The cousin that Jing Huan has been closest to since he was a child was labelled as “the other woman” in a certain popular online game: only after devoting herself did she know that the other party was a jerk with a girlfriend.

After several days of being bullied online by people in the game, his cousin went abroad in a fit of anger and sorrow.

Jing Huan couldn’t take this lying down; he decided to take revenge for his cousin using the same method as that guy – buy a character in game and kill that slag guy thousands of times online.

With his strength and skill as the Great God when the game was first launched, wouldn’t he be able to kill that guy and force him to quit the server in minutes?!

He went online, eager to fight, but made a discovery after conducting a round of investigations — this slag guy was the number one DPS server-wide, number one on the expert ranking list, number one on the wealth ranking list, number one on the popularity ranking list, and number one on the fame ranking list.

Conclusion: Can’t screw him over.

Jing Huan felt despondent. He was just about to give up when he personally witnessed his dormmate’s online relationship end right after meeting each other in real life. The other party had sent fake photos and changed their voice, and had even cheated him of his money, triggering his dormmate so much that he was almost admitted to a hospital.

Jing Huan felt enlightened as a sudden realisation dawned on him. After comforting his roommate, he moved the high-priced voice changer back to his rented house overnight.

Second hand embarrassment? Shamelessness? Dog food? Everything related to those are in this novel.

I absolutely loved this novel but I had to stop here and there to take breaks because of the second hand embarrassment I got sometimes.

When MC sent that thigh pic and ML saw it, I almost died inside and what was even worse was when MC said that his aunt came. I was seriously going to hurl myself off a cliff. (Aunt is used to refer to a girls period)

But overall, it was a really fun novel to read and I enjoyed it alot to the point where I stayed up really late.

I was fed so much dog food, but who cares when you have Jian Huan and Xiang Huaizhi? There was a lot of fluff and embarrassment, and some humour.

Jiang Zi Bei is absolutely one of my favourite authors. Her novels are always interesting to read and once I pick up a novel she writes I finish it.

I don't think I even need to say anything! Isn't it already so obvious that this novel is hella good? As always, Jiang Zi Bei writes masterpieces!

I really want to strangle my past self for avoiding it for 2 years straight thinking that I might not like a novel In which the in-game interactions covered the most part than real life. Basically I had made my own assumptions towards it, thinking that the ML might be too cold or there will be too much second hand embarrassment, even tho I... more>> have read and loved all other novels by this author.i thought it might not be fun since I already read the spoilers and so. But I'm so glad I finally read it... its a masterpiece! A comedic gold! And if anyone has the same apprehensions as me, then please take a lesson from my story and don't avoid it! Go read it! Its worth your time!

It was so freakin hilarious right from the start that there wasn't even one moment when I wasn't laughing or smiling goofily reading it! The in game interactions were so funny! It wasn't the type of comedy which doesn't even hit its mark, but rather the puns, the reactions, the comedic dialogues! Everything was done right and hit the nail and oh boi I just totally fell in love with huanhuan in the process! The contrast between his in game actions and words and his real thoughts and actions was just perfect. Idk how many times I just wanted to screenshot the whole novel lol. Every part was so funny! I'm in awe of the author for writing this so well! She kept the comedy going from the first chapter to the end, without ever making me bored or tired (I literally pulled an all nighter because I couldn't stop reading and this rarely happens!)

While I loved the in-game parts, I still felt that there should have been more irl interactions and so glad that the author fulfilled my wish! The latter half of the novel was just that! Lots of irl interactions, dog food being scattered everywhere! Me blushing like a tomato while fangirling, laughing and totally melting at how good the romance was! The author perfectly balanced it with both the halves then! So no worries, there's so much fluff and romance! Enough to make you melt into a puddle of goo!

I've always loved the characters written by Jiang Zi Bei and there's no exception in this novel too!Her MCs are always unique in each novel! Yanyan was a precious cinnamon roll, Jian Rong was a badass yet adorable baby while Huanhuan is totally hilarious, proactive, coquettish and flirtatious! He was digging pits for himself through out the novel lol but when it was time to chase the one he loved, he was super flirty and proactive in showing his affections, a quality of MCs written by Jiang Zi Bei that I always love! He was resolute in admitting his mistake and apologising!I love how he pursued the ML and was totally shameless in the process because yess if you love someone, you have to pursue them and express your affections!His confession!!! I love that confession so much!!!Huanhuan really kept winning my heart the more I read on ahead!And I think this is my third time saying this in a review (of JZB's novels) but damn boi The MLs written by JZB are always so damn hot, gentle and loving that they always manage to make me melt into a puddle and Xiang Huaizhi, our ML was just that. He was so loving, gentle and pateint, always trying his best to love and take care of Huanhuan in his own way. Boi do I even need to say more?? The romance was super good with such leads!

How can we forget the side characters, always adding more hilarity and spice to the story lol. Lu Wenhao was the best boi lol without him the novel wouldn't have been this good! I loved all the interactions between huanhuan and his roommates! I need such bros too! And the best wingman award goes to Lu Hang! The ML's roommate! He was always out helping the ML figure out his feelings and tipping off the MC about ML's actions lol! The in-game guild character just added more to it and I really liked them all too! Seriously this novel wouldn't have been this good, if even one of then was missing lol.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel! Having read a lot of novels at this point, its rare for me to enjoy myself this much while reading anything, but this novel managed to do just that! I highly recommend you guys to read it and do check out JZB's 'I can do it' and 'Pubg online romance of the century'!Both of these are as good as this one!She's such an awesome author and needs more recognition! 🙌🙌 <<less

I've been reading a few novels these days but I wasn't able to finish them in one go for some reasons. 囧Rz Then I figured out that the comedy genre is missing!⊙︿⊙

Luckily I found this novel! ~^O^~ I'm not into the gaming genre but this caught my interest~ (*^_^*) It wasn't heavy, quite easy to read, and the translators did an amazing job! Yay!

Done eating this dog food, now time to go to Yanyan's!!!! (ﾟ∀ ﾟ)

Out of the three completely tl'd JZB's esport novels, this one is more enjoyable. MC is cute and somewhat embarrassing to read when he's online but I find his interaction with ML during school times was so cute and I lost sleep over this.

ML is also good. Although I was so pissed at him near end I couldn't stop ranting about him hahaahhahhhahah anyhows. If it weren't for that, I would rate this 5. The translations are immaculate as always!

A great lighthearted online gaming story! Ahhh this story made me laugh so much and I adore the MC's personality

Summary: University student Jing Huan (MC, shou) was once one of the best players in this MMORPG but quit several years ago due to his parents. However, he learns that his beloved older cousin was two-timed by player 'Yearning For' and after learning that he is the number one DPS player in the game, MC decides to get revenge by catfishing him and emptying his wallet! He creates a female account... more>> and buys a voice changer to dupe this slag man! However, Xiang Huaizhi (ML, gong) is the owner of the account and wasn't actually involved in the whole affair as someone else was using his account at the time. But the MC doesn't know it and decides to pursue his revenge (and the man) with vigor and the ML falls. Hard.

Let me just say, the highlight of this novel is 100% the personalities of the characters and the humor. The author is so good at creating funny situations.

Jing Huan (affectionately called Huanhuan) : He is so confident. He doesn't tell anyone about his plan because he believes it will succeed and is fully dedicated to playing the role of an obsessed fan who likes slag men. And I mean 100% committed. He throws away his dignity and goes above and beyond when it comes to confessing his 'love'. The funniest thing is that when the MC and ML meet in real life (before the reveal), the ML is shocked at the personality difference between the person online and his real life persona. Oh and I adored watching the MC realize that he is gay and likes the ML.

Xiang Huaizhi: A stoic person who is reserved due to past grievances. It's very cute to see him slowly realizing that the MC is special to him and making him do things he would never do in the past.

He actually discovers who the MC is (without the MC realizing that his cover is blown) and believes that the MC did all this because he genuinely likes him. It's actually quite sad when he realizes that it was all a ploy and that the MC didn't like him T-T

I will say that the characters live a very nice life. They all come from affluent families that can support their choices (they are university boys with cars, expensive limited edition shoes, and can go on vacations). It's unrealistic in this sense and the parents are hardly ever mentioned (except for comedic relief) but let's be honest, we didn't come here for realism!

The funniest scene in this story for me:

  • MC figuring out that the ML is someone he knows in real life and smashing/crushing his phone to prevent his cover from being blown. This scene lives in my mind rent-free
  • ML talking with the MC (before the MC knows his cover is blown) and asking about how it's going with the MC pursuing his crush. The MC in RL is very honest about it and says "the person I'm pursuing isn't that great" which leads the ML to spiral and wonder why he's not that great XD It actually causes the ML to make bigger changes and be romantic because he really likes the MC!

My only complaint with the story is that there was this whole buildup that the MC used to be super strong in the past and his name was known in previous servers but this doesn't really get used as a plot point except in showing that the MC is pretty good at using a notoriously weak character. I feel like it would have been funny if he one day revealed it and he and the ML could have a friendly PK but it's just used to give him background for being good at the game. There are a couple of other plot points that aren't explored as much as I would have liked but this is my biggest gripe!

Overall, this is a super hilarious and fluffy story that is great if you just want something light and easy to read! You might dislike the MC at first because he really is playing the ML but he does it in such a funny, dedicated manner that you forgive him. Also, he redeems himself when he sincerely confesses and pursues the ML. Their CP dynamic is cute too~ (lmao everyone on campus ships them and this extends to even more people later on) <<less

Probably my favourite novel and my favourite author. I have bought the Audio Drama, I have bought the Traditional Chinese physical copy and I'm about to buy the new Simplified Chinese physical copy once it comes out. Jiang Zi Bei is really really good at writing gay characters and I really like that it doesn't have the common danmei tropes of vaguely homophobic themes.

Both MC and ML are great, they are absolutely hilarious and incredibly in love. Even early on they are hyper aware of each other and their relationship... more>> progression is incredibly natural and sweet. I think Xiang Huaizhi is genuinely one of my favorite MLs, he's very kind and supportive and capable and really gentle to MC but not overly-so. I also like that MC clearly communicated his feelings once he came to terms with them. MC is also affectionate and proactive which was incredibly refreshing to read. Also there wansn't any arguing about positions or embarassment over the shou position which is surprising in danmei but also something Jiang Zi Bei is really good at. Supporting cast is great as well.

Incredibly funny and sweet novel with great characters. Translation is also exceptional. Definite must-read. <<less

My gooosh!! This was so good! It is rare that a book keeps me interested till the end and this is one of those books. It

has the right amount of fluff, little angst and who doesn't LOVE a book with a cold top and shy but forward bottom??? The MC and ML's friends are hilarious!! And you can't help but love the MC dig himself a deeper hole as he slowly realizes the feelings he has for the ML lool. Anyway, this was an adorable and hilarious must read!

Misunderstanding that leads to hilarity then love.

As what the synopsis said, MC is posing as a girl to avenged his cousin who was conned by a slag man in an online game. He finally founnd the guy and decided to seduced him, little did he know that all of his antics will backfire at him soon. Good thing that the "slag man" is very sweet and understanding. This where everything starts.

This is actually my first danmei novel. I came from reading Candy Man to My Darling Signed In to Guide on How to Fail at Online Dating. All I can say is that it's a good read! Pretty entertaining and cute. I didn't regret reading this in a single bit.

It's a 5/5 for me.

Super sweet. I love that the MC is headstrong and isn't your typical bottom. I really enjoy reading about everyone outside the game, especially the dorm mates 😂 Friendships are amazing and this story has definitely highlighted that. MC and ML are so cute and we're able to read how both of them are pursuing the other! CUTE! Tiny bit disappointed that author has had to clarify that MC is thinner, fairer compared to a normal male like.. You don't need to prove that the MC is slightly more feminine to make him the bottom. But this is the norm for Chinese novels I guess.

It's a very sweet story. CP is blessed and there isn't much drama from external factors. A part of me died and I was tearing up because I can totally understand their feelings. Emotional turmoil is equal between the two.

This is a very SFW and a two-day binge? Only regret is that the story is biased for our protagonist. I would want to hear more of our ML but he does have his moments, but narration can be acutely described as "actions speaks louder than words"

AAAAAAAA I LOVE IT!!!!!

At first, I was really reluctant on reading this and giving it a try because of some of the reviews mentioning about its second-hand embarrassments. I am a reader who avoids second-hand embarrassment because I can't take it. I also am a reader who hesitates seeing the reviews of those who rated the story 3 stars or lower. BUT!!!! I still gave it a try because majority of the ratings were good. AND NOW ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITES AAAAAHHH NO REGRETS!!! Even when the most embarrassing... more>> parts came, I never had the urge to stop reading. It only made me want to continue to find out what happens next and how things progress.

I am not someone who is good at giving reviews and critiquing a story. All I can say is that this story is full of fluffs and never made my smile disappear from my face (did I say that right?), except for when the climax finally came, of course. But after that, my smile, once again, never left my face until my mouth hurt. This story (don't know how to put it) gave a different kick from the other stories that I've read in the past, especially the relationship of XHZ and JH.

All in all, for the reader of this review, I really, really, really, really, very much so, recommend this story to you and urge you to binge-read it with no sleeping HAHAHA if you're someone like me, I'm definitely sure you won't regret reading this novel until the very end :))

This is my first ever bl that I read accidentally. You could say that previously I avoided bl novels like plague. I really like one of the stories by this author so I decided to read this story bcause I thought it was a straight story. Around 10 chapters or more, I finally realized its a bl so I had to dropped it. Fast forward, I am now very much into bl that I have read lots of bl including manhwa, manga, drama and novels. So, so good. This novel was a pleasant surprise and I absolutely loved it.

I had this novel bookmarked for some time but I was debating on actually reading it because, given the summary, I was expecting this to have an annoying MC. Thank goodness our MC here is none of that.

MC is a bit clumsy and a bit of an airhead sometimes, but the author handled his character so well that those traits only made him endearing and never annoying. Despite some of his ill-advised impulsive decisions (like deciding to... more>> catfish the ML), he is level-headed and makes the mature decision when it's needed.

ML is also great. I know cool and protective MLs are popular and I like them as well, but sometimes such MLs just become cold and overbearing and it ruins the reading experience. ML here is none of that. The author strikes a good balance in MLs characterization.

Despite being taciturn, ML is sweet and gentle in his own way. I loved that he treated MC with such care even when he only thought of MC as an ordinary underclassman and hasn't discovered that MC is the female character in-game. And even when he found out, he tried to understand why MC did it instead of exploding in anger right away. In this house, we stan an understanding ML who doesn't jump to needless conclusions.

Anyway, I absolutely loved this novel. I'm not much of a gamer but the setting of this novel did not throw me off, it was very easily digestible because the author explained it clearly.

Also, props to the translators because I can only imagine how difficult it was to translate the game jargon and forum lingo that the characters were using in a way that English readers would understand while preserving its context. Thank you for doing what you do! <<less

Cringe worthy at its best. Just as you thought it couldn't get any cringier.. you level up. The premise is refreshing and the ride was thoroughly enjoyable. I agree that the characterization of MC and ML is similar to MDZS' WeiWuXian vs LanWangji - MC is shameless but reserved as well. ML is the cool and unfeeling beauty who is only warm to MC. Super cute story! I saw all the positive and gushing reviews for this novel on NU but was a little hesitant to start reading bc the synopsis and reviews sounded like there was going to be a lot of misunderstandings and embarrassment in the story. And while there really were, I still enjoyed it greatly, especially near the end.

My biggest gripe is still going to be how many misunderstandings there were, especially when they could have been easily solved by like one more unsuspecting question or clarification. I am glad... more>> that in this story the author finally didn't make an MC who would be weak and embarrassed all the time in front of the ML, since I found Jing Huan's personality super refreshing (in real life). Loved the dog food in the later chapters, loved the cute friendships, enjoyed all of the guild convos. I appreciate that here both the MC and ML were rich and had happy families, a nice break from the tragic backstories of the MCs and MLs that I've been reading recently. Wish the ending were longer and I could get stuffed with more dog food. <<less

As a gamer, I am always happy to read gaming danmei. I loved it, especially the comedy but also the talented way the author (and translators of course) managed to convey the delicate emotions and sentiments of the 2 protags so well, with realism and without exaggeration. It is a lighthearted slice-of-life of 2 rich chinese uni students, with typical chinese family and friends and typical chinese gaming culture.

The misunderstandings will of course lead to some angst in the late chapters but, as an angst-hater myself, I can say that... more>> it is tolerable, the drama felt contrived but not melodramatic. Also, not to spoil too much but I like how the protag courageously redeemed himself afterwards. <<less
