Meng Chu is the fiancée of the male lead in the romance novel. She knows that the female side character is gentle and kind. Everyone thinks that she has deep affection for the male lead, even if he is extremely cold towards her.

The day the male lead and female lead reconciled, the male lead went to find Meng Chu to break the engagement with her.

Meng Chu heard a wonderful voice: “Congratulations to the host for successfully completing the female supporting character’ story.”

Just when everyone felt sorry for Meng Chu, she was busy buying planes and yachts to date a little fresh meat.

Her good friend next to her persuaded Meng Chu: “Don’t be sad, you’ll find someone better.”

Meng Chu: “Okay, I will find a better one.”

After a while, the male lead regretted his decision and asked, “Where is Meng Chu?”

The male lead’s assistant: “President, Miss Meng is about to get married.”

The male lead: “???”

I'm sorry, but I read the raws and the author's grammar is just so bad it made my head hurt. I'm not even exaggerating. It must've been so hard to translate this.

As one of the reviewers said, this is just one of those highly unrealistic cliched brainless story---no originality, no character development, no central conflict, no plot structure, no logic, no research, no worldbuilding, even no moral value. This is really one of the worst cliched modern CN webnovels I've read this year.

But then again, this might've been written by... more>> a middle schooler, so yeah. <<less

Mmmm well, it's your typical blantantly face-slapping & brainless story

While it's not bad, but the more you've read this type of story, the less special/amusing this story is.

As for the romance.... it's... I dont know why ML like MC?

... more>> ML meet MC through MC's friend whose looking for blind-dates for her

They talk and MC told ML to wait for her to break engagement before they start dating, ML agrees

After MC break engagement, she told ML that she doesn't want to get into a relationship and won't marry until 15 years have passed (which is like, excuse me? ma'am?)

ML refuse to give up on MC (even if you ask me why, I won't know why), secretly help MC, eventually told MC that they can postpone marriage but can they be in a relationship, MC still doesn't agree

And I stop reading cause MC is honestly no better than her (ex-) fiancee's girl.

MC basically did everything within the boundary that system allows to anger, digust and drag down (ex-) fiancee's girl, and while revenge/faceslapping story can be enjoyable when written properly, I don't consider this as well-written. <<less

Meh. The story was good at first. It was a bit exciting when she started to show her true self, and left the Chen Jinfeng (especially the part when they broke their engagement), but then it became a bit bland and nonsensical. She was too showy and it's like she didn't have any self-control and did whatever she wanted without thinking about the consequences. Yes, she invested in good projects but her subordinates are left with no choice but to do whatever she chose with no room for discussion. She's... more>> always the hot topic of gossips. There were literally no breaks, just continuous troublemaking and faceslapping. There wasn't even much time for romance. I doubt she even liked the ML much. The marriage also looked forced. They just got married out of the blue. She literally got married just for the sake of the plot. I felt bad for the ML. She just dragged him around, forced to follow her whims because he loves her. <<less

Warning: It's going to be a long rant

It's the New Year. I have nothing to do. So I just finished this book in 3 days.

And yes, I do have a lot to say about this novel.

Long story short, MC transmigrated into a novel as cannon fodder. She just wants to complete her story arc asap so "The System" will let her do as she pleases. She hates book ML & FL and wants nothing to do with them. She's just acting like she's in love with him the whole time.... more>> So when book ML finally broke off the engagement, she finally was able to be her true self.

It started off quite well and did a good job hooking readers in. I'm immediately intrigued by the MC and her conditions, as well as her relationships with the supposed male lead (her fiance) and her family. But it gets very boring very quickly.

As many have pointed out, the MC is too OP. She is prettier than the book FL. She has a Midas touch, so everything she does she always wins. Wanna be a singer? She's the best-selling singer/songwriter. Investing in a business she has no clues of? She gains success after success without lifting a finger. Getting dirty water thrown at? She's able to turn the table in a single chapter. Got her engagement canceled? The wealthier and more handsome CEO is now head over heels for her.

And it never felt like she has to earn what she receives. Other side characters are also pretty bland, especially the ML, which I think got done so dirty by the author. He basically has no character outside being in love with the MC for no particular reason. Her friends were there just to be her friends. Her ex-fiance is too blind by love and the supposed female lead is just so s*upid it's unbelievable how she ever gets anything done in the first place. She just doubles down every time she crosses paths with the MC and goes downward spiral like how doo-doo naturally goes down the sewage.

The only person I think has a good arc is the MC's younger brother. He's a spoiled young brat but he still has his pride and he's committed to what he wants to do. And he's able to turn around from a good-for-nothing to a respectable character at the end. He's my favorite in this story.

Story-wise, I can't read Chinese so I'm not sure if it's the raw or the translation but the dialogs felt very mumble-jumble. Many times it's unclear who's speaking what and other times it felt like some lines were missing. I also don't like how the author often cuts the scene before it is supposed to end. As a fellow writer, I personally think it's cheating. You cut the scenes so you don't have to write out the difficult parts. For example,

Spoiler

There is a scene where the book ML tried to stop the book FL from messing with the MC coz he knows book FL is s*upid and she's never going to win and in the end, he would have to clean up after her.

The scene just cuts after the book ML said "You can't win" and next thing we knew the couple was not on speaking terms. Like wtf happened? It's an emotional and important scene that you should write out for readers. It says so much about how book ML was getting tired of book FL and started to regret abandoning the MC. And how book FL couldn't get her head above the dirty water to see how far she is from where she began. But no, just cut it off like it's nothing. Right. Lazy author.

[collapse]

Ranting aside, I actually enjoyed the first 50 or so chapters. I've been reading a lot of heart-breaking, tragic stories so it's nice to have an MC who slaps everyone's face before breakfast and after lunch. It's a very satisfactory read.

But don't invest too much into the storytelling itself. Read this as a joke or a brainless activity before going to bed and you're good.

It's not the worst ever, but definitely not well-written either. I give it 3/5 stars. <<less

This is an enjoyable read. I recommend this if you want something to occupy your time, you don't really need a brain to enjoy face slapping. There isn't a lot of logic here in this WN.

MC is hilarious and I really do enjoy how independent she is. She is actually quite honest with her intentions but honestly, a lot of the things she does is very "extra" and basically, there is no common sense when it comes to her. She ignores the poor system which... okay fine but there isn't... more>> any repercussion for her when she does so which is kinda sad. I really do want to see her struggle. There is literally no character growth and it's already c56.

ML, on the other hand, is kinda random I feel. I don't really see why he was attracted to MC, there's no backstory for that so far. He kinda just likes her from the beginning and I'm like * surprised pikachu meme*. It is hilarious though how he tries to be lowkey and an average guy. <<less

Be aware that this story truly throws common sense out of the window. MC is super OP and everything she does not only goes good but also makes her even richer. OG ML and FL only exists to be cannon fodder and make her shine bright, they even ends sabotaging and making themselves the bu*t joke of this novel world.

ML has no pride and chases stalkingly MC after falling in love at first sight. He is also the male God there, and apparently has only one braincell when it comes... more>> to love.

Basically this novel is just a 'side character' indiscriminately faceslapping two pitiful idiots.

No depth, no true drama, characters are pretty plain as they are unidimensional. So if you're looking for a story that has sustenance, memorable characters, rich plot, wordbuilding, justificable and satisfactory faceslapping... This is not your story, you might even feel you lost some braincells while reading lol

Now if you just want an hilarious story about a Mary Sue suppressing the main characters with money, beauty and talent, this is it! <<less

Reading this feels like someone keeps pressing the fast forward button behind your back, meaning a lot of things happens right after each other without break and you have no sense of time.

That aside, you really should not take this novel seriously... like at all. The FL is a Mary Sue who recklessly throws money around, making everyone think that she is about to go bankrupt. But luckily, all her investments succeed. Talk about plot armor.

The ML is also ridiculous and can't be taken seriously. He falls in love with... more>> the FL at first sight and is a wife s*ave from the very get go, changing himself according to her tastes even if it means deceiving her.

There were also a few inconsistencies that bothered me, but I did not care enough to go back and double-check.

So yeah, all in all the novel is an okay story as long as you keep your expectations low and your brain off. <<less

If you're looking for a novel that is well written and good plot then this is not for you.

The FL is ridiculously op, the ML is basically an extra and the other characters are boring.

I felt like the romance was forced and the antagonists in this story was your typical antagonists with lack of brain. The FL was chill and I like that she was very clear about cutting ties with her family but other than that, she is your usual too op chinese novel's female lead with a system.

And... more>> through the story, I felt like I lost a few braincells because of the translation.

But yeah, if you wanted a light read and don't mind reading a story with an overused plot, illogical story line, bad translation and forced romance, I'd say why don't turn off your brain for a few hours and give it a try ? <<less

I can't, I just can't.

There's no logic at all.

This is probably written by a middle schooler, the story is confusing, the events are impossible, orgFL and orgML are so s*upid, the male lead is just an extra in the story and the female lead is an ultra max OP caracter that it became boring.

She decides to have a pilot license so she goes the next day to have the exam, but never use that license. She discovered a gold mine, invests in s*upid dramas but they turn out to... more>> be hot dramas. Her family suddenly and all by themselves change for the better, ex-fiance suddenly regrets dumping her when he finally gets together with his first love, a male lead that is pathetic and only has like 7 appearances in the entire novel....

The only reason I finished this novel is because I wanted to know how more unrealistic it can be.

I just really believe that this was written by a 12 years old girl. <<less

This novel is a straight up spoof of face-slapping novels and that aspect is hilarious. Because it’s a parody, I’m not going to hold it to the same plot standards as a novel that takes itself seriously, BUT. It would get tiresome if it were much longer.

Because it’s just stacking tropes and cliches from the genre, it reads a bit... rushed? It feels almost episodic, like checking tropes off the list without much effort to logically string them together. Like the OP ceo ML appearing out of nowhere, deeply in... more>> love with her (enough to play at being poor because she wants a hot-but-otherwise-ordinary marriage).

Again, since this is essentially a short gag novel, that’s not really an issue.

If you’ve read a zillion modern face slapping novels you’ll probably laugh because it’s so silly and over the top and all the tropes are ridiculously on the nose while also extreme somehow.

If you aren’t familiar with the genre or read this seriously... well, it would probably be awful. There’s no character development, no real plot, everyone acts like an extreme archetype caricatures, and the events are random and outrageous. (Like forcing her stereotypical spoiled-by-a-patriarchal-rich-family brother to choose between breaking his arm or signing a contract for a reform camp reality show for 2nd gen tr*sh—which cane out of nowhere. He wanted her to buy a yacht for him with her broken engagement fee and she was like...I’ll break your arm or sign. 😂 It was just a random tidbit thrown in out of nowhere. Not even a full chapter.)

a lot of the reviews seem to view this novel seriously... which I can’t fathom. It would be a 1 Star novel if it was honestly trying. But it’s on the nose as a spoof, so it’s probably more like 3.5. Fun quick read with no nutritional value. <<less

The plot is too fast.

Spoiler

Nothing was mentioned about what she was doing in her past life, but the next thing she become a popular masked singer and song writer and that her songs all and will become a hit.

[collapse]

Spoiler

She asked someone to introduce her to an 'ordinary' person for a blind date and yeah he appeared and she was quite satisfied with him so she asked him to wait for her to end her 'engagement', but why do these scenes happened in one same chapter.

[collapse]

Spoiler

And that 'ordinary' guy was really confusing. He was some kind of boss but he introduced himself to be 'working' as a programmer. Although it wasn't necessarily a lie, why does it seem to me like he's pretending. They barely just met in a single chapter and he's acting like those MLs who pretend to be poor but when they marry their FL they turned to be rich and powerful. Was it because MC wanted someone who's ordinary, has stable job, honest and clean. It was his first appearance and he had just met the MC by then. I couldn't see any development there and his character become like this then turned to that just because of MC's criteria. I don't know if he's the ML but it really seemed like he was because of clichés. And the supposedly badass MC was also easily convinced and viewed him as really excellent blah blah, but because the system said the supporting character only married after she was 30/40 yrs old, she directly told him she won't date anyone for 10/15 years, even though she's the one who asked him if he can wait for her to break the engagement before they officially blind date. And that guy's reaction to that was only dumbfounded.

[collapse]

I've only read about 20 chapters and so many things happened. Here I'm still comprehending how the MC dealt with original body's father.

My head hurt so much to consider this one a light read. The premise was a bit exciting, but there were many things that just didn't make any sense.

And I really doubt that slow romance tag 'cause this novel seemed fast paced. <<less

It was a nice read. MC is likeable, ML is a bit sidelined (poor guy lol) and the plot is easy to follow. What I like is that it didn't go to the point that the "villain" gets destroyed thoroughly and gets a chance to redeem themselves through self-introspection (except MC's lil sis, but hey 20+ years of patriarchal brainwashing and inferiority complex is not something you can make disappear with just a few months of hardship). Even the jerk father becomes better nearing the end of the novel, which... more>> I appreciate. The writing style is a bit like a summary sometimes, but I guess it's better than long, poetic description about the character's appearance. Most of the characters are likeable, but ML's parents really topped my fav characters in the novel despite them only appearing very little. They're just a pair of lovebirds on honeymoon that keep shoving dog food to their son XD <<less

I've read novels with s*upid plots or characters, but no novel has been as s*upid as this one. Too bad, they had a good concept, but not only did they not know how to take advantage of it, but they turned it into garbage.

I have read novels with FL OP or Mary Sue but to some extent they still had some logic or reason why FL was OP. But in this novel they took it to another level.

One of the most ridiculous things is how ML falls in love with... more>> FL
Spoiler

ML bumps into FL's quasi-agent on the street, the quasi-agent tells her that if she wants to go on a blind date and ML accepts, go to FL and just with that he's already basically in love with her and does everything to chase her. And that she accepts him even though FL rejects him because she has already changed her mind and decided that she no longer wants to go out with him after a single date (It should be emphasized that it is not that FL does not like ML, but that she wants to be single and that's it).

I love this novel. I like the fact that the female lead doesn't give a crap about the original female and male lead not unless they go against her. She also beat the system, literally.

Spoiler

Meng Chu has a system as makes her act as the supporting character or ex-fiancee in the original romance novel she transmigrated in. Meng Chu after having her engagement annulled, bought a villa, she started showing her hidden identity little by little that she is a famous singer and songwriter, then she suddenly buys an entertainment company, finds a gold mine in her villa, and somewhere in between she learned how to be a pilot, she also invested in some movies, did an endors**ent, watched a meteor shower, and in-between all of that was drama with the original female lead and multiple scandals saying that she likes fresh meat'. The romance of Meng Chu is extremely slow-paced, she doesn't even know that CEO is actually near her, and even in love with her

This novel is of similar quality as "Transmigrated into a Mary Sue Novel" but without any of the fun and comprehensibility. Really, this novel is nigh unreadable. Conversations are structured as both regular dialogue and script format (like "character A: [line]" and "character A said, '[quote]'"). Grammar and sentence structures are also ignored to such a degree that a MTL can only take so much of the blame. I genuinely can't tell when characters are talking in a group chat or speaking verbally. I sometimes can't even figure out who... more>> is talking to who. For a story that has little action and a LOT of dialogue, this is a huge detriment to the understanding and enjoyment of the story.

Of course, as mentioned in the previous reviews, logic is thrown out the window. I doubt that this is a spoof or parody of mary sue novels, because the tone of the story is played pretty straight when the MC isn't faceslapping. Even if you're looking for an easy and lighthearted read, you'll have a tough time keeping up with the ridiculous plot developments here. It's one thing to write a novel that plays clichés and tropes straightforwardly as fun indulgence, but it's another to do the same but act like the MC is a well-written, reasonable, not-at-all-a-power-fantasy-slash-self-insert kind of character. You'll be better off with other light reads than this.

Spoiler

And I still can't say why nor when the ML fell in love with the FL. Like, I get the MC is beautiful, a great singer, attractive, pretty, and uhhhhh alluring but, that's it? She never came across as particularly witty in front of the ML either from what I can recall and I'm already on ch101. Dude fell in love with her looks and hot body, let's not pretend otherwise.._.

[collapse]

Edit:
Spoiler

System: get married

Meng Chu: ok where's the closest single guy around here

And that's how Meng Chu decided to marry Lu Jingan, aka ML. There wasn't even an attempt at courtship or flirting between the two on Meng Chu's part. *Facepalm*

There is no common sense in this story, the continuity is pretty bad too. It's not a bad read if you just want to waste time. Even the system is weird and unpolished. There are so many aspects in the story that are just there but never polished at all. Like, she got a compensation for breaking the engagement and it was 1 billion (RMB?) Anyway way too much. The money aspect of this story is out of wack.

It has a great premise but has fallen short with the actual writing.

While sure the MC became all powerful and all, it just seems lacking.

The love, chemistry between the ML and MC is also dry. Like a scorching desert. Especially on MC's feelings. Their interactions really are like friends.

OML and OFL 's end is satisfying though. They deserve it.

Recommended to those who don't like complicated novels. It's nice but I always feel that the story lacked something. Esp in the romance part. I know it's a subplot but please address it nicely. I was left wondering how they fell in love with each other. The ML is likeable though. He's not my yandere type fave but he's funny. He can act like he's an ordinary person so he'll fit MC's criteria for husband's. He's cute and pretty s*upid. The story was quite fast paced for me. I got... more>> dizzy from jumping here to here.

What's good about this was that the original FP and MP acts like annoying cannon fodders but they all changed for the better; before everything is irreparable. They separated in the end. <<less

I find this boring. Even though I turned off my logic abd let myself enjoy the cliche and overused plot and lines it's still a meh for me. Probably because of how it was translated or how it was being written? It's kind of boring.

I find it lacking in terms of details and just the whole narration of the situation and thoughts. I mean there are a lot of cliche and overused tropes out there but some still manage to stand out because the author skillfully wrote them.

Anyway, that's just... more>> my opinion. Maybe if you're new into CN josei novels, you might find yourself enjoying this one. <<less
