Heroic Death System

“I curse you to never die in peace!”

Thus, Shang Ke started a never-ending cycle of constantly throwing away his miserable life.

He would always show himself as a martyr while letting others cry over his death.

It was because of a woman’s curse that Shang Ke was hit by a car and turned into a human vegetable. This led to him becoming bound by an unlucky system in which he was cursed to die. The most unfortunate part was that he never cheated on anyone’s feelings. The reason for why he was cursed by a woman was because of a guy named Qi Chen. Qi Chen was a ladies man, and he would always use Shang Ke as an excuse to break up with any woman that he was with. As a result, Shang Ke was always blamed for the breakups. Since then, the main character could only be forced to cross into different worlds. He would thus experience for himself, the hero’s “thrill”.

The main reason why I got so invested in reading this was because of
Spoiler

Snowy-san's English translations.

[collapse]

The book was really decently undeniably good.

Everything you were looking for a transmigration novel is almost here.

The reason why Shang Ke transmigrated would be further explained when it's around Arc 11/12 (?).

Also the last Arc was
Spoiler

the First World where he was comatosed due to his friend.

[collapse]

There would also be a big reveal at the last arc that would make you
Spoiler

“Eh?????? Nani? ? ? ? ?

And also Shang Ke still have to be heroic on that last arc.
[collapse]

The ending was as @iceflecks said: “OPEN-ENDED”.

I felt tired all of a sudden after reading the ending.

I had hoped that it have another extra chapter but author-san made it clear that
Spoiler

SHE'S NOT GOING TO MAKE EXTRAS NOR A SECOND VOLUME of the book in the future.

Pretty much saying that let's just rely on those fanfics, to get the ending that we really want.

And some people would obviously be doing it. :)

I love this series! The missions the system gives the MC are great. He's forced to sacrifice himself over and over and the arcs make it so funny. The ML gives himself away with a mole on his hand (which is kind of confusing since he's a soul) so I feel like it's less harem-y.

This is one of the best novels I read. In the span of 6 months I already read more than 80 novels, but this is in my top 5. A definite read. It has romance, plot, tragedy, comedy and the author is innovative. I especially like the second arc Q^Q, I don’t even remember how many times I reread it.

The first arc was amazing. I loved how strong the MC was and how he inspired others but later his personality turned more into the MC of QWFD. Part of the reason to why I loved the first arc was because MC didnt pay attention to ML, MC did not fall in love so easily with ML. But after a few arcs, while working to accomplish his mission, on the side he started searching for "his man". Referring to ML the same was MC does in QWFD. Ugh. His manliness... more>> and coolness just dropped 100 points for me. Seriously cheesy how he became so tamed each time he finds ML and readily accepts him. I suppose in this aspect each person has their taste. But for me, where´s the fun if there´s no chasing? Even if his lover has the same soul, do you really have to turn so obedient and act like a puppy? Do people really like this type of MC? <<less

I loved this story until the ending...

The MC and ML are so great for each other, and the arcs were interesting. Everything was great until the end came... and it was kind of open-ended, which I'm not a big fan of... it sort of made the happiness from before go down the drain for me so... 4.5 if I could, but 4.0 instead. T_T

This is one of my favourite BL stories,

I swear the arcs are all unique and although some of them are the cliche arcs you see in other bl stories. I'm not going to spoil anything's, BUT some of the arcs like Arc 8 really reminded me of Detroit Become Human for some reason, and Arc 7 really reminded me of the movie Dolphin Tale (although they aren't that similar).

Although I must say, ML is just kinda depressing, every arc he ends up crying while clutching MC in his arms.... more>> Plus some (most) arcs he is just kinda obsessive over MC. Anyways you get annoyed then feel bad for him.

I definitely recommend this though!!!! <<less

Dropped this after the 3rd r*pe.

The summary and first arc lulled me into a false sense so security. The summary makes you think it's a comedy and the first arc hits you quickly with how serious the MC's situation is. After that, I went into it with my tissues nearby.

Unfortunately, it didn't take long for me to start disliking the story, especially ML. If he was traveling with the MC, I could understand a lot of his possessiveness. But we are told early on that each incarnation is original. As... more>> the arcs progress, he gets more and more controlling, constantly imprisoning the MC to his side. As another mentioned, the arcs seemed to become glorified abusive relationships. I skipped around to find something redeeming. Even some of the nicer arcs are reintroduced as horrible in which the MC is essentially suffering Stockholm Syndrome with ML. <<less

3.5* not a huge fan of the relationship dynamic, a little too r*pe-y with an unhealthy representation of "no means yes" but other than that it's well written with some pretty creative and fun transmigration identities,

the arcs are on the shorter side but for the most part they are still well fleshed out, later on it becomes less about the world and more about them doing it which gets boring (at least for me since I'm not a fan of the ml)

I would've rated it lower were it not for the point for the translator and that I did enjoy some arcs. It's the usual world hopping dynamics like QFTOD and the last x, and just like with the latter, the ML evolves into one with high s*xual drive.

  1. There were some arcs I liked and some I especially disliked. One being the apocalypse arc and the other being the 'original life' arc wherein I especially despised the ML's character development. My impression just had to be ruined near the ending. Also, a fuller backstory would've been much nicer. So there's that too.

I dont have much thought. Just finished reading but dont really remember much of what I read cuz the novel doesnt have much of a WOW factor. Its quite bland and a bit boring. If ur looking for a complex plot, not this one. Each arc is very simple, no real drama, not much character development, characters are very 2d and the romance... hmmm I didnt feel any real chemestry, it was too rushed, love just seemed to appear out of nowhere, there wasnt any real lead to why MC... more>> fell in love or even how ML fell in love. The best way I can explain ML's romance is... caveman style. Its all physiscal and "I see, I like, I take. rawr!" And MC...i feel like hes just going along with ml.

There were some arcs where I loved the concept and wish it went more into details but was sorely dissapointed.

Id rate the tragedy as 1/5 stars. Each arc seems too rushed to develop any emotional attachment to any characters so the MC's deaths didnt seem as tragic. Good read if ur bored and have nothing better to do.

I heard QWTFOD is another transmigration novel and is very similar to this one. Havent read it yet but I think ill hold off on migrating novels for now. Wasnt really into this one so I dont think ill like that one either. <<less

Disagree w those comparing this with QWTFOD. I enjoyed this better than QWTFOD. They both suffer from fault of OP MCs so it can be boring sometimes. But the arcs are more interesting, the angst is also quite delicious.

I didn't give it a 5/5 because of the last arc. Idk why the ML suddenly became so scummy and r*pey despite all those lifetimes of happy endings. There were still 8 or more chapters left so there might have been a justification but the repeated r*pe is just a turnoff. MC... more>> is also a bit too tolerant of him. As someone who lived hundreds of years and gained countless skills, it's not lyk he can't make trouble for the scum ML. <<less

When I first read this novel back when it was still ongoing, everyone pitied the ML.

Now everyone hates the ML.

How time changes, sigh.

I still felt the ML is a bit pitiful though, but yea in a sense also very oppressive and forceful. So it feels kinda fair when MC abused the hell out of ML.

the worlds were decently interesting but none of the characters held up. side characters are flatter than paper. main characters are not much better. MC is... fine, though it was weird how he could completely change personality from whoever’s body he transmigrated into and no one cared. ML is typical “president” love interest (domineering, powerful, obsessive). he outright r*pes the MC a few times, but its totally excused by the narrative and the MC (ugh). as other reviewers have said, he really is a scummy and annoying guy.
Spoiler

I honestly only kept reading to see him suffer. I definitely found myself rooting for kaiser and the mole over him.

[collapse]

he was actually ok in the first arc, but as the story progressed he got a lot more obsessive and forceful and really started thinking only with his dick

the ghost assistant arc has some strange and outdated ideas about autism. I skipped over most of that arc because I got annoyed, but at the beginning there was talk about how ml’s autism could be cured and I assume MC did “cure” it

Spoiler

the return arcs were also not very satisfying. I usually enjoy fluff but everything had so little substance the focus shifted to the romance over the plot, and it really showed how shallow the relationship between MC and ML feels

[collapse]

overall: pretty typical s*xual bl novel, tr*shy plot with dubious romance.

Spoiler

also typical qt plot of same ML and MC in different worlds. the heroic death twist was kind of interesting, but couldn’t save how lacking the romance was. as another reviewer has said, using the qt setting to explore different love interests and what the MC wants from a relationship could have been a lot more interesting and meaningful.

I think I'm gonna leave it there for now.

I think the worlds were interesting at first but what really just tired me was literally the ML. MC isn't that annoying, he's just a bit OP and self sacrificing (personality and mission wise) like any MC but what annoys me is how he is with the ML. He is pretty much there just to fck MC. That's it. The first 2 or 3 worlds is the building to ML's scummy personality and the rest is just unrestrained and pretty much r*pey... more>> behaviour. I think I would have tolerated it if ML had any qualities that helped MC or any redemption to his mentality during the other arcs but he's pretty much there to just have the MC as his and done. The author then just gives their relationship of "he's the same man I love because he has a mole on the hand and the bastard behaviour of his" but I still don't know why they love each other. They just find each other and then fck. That's the relationship during the next arcs.

The 3 stars is for the enjoyment I had reading the first few arcs but at this point some feel a bit bland and the pair is already at that 0 EQ stage that they only need to see each other and go at it. The amount of times he just "enters" after one kiss is baffling to say the least.

The worlds and missions were ok, the relationship and the chemistry between MC and ML is meh. <<less

The novel is great

The MC is gentle and caring, the ML is so possessive.

The arcs are great and I'm satisfied with the ending because Shang ke can now normally reincarnate, he still have the system with him and even though I'm curious about his and his love's past life still it's in the past so let's just be happy about they're future together.

So 5 stars.

Thank you for the author of this story.

And of course the translator who translate this novel, thank you<3

Rating: 4/5- As a person whose least favourite genre of novel is Quick Transmigration and World Hopping, this book was captivating and kept me glued until the end, albeit finishing off disappointingly. (Bearing in mind that I have not read QWTFOD as yet) I thoroughly enjoyed all the arcs and especially the MC Shang Ke. He was spectacular and steadfast and made this story so unbelievably great.

I must say the worst arc by far is the final arc. I feel like this really well told story has a very... more>> weak ending. It does no justice to a rather solid plotline. Almost as if the author didn't know how to create an overarching plot outside of the mini arcs.

If more detail and a solid framework was given about the 3 characters in question- those who started the status of cursed reincarnations- it may have given the whole story a proper ending. Unfortunately the weak ending will sorely disappoint you.

If you ignore that failure from the author and simply read the arcs and mini missions, it will be quite enjoyable.

QT novels are truly my absolute last choice when it comes to genres; and reading this was due to boredom but it was a good choice overall. It reads quite quickly and you will love the MC. The ML is not the greatest but he's not horrible either and in many ways the MC really compensated for his very 2D nature. In fact if his back story was better elaborated by the author, I feel like readers may have connected better with him.

Unfortunately this novel is what it is, so go in fully aware that there is a massive plot hole (actually a complete lack of plot) regarding the origins of the characters. This will mess up the reading experience towards the end of the book (and potentially between arcs because the author does kind of rush ideas), but use your imagination to fill in the spaces. <<less

I like the book in general. The Arcs are interesting and I love how the MC isn’t some OP, Flawless, Mary Sue. He does annoy me a bit though. He lets the ML just do whatever, even when he’s wrong. He forgives him every every damn thing.

Speaking of the ML, I hate him. He f*cking sucks. In almost every arc, He r*pes the MC. And He doesn’t even regret it or see anything wrong in doing it! And it’s written as if it’s such a normal and cute thing to... more>> do.
Spoiler

My least favorite arc is: "I am an evil pen". Not only does the ML capture the MC but when they meet, threatens the MC to sleep with him! And then he r*pes him! He frustrates me so much. Especially when he goes “He looks cute” at MC’s quivering body. It’s disgusting

[collapse]

This story acts as if r*pe and abuse are totally alright. And the ML doesn’t get better. He knows what he’s doing is wrong but doesn’t regret it.

The story is good but the ML sucks. He is the main reason I dropped it. <<less

the MC does die in every world BUT he does go back to every world (before or after he died, he just comes back to life or go to a time before he died) and make everything right and have a HE (happy ending)

[collapse]

The ML sometimes kinda forces the MC in some world. But after ML found out about how it's the same person in every world, they get together.

I rated it 4* instead of 5 because I don't like how the ML just kinda falls in love and some of the worlds are very basic.

I'd say avoid reading the tags. I'm not sure I don't thing any of them really accurately reflect this one. I'd say give it a shot and read the first 10%, which is like two small 10c arcs. If you don't like it by then, you won't like it. I have very reasonable expectations and I'd say this actually met them.

I like this space between worlds kind of.

u: 2021 Dec 25.

Will probably not reread, or may be a few years. MC always dying and leaving ML to grieve... more>> is too heavy for me. Plus I remember too much with how worlds are handled when revisited, causing it to be boring. Need time to forget it if I want to read it again. <<less
