and I don't think the MC ever told the ML the truth so that was a bit disappointing since the whole title was about the ML I just feel like I didn't get enough connection or depth emotionally I don't know if it's the Arthur's writing or what. but the translation was Phenomenal as always gotta love kom0rebi~ <<less

4/5 I enjoyed reading it.

Though Feng Hao was to subservient for my liking. He just 'loved' HZ more than his ownofe. But I felt like these emotions where a bit over the top considering there was no real falling in love... but it was ok.

There were few other things, but all in all it was a good/ok.

By same author of the excellent "The Reborn Otaku's code of practice", this is another zombie apocalypse story but somewhat different from Reborn Otaku. In the Otaku novel, the MC had no abilities and had to build his nest laboriously, where as in this novel, both protags are somewhat OP from the start. The 2 books have different protags but I often felt that it's shared universe, with similar setting and abilities evolution. I like to think that both stories feature 2 different squads from 2 different bases but facing... more>> the same threats and fighting the same fight.

I liked that the protags get together from the start and their interactions are so sweet and loving. Some readers complained about the lack of romance?! Did they even read the whole novel? <<less

4.5 Stars

Overall

This is my first full length zombie apocalypse web novel that isn't part of a QT story. And I really enjoyed it! I felt the quality of all the aspects of the story was quite high. The characters, the powers, the hoarding, the worldbuilding and all that. I adore the feeling of living this life and being reborn/time travelled some time before the "event" so they can hoard and prepare for the apocalypse! I really love the feeling of secretly buying/stealing/hoarding stuff to put in their space before they... more>> all run out. The anxiety of can they make it in time? Will they be ready? Are they doing it in the most efficient manner possible to get the right stuff? Then, you add in the cool powers and the gradual scaling up is pretty consistent! I don't get the issue of constant one-upping between the zombies and the MC which can happen so fast that it can feel hollow. This one is quite good! My interest in power levelling was kept. My only issue is that I feel the space wasn't used for the most impact in the story. All the benefits that are exponentially too big for the couple were 90% only for the couple. Only in the extras do we see them manually producing food in a factory in their space vacuum sealing food from their space to trade among bases. But it was so short, just one chapter, so it wasn't satisfying. Like I really wanted them to utilise the space completely to obtain an equal or exponentially higher number of benefits for themselves. This is because I am more interested in the details of wealth building hahaha.

Writing/Translation

The translation I read is from KnoxT by komorebi. I found it quite good! The flow is good, the English is fluent and there are only minor errors that are hardly detectable. Good.

Pacing

The pacing is super consistent until the end. But in the end, there were some time skips. Just want to warn you, the story ends when they get to level 5 so no worries, when they are at level 4 and there are only a few chapters left, there won't be a rushed ending where they become god and destroy all zombies or something lol. Keep your expectations grounded haha.

Plot

This follows a zombie apocalypse plotline. The main characters use all the resources they have to get more skills and resources to survive and in the CP's case, to thrive. They aren't aiming to end all zombies to save humanity but to live happily in comfort with each other. But throughout this long story, they unexpectedly and without really realising it, form some ties outside of their two-person world and grow. This part is seen more towards the latter half of the story, just by more contact haha.

Themes/What Story Tried to Achieve

I adored the hoarding resources part haha. The setting being the end of the world with so many dangers outside just gave more meaning to the hoarding. I love the whole process of it haha. And I love imagining the future potential of all the stuff that was hoarded. It's not just hoarding for the sake of hoarding in the apocolyse but because it is dangerous to be outside with zombies. In those ancient time periods with a magical space web novels, hoarding is to give an edge over everyone else to grow wealth but here, it is a necessity.

Characters

The main couple really grew on me haha. We follow them for so long as they go on lots of missions. The MC is the seme and the ML uke. In the beginning, I felt the ML was a bit boring, a typical uke. But over time, he's quite a confident guy now. They both have bad experiences in their past. Well, the MC had a good life but a bad apocalypse past while the ML's is just sad haha. They both grow throughout the story and they really grow on you too haha.

The side characters are all varied and unique! Not just props for the story! They are likeable too and the couple very slowly make friends.

The bad guys though, when they were being scummy to the couple, I liked it but they quickly don't have much interaction with them the later in the story it gets. There was no satisfying faceslapping for them :/ They all basically just died with no help from the couple sigh

Some things that knocked off 0.5 star:

    • The ending chapters were unsatisfactory even if it oddly fits the story.
    • Lots of mysteries are still left unsolved like what is the gold power of the MC in the end?
    • Also, what is the history of the space? Is it another world in the space? And what is Tuanzi exactly? No explanations.

I particularly enjoy how logic and common sence this stories are (this author) of course I mean how people think, how normal people would set traps, hoard, safe suplies betray enemies and the like while on the other hand there is all the fiction of zombies, superpowers and opness from the main CP

The fluff is minimal wich I regreat cuz ML was cute and sharp while MC was a little silly but still kind of atractive 😅

The side couples where interesting and I wish there was more to them since they where so surreal yet down to earth

The end jdjfjcjjshhdjf!!! Loved it!!

I mostly read the BL novel where the Uke is the MC, but reading a BL novel where the Seme is MC is not that bad too, just like other BL story but there is a kind of feeling that I'm actually dissatisfied and it's bc of within the acceptable range, I can't complain much.

For me, the story is ok but... It feels like I'm reading a story with a monotone. There's rarely any excitement. But this is really slice of life all about sometimes.

And it's actually a fine story.... more>> At least, I don't find it boring enough to change novel.

I like how it wasn't a revenge type. MC's world didn't revolve in face slapping those who lead him and ML to death. MC use this life to love, pamper, and spend time to ML. He did have some idea to make trouble but fate didn't wait for him because they died before ML do so.

I like the ending~. The sun light up again the world and made the zombies hide from it. It's not unreasonable like, The sun light up the world and all of the zombie vanish. Though this didn't kill all the zombies, this change is already big. They can travel in the morning to other bases or kill zombies that are hiding, and defend the base in the night.

Also the part where mutated plants kill the zombies and zombie king lol. It's like plant vs. Zombie. MC and ML didn't save the world but it's fine. This portray that they are not that special and them dying aren't that different from other people. They are just human who wants to survive the apocalypse.

What bothered me was, I didn't know why the apocalypse happened. I don't know if it was stated. Maybe because of research in the lab under the prison? I'm not sure. Also the child that MC and ML have, what did it become after the upgrades? What changes the space have? Where did it came from? Is it just a space or a world that was sealed off?

I'm not that type of person who will ask this things but I do because MC open in up in some chapter.

But it was enjoyable read. I'm not disappointed. <<less

Thank you translator san for introducing this wonderful work. I really liked the story, despite some cliched parts. There were some good action moments which I really enjoyed.

The zombie tides were pretty cool, especally the last one. They gave a good breath of fresh air from the slice of life pace of the story. My favourite part was when the group along with some other 'exiled' members went to the other city to help the other base. The journey was pretty enjoyable.

The story is pretty much worth it if you want to read about the apocalypse but dont want to delve too much into the gore and enjoy the OPness of the protagonists and their gang of 'little brothers'. Anyways, a good read! <<less

(UPDATED REVIEW)

For this reread, I didn't end up getting very far. Partly because I read it not so long ago, but also because the fast-pacing and the show vs tell approach at writing makes it very boring to read when you're not multitasking. It's hard to fully sink in when things are always on full throttle! My opinion on the novel is generally the same though! This Novel has strong Slice of Life in the apocalypse vibes in the beginning! The MC (He Zhizhong) is a regressor with a magical space accessory that allowed him to survive in his previous life by way of growing plants. However, it was also due to this magical space that he ended up dying in the past. More specifically, his rotten lover had stolen it away as collateral to hug the thighs of another man. In his second chance at life, with a month to go before the apocalypse and an early meaning with the sweetheart (the ML, Fang Hao) who had stuck to him (and even died for him!) in his past life, he begins preparing for the apocalypse early and fills up his magical space with everything he could possible need. Along the way, he discovers some secrets hidden within his space that he had no chance of exploring before. The main focus of this novel is definitely on hoarding materials and getting stronger. The main characters are a lot more selfish than your average protagonists. So they act primarily for their own sakes, and don't really consider others outside of holding out a hand for the occasional help. I would recommend this novel to those who like poor-to-rich novels like me~ It's not the most detailed because of the fast-pacing, but it's still pretty good in that regard. Content Warnings:

This is a rare Gong!MC and Shou!ML novel! The novel is smut-free for the most part (mostly fade to black scenes). And it's not overly gorey. The relationship between the MC and ML is also 100% consensual, although there are some of the usual hints of dub-con and non-con with passerbys because of the apocalypse setting.

CHARACTERS: 6.5/10

Character development is not really important in this novel. There is some complexity in them, but the main focus is the materials hoarding and survival aspect.

The main characters are He Zhizhong and Fang Hao, and a lot of the plot in the beginning is wholly focused on them. Later, some side characters are introduced, but they're not given as much limelight. Scum villains from the previous timeline also have their time to shine, but again, are not the focus of the story. It shifts from a close-up look of the two main characters into a wider scope view that focuses on everyone!

He Zhizhong (MC)

A rare Gong!Protagonist. He's the easy going type. Kind of traumatized because of his lover in his past life was such a mess, but he's well-adjusted, so such things don't affect him for too long.

Fang Hao (ML)

A very cute and adorable, Shou!ML. His persistence when it comes to loving the MC is very charming. And overall, he's a very bright and virtuous little bottom. Minor Spoilers:
Spoiler

The most prominent side characters to look forward to are He Zhizhong and Fang Hao's son, Tsuanzi, and the Samsara Group!

ROMANCE: 6.5/10

In terms of romantic development. Things go pretty fast. It's a simple type of romance because the ML was always in love with the MC. And after seeing how far the ML would go for him in the previous life, the MC is similarly all-in. You can say a lot of the romantic interactions are after the fact, where they like an old married couple to beat all the single dogs lolol

SETTING: 7/10

Very much like your average zombie apocalypse vs special ability users novel. Except this has a more slice of life feel, with the main couple just doing what they can to make themselves as comfortable as possible and only getting involved with politics and battles when they need to. It manages to stay interesting despite this with the worldbuilding though!

I read the author's other work, the one with "Otaku"? Can't remember right now, and didn't finish it. But I know that it has a similar slice of life vibe in the beginning. I like the setting for this one cause I find material hoarding really satisfying~ I even have a whole List just for Magical Space novels that I like. 🤧 PLOT: 7.5/10

The slice of life feel may not appeal to some folks, but if that's the case, you may prefer the action-heavy arcs in the later part of the novel. There's also cultivation settings included, as well as some revenge. Though, altogether, the plot remains pretty simple.

RATING: 3.43/5

(NEW RATING) My rating seemed to have lowered a bit. But this rating doesn't really include a "personal enjoyment" score. I should start including that next time! LOL. I still decided to stick to my old four star rating for this, disregarding it's official score; because, quality aside, it's a very fun read for me. (OLD RATING) : My rating for this is actually somewhere between 3.5 to 3.8 stars, but I gave it a four star because of the review system lolol! It's pretty good and I had fun reading it! The story is definitely more self-indulgent than others, with a greater focus on farming and grinding -- rather than face slapping revenge.

Major Spoilers:
Spoiler

In fact, there's very little of that here! Most scums are taken care of out of sight. Which is a little unsatisfying, but not overly so.

[collapse]

The characters grew on me by the end, and because they were entirely consistent all throughout, there were none of the jarring OOC moments that I usually expected. The ending was a little bit abrupt? I think there could have been more there, but that's a small thing, and the novel was long enough. I think it could have done better with a couple of more prominent side characters too. But, a story with the two main characters going out on their own isn't necessarily bad. Just a bit boring once they got their relationship and developments out of the way.

So yeah, all in all? A good novel that I definitely wouldn't mind reading again in the future.
