I mainly think the the reason for the weird places is the lack of detail or no explanations (and perhaps the writing style). Since the novel has some rich family drama, you'd expect some scheming and plotting in the novel. There is scheming, but I don't understand why. Also, the writing style or just the way the author wrote the last few scenes made the story's ending really anticlimactic.

The phone case scene made me squeal, such a thoughtful gift!

MC's father like *sob sob* I cried a lot for his scenes tbh. Second and third chances are really important to people and it was so heart-wreching to see him really try to restrain and change himself for MC, OG body, and Wen. I had a lot of thoughts and feelings when reading his parts but I don't know how to put it into words and would even maybe write an essay just for a novel review lmao so I'll stop here rn (like seriously, if not cry, then my heart would clench when I reading it- or maybe I'm just too soft for those who really put effort in changing and improving themselves from their past selves)

The author likes to use heavy themes, but whether because MC is too apathetic or it's an author issue, the way they're treated feels very tone deaf.

• Parental Abuse - The original MC's father is abusive and seems to have anger issues, and seems to be an alcoholic. He does decide to start seeing someone for his issues, but the problem is that everyone seems to treat his behavior as something acceptable or easily forgivable. It's like the author has amnesia about him. When they need to react to the abuse, they react appropriately, but outside of those scenes they just treat him as a normal "friend's parent". That's not how it works! The only people who seem to actually behave realistically are the Zhou parents, who threaten to sue (I'm guessing should be press charges?) him and beat him up. Which leads to-
• su*cide - The Qian dad gets drunk and threatens to commit su*cide the night after Zhou dad beats him up because he can't take the shame of admitting that he was an abusive piece of shit, but the concerning thing is how the author has the MC respond to this. Author is very firmly on the "suicidal people just don't appreciate their life enough!" stance regarding su*cide, but when combined with the "Sure, he was abusive, but it's not like he can't change and just better himself and then everything will be fine" rhetoric, it can make the scene difficult to get through. I personally could feel my blood pressure spiking and giving me a headache even while I was trying to skim through this section.
• Mental Health - This straddles the line between being aware of mental health issues, and being very half assed when dealing with it. It gives off the impression of using mental health issues to needlessly 'spice up' the story, like those preteen fanfic authors who love to have the characters cut themselves to show how sad they are.
• BL Tropes - normally I wouldn't mind since I'm used to it, but combined with everything else, the yandere obsession, 'I want to cage him up', tallying grievances to take revenge thru excessive (possibly unwanted) s*x later, etc, just seems so much worse.

That's it for now, but yeah, this series isn't exactly friendly to anyone who isn't completely mentally healthy and strong willed.

that the MC is the "second personality" of the body. That covers up for things he doesn't know, and explains what he does. This was the first time I'd seen that excuse used.

there is a point where the MC wonders if the ML is being nice to him because he derailed the plot and maybe the ML is actually bi and it just depended on who rescued him.

Also ML finding out MC's identity and he lied to him but didn't flip out or anything but just accept him right away , I like him even more
