This is a master piece!
The story doesn't have much cliche as others I was surprised by many developments. The author managed to give everyone their own stories without over using the same characters, the anti protagonists was also interesting, I never expected the reason why he became a bad guy. Overall it's a intriguing story without too much cliche and characters you grow to like.

The MC is better than most. He is quite bold with the FLs and doesn't have (much) self doubts which is quite nice. Although he... more>> could have used a bit more compassion...

The ending was superb, in the fact that you were told how everything went, who ends up with whom, did they have a happy life, was the evil dude gone, that kind of things. <<less

This novel is average and light read. It's quite similar to every other 'isekai' & 'level system' series but it is still better. You can try this novel when you are fed up while reading monotonous parts of your favourite novels, you know to change your taste or should I say environment (?).

Other than that it is a good story with a similar concept and pretty much entertaining. It gave me a mind refresh after getting bored and more importantly, it is completed!

So why not just give it a... more>> try? <<less

Typical arifureta knockoff, except that every character is one-dimensional. As an isekai novel, it's okay enough, it at least tries to copy the good parts of arifureta, e.g., the relatively ruthless character of the protagonist (he's still mostly a typical pushover tho), and the existence of an actual harem. Besides those, there's not much to say, it's just bland.

This is literally Arifureta, but way worse.

MC with tr*sh skill send into hell by betrayal? Check.

MC gets overpowered in said hell by eating monsters and gaining OP skills and stats. He also hates everyone. Check, kinda since his hate feels really lukewarm. Not enough edge.

... more>> MC is able to create everything? Check, but makes little sense due to his class. Is basically given to him to fit Arifureta better.

MC gets his first waifu, who he saves from a predicament, and she becomes his anchor? Check. Kinda. She's a genius magic user though.

The main antagonists are the pope and his ahole god? Check.

One of the harem members is his classmate, who was in love with him before, is a priest now and can display a hannya stand. Check 100%, she's Kaori with no character. And I guess have a childhood friend tag on top, so it kinda feels even worse.

There's probably more that I'm missing.

The writing gets really bad later down the line. Vol 1 is decent. In vol 2 it starts to fall apart. Vol 3 is basically tr*sh-level. The story is not half bad for this level of the novel (isekai wish-fulfillment junk food), but the way it's written is just bad. All the SoL moments are the worst. I really enjoy Arifureta after stories and quiet moments, and I can't even stomach reading those here.

Wifing the heroines is an afterthought - I can't feel the connection between most of them. All of them also feel like the same character, with no distinguishing features. The revenge involves hundreds of thousands or millions of civilians - MC doesn't give a f**k, even though he plans to be a resident of another world. There are no moral questions risen, of any kind. MCs motivation feels really vague. Etc. Etc. Etc. It's all lukewarm.

If you think that Arifureta is bad, then this is at least 50% worse. Even by my super-low standard for junk food media, this is so bad I'm really considering dropping it. I'll probably stomach the rest since I'm mostly done, but if there was vol 5, I would just throw in the towel.

I'll give it +1 star for a decent 1, 5 volumes I guess. <<less

Lets make it straight, volume 1 is really good it covers the classic with how the MC is summoned to another world, has chef as a job and got eliminated through transporting him into the most dangerous place possible and surviving....i like the mindgames with how he detected the culprit at who killed the son of the count where there are a lot twist and turns. However in volume 2, it started to deteriorate but it is still tolerable.... however the MC who wants "revenge" even to the extent of... more>> not controlling his bloodlust/killing intent, let him go (the man who tricked him)..... ok what an ANNOYING cliche, would have been great if he killed him then and there but he just got to let him escape.... it makes his revenge so petty that I would rather think he is not serious at it at all.

It makes no sense what so ever half way through but it just got to screw it then and there.... the story building and build up along with its excitement are wasted and the story just got jumbled up afterwards....

Makes me regret reading vol 2, since it wasted vol. 1 <<less

To summarize in one line: This story and MC are already defined by novel's title - garbage.

The MC finds himself unable to be 'sold' as a hero in a class summoning to another world with different countries auctioning the other world heroes due to his garbage job as chef. He is then thrown into a dangerous forest under the false promise of a carefree life. He soon realizes that he was betrayed and on the brink of death finds that his job actually has OP skills (how 'unexpected' trope). He... more>> then sets out to take revenge with his OP skills while surviving dangerous beasts lurking in the forest.

And now to the review: Nothing new or innovative, usual repeated tropes, just your average Isekai story with typical beta MC who sets out to take revenge but soon finds himself surrounded by harem of girls and easily gets pushed into doing their bidding. The story lifts parts and tropes from other Isekai novels and then enmeshes it into an unrecognizable garbage. It was so bad that the author had to finish it with only 4 volumes. Better go and read some other novels instead of wasting time on this shit. <<less

Nothing really bad about it. However the end kind of ruined it for me.

Spoiler

I did not like that everything that happened was just for the god to die. Made it feel like everything was just given to him, which it was.

However I think that other than that it was a fine read. Just not something that I would remember.

If I had to summarize what I have read so far in one word, it would be “boring”. The starting premise was good and something I could get behind but it felt like a chore reading. Honestly I was surprised how bland and boring it felt reading that it actually surprised me. Another thing that bothered me the most was character’s personality. Dude is pretty much an a-hole. I tried rationalizing it by him wanting revenge or being an anti-hero but no, dude is a straight up a-hole that you... more>> could find at your local city. Another thing I can’t stand is when novels (like this one) have a protagonist who is capable of killing and have no issue with it, choose to not kill the people that are after their life. They justify it by saying “it’s beneath them” or “they are not a threat” and lets them escape. Dude is supposed to come off as a ruthless man who wants revenges and is willing to kill those who stand in his way. Instead we get someone who treats others like tr*sh because he can. It’s not even entertaining and only comes off as irritating and annoying. I stoped reading because it started feeling like a chore and could not find a way to like the MC no matter how much a tried rationalizing it. <<less

If this was a god knows how much volume novel I would have given it a low score.

It's generic, not particularly outstanding in any aspect and the characters leave much to be desired but it's a 4 volume read. Fights didn't drag on a lot so I was able to binge it at a light pace without it taking up too much of my time.

It's a light novel in every sense of the word, light hearted plot and wraps itself up pretty quickly. Would recommend if you're looking for a... more>> refresher from a heavy action novel but if you are fed up / ran out of the slow life stuff.

Spoiler

Wish the ending elabourated more on what happens in the end, he took the final boss's place but in time he may end up suffering the same as him

It was a fun casual read and was an okay interesting isekai, but the quality started taking a dip once he got the first girl. Once he got to 3, I seriously felt like I started to lose brain cells. The MC also has many inconsestencies together with an okay story. I was originally planning to rate this a 3 until I got bored, but the later chaps seem to be worser than the book already is

Does it get any better?

Not because it's good but because it's boring and typical.

I thought it was interesting because, I read a little bit of the manga and thought he would be solving Mysteries and cooking, with kind of just steamrolling things because clearly he has near the infinite amount of strength, he can just Auto heal and gain new abilities because he eats things....

... more>> which sounds ridiculous, but when it comes to these types of stories characters always need to have an ability, that has gets all the abilities.

Sometimes it makes sense....., sometimes but, no not this time, literally so far all he's done is eat and get new girls and fight things that are like two hundred years older than him, and just win!

like literally he barely wins in the beginning sure, but he used this sure kill move and wins, honestly I don't know what it does.

if this becomes an anime I think it will be so bad it's funny, but I don't see why this has like four stars on this website. <<less

The story is kinda bad. MC is a pushover sometimes and the story is a little force.

I don't normally drop but I may have to drop this. It is starting to become unbearable at vol 2.

3.5 stars is definitely a correct review.

It started relatively good but quickly become “garbage”.

After getting power MC starts to act extremely bossy and bad. Literally abuses partners and acts like he knows everything. Then just get beaten up.

Story doesn’t make sense. Everything is just happening constantly and nothing explained.

Just think this a worst version of Death March but at least in Death March, MC was half dependable and kind. You can read it as a chill past time but this is straight up bad and disgusting.

Alright, here's the deal. Don't bother reading past Volume 2. That may sound harsh but I genuinely encourage you to remember this. Volume 1 and 2 are fun and while there are moments that are nonsensical and that I don't agree with, collectively it's a story that you can enjoy. The problem is that things start to get out of hand in volume 3 to an unreasonable degree.

Spoiler

I wrote essentially a really long thing but it was just a rant so I will attempt to organize this a bit better. I think that there are 2 glaring issues in this story. The first is the harem and the second is just the foundation of the story's writing.

That 2nd one sounds like a greater issue than it is so we'll start with it. Essentially, when you write a story I feel as though it is important that an enemy serves a purpose. Blank Objective nets blank reward and the story goes forward. At the end of the day, the ultimate enemy is the end of the story. With proper foreshadowing and a well thought out story, you can extend this by making the presumed ultimate the servant of x enemy. There's nothing wrong with that but again, I want to emphasize PROPER FORESHADOWING. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth when the ultimate dies and it's like "oh and and and that guy wasn't the bad guy it turns out theres this bigger badder guy and hes the bad guy." It's just cheap. This story exhibits this issue of having needless enemies that don't serve much purpose in the story. To be fair, I haven't given this story enough benefit of the doubt to see how it resolves that but at the moment it just feels like every bad guy is just some xp for some one dimensional character to kill in order to rush their way to god status so that the ending can be the typical "I became a god. Here's my harem. The end."

On the topic of a harem, that was my 2nd issue with this one. First and foremost, I understand that some people love harems and if it is done correctly I also enjoy it. I have read stories where I genuinely hoped that a harem occurred just so that some of the female characters in the story that were done well would be rewarded. Monogamy is boring. BUT. It needs to be done properly, which this story did not do. And a lot of the issues that this story exhibits is just a lack of depth. The enemies have no depth, the female characters have no depth, even the MC arguably doesn't have much going on. Back to the subject however. My main issue with the harem is that every single female in this harem have no personality other than "pls giv me attention mr mc!!!" and often times the introduction of new characters lacks no rationality. I didn't count but off the cuff, around 7 women are in this harem by the time that I've decided to give up this story and the issue that I have is that not a single one of them has any reason for you to care about them other than that they are a female character in a story. Maybe that's too harsh but this is an opinion so disagree if you wish.

[collapse]

Okay, the rant is over. I don't want to completely just bag on the story though. It did some things well. If you had cut the story off just at volume 2, it would've been a fun experience. Coming to a new world, being discarded, and consequently trying to build yourself back up and enter a world that you don't know about and exploring those concepts is great. It allows for minor tensions, moments of glory if you wish, and more than anything retains the level of "childlike wonder" if you will. <<less

Just gotta say, one of the worst ones I've read. The story was overall really bland, and the fights won't make u feel excited because the MC wins every single fight. Although this might sound like a good thing, it just takes away the excitement of not knowing what will happen. Even in Arifureta (another LN similar to this one, although it's way better) , the MC lost a couple of fights so it at least kept some of the excitement. And like another person said, let's not talk about... more>> the romance. Almost all the girls weren't in love with him and then bam! For absolutely no reason, they're all over him. There's even one who just popped up and basically said "Nice to meet you, now marry me". <<less

It's the typical jap isekai, if that's your cup of tea, just read the novel.

It's bad. It's one of those stories in which some classmates, MC included, are aware of the typical plot concering being teleported to fight demons. Hence, at the start, MC jokes around about it. Novel seems as if MC will not do the typical things however, within a couple of chapters, it becomes apparent the novel will follow the typical plot.

If the novel simply followed the typical plotline, I would give it a 3. I haven't... more>> invested much time in this genre so perhaps my impression of it is lacking however, this novel seems to have been faster and dumber than typical. The worst part about the novel is that despite the MC recognizing the plot at the beginning, he still proceeds to become the typical edgelord. That is primary gripe I have with the novel.

What does this novel feature?
Spoiler

We get the typcial MC has bad class. MC gets sent to place where nobody can survive. MC survives, and proceeds to gain levels like crazy. MC meets a sword which can transform into the iconic katana. MC want to eat rice, soy sauce, and miso. The only thing that differs is that the first s*ave is not a demi-human. But yes, s*ave gains back freedom but "forces" MC to keep her as a s*ave.

It started out pretty good but later on you see everything kinda flops. It's the general op MC but usually they have cool twists but in this novel, the MC is just op and is pretty dense. Things just happen and aren't explained. There's too much unnecessary backing that could be replaced with actual explanation of wtf is happening. The MC is too op and just throws it out there, he's dense and arrogant. He spreads his power to anyone he wishes without thinking about the consequences which I think... more>> that it should include someone turning after becoming op from him so he learns that he shouldn't trust people. There's some pervy things I guess? In my opinion, I think the pe*verted commentary could've been more discrete or funny but it was pretty straight up and made it get boring very quickly. I think this book would've done much better had it included a lot more events and more build up. While you read this, you'll start to notice that you get almost no satisfaction from the story and overall the story isn't very exciting or keeps you enticed? There's nothing that makes you want to keep reading. <<less

This was enjoyable enough at first. The power creep became truly absurd though and I lost all interest as soon as super-powerful opponents became commonplace. If I could, I'd go back and only read the first two volumes. It really became boring for me in the third one. The harem had no personality and the slice-of-life elements were not enough to sustain my interest.

Even though there's only one volume left, I have no plans to finish it.
