Let’s Talk About That Guy Who Transmigrated to Pursue Me

Wen Xuan was the head disciple of Water Cloud Sect’s sect leader. He spent the first half of his lifetime respecting his teachers and placing importance in the way of Dao. Friendly towards other fellow disciples, he was everyone’s role model.

He once believed that he would spend a lifetime like this. Until one day, he met a younger fellow disciple (shidi) who was unbelievably skilled.

This shidi told him that this world was actually a novel. And he, Wen Xuan, would become the most unsightly, petty little villain in this leveling up style cultivation novel. With the next half of his lifetime on a bumpy spiral downward after an erroneous decision, he will be betrayed and deserted by friends and family, cast away and end up dying miserably alone.

“After dinner for leisure, many people would use a mocking tone of disdain to discuss your disastrous life. But no one knew how you survived through all those years. No one saw how you struggled to hold on to your principles in your lonesome. No one cared about the suffering you experienced and your perseverance. But I saw it. I know. I care.”

“That’s why I came to this world. To become your support.”

I doubted at first if I was right by my judgement, but if you want to clear up who is the gong and who is the shou, summary itself is realiable. I checked multiple times the title and the tags. Anyway, I agree with the other reviews. This is a refreshing novel.

The transmigrator isn't the usual other transmigrators. He knows everything, he also schemes, but he doesn't give away his thoughts. Because he is really black. With his past, yee. Even I would turn black. And because of his past,... more>> his approach towards the plot of the original novel was excessive. Well, not only to the original plot, but also with the novel character. Yes. Obessessive indeed. It is unhealthy, but fortunately, as the other reviews said, there is a character development. The naive becoming not that naive anymore. And the obsessive learning to care about others too. <<less

Here we have a yandere!reversal which is just so so original.

Most stories in the novel-transmigration genre don't really show as deep and interesting character development as this one; both of the main characters go through soul-searching and transformation.

Spoiler

Particularly, in changing a toxic co-dependent relationship into something more wholesome.

[collapse]

Additionally, the story is told from the perspective of "the novel character" instead of the transmigrator, which added a really excellent element of tension throughout.

Instead of knowing everything, we discover the past and the possibilities through a series of well-written reveals and story fragments. Everything was interwoven with the overall plot. I love that the author questioned established prejudices/racism towards demons and demonic beasts in typical xianxia with this story.

Spoiler

I do wish it was longer or there were extras. The question of what happened to the demon lord that took over the main character's original continent (will he ever get defeated?) And some of the cultivation world's conflicts and view of the main character's demonic beast roots were never truly resolved.

[collapse]

I thought the story would be mostly fluff and lighthearted face-slapping / counterattacking, but it really broke through my expectations. A very good read.

Translation wasn't bad, flowed very well after a few initial hiccups. <<less

You would have thought from the title will feel this story is a bit fun and light hearted. But it’s not. It’s a story of 2 tragic person. But got a second chance to avoid the tragedy. There is still quite a bit loopholes here and there, the end a bit rush HE, but it’s an interesting read. For me it’s not very exciting read but it’s good for passing time. Tq

It's not too bad nor great.. It's okay.

PLOT

The Plot is good. It was a good idea and was also executed in a good way. There were a lot of pieces which were not given a full conclusion. It starts off interesting and starts to slowly drag but since the book is not that long it can be considered okay. It's a slow burn, the characters only get together at the 79 or 80 chapter.

... more>> CHARACTERS

The character start of a bit bland with nothing really happening but by the end you can see their growth.

Wen Xuan starts off very naive with an idea to protect everyone and kill all demons. His character growth is wonderful with him realizing the heavy dependence he has on Jian Yi and breaking it off because he knew giving more was like giving poison to a thirsty man.

Jian Yi starts off a bit superficial with his obsession with Wen Xuan. He only cared about him to a point he could be considered insane. Wen Xuan breaking off with him actually did him more good then bad. He understood to think from not only his pov but also from other's. He was then ready to accept those by Wen Xuan's side. You know the reason of Jian Yi's heavy obsession in the later chapters which kinda throws light on many of his actions.

Don't worry It's a HE. The characters are actually portrayed quite wonderfully but the plot was good but not great enough sometimes even seemed bland.

It is a good read but there are way better books out there. I would recommend this but it will never come right on top of my head. <<less

This novel is very good but left me wanting more with the way it ended. It ended so abruptly and we never got to see the ML and the MC be an actual couple. This novel is the definition of slow burn. They struggled with their feelings, emotions and confessing throughout the whole novel and in the last 2-3 chapters they finally came clean and started a relationship. But then the novel ended and that was it. There should have been at lease a handful of extra chapters to neatly... more>> wrap it up. It left me hanging and wanting more.

What I found interesting in this novel was the transmigrator, Jian Yi, wasn't the MC, the ML was. The novel was all in Wen Xuan's POV. It was a refreshing take on a transmigration novel and I enjoyed it.

Please read it and I guarantee that you will like it too. <<less

I like the idea of the concept, a view from the male lead from the novel instead of the person that transmigrated.

Very entertaining in the starting and middle.

Just, I felt it was a bit rushed the last arcs, where they jumped many years later but I think it was to do a wrap up with how both of them had to go on to their next phase of life and not be stagnant with what they had learned of each other.

4 stars. Worth a read

So far it seems interesting! The MC is understandably confused but not stubborn and over paranoid, and the ML seems fun so far! The translation is great and easy to understand, and I cant wait for more!

First time I've come across a transmigration-into-a-novel story where the MC is one of the novel's characters rather than the transmigrator, and really liked that twist. The ML annoyed me greatly for most of the novel, but actually underwent some really good character development towards the end.

Of beasts and shidis.
This novel is really hard to rate.
The first 60% is a funny and light story, typical of transmigration, but told from the point of view of the "villain", so it creates many questions around the MC. Days and years pass with a seamless relationship between CM and ML.
The further the story goes, the more obvious it is that, although there is a world history (sects, demons...) this is just something that is in the background, like the background of a painting, something that is there so that the real protagonists of the picture are not floating in the nothing but that is only that, something of background that will move in the background letting glimpse, but without gaining prominence. On the contrary, the true weight of the work is sustained by both main characters, it is a story of personal growth.
Towards the end of the book, it focuses increasingly on the relationship of the MC and ML, but not romantically, but on how they relate to each other, as all the obsessions of the MC and the negligence of the ML are reaching them and all that has not been said has deteriorated and spoiled their relationship.
At this point, and in just 2-3 chapters everything becomes very murky, with an uncontrolled and possessive MC that leads the critic of the relationship of both characters causing their irremediable separation.
The balance of history is perhaps your biggest handicap, I understand that sometimes you have to get to the bottom and take space to see the big picture and realize what does not work. However, this does in just no more than 5 chapters of the 82 that the novel has. Creating the feeling for more than 60 chapters that it is a light novel with some mysteries and not what it ends up being, a story of growth and acceptance.

Woahhhh, What a ride this was! I completed reading this story after continuously reading for 3-4 days. After reading till 3 am just so I can reach the end *sighs* tbh it was worth it. It was just so interesting that I couldn't stop and had to pull almost all-nighters.

I'm really happy for the HE our jian yi and wen xuan got! They definitely deserve it. Moreover, I'm rather sad about ye shenge's death and feel really sad for chu lian. He's rather pitiful.

Anyways, finally reaching the end,... more>> I feel very melancholic rn. Just, idk wat to say to explain this feeling. Like, it's the end now. The journey has finally reached it's final destination. I'm happy but also melancholic.

Definitely recommend this novel to everyone! It's a good read!

I would rate the story 4.5/5 stars if possible. It's interesting, but in the end, I felt like it didn't live up to its potential. Clearly there were plot points that the author had in mind, but they weren't delved into as much as I liked. Although they were all addressed by the end, it wasn't fulfilling.

Spoiler

For example, we know early on that Qin Shiyu is the protagonist of the story that Jian Yi (transmigrator) read. I expected to see an arc where Qin Shiyu and Wen Xuan interacted more, whether in cooperation or in competition. But after their first meeting, we hardly see Qin Shiyu again except near the end. I really think there should have been an arc like that. It would've been interesting even if cliche.

[collapse]

Towards the end, maybe at 4/5 of the story through, the story becomes a lot more passive. There's a lot more "tell" than show.

Translation by Infinite was good. <<less

The best part of this novel is character development. I like how none of the characters are perfect. They learn, grow, and accept. They aren't stereotypical either. The characters are all different and fleshed out. The unknown parts of the novel make it seem very realistic. So, the reader doesn't know everything about the characters.

I especially love how the main characters grew and came in terms with one another. The fact that the OG protagonist isn't made into an evil dude made it a lot better. Something I haven't seen... more>> in most novels. The plot was also short but nice.

I'd love to read more about the other characters if they had their own novels. <<less

Honestly, I wanted to give a 4.5, but anyways.

Good story to chill to. At first, I was like. This dude kinda creepy. Mr. Red Flag is a bit too red.

But sometimes, you just have to shut your brain off and just enjoy the ride. I think you'll like it. It's not too long, just enough to procrastinate on your homework for 4 days and be satisfied to finally work.

The ML is an obsessive jerk who wants to be the only person near the MC and doesn’t care about others

The MC is a genuinely good person who cares about others and wants to protect the innocent

75 chapters in and they are still in an ambiguous relationship stage, the MC is lonely, stuck in beast form and can’t speak and the ML keeps him isolated

I lost all interest when the ML tries to kill an innocent blind little girl. I don’t care how the author chooses to redeem him. This story isn’t worth it anymore

The ending is worth the frustration toxicity it takes to get there. I appreciate the character growth of Wen Xuan the most. Also, the plot twists regarding WX’s lineage are interesting and give the story a fresh conclusion. Meanwhile, Jian Yi is an intense yandere with a traumatic background, but even he shows signs of recovery at the end. Bravo, author! I normally drop novels quickly, but this one held my curiosity and compelled me to make it to the end. Thank you, translator for making this novel available for... more>> an English audience. <<less

At first I thought it was just an ok novel but then one of the main characters started showing his dark side more and more and in the second part the tale became really twisted and tragic. In short it turned out to be a really good story in the end.

Honestly? I really enjoyed reading this novel. I am an angst lover and usually, I don't really find those interesting which doesn't have any angst. However, this was a decent novel with a fresh idea and I quite enjoyed reading it. The world building is good and so are the characters. I wouldn't say it's a fluffy novel nor I would tag it as an angsty one but over all, it's a good read. If you wanna read some light hearted novel, then just go for it.

Read this a long time algo so I don't recall the details, just reviewing as a note to my self I guess...

It was súper sad and doesnt have the tragedy Tag!!! I DON'T EVER READ TRAGEDY TAGGED BOOKS IF I CAN HELP IT!!

ML was lovely and pitiful just Woow, so sad

... more>> MC... What the actual f*#k? A psycho, he wasnt even a likeable psycho, just... f*ck him 🙃

At the end ML would have been better off whitout MC, but then again that's my general impression and I don't recall the details, I even finished it so the writing must have been ok and I guess that's it (i fat fingered the five stars... upss).

Def not reading it again to re-live the fiasco

It's essentially a cultivation novel, and the ML who transmigrated has foresight on what might happen, and also an obsession for MC. Don't be fooled by the title, it's not as humorous as it sounds. The story really just revolves around ML trying to protect and "save" MC from everyone else who would betray him.

The relationship borderlines on being quite unhealthy for almost half the novel and although it was resolved in the end, it still left a little uncomfortable aftertaste for me from the unbalanced relationship. Otherwise, the plot... more>> was relatively well-planned and interesting, especially initially.

The relationship between MC and his Shifu relationship was actually quite touching and I almost cried when they touched on Shifu's story... To miss something so dearly...

Overall, interesting cultivation novel but be warned of the unhealthy obsession-possessive relationship between MC and ML. <<less
