Put this off for quite a while because of the overly melodramatic synopsis and the cover image which confused me. MC is a professor teacher & ML is a tattooist. It wasn’t a straight up love at first sight crazy obsessive kind of love, but some gradual progress into the state, as befitting of a more mature lovers kind of novel.

Pretty cute, both having their own baggage in relationships, with MC mostly resolving his issues by himself and ML working with MC to resolve his together.

I kind of really wanted MC to reveal his shitty ex’s actions to SOMEBODY (his parents, ML, his best friend) but he never did. Like I wanted that collective “urgh this guy is shit! But our MC is so mature and doesn’t even see the need to wreck that shithead’s reputation and just moves on from it. Mad respect cause I could never.

Mostly MC chasing ML, getting him to open up, eventually landing the dude and mutual sweetness ensuing amidst some distressing PTSD. Overall novel tone is quite chill and relaxing to read (not much new dog blood beyond the established past). Less heart twinges vs Wildfire.

Still enjoyed it though, but a strong 4.5; almost favourite. <<less

Amazing novel that hits all my buttons. Manly gay couple tag is used correctly here. *Chef kiss*

there's something about a 1 turning into a 0 that is really really hot but many authors do not handle it well at all. In many novels, there's too many unnecessary conflict about it and it's so unrealistic. This author wrote it well especially given the background of how much Xiao Ke loves Zhou Zui.

Other reviews have said it better, the only thing I’d say is that you won’t regret spending time reading this. The maturity and reality of relationships and one’s own values coming into play in one’s decisions and life are portrayed so well and its just *chef’s kiss*.

Mature, realistic, heart-wrenchingly emotional, poignant characters and story.

10/10 recommend

I really don't know what to say about this novel it's been so long since I've read amazing novel like this
Xiao Ke personality so sweet and lovable Zhou Zui is every girl/man dream lover even it didn't clear show but really he have great charisma, I really felt sorry for him for his tragical past and some parts make me cry

the new year part was one of the sweetest parts I ever read (Amidst the darkness, Zhou Zui heard Xiao Ke speak to him with his still slightly wavering voice, “It’s already midnight now. You need to remember that Teacher Xiao crossed into the new year with you. I don’t care how many years passed before this that you spent alone, but from today on, I’ll be with you every new year.) (He hugged Zhou Zui tighter to him, then kissed his ear. He softly whispered into Zhou Zui’s ear, “..... Happy new year, precious.)

I didn't approve of the way XK reacts to ZZ past story with his X it wasn't his fault and he suffer a lot because of this so his reaction was immature I thought he will embrace him and told him that it's all in the past and he's not guilty, in this matter I feel they all wrong and not fair with ZZ he deserve better, thanx god XK back to him and the way he back make me scream like crazy the whole scene was so adorable

I haven't done reading this, but I already skipped many sentences, it's just so boring with so many unnecessary scenes, it's too dragging, I know because the author was trying to build it up, but for me, the characters are too boring, if this were a movie, I'll probably sleep just by watching 10 minutes of it. Don't get me wrong, I like this kind of trope where the MC knows what he likes and is not easily embarrass, that's why I like GREEN PLUM ISLAND, it's a slow burn... more>> too, but it's not like this novel that is so boring that will makes you want to skipped many scenes, nevertheless it's just my opinion, we have different likes, this one is not just for me, I'm just expecting that it's some kind of masterpiece like some of you talked about. I'll try to finish this though, if I changed my mind and find out that I actually like it, I'll comeback and give this five stars. <<less

the unnecessary drama in the middle. ML's ex-bf was a manipulator guilt-tripping loser who was fcked up at the head so I didn't understand why when ML retold his story MC instead of just comforting him left him like that. He is a trauma survivor (sorry if I am not using the word correctly) If you love him and want him to be better then I don't think locking your room door is a great choice here.

Truly a masterpiece. The author was able to create realistic characters with actual personalities. Just as the description says, the story starts with Xiao Ke, the MC celebrating his 30th birthday in a club by himself, where he meets an older, handsome tattoo artist. And as our good-looking teacher has just turned 30 and isn't a kid anymore, he decides to openly go for it and pursue him.

Because both Xiao Ke and Zhou Zui are already in their 30s, there isn't any dog blood high school drama or playing hide-and-seek.... more>> Xiao Ke, the MC knows what he wants and goes for it, which was honestly a breath of fresh air juxtaposed with the number of "good-for-nothing" bottoms in bl novels. You should also be prepared for the ML struggling with some past trauma. Also, if just like me you don't really read short novels, because you usually get the feeling that the whole plot and relationship were rushed- it's not the case here at all! Despite the small number of chapters the whole story really felt like a slow burn.

In conclusion, it definitely differs from the novels I usually read but I really did very much enjoy it! The translation is also 10/10 as expected from CG <3 Totally recommend it. <<less

This is by far the most realistic CP and story I've read on NU. The interaction between ML and MC is so mature and it is something you want for yourself. This made want to fall in love and chase that person tirelessly, patiently and persistently. Thumbs up!

This story is HIGHLY recommended!

My friend always asking me to read this because she already re-read this story so many times. And now I regret not to read this beautiful story sooner.
The story so deep and makes me teary in the early chapter because I'm so touched T_T
Xiao Ke, Xiao Ke Xiao Ke. I love this character so damn much! He is the best!
He is so positive, smart, also patient. He truly showing that " I love this person and I will prove it until he becomes mine."

When the story reveals all the past... the author describe it amazingly and make it looks natural.
This is the best slice of life danmei I have read so far.

Zhou Zui deserve happiness and Xiao Ke give it all.
I really love all the character T_T
Also the translation is good. Thank you very much.

Such a good novel. I pray to the altar of Xiao Ke. He has such good game. I enjoyed the slow burn chase. Since the cp is 30 and over, I wish there was more smut. If you enjoy characters with depth and a story that you can't wait to see what happens next, I highly recommend this.

Though this does not have the usual action fantasy genre that I'm very used to, I find this novel as refreshing as iced lemonade on a hot sunny day.

The love of two mature men, one taunted by his past and another looking forward and never to the past.

It's a slow burn indeed but with the wiles and seduction by Xiao Ke, who can resist?

A very solid 4.5 stars

It's been a while since I read anything from modern era. To be frank I was skeptical at first, but first chapter itself erased all my hesitation and I read it in one go. It's really good to see healthy communication between the leads, how they overcome their fears and the best part was the chemistry. Both MC and ML are in their 30s! MC was a very calm character, leading to an overall calming and sweet read. ML's background story was really heart wrenching and was part of why I cried. Story was fairly simple but what was special (to me) was that the MC's character was very consistently calm and the decisions he made, made sense from his character-type and I really appreciated that. He took the time and effort to break down the ML's walls, not in a forceful way but merely by... more>> being present and later by being a pillar of support to help ML get through his issues. ML works at a tattoo store (and is pro at it) and the story somewhat used tattoos as an analogy to the pains that they go through. Story was well progressed and smooth.

Side characters were cute too. MC parents were supportive, ML tattoo apprentice was a cutie and his mini romance (extras) was adorable.

The heart wrenching part near the 2nd half was a little angsty, FYI.

I could really classify it as the best danmei novel I have read so far, and many will say that it will be because I lack experience and I have not read this novel or that. But I have read many novels that even had more than 200 chapters, however, none have made me feel the emotions that it generated in me. Honestly, no matter how hard I try to find faults, I can't find them, the only thing I could say is that it is quite short but the... more>> end makes me feel that the duration was perfect and that nothing else was needed. As the author mentions, they were already happy and it was not necessary to extend it.

The MC is charismatic and strong, qualities he has that make him love him from the first moment. The ML at first seems cold but he is a cute baby to take care of, I really fell in love with his personality. Together the two complement each other and it makes you think that they are truly a match made in heaven.

Their interactions are great, because thanks to the slow and gradual process that the plot has when something "nice" happens it excites you and you feel like you're there. A point very in favor of this type of plot is that it feels realistic, to the point where you feel that you really love each other for your actions and your ways of being. It doesn't take any heroic act or sacrifice to feel it, it's real.

Last point I want to mention, which in my opinion is one of the most charming. Here they are both grown men, there is not the typical stereotype in which the shou is ashamed, cannot admit his love, or is weak or in which the gong is the strongest, the one who woos, the shameless. No, that does not exist, they act according to their relationship, how it is that someone chases you and how it is chasing someone.

I recommend it to those who want to read something more mature, more realistic and also sweet. Obviously, this novel, not because it is short, does not have its dramatic parts, but it is so well done that it is a complement to the novel. If you have time, check it out which will only take one day, and I'm sure you won't regret it.

With so many rating and review, I dont need to say much about how I love this story. If you wanna learn how to elegantly pursue your crush, learn from this novel. Definitely my fave MC. And.. The story is so real..

The great thing about author, she could capture the LGBT romance essence. The reason MC break up with his ex, is the reason I break up with my GF. But i’m not as cold or strong will like MC. We just break up for 1 week, and back together.... more>> But me and my GF background is different with this story anyway. And my GF never mention about it anymore after that. So I feel this novel is really special, and well written. Translation is also superb. Highly recommended. <<less

I can't belive how much I liked this novel. This work is so sweet and realistic, the whole plot is amaizing, the characters (all of them) have their own unique personalities, it looks like its something real. There is some angst but everything is treat with care and maturity, so different of the usual BL novels, I'm very happy I gave Tatto a chance!

I will just say that it's an absolute PLEASURE to read about a relationship between two mature people, and I found the entire story very sweet and beautifully crafted. I finished this story in one go and never did I become bored while reading it!

The story is super realistic, unlike some of the novels I have read. It shows how the characters try to fix their own issues and grow together while at it. The story wasn't rushed in any way and I actually feel that the characters are alive. That's how good it is.

The main couple are really mature and they don't entirely depend on each other. Even though they're together, they still have their own lives and... more>> they don't demand time and attention. They're also not super possessive to the point where it's unrealistic. In short, I really commend the author for creating these characters where they feel alive!!

This is one of my favorite novels now and I really recommend this to those who are looking for realistic stories. <<less
