Shi Yunnan was sent out of the country by his parents since he was young, and lived like an unloved child, but he still played around wantonly and relied on his appearance to make trouble~

As a result, he was deceived by his elders into returning home and was informed that he was about to marry the young master of the Luo family.

“What kind of feudalistic ideology is this? It’s outrageous!”

Shi Yunnan packed his luggage that night, planning to escape the next day, but when he fell asleep, he dreamed of a terrible scenario——

He dreamed that his life was just a supporting character in a book. Because he didn’t get along with the protagonist who transmigrated into the book, he eventually ended up in a situation of being forsaken by everyone.

All tragedies began with this willful escape from marriage.

After waking up, Shi Yunnan hadn’t had the time to let everything sink in when he was blocked at the door of his own house——

“Second young master Shi thinks that our Luo family is not worthy of you?”

The man in front of him had a heavenly face, his temperament was abstinent and outstanding. His whole body was wrapped in luxurious outfits. Even those long legs, which relied on wheelchairs, wildly shook second young master Shi’s aesthetic point.

Sigh, I’m a good boy who listens to his parents and matchmakers!

Shi Yunnan pretended to be reserved for three seconds, then nodded like a chicken pecking on rice, “Worthy, of course, you’re worthy! Is the wedding banquet ready? Husband~”

The man stared at his smiling face and answered subtly, “Let’s do it this evening.”

I liked how the MC is not dependent on the ML, they both know how to take care of themselves, they have their own careers and each one takes care of their own problems. They know that if they need it, their partner will be there right away to help.

I also really liked that not all of MC's family were crazy people who only thought about money, I loved the relationship he has with his brother.

I only read one of the extras. The first four extras are about the past,... more>> the 5th was the one I read and is a year after what happens in the last chapter. The others didn't go to see what it was about.

AND we readers gets to know everything from early on but MC is in the dark) (T0T) that whole scene was so emotional

I'll start by mentioning one thing that kind of bugged me - they constantly run into fights. Sure, their families (aka The Villains) are always plotting and doing bad things, but it doesn't stop there. Wherever MC goes - to the countryside, to a restaurant, to the nightclub, to buy a present, to work, to auction, etc. - there will always be some sort of conflict and almost always it will involve some sort of violence. I found that unnecessary and a bit off-putting.

Now, regarding their misunderstandings... they are not... more>> that bad. The ones I hate the most are when protagonists misunderstand each other, but try to avoid talking about it and keep them growing inside their hearts. But this MC doesn't pretend that everything is OK. He is visibly upset, gets drunk, ignores messages, etc. and thanks to that ML sees that something is wrong and resolves the misunderstanding ASAP. He should talk to ML instead of running away? Well, sorry, but I wouldn't want to make myself feel like a clown either, if I was in that situation. Also, it would be very OOC for this MC, considering all of his life experience.

And ML lost composure only when he was at his most vulnerable, right after

Spoiler

MC's grandpa asked him whether he can protect his beloved without relying on bodyguards, and he had to admit to himself that he is incapable of doing what a normal lover/husband should do, making him feel like he is robbing MC of happiness and safety that MC would have if he was with someone else.

[collapse]

Personally, I feel it's hypocritical to expect characters to not make mistakes under those circumstances. Nor would it be good writing to have protagonists that start out perfect, with no room for character development. Anyway, this is just my opinion. <<less

It's cliché and in parts very problematic.

MC is, of course, perfect in every way.
ML is the overbearing CEO.
There's barely anything else to them, it's copy-pasted from every face-slapping Novel ever.
Their relationship is juvenile, ML loved MC for years but never bothered to tell him, MC finally develops feelings for him but gives up due to a misunderstand and behaves like a pouting child instead of talking to him like an adult.
Resolution? Random "emergency situation" so ML can come to the rescue, and they confess to each... more>> other like it was a matter of life and death (it wasn't).

Villains all have one brain cell, some make trouble for the MC again and again, like they forgot what happened the other 20 times.

The family drama is over the top and completely unnecessary, it goes so far that it's just not believable anymore.

Biggest problem, ML's disability is constantly shown as something that makes him less than other people, even less capable at caring for his partner, and an important aspect of the story is his desperate attempt to cure it.

I know that disabilities are viewed very negatively in China, their mentality hasn't evolved since the Middle Ages, but I can't in good conscience overlook this massive problem.
Yes, it's a cultural difference, and while I do think that no one has an excuse not to think for themselves and develop their own views, which includes understanding that a simple disability like not being able to walk says zero about your capabilities, I don't fault the author for portraying it like this.
But, readers should be aware of this point, I for one likely wouldn't enjoy the story just based on this alone even if the rest would have been better, which sadly isn't the case.

I wouldn't recommend it, but if you don't have a problem with the disability aspect and like stories that follow the typical living-in-a-book-face-slapping formula, then this novel isn't worse than the other 100 on this website. <<less

This is a fairly straightforward and fluffy novel without any real angst. If you're looking for an easy healing read after having read too much tragedy, this is a good choice. It's one of the better married-to-a-disabled-rich-guy novels out there. There's an annoying family, but they're whatever. MC was an abandoned son who was recalled by his family in order to fulfill a marriage contract, which he initially planned to abscond from. However, he dreams that he's a cannon fodder and had a horrible death after running away, so he decides to stay and change his fate. Just his luck, because he nets himself a hot hubby and a little nephew at the same time.

ML is your typical cold president with secret self esteem issues, nothing extraordinary here. The real gem of the novel is their little nephew. He's a little bubby, so cute.

Spoiler

And of course ML's legs are cured at the end of the novel. He has a white moonlight, but there's no surprises that it's MC since it's in the synopsis of the novel.

I'm usually very generous with my ratings, but for this one I'll have to say sorry, I cannot.

I won't be writing a very lengthy and extremely detailed review, but am just going to give summaries about the characters and overall plot.

THE MC:

He's actually good. Like, totally someone I'd love to read about. Lazy temperament, proactive, open to communication, carefree. He's like a breath of fresh air, a rose among the common little flowers. I adore him. Yes, he's extremely beautiful, OP and nothing a real human can be, but let's... more>> be real here, we read fictional text to escape reality, not to find realism.

THE ML:

He was the kind of person I would empathize with and maybe even love if his character was handled properly. Basically, his legs are damaged and he has to use a wheelchair. Now, this disability of his is not a flaw.

The problem is that, he is extremely cold and unreasonable. He's the kind of person that you'd like to punch and slap.

He loved MC for many years but when MC confessed, he rejected. Why? Because he was crippled. Wow. Real mature way to do it. Then he acted like a tsundere.

NOW ONTO THE PLOT:

the MC returned from abroad (where he was sent at his early years by his paternal family (basically thrown out)) and just as he had stepped in and had say for dinner just a while later in the first or second chapter, his family unreasonably asked him to marry the master of Luo family (The Ml's brother (the real marriage partner was ml's brother and not the ML himself but the brother ran away from the marriage)). The MC was angry and went to his room. That night, he dreamt of the original book and saw his character living the tragic fate.

Will add more later.

1/5; great MC but not recommended.

Edit: and to those who are bugged by my one star rating and review, sorry but people do have something called preference. Not all my ratings are one star and, reviews too. I usually just rate but sometimes write reviews when I'm either very frustrated or very happy with the novel. <<less

A sweet story. I've MTLed it a while go. The MC dreamed he was in a book, and if he continued the original course of actions, his future would be very bleak. So instead, when the ML came to propose marriage, he agreed rather than running away.

The ML looked like a major tsundere, but basically

Spoiler

he had secretly loved the MC for many years - the MC was his white moonlight, and he was just feeling awkward because he was disabled and didn't want the MC to pity him. Also, toward the end, during rehabilitation, once he snapped at the MC when he wanted to help him. The MC thought the ML didn't like him, but it was because again, he didn't want the MC to see him so weak before he regained both his legs. He literally adored the MC.

[collapse]

Edit - as to the person who rated it 1 star, don't worry about them, most of their BL reviews are 1 and 2 stars. The book is good, give it a go. <<less

A face-slapping novel with BL on the side. Every 3-5 chapters, you'll hear the pa! sound of a face getting slapped either in a banquet, conference room, or hospital corridor.

5/5 if this is your thing. However the writing is childish and repetitive. Don't come for art or fluff. I suspect the author wrote this as retaliation against society or something; must've been under a lot of stress that needed to be vented.

Gawd, the plot was so clunky, tacky and a big disjointed mess of cliche. I can't bear to read another chapter.

It's all just a cycle of MC going someplace and being plotted against, then he showed his smarts and the ML always appeared after the reversal to add weight to the MC.

It's okay if the author only used that strategy once or twice, but I'm at chapter 18 and it's already used thrice. It seemed like there won't be any change soon because maybe the author was out of plot... more>> ammo.

Also, I don't like this MC's personality. A casual and promiscuous flirt who didn't even think twice about jumping into ori!plot's mandated events despite his foreknowledge about them and hurting ML with his unapologetically casual remarks about ML's legs or downplaying ML's seriousness about their 'flash marriage' into something akin to a joint venture with one-sided benefit. Even I as a passerby reader could see that there's no way a guy would be that good to their casual marriage partner.

At this point, neither the MC was bearable nor the plot not cringy enough to stay.

Worse, the novel's depiction of ML's disability. MC and everyone else always made it a point that they had to make a remark about his legs every few chapters and saying it in the most casual or sarcastic ways they could. I wish MC and the sides could've shut their traps about the wheelchairs or doubting ML's work ability or saying tacky s*xual jokes. The MC said that he didn't mind ML's disability but he did otherwise, judging by the things he just 'jokingly' said to ML. Hell, I wouldn't do such a rude thing even to a stranger, much less to someone who has treated me that good. It's simply ungratefully impolite. I'm already annoyed by his loose mouth as if it'd kill him to be anything less than a jerk to someone who treated him sincerely.

If I'm ML's dead older sibling, I would've haunt everyone in their dreams and slapped this MC far away from entering our family registry. <<less

ML lashed out on MC because MC insisted on helping him and didn't quite know how to give him space. Later, ML apologized and wanted to talk it out with MC. MC already had a hunch ML liked him back but MC refused to have a proper conversation and instead avoided ML like the plague. This is gonna be exhausting and annoying lol. The "they-wanted-to-talk-but-kept-getting-interrupted" in the earlier chapters certainly didn't help with my annoyance.

edit:

i was gonna write "watch either of them get hurt and then they will actually talk",... more>> I skipped 2 chapters (?) and I was right help me lmao. Gonna drop this because with the way they communicate MC will only find out about him being ml's crush in the last ten chapters or something. <<less

Whats with the low rating? Ignore the ratings and just read it for yourself to see if this novel really deserves the 3.9 rating. If you want a spicy MC with personality and a stoic but secretly obsessed ML then this is the novel for you! I love the writing of the author and the way she made MC’s personality great!

3.5 ⭐ It was okay, not mad I read it, but won't read again.

The villians are comically 1 dimensional, and the mini villians are even worse. I literally laughed at the mini villian in the New York restaurant.

The relationship between the leads are pretty shallow, and many of the agnsty parts could have been avoided if ML just communicated more.

Not a fan of the Uncle and Grandpa, they could have done more for little MC. MC forgave him them too easily in my opinion. Also how did the grandpa have... more>> the guts to question MLs protection when grandpa didn't ever do anything to protect MC. I did like that he had a good relationship with his brother. Never did say why the Shi family hated MC so much.

The middle of the story was boring and spent a lot of time on insignificant things. So many chapters in NY waiting for ML surgery.

The thing I hate the most, but is common in Chinese novels is the hate for the fat and disabled. Many of the villians are fat and what's wrong with ML having disabled legs?! Don't get me wrong I'm happy he could stand at the end but so much hate for his legs, like it made him less of a person.

The lil nephew stole my heart, he is worth all the stars.

Translation was great and MTL from chapter 55 was easy to understand <<less

the story itself is fine, if cliched. The MC is smart and managed to find his way out of trouble every time. Face slapping galore.

the novel suffers from the typical BL “all women are villains” syndrome (basically every woman is scheming, evil, small minded etc except MC’s mother who is dead and a 2 random side characters. Those with a bigger role to play are evil.)

The constant violence got too much for me. I'm dropping it at this point. Half the characters should be in jail already for all the physical assaults they keep committing. A body guard also doesn't have a free pass to just hurt people. They're supposed to prevent that?? Honestly, I was expecting dogblood, but I cant suspend my disbelief any longer.

Other than that, the story was okay. I loved the interactions with ml's nephew. He was my favorite character.

Sweet story, with MC living freely, pursuing his interests, not letting anyone walk over him - not even ML... MC & ML sort out their relationship pretty early on and thus, providing lot of fluff, especially in the latter half of the story. Not much of miscommunications or s*upid misunderstandings between the two - if at all, they are resolved soon enough - by actually talking to each other!

As per the norm, people MC makes friends with are all good people, antagonists are usually s*upid; the friction/confrontations are at times... more>> really unnecessary, and more like there just to give MC/ML chance to show their power and face-slap people...

All in all, a sugary-entertaining read... <<less

(very curious of the synopsis and ends up mtl the whole novel and finish it in a day (with all nighter) lmao)

Very nice and have a nice plotline. MC probably one of my favourite character, he seems like a slacker yet he actually works hard, doesn't have jealousy at those that sincerely like/love him and treats other well yet isn't s*upid and if others bully him he will fight back but not in a reckless way. ML is also very sweet and there's only couple small misunderstanding between... more>> them. Side characters is honestly top notch, have character and isn't a plain canvas. 10/10 recommended. <<less

Thank you translators for picking this up! I was so tempted by the cute premise that I went straight to MTL (which was readable, but incomplete in places). So will definitely read the translations! It's an adorable novel, our little fox is too cute. Plus there is some face-slapping, but our fox has a moral compass, so nothing that will make you uncomfortable.

Oh my god. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that this is the healthiest Chinese BL I've read. Seriously.

    1. Luo Linsheng is like the most understanding gong ever. He's possessive but not an obsessive yandere, encourages SYN to be successful and stand on his own feet, wants what's good for him even if it's not always good for himself (like the whole if his legs don't get better then let SYN be free/live a good life without being tied down thing). I'm so tired of yandere semes so this is such a refreshing change of pace.
    2. Shi Yunnan is a real person and not just a shou. He has a life outside of his gong. He has relationships that matter outside of his gong. He has ideas and thoughts and ambitions outside of... You get the point XD
    3. Both of them have a social circle outside of each other, and that's something realistic and healthy.
    4. Not all "anti" characters are brainless and irredeemable (YR grew to become my favourite supporting character)
    5. Xiao. Jin. Yu. Enough said.
So what if the face slapping is on the cliche side? So what if the MC/ML were OP? So what if some of the villains' actions were utterly s*upid and made them sooooo boring as characters? So what if literally all the main, supporting and villain characters were gay? It was fun anyway and all of that is nothing compared the existence of a rare genuinely healthy BL that I found even these trivial issues attractive.

(I know this says something about CBL in general but... Let's not go there.)

It's fine. MC is smart while ML is overbearing. The antagonists are not that much of a threat. They're not braindead but the MCs kinda solved the problems smoothly.

The romance is quite slow but obvious. We know they both have feelings for each other from the very beginning, so it's only a matter of confessing. Because we know this, the misunderstandings in the story are kinda s*upid and a pain to read.

The story is basically dragged out by melodrama. ML used to stalked and knows almost everything about MC, which... more>> is weird. It's not parallel with the og plot and ML even know some of his secrets.

The kid is annoying tbh. He's too involved in everything. I think the author wanted to make him smart and sensible but got backfired to me.

I don't like the side couples. It doesn't add anything to the story and I want to focus more on the MCs and the retaliation. <<less
