The red meteor shower rained across the sky, a black fog engulfed the world.

After waking from a night of torture and agony,

Humans discovered they no longer dominated the world.

—The hunters have become the hunted.

After the apocalypse, I struggled for survival for ten bitter years, but ultimately couldn’t escape death.

But when I opened my eyes again, I had transformed from an ordinary 35-year old woman into a beautiful young man of 18.

A different gender, a world that is both familiar yet not, an apocalypse that has vanished without a trace, and an unexpected return of 17 years of youth.

Looking around, I discovered I had a powerful, protective big brother and a gentle, charming little sister.

Just as things couldn’t possibly look any brighter—

The end of the world came crashing down again.

And this time around, is it fight? Or flight?

The 3 pages of 5 star ratings are ridiculous, this is a decent read and is honestly a little better than most novels listed on this site but that is not exactly a great achievement.

This novel feels like it needed to go through 2 or 3 turns of editing before being released, so much of it is just jarring. The personality changes of MC, though that could be the author trying to write about 2 people in 1 body in which case he does it badly to the endless jumping... more>> between her past life and his past life that seem to happen at any time, middle of fights or not.

The standard convoluted disagreement with his group is in this, he does something s*upid and group turns against him and he doesn't try to talk to them or do anything to fix it because he is so above them (all hail the glorious MC) then group would usually turn against him and MC would look "cleaner" morally, this sh*t is in every single novel on this site and it pisses me off to no end. This book did deal with it in a better way though but it took like 4 chapters of just wasting words.

A weird thing I noticed is some chapters seem to be written when the author is in a particular mood, happy, sad and whatnot. It's only noticeable on a few chapters but again this is kind of jarring.

This novel does the same thing as almost every other novel in the reincarnated back in time or into another persons body genre with the older experienced person jumping into a young persons body acting well like a kid while either they or the author talk about how wise and knowledgeable they are. Again this novel handles this slightly better than most novels on this site but it's still there.

This novel is decent and could become pretty good if some of the chapters got reworked but in no way is this a 5 star novel, not even by novelupdates standards. Not much if anything in this novel made me think "that was done really well", my biggest thought when reading this novel was "an attempt was made". It felt like the author was trying but failing to reach where she wanted to reach which again is still better than most novels on here but it's not enough. <<less

The plot is good but the protagonist become more irritating and s*upid like s*upid teens girls who daydreaming during fight more after the chapter. The scene keep changing from previous life to this life so much that I lost my patience and want to quit more than once. The protagonist also become more airheaded that she almost want to attack 400 fully armed (include rocket launcher) which would be s*upid mistakes. She behave like mother Theresa during apocalypse and once she argued with audience when she killed her robber which... more>> is silly and hypocrite. I think a lot of decision are s*upid made by her. She also always only speak important point which can avoid misunderstanding inside her head ONLY. Plot which she think she wasn't real brother of Jiang also repeated more than twice in the story it get s*upid like she found another her (Guan Wuanjin) in this space and insist to marry her so he can call her mother mom and give her siblings their real brother (she insisted the girl is the real Jiang shuyu) smh... She sometimes can separate the space but sometimes can't which is author fault or indecision. I would rate it 2 star for world background and plot + characters (support characters) I hate main character. <<less

what can be wrong with Yu Wo? Nothing!

it can be said that the first series that opened my eyes to Chinese novel is 1/2 prince by Yu Wo. As always she make a wonderful job stringing the character together and as always the translator group bringing their best ability to change the joke into English, so that it retain the humor that make it Yu Wo's work. This series is not your typical zombie apocalypse genre. The main character is a female who somehow got transported into a new world in form of a bishounen. She who in need of prince charming to save her life in the past world, swear to dao of heaven.. Err.. To herself that she won't be damsel-in-distress anymore (which of course she won't because now its a 'he').
Spoiler

In the new world, she got a new family and life happily ever after. Just kidding, this series is so awesome that even after their (the new family) display of affection, our heroine is still in doubt, because so much hurt she got in the last world. But slowly they interact with the heroine and regain the heroine's trust.

[collapse]
TLDR: comedy, little angst, zombie, and special power

just because sometime novelupdate not displaying my rating.

PS:
After all my rambling, there's one thing I hate about this series, which is it's update T.T *crying* it only updated 1 chapter every month. *Sniffle* I know that as a leecher, I should be grateful which indeed I am. The group bought the novel, taking their precious time to translate this, and still keeping the quality for free. So shout out to PrinceRevolution translation group for their effort and hardwork!

One of the major, letdown, ever.

The firstV is amazing, the best relationsheep between characters Ive ever read, one of the most realistic and scary struggle scene Ive readen, you may think, HOPE, for this story to be a realistic struggling apocalypse story, with a good power system and all.

And... No.

Just another ''cute'' lovelydovely free lax apocalypse. Safe fights that are by no way sudden or unexpected, fights, that you know who is going to win, no struggle, no 'amazing fighting scenes' as some may say and rate. Nothing of that,... more>> just safe fights (that at first glance may seem dangerous and all, but, if you have ton of extra supp, you can choose your opponent and ambush it (and success on the ambush) its in fact, not dangerous) cute scenes, and thats its.

MC hides his strenght for reasons (yeah, sure if nobody expect noting from you, you could ambush them easily, but considering they are 2 tiers below you with no knowledge of the crystals, ¿what are you afraid of? Ridiculous. Sooner or later ull have to show off your strenght due to external reasons) its just a 'hide strenght' shit.

He doesnt train his sister even though its the most obvious thing to do (if you have an op sister that you care a lot, and you are afraid of r*pe ¿aint it obvious to train her? Are you an idiot?)

s*upid MC. No struggle. Nonsence actions. Lovelydovely family. Lax apocalypse. Steryotipical characters seems to come. Action is meh. For some reason MC wanted to marry with his paralel original self and I still dont know why. Op tree (that is pretty much nonsence considering that most things have an actual explanstion while that tree is 'for some reason it can shrunk and get bigger')

If you want a lax lovely dovely apocalypse this may be for you, but not for me, I prefer an story with an actual struggle. <<less

7 years ago, I gave this a 5 and now it's a 3. Why? 7 years ago Chinese novels were very fresh and new to me while now it's stale and formulaic. So that's the biggest downfall of this novel - the once per year volume/translation. It cannot keep up with the high speed nature of online novels - this is not a once a century miracle like Harry Potter where people wait with bated breath for every release. This is just an ordinary webnovel with non unique ideas. Maybe... more>> this was unique 7 years ago, but dragging on like this? It is washed out.

Second, as I said before online novels becoming staler to me. Back then I read every single words but now I cannot stand the way webnovels have the tendency to repeat things I already know for the wordcount. There are paragraphs over paragraphs I just skip because they have no value whatsoever except to pad the chapter. This make it obvious to me I was just entertained by the novelty of it all not by the actual quality of the writing.

Third - this is just a personal grudge. I don't mind holy mother MC but they absolutely need to look at the big picture but this MC is not so I'm not a fan. <<less

The first 3 volumes to maybe the start of volume 4 are good. The characters were likable and the points about familial love was actually moving at times. I noticed a lot of the 5 star reviews were from a while back (when less volumes were out) so I think that might be why the series is rated so highly.

After around the middle of volume 4, the pace at which new characters were being added increased. The characterization of characters started to become inconsistent. That's where the series became a... more>> good/great read to a brainless skim read. Also, the really are only a few running gags in the series and after reusing the same joke for like 5 volumes, they really aren't that funny anymore.

Spoiler

I'm also not sure how I feel about the author shipping an older brother and his younger brother's reincarnation. Is it in*est or is it not...????

[collapse]

That said, the translation quality was great. <<less

The sypnosis was kinda urgh so I didn't pick this up for ages which I totally regret.

This has to be the best apocalypse genre story I have ever read!

Love how the MC struggles with how she is probably just possessing this body (it's not done in an annoying way), along with the awesome relationship interplay between MC and sibling characters. Da Ge (Oldest Brother) is a really sweet but cool character ^__^

... more>> MC is not at all OP which is so hard to find nowadays.

It's really funny and not really in*estuous (which the summary kinda makes you think it is...).

The world setting is also pretty interesting. <<less

This is a very exciting fun-to-read zombie apocalypse series It felt pretty slow-going until special abilities appeared, and I was worried that it was just going to be a standard zombie apocalypse. The characters are all distinct, the comedy cracks me up, and the action is well-written. I really love the bonds between the siblings. The gender confusion is pretty funny, too.

When I started reading, I could not stop until I was completely caught up. I stayed up several hours later than I originally planned because I couldn't put it... more>> down. <<less

Here is my review:

THE STORY IS MADE BY YU WO WHO WROTE 1/2 PRINCE, LEGEND OF THE LEGENDARY SUN KNIGHT, ECLIPSE HUNTER, AND NO HERO, WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY?!

Anyways enough about my ranting about Yu Wo, Dominon's End is a fast paste action story with unique humor that might not be for everyone. Like all her other works Yu Wo's work, she skillfully incorporated a story with fantastic humor. At the current status of the story, multiple characters are being introduced with many sub-plots. There is definitely potential... more>> in the story and characters, who have been introduced so far. To summarize, you will be following the protagonist's adventures in a post apocalyptic world. You'll eventually come to love the heart-felt interactions and humorous antics he shares with his family and friends.

A warning for readers who have yet to read any of Yu Wo's work and is reading Domion's End for the first time, please don't be afraid after the first few chapters! It's not all about a scary world with only zombies!!! I experienced this first hand when I forced my friend who had no base knowledge of Yu Wo's style. She gave up after chapter 3 because she was damn too scared and it had yet to reach the funniest and best parts of the story... She was however practically jumping out of her seat at the end of practically each chapter...

A shout out the translators of Domion's End: THANK YOU FOR BEING SO DEDICATED FOR ALL THESE YEARS! I LOVE YOU GUY AND ADMIRE HOW YOU GUYS NEVER FAIL TO TRANSLATE THE CHAPTERS YOU ASSIGNED YOURSELVES EACH MONTH! <<less

Dominion's End is super ridiculous - in a good way.

It has about a million novel tropes stuffed into it. To name just a few - MC transmigrates backwards into a PARALLEL time line; MC turns from a chick into a boy; MC is a bro-con AND a sis-con; MC lives in a zombie apocalypse; People have superpowers;.... WHEW! Holy crap.

You're not supposed to take the plotline too seriously, of course. The absurdity is the comedic point.

But despite the absurdity, Dominion's End combines a LOT of story devices that I do... more>> (guiltily) want to see fitted together in a story, and does so in a fashion that forms a coherent story. To be blunt though, it is a lot of fantasy fulfillment.

So if you're like me, and you want to see a kick-ass female (male?) MC developing superpowers in a monster-filled apocalyptic world, a mouthful of zombie action, a touch of survival angst, and slight sexual/romantic innuendo between a hot genius-level older bro and a hot younger bro: ta-da! Here, you go.

On the flip-side, particularly if you're male, the pink and fuzzy recurring scenes between the three siblings will probably throw you off.

So, your mileage may vary, but I absolutely love this series. <<less

Some people hate the mc/story, because MC is serious and cool for the action scenes, then turns silly (in a s*upid or cringeworthy way (assuming how other people see it?idk though) in other scenes. It's not really a character problem imo, because the MC is not pompous/loud-mouthed/extremely rude at all, I think it's more a problem on the taste of humour in the story. The thing is, the struggle with her sexuality and fantasising about her other world brother is the comedy of this story, which I guess could be... more>> a turn off for certain people and therfore not like the character, finding the MC annoying (but no prob for me, Its extremely hilarious! Lol). But, give it a chance. If it's not your taste of humour, then move on because I don't think that's changing. However setting aside the comedy, the action, story, and other characters are really likeable and good. The MC isn't bad, just her way of thinking (which is the humour for the story) is not what some people like. So because of how controversial the MC is in this novel, it's probably better for you to read some of it yourself, than reading other people's reviews on this before deciding if its yay or nay <<less

Too good! Ahh after reading Dominion's End I felt like most of the CN novels I've read until now are tr*sh compared to this. I've rated several novels with 5-stars before 'cause I was too lazy to bother about the rating but this one really deserves my 5-stars and is leagues above those other novels.

Characters are fleshed out well, excellent world building, stellar writing, MC's humor is gold, superb translation that sounds so organic in English—what more can I ask for?

I'll surely come back here after a few years when... more>> there are more chapters to read. <<less

I can't tell if the author intends for this to be dark or lighthearted. One moment, the MC barely survives in a fight and is on the verge of death, and the next second he's worried about his brother helping him piss and daydreaming about marrying his sister. Just stick to one of them, alright! The change is so jarring that it makes it incredibly difficult to get immersed in the story. The "comedy" isn't even that funny! Don't get me wrong, Dominion's End is good. It's so f*cking good!... more>> But it just makes it so much more infuriating when the quality drops so fast I wonder if the MC is even still the same person. It's like after the meat of the story, there has to be several episodes of shitty filler in between before the plot can go on. <<less

This isn't an apocalypse novel, its a villain reform novel.

Our MC is a stereotypical villain. Petty, selfish, annoying and constantly relapses to her/his (?) old symptoms everytime the protagonist shows her conpassion. She keeps going yeah I'll change then instantly relapses to her old self the nxt chappie.

Read this if You're not looking for a nice fluffy novel where MC has a happy time surviving w/ her family. Read this if you're craving you're daily doses of angst. You f*cking M-

Yu Wo's a great author, and the translators at Prince Revolution are awesome as well. Updates are slow, but the chapters are long and there's a lot of nuances that are hard to directly translate. So yea, these translators are amazing.

About the story itself: It's a transmigration apocalypse story. There's a great cast with character growth (even the minor characters are well developed), a fun storyline that doesn't take itself seriously (MC keeps talking about how improbably certain situations are), and so many emotional scenes that made me tear up,... more>> made me giggle like a schoolgirl, made me laugh like a maniac, and even had me shocked for a whole minute (I had my hand covering my gaping mouth while not thinking because my mind was so blown).

Definitely a fun read. <<less

Definitely one of the best post-apocalyptic Chinese novels I've read, and I've read a lot of them rofl. Unlike most Chinese novels, the chapters are very long, but there aren't many of them. It's good in a way, because the chapters are individually much more satisfying and higher quality... But at the same time, there's a huge time gap between translations.

It's a great story to binge, but you need to be prepared to be stuck on a cliffhanger for at least a month lmao.

I really hate looking at all these reviews and seeing that almost all are 5 stars. Were we reading the same story? 5 stars? Not a chance. If you were honest and absolutely loved the story, I could see maybe 4. A 1 if you hated it. I myself enjoyed the first volume, and the start of the second, but after a bit, it became really hard to read. I finally just got annoyed with the story, and skipped to the last translated chapter v2 c10, to see how things... more>> were going. It was a confusing mess that not only made me not want to go back and reread the parts I'd skipped, but made me not want to put it on a reading list to pick it up later. Truly sad after a very promising start. What really annoyed me, were the jumps, and how jarring they were. Fighting the bird on the roof, then out of nowhere another bird attacks him. Blackness and then suddenly hes somewhere else. The same thing happened earlier in the police station. For me, its a major turn off. It creates a break in the story, and for me, made me lose interest. <<less

Recommended. I am not usually a fan of zombie stories, but this one had quite a lot of momentum, pretty good character building and interesting super powers.

The reincarnation/gender bender plot added into that makes it a page turner and exciting to see where it's going to go.

I got a bit bogged down after the double brother paradox, and the journey to reacquaint with his fam. The whole underground laboratory is intriguing for the lore but was also somewhat... distasteful, but that's what a zombie series is all about. Looking forward... more>> to the translations catching up so I can skim read over the remaining chapters until the reunion, when I hope it shall pick up again. <<less

Superbly written.

Grammar: 4.3/5
Story: 4/5
Writing: 4/5

(Side note: As a few others have noted, the transition is fairly Jarring between the volumes. I would have also very much appreciated it if the author had immediately continued the side story, though I did appreciate the humor provided by the extra.)

Another gem, except it is polished and gleaming in this gritty post-apocalyptic world. Grammar is exceptional, high praise to the translation team. The story takes the Chinese culture and depicts a very surreal kind of apocalypse. The writing is smooth,... more>> the action is fast, and the tension is almost enough. Almost enough, but falls just a little short. Don't get me wrong, I am loving this series. I just have to state that while the story is great, it doesn't really allow you to connect with the characters. It almost feels as if aside from the older brother the Author is trying to distance himself from the other characters because he plans to kill them (which is the opposite of what he should do). I'll be reading this, and rereading it, until the author finishes the story, drops the story, or the story takes a steep dive in quality into some unfathomable abyss. <<less

Interesting. While the premise follows several existing tropes (past life memories, zombie apocalypse), it managed to give a certain fresh breeze. Yu Wo is a professional writer with several published series, so you could count on her work to be finished and at least have a proper ending. For those who like her previous work (legend of sun knight, half prince) then congratulations. You will definitely like this novel. For those who dislike Half Prince for it's headache inducing plot and silliness, rest assured. Dominions end has less of the... more>> cringe moment and has more concrete plot. That being said, it's not a linear hero safe the world or I will beat the world into submission type of story. Dominions end is an open world where anything could happen and the plot won't be focused on one event. <<less
