Spoiler

The ending was a big 'wait thats the end!?'

Sometimes the MC is literally just a backup character and honestly its interesting on how a small change in the story turned into a butterfly effect. ML sometimes pops in the story at the middle like a background character xD you really be wouldnt predict it until they appear. Sometimes he can be seen at the start, middle or when the problem has already solved itself.

Theres already a hint on who the ML and MC were. It was casually thrown in a few interaction with the system before going to the next world but never truly expounded. That hint later comes back and be confirmed at the end but honestly that wasnt enough but the same time I kinda sorta get it.

Spoiler

basically past life cliches and these missions by the MC is something that helps the ML too. Turns out ML is mc's boss in this system world

[collapse]

Honestly a lot of the plots of the stories here can be expounded more. I love the plot settings

The novel was good though sometimes even the MC felt like a background character. But the ending was too adrupt and like a shock. Means seriously we didn't even get to know who the ML was and we didn't even properly know about the MC's past.I even scrolled down many times to check that it was really the last chapter.

The final arc was my favorite, with the return to 1980’s one almost making me quit. The family is so patriarchal it makes sense to me how the female villain started out the way she did, and with this being a BL novel you see a lot of this theme being repeated throughout the novel where only the submissive and/or maternal women (mostly to the MC) are happy and everyone else are just 2-D villains. This character was just annoying to me and almost ruined this novel for me and... more>> I just skipped through this arc.

The story also felt incomplete with a lot of plot holes and the backstories of the MC and ML glossed over. I did really like the last arc the most though, even with the way it had a lot going on and the other arcs before it weren’t bad either, even with the weird almost pedophilia adjacent stuff. I’d rate it a 3.5, something to read when you don’t have a lot of other options and don’t want to think too much. Also, the translator comments takes you out of the immersion, but it is more readable than mtl so it didn’t bother me too much, but your mileage may vary there. <<less

Umm..... I went in with somewhat high expectations (as high as expectations could go with QT novels).

After one arc my thoughts are: the story's time is a mess, it goes back and forth a lot and I don't know the timeline of the events clearly. The worldview itself is warped, toxic and biased/childish. No one is sane, tbh. Maybe Xia Ming and his baby sister is sane, but everyone else is a little bit of crazy. Author's writing does whatever they feel like, whenever they feel like. Everything falls into... more>> place simply because cuteness is justice. Author can't decide what message they want to impart.

.

TL, DR: My issue with this story is: messy timeline, characters make no sense, villains exist just to disgust readers, overdramatic plot points, barely there romance. As I read on I can actually feel my worldview twisting with it so I dropped it.

.

Let's break it down:....... vv SPOILERS! vvv

  1. MC: Author wants us to think he's smart, professional, kind, whatever good quality. Point is, I don't care about him or what he wants to do, there's no reason to. Everything goes well for him just 'cause which means no drama. All of his "smartness" really doesn't hold water if you think about it more than one second. The title makes no sense, in no way was the MC (host or the body) was a villain, at any point in the story.
  2. ML: failed to sustain romantic line after Xia Ming entered the picture. I rooted for Xia Ming harder than I root for the actual CP, so it's a problem right away. As time goes on, the romance line is SO THIN. So THIN that I persisted through the first arc to see the ending for the two supporting characters.
  3. Do you feel like you hate the mom? Well, that's because she is hateable, what makes things confusing is author gave her totally opposite sets of character, so she's really weak and dependant, immature and selfish, but also strong minded and vengeful, capable and selfless.
  4. The original male protagonist: Whenever you think he can't fall lower than this, he will show you just what it means to be human tr^sh. In the first timeline, everyone laughs off his romantic and se>< rumors, for god knows what reason. He was so untouched and supreme in the 1st life that his fall in 2nd life sounds s*upid.
  5. Original female protagonist: I don't know where her twisted logic comes from. She reads like antithesis of all "rural kids are pure and good" and "rural girls are so poor because of the misogyny", as if the author wants to say: rural girls can be scheming, crude, and lacking in education, just like the stereotype! I have definitely seen people like this, but they are internalising all the similar messages in their peers, not just one random stranger they don't even like... It's very systematic, you more or less mirror the environment you grow up in. And usually after experiencing setbacks they learn and grow. It seems like she had learnt her lesson after repeated setbacks and finding out the world doesn't revolve around her, it was a good ending to her arc tbh. But then the author just had to bring her back to further taint everyone's eyes. It made a very unsatisfying, icky ending. Also, that monologue on the plane: this teen girl somehow thinks that an adult stewardess giving blanket to teenage boys is because she's seducing them... BRUH. Her brain is too active, and her every move or thoughts are just written to be as bad and delusional as it can be.
  6. Xia Ming: I don't have beef with him, with all the crazies in that arc he seems like the most Okay bachelor in the country. MC should be with him tbh, or Lin Cuimiao should be with him.
.

The thing that bothered me a lot:

He has this alarm system using freezer, if you just think about it for more than one second, it falls apart: for the water to melt down to let the coin drop, the freezer has to be off for more than one hour, and when it does, it will drop down more than a few inches. AND like I said it will take so much time so someone would have noticed. If the intruder had spent so much time in the house already, why don't they just do what they wanted to do in the first place???

In this world, they can just hire underworld thugs from a site, what does he put in baidu to get the site? Outlaws and criminals who can do crimes for me for money? is accessing the underworld just like ordering food online now?

Oh, oh, and the tightly guarded little fool who had gained even more guards and nannies after coming back from the countryside..... can just run out with no one noticing or following, what are the workers doing????

.

I don't know if the other arcs are good, but I've seen enough from just one arc. It's not about the story, it's about the storytelling and overall moral. Besides the romance comes off like something a 4 year old would write, just make two people make googly eyes at each other and make them kiss, that's a love story there.

The translation on KnoxT surprised me because I used to have good impression of the site's translators. Translator leaves notes throughout chapters, there are random capitals letters for no reason at all, and added/deleted words from the original raw. It really reads like edited MTL, and the translator even asked at one point if they should rewrite one of the chapters even though it's not a faithful TL that way.

Makes me doubt further if what I read was faithful at all right now. When I read the raw, the characters distinctly are not as loud or EMOTIONAL as in the translated version. <<less

i agreed with some reviews here that the MC and ML time is really short and fast paced. Also, it is really good that just the first arc can be separated already because it is long enough with so many details which is good but kinda bad because it gets kinda boring but well. And as the normal qt novels there's little information and highlights that he is a tasker, there's no such system to or lord god or whatevs. It's really like what a normal person would do that... more>> the MC do. <<less

It isn't bad, it really isn't. The worldview is twisted, yes, but it's fine I guess?

The main problem is that that MC or ML doesn't get enough exposure. We see what's happening from MC's pov but it's NOT exactly him. It's like MC is not MC anymore and we hardly know enough about him.

ML, let's not even start. He doesn't get half the screentime a side character gets. It contains literally a pinch amount of romance, and I'm bothered and I'm not even a romance fan.

This novel had so much... more>> potential, it really did. But, unfortunately, aside from the MC, all the other characters felt like paper people, extremely 2D. The MC too, after he goes too in character. It's sad since he seemed really interesting.

2/5: nice world building in the later world's. Nice MC and adoptive father. <<less

I completed this novel and gotta say it's an okay novel, the plots in each ark are great, the background building is good, some characters were made well and most of all, the novel doesn't surround the MC all the time. Honestly, for me who mostly read 3rd point of view, this perfectly shows what it means literally.

For people who want the MC to have more screen time then this is not recommended since the author didn't really give the MC too much presence but still let the readers know... more>> they are spectating and is still online to his surroundings, he also shows up when he is needed.

Sometimes it gets frustrating though since the main characters thoughts are rarely described.

There isn't much dog food (unconsciously or not showing off love) between the main couple and like, ugh, the ML have too little scenes that I nearly forgot him, which makes me kinda sad.

It also doesn't seem to be finished but okay, I'm chill.. Not QAQ

Spoiler

It's best if you get warned since the story depicts of many disturbing ideas but fairly realistic like pedophilia, crooked suggestions and views, killing, excessive controlling, etc.,

You see the title? Yes, that is exactly what you get, but with a bonus of sadness and romance.

The MC is really cute and levelheaded (internally). He plays his role well and is really likable.

The ML is well, nice. So far, he isn't overbearing and like other ML's. The MC and ML don't have too much interactions but when they are interacting, it's very cute.

... more>> The side characters aren't very bad either. The guardian characters are especially good.

The villain's are pretty much incompetent and don't have much story to them.

Overall, 8.5/10. It'd be full 10/10 if the villain's were more competent. <<less

actually... the novel is not bad, it's just... it's quite boring as the author unnecessarily lengthens the stories, I'm barely in the second arc but basically I can see that the MC must always reincarnate into a child for the plot becomes long enough while the reader waits for it to grow, which is not consistent with the "rapid transmigration" genre but rather with a normal novel, those of us who are fans of the genre seek to see several stories and varied worlds in one Just a story, it's... more>> supposed to be something quick and short, if we wanted something so tedious to read, we'd read an ordinary novel, so I don't know what to say... 🤷

I haven't read enough to call the story bad but With how slow everything is, I don't think I'll take the time to read it completely to rate it, so I'll just give it a 2, which were my first impressions after reading 2 arcs. I think that the problem of age greatly limited the actions of the MC, I was a child so I couldn't do much, so the slaps were not so satisfactory for me, since they hardly had the intervention of the MC to act, I couldn't appreciate his talent and intelligence by completely counterattacking, so much so that the author made several characters in both one arc and the other reborn on purpose, so they took the MC's side and helped him, since he couldn't do much. The villains' ending felt more like karma rather than justice or revenge, it was something caused by their own decisions; Although that satisfies some readers, to me, no, I do not believe that such evil, despicable and mu*derous characters do not deserve to be punished in person, on the contrary, I think it is better if the protagonist himself does it, they have the right to do things in person, against the protagonist but the protagonist can only take revenge indirectly??? That karma nonsense that the Chinese like to preach doesn't work for me, I'm more of an eye for an eye 😆

Many secondary characters deserve to repent for their mistakes and pay for them, they were cruel for no reason to the original body, and the idea is supposed to be to avenge the original body who died full of resentment, right? Take Yin Jiyu for example, he He mu*dered his cousin just to make the reborn girl happy, he's crazy! The original body just met the girl for the first time when he found out that he was not the son of the Yin family, he had just seen her, he never did anything bad to her, it was the crazy woman who was obsessed with him, Yin Yiyu knows that she never liked him. He did nothing bad to the girl, who just met, but to make her happy he decides to kill him, this character deserves a tragic ending and the original body deserves justice against him. But the fact that the MC transmigrates to when the original body is a little boy always, ALWAYS gives ALL the secondary characters like that the opportunity to redeem themselves and do nothing against the MC over the years, and even fall in love with the MC 🙄 🙄🙄

I mean, no matter how much damage they have done to the original body, they will never pay for it, as long as the MC continues to transmigrate to a child or even a baby... that is why I say that you cannot really appreciate a counterattack or the true intelligence of the MC, it is very easy to change everything when you start from the beginning, just make the opposite decisions to those made by the original body and that's it!!! <<less

Deserves 3 stars, the 4 was a misclick. I enjoyed it but god the ending is so abrupt I feel so dissatisfied. I found some novelty in some of the arcs but the end didn't live up to my expectations. Also MC felt like a background character sometimes.
Spoiler

for example the last arc with the super hero plotline was rly intriguing and I haven't seen that in transmigration stories before. But the ending was so abrupt and the Sky City element wasn't properly explained in my opinion.

[collapse]

And then the huge age difference between the ML and MC in almost every arc was rly weird I didn't like that.

Spoiler

like why is the MC always a child and the ML at the LEAST a young adult?? In the end it's implied the ML raised MC in wtv cultivation world they originated from? Weird. And the history between them wasn't explained at all. Is the ML the big boss who's asleep? They never say. How did MC know ML in each world? They barely showed him truly thinking about whether this was the ML that followed him. MC would just bam get into a relationship with someone. And they also barely showed scenes of them together in love or pursuing each other, sometimes the ML and MC would get together at the very very end of the arc, almost like an afterthought.

[collapse]

When it comes to the MC feeling like a background character:

Spoiler

So many arcs where the MC just lives his life and the original protagonist f*cks up their life on their own. MC will at best do some behind the scenes manipulation but the og protagonists were always so dumb and vindictive for no reason that it barely required any involvement. And why were the villains almost always women? (A common trope in these type of stories but still annoying)

[collapse]

Originally would've given it higher if the ending just had a few more chapters tying up loose ends. I ended it saying "that's it??"

There were times I really enjoyed this but more often I felt confused and disappointed.

Just finished this novel, it was such a good read!! The MC is depicted so cute and the scenes between the ML and him are really sweet~ I just wish they were longer. As others have said, the endings can be a bit abrupt! I love the arcs nonetheless, and I think the best arcs are actually the ones near the end, so don't be put off by the first arc!

I think the translation is fine tbh! I don't recall having trouble reading anything or misinterpreting anything (that I can... more>> think of), and the snippets the translator might've included seemed silly enough that I knew it wasn't actually part of the story, just a funny addition (like a mini-theatre). Overall a feel-good, lighthearted read~ <<less

Yeah, I dropped because I came for romance but in the first arc all I got was not even a paragraph of a confession scene during a time skip catch-up and also suddenly they are married a few sentences later after another time skip.

The earlier bits of the novel where pretty detailed (even boring once or twice) so my expectations were high and it hurt to much when it fell.

It's actually pretty decent quick transmigration but the author is too stingy on giving us sweetness though. Like jeez, the amount of MC's and ML's all dating scene combined might have not reached 2 chapter. Basically after the whole conflict is over, the author won't give it more time and goes straight the next arc. We were left only to see the s*upid villains making fool of themself and no sweet-sweet 'victory banquet'.

Talking about villains, damn the title are misleading. MC never took a villain role, the role he assigned... more>> to is more like cannon fodders. Though I do agree he somewhat act like a villain. The MC in this novel is very unsympathetic/unfeeling. Not very in psychotic kind of way but pretty close, covered up by his cute demeanor.
Spoiler

For example in arc 3, the 'protagonist' who is also MC's cousin, gave MC who is still a 9 years old a bunch of r-18 violent video tape, in an attempt to groom him into uneducated, savage thug like in his first life. Too slap her face, MC gladly 'influenced' by the brutal film and tortured a chicken for 100% effects.

[collapse]

While I do admit perhaps author have some questionable tendencies, I love the couple dynamics they made for each arc. Most of the time, MC is slightly more 'superior' than the gong male lead unlike most danmei. I love the male lead here as much as the main character. He is soo MILF, pretty much mothering MC in each arc LMAO.
Spoiler

God, especially the last arc. School Sweethearts to Sexy Secretary (ML) X Eloquent President of a Country (MC).

[collapse]

Anyway, good potential, but disappointing execution decision by the author. If author made a fanfic surrounding MC's and ML's live in each arc after the villains are solved, I would gladly give this a 5 stars review despite of it many shortcoming.

I think the author want to give it some 'literacy' feel with the romantic cliffhangers, especially at the end of the novel. But bruh, if you want to use it, please conscious of the nature of your novel. The story is just face slapping baganza like any other, with not even one moving scene, and you want to use that??

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. With the author decision to cut short every arc, many questions any mysteries are still left behind. Not to mention the arcs, even MC's and ML's background story are like, 4 paragraph, consisted of just basic information of their past life (first life) .
Spoiler

Hello? Not even an explanation why ML, who came from a cultivation world can be the master god of the system bureau, or what ever the name is? No story why MC can be a gold broker?? Not even an explanation why he is killed other than the most likely => average jealous people in cultivation world.

I won't give it stars yet because I don't have much impression toward the first arc I have finished reading.

The story is not bad, nor boring. But it wasn't exactly spectacular or intriguing either.

Sure it's truly nice and rare seeing MC being Spoiled by 2 Men, one ML, the other are NOT an 'ML' nor a Family Member. But the fact there's no Love Triangle or Conflict between them was Truly Nice!

But while the story was Standard and Nice, the relationship between MC and ML also too Ordinary. The Chemistry... more>> they have is because they Grow Close together since Teen-agers. And ML happen to grow to like MC more than 'expected' while the Other Man who also Spoiled MC just caring about MC like an Older Brother.

No Deep Meaning or Fluff Interaction between them expect in the very beginning and near the end of the first arc.

I don't know if the Author tried to make the story different from other QT novel but end up gave rather Flat Relationship or something.

I truly hope it was just on the 1st arc and will get better in the next. Let's pray someone continue the Translation! 🙏 <<less

The first arc is cute, and still waiting for the second arc to get translated (I don't want to read the mtl, they fry my braincells)

The story is cute and satisfying. There's nothing much going on, it's more like fluff and the reversal situation of the canon fodder.

It's a good read to quench your boredom ❤️ nothing serious so don't expect dramatic plot twists and story lines like other top tier qt novels.

But I can say that this is one of the qt novels that has realistic characters and... more>> plot. So give it a try ! ❤️ (And also kudos to the translator) <<less
