Honestly a pretty decent book !! It had some rough parts but towards the end, everything just came together. Whenever I think about these two, I fall into deep thought because of how much they went through. The plot was not the best IMO but it wasn't bad. I absolutely love their dynamic too !! One of my favorites hehe

It's so good I don't even know what else to say. The plot develops slowly so, it might seem kind of boring for some in the beginning but please don't drop it as you'll be missing an amazing book then. (I wasn't able to stop myself from binge reading it even when I was working and subsequently, even when I got ill 😂)

There is this system which was built with a positive motives and goals. But as the plot progressed, it's seen that the system is quite cruel at... more>> times with moments of naivety and emotions which is difficult to decipher. There are moments when today you are talking to someone and in the next moment that someone is dead because of the system. It's a really heartbreaking story too.
Spoiler

With all the memory losses and time lost due to system, ugh.

[collapse]

With the plot moving forward, secrets are revealed slowly. Some clues are dropped here and there.

The MC (You Huo) and ML (Invigilator 001 aka Qin Jiu) are too OP. The understanding, the talent, the love they have for each other is too much. Ah, don't even remind me about the cute but cheesy nicknames Qin Jiu has for You Huo like Big Invigilator (❤️), our top student, etcetera etcectra.

There are times when one will feel like crying, or have goosebumps, or like they are eating dog food, or so happy that you'll want to jump and laugh and clap. It's a story so meticulously written I have no words.

There are quite a few people I'll still be shipping together even if the story came to an end.
Spoiler

Like 154 and 922. Ah, don't even ask about them. This pair of Invigilators (?😉) is too great. Even in the end the first word 154 said is of 922. They are pair full of brains. Another is Di Li (Top student) and Yu Wen. They seem polar opposites but a perfect match for each other in the long run. They story of Shu Xie and Zhao Wentu really made me sad. So, even if Shu Xue later on forgot about the system, I hope this time they'll both have a happy ending.

[collapse]

It's a novel totally worth your time and is totally a rereading material. You'll find hints here and there while reading. <<less

it was a long ride but i’m finally done reading it after weeks lol and it was amazing!

plot: 5/5 the mystery is good, the exams don’t have repetitive themes and no badly written cliches from what I've seen. the overarching plot is interesting and doesn’t really have any plotholes. I enjoyed reading the story alongside the romance.

romance: 100000/100 super sweet and romantic. it’s slow burn of sorts but doesn’t completely fit its definition. the pain of it all..... my heart absolutely broke for our MC and ml. who did they... more>> offend in their previous lives to be separated for so long and so cruelly?? I love the chemistry between our MC and ml. ML is such a romantic and the MC and ML are so gentle. they deserve the absolute world. never f*cking separate these old men (not really old, MC is 28 and ML is 30) again or get a beating from me!!!

characters: also 5/5 there’s growth & development in unorthodox ways. it’s not the obvious and progressive type where you can see the MC and ML slowly changing, but you notice later on how different they were initially. I love how op MC and ML are but they’ll also fall into traps and do embarrassing things (ahem, I really laughed at the twins arc). the supporting characters also aren’t just mentioned and disposed of like cannon fodder! they have their very own colorful personalities and roles in our mc’s and ml’s lives. it’s so refreshing to see an ML who actually has an important story arc ish with a best friend and for a cold MC to have found family and not yearn for whoever abandoned him. I love it. I love it.

my review can’t hold a candle to the experience of reading this work. please give it a shot. the first two arcs may move a little slow and the memory loss may slow down the romance from completely trickling in but it’s all worth it in the end. if there’s anything i’d complain about, it’s that we don’t see how MC and ML are outside after all that chaos!!! give me domestic yh and qj!!! give me holding hands at an amus**ent park yh and qj!! give me this group of friends all hanging out together after everything!!

Spoiler

alas. I was sad about sx forgetting about everything. : (they were all great friends too. she and zhao wentu are so cute though. zw should have already been 20 by then, I assume so it’s kind of okay for them to be together. i’m just happy that they both get to live peacefully after all of that.

I read this after starting the Manhua and ending in a cliffhanger. I couldn’t handle the wait so I read the novel.

This is currently my favourite Danmei. The characters are well written and the dynamics between them each have their own unique twists and are really well done.

When I tell you I have never laughed so hard while reading in my life... this novel was hilarious from start to finish but had enough quality world-building, plot development, and heart-wrenching emotions to balance it out.

I highly recommend looking at the carrd... more>> for this novel before reading it. The carrd is funny and made me so hyped to read it despite already having read some of the manhua and having a base understanding already.

The author really had me on a roller-coaster of emotions. It was giving us Your Mum jokes one second, and heart-breaking lines about love and loss the next.

(also did I mention the world-building, I think I need to remind people of the world-building - it’s top-tier)

The MC and the ML have a hilarious dynamic and their tacit understanding of each others thoughts and feelings was so good. They are smart, innovative, and have an inner dialogue funny enough to rival SVSSS (iykyk).

I would sell my soul to be able to read this for the first time again, and the translators did such an amazing job.

READ IT

It is my favourite, so obviously I am biased, but 10/10 would read again. <<less

Absolutely one of the most beautiful novels I've read, even only as a fan translation. Binged the entire novel in one day. I could felt all the angst and pain from the characters punch me in the gut, and loved that almost all of the characters that the MC and ML interact with play a key role in the story until the end. There's so much tension in this novel from the ever omnipotent system, so many different clues hidden throughout that suddenly come up as an epiphany, and above... more>> all the relationship between the two of them was beautiful. I only wish that we could have gotten more at the end to give me more closure and satisfaction, but I can understand that the author probably did this for a more literarily perfect ending. Really wish I could have gotten to see more of the MC and ML's daily life in the entire book and also at the end. Loved it, even as someone who hates amnesia as a trope with a passion. <<less

I haven't finished this novel yet, but I know it's gonna be either a 4 or 5 star from me! Unraveling the MC and ML's back story was so interesting. It's like ... more>>

Just now read this really... IDK, I giggled reading it. It doesn't spoil anything, so you can read it if you want:

Spoiler

At that moment, he suddenly felt that the collar around You Huo's neck was too tight.

So much that he wanted to go over and pull open the top button, rip off the mask, and either bite or kiss him. In any case, he wanted to do something to break up that frozen face and make those cold lips show some other emotions.

[collapse]

I have read quite a few of those 'forced into a system to complete weird test' stories, where the MC is an examinee and the ML is an examiner, but this one was written quite compellingly. The MC is not a Mary Sue, nor is the ML condescending. And the added intricacy of they and the side-characters' back stories adds a whole other level to it. Thanks to the translator and Mu Su Li <3

UPDATE: finished it and DAMN I had heaps of fun trynna figure out just how the MC, ML and the System were connected to each other, and I did NOT expect... certain things about certain characters. Because I enjoyed it, I'm gonna basically explain it:

Spoiler

So - You Huo's mother was a researcher, who installed the system within him and Chu Yue, so that it could 'learn' how to be human. Eventually, it was removed from them; You Huo and Chu Yue became the head invigilators of the system: A and Z respectively. However, on the outside, people realised that the system was going nuts, and sent death squad members to try and take it down. Qing Jiu (001) and 992 (forgot his real name lol) were two of the members, with QJ tasked to get close to Invigilator A and use him to take down the system. However, QJ and YH fell in love, and started an affair. CY aided them in covering up their tracks - however, the system found out anyway. QJ was sent out, and YH was severely tortured as punishment.

Then, hundreds of invigilators were brought in to sort of 'balance out' the original 26 invigilators. One of them was QJ, who'd now had his memories totally erased, along with 992. Although QJ couldn't help but find YH familiar, the latter denied ever knowing him. So they were known for going at each other's throats because YH was softer in dealing with the system (yes, he was terrified, because he knew exactly what it was capable of) whilst QJ was all for beating it up. Eventually QJ noticed that YH seemed to always be spying on him, and eventually fell in love with him again - however, he wasn't sure if YH felt the same way, and didn't act on it. Upon going to the punishment centre oneday, he found out that YH had been punished before for having an 'inappropriate relationship' with an examinee named 'Qin Jiu', and he realised the truth. And once more... yup.

This time, they worked together with Chu Yue to bring down the system. But they failed, and QJ was severely injured, whilst YH lost his vision. However, an accident occured which allowed the 'human' side of the system, that is, the part of the system that was influenced by its experience 'living' as You Huo and Chu Yue, became its own person. And that person... is 154.

He was able to send You Huo out of the system, and pretended to be an examinee so he could eventually become an invigilator and stand by QJ's side to help him; he also arranged for 922 to work with QJ, despite knowing that those 2 couldn't remember their long time friendship. I LOVE 154 SO DAMN MUCH. Oh and btw, Old Yu always knew about the system and You Huo's involvement with it. He felt terrible that he couldn't stop his mother from doing that to him, so he always tried his best to look after You Huo later on in life, even though he was scared by the idea that the system might still exist within him. LOVE THAT OLD MAN.

So yes, the system is pulling it's hair out in the first chapter cuz NO MATTER HOW HARD IT TRIES these two seem to always find one another and fall in love all over again hahaha - it's already the 3rd time around!

Even though I gave it only 4/5 score, in fact I really like this story. Especially the interactions between the ML and MC. Even the side characters overall were indeed likable. Definitely one of my favorite CP this year.

But the problem is the main characters were too OP?

After reading until the end, I know those two also had been through so much in their lives but still, sometimes it feels that they were too OP as normal humans.

Anyway, I like this novel. Will probably be one of my most favorite... more>> novels in 2022. After reading one another novel, I couldn't find any other novel that's suitable to my taste. I even dropped 3-4 novels beforehand. But after reading this novel, I even managed to completely reading it in just less than one week. This novel jus made me sooo addicted!

Now, my standard once again also raised higher all thanks to this novel.

Also I feel like compared to a few authors I know, Mu Su Li's way of describing, making either good, sweet, or sad lines is just top-notch! You will understand it after reading the novel. <<less

I'm in love with this novel. Mu Su Li never disappoints. The story is brilliant, and the characters are well-rounded. Some people might have guessed some parts of the plot, but nevertheless, it is interesting. There are a few interesting plot twists. I couldn't put it down. The novel is big (166 chapters), but it wasn't enough; I need more. It never gets boring and is really fast-paced. There are a few arcs, and each of them is engrossing.

Not only is the story amazing, but the characters are brilliant too,... more>> not only ML and MC but also side characters and villains. MC is a cold and clever person who has two moods: sleeping and problem-solving. ML is shameless and loves to cause trouble. At first, they don't get along, and their interactions and banter are hilarious. Their story is heartbreaking and so romantic that I couldn't help but get emotional.

Side characters main function is to worry because of or for MC and ML and hug their tights in a difficult situation, but they are well-rounded and likable. I just have to mention the unfortunate villains who were bullied and lost their faces because of certain troublemakers.

I won't describe the plot because I might accidentally spoil something, which would be a crime. I will just say that it's really worth reading. It became my favorite instantly. If you have read Mu Su Li's other works, then you already know how talented she is, and if you haven't, it's time to find out. <<less

Overall, a decent, solid read. The author put a lot of thought and effort went into creating each of the exams, and the world + system in general. Each exam had a lot of detail but without being overwhelming or distracting from the overarching plot. I like the pacing of the story. At the start of the story, you don’t have much information, and you slowly find out little bits of info that help you piece together the backstory little by little. It’s a good balance where it’s mysterious enough... more>> that you want to keep reading so you find the next piece of the puzzle, but not so mysterious that you have no idea what’s going on.

Interactions between MC and ML are sweet but without being too “lovey dovey.” I appreciated that even though they care about each other, they have confidence in each other’s intelligence and abilities and don’t have the urge to “protect” each other to the point of interfering in the other person’s life (which seems to happen in a lot of books).

First half of the novel is better than the second (although the second half is not bad). In the second half, there were some places that I felt had some logic errors, like the characters would come to a conclusion but their reasoning didn’t feel convincing/it was easy to think of counter-examples that would invalidate their reasoning. It also sometimes seemed like when the MC and ML found out something new, all the other characters automatically then knew the same thing, without MC and ML ever having told them. One big example:

Spoiler

154 reveals his true identity to MC and ML only, but after that the whole group of 30-40 exam proctors apparently also know, or at least suddenly trust him completely and know that he has the power to override a bunch of stuff in the system.

[collapse]

There are also just some things that I feel the author could have researched more. Such as devices/weapons/other things that don’t actually work in real life the way they were used in the book. Or medical treatment procedures that aren’t accurate to real life. But those things weren’t a huge detractor from the story overall.

The book has many similarities to The Earth is Online, but in my opinion is much better. The details are richer, writing style is more fluid. The Earth is Online has this very detached style, which perhaps is intentional due to the personality and worldview of the MC. But MC in Global Examination is similarly cold and rational, but the writing style is richer and makes it easier to get absorbed in the story. Also compared to The Earth is Online, there is more variety in the cast of characters, and I think the side characters are more interesting/thoughtfully crafted. <<less

Haven't read it yet, so haven't rated it.

A friend highly recommended this novel to me. (By receommend I mean shoving it down my throat.) I've skimmed through the manhwa version and it left me scratching my head a bit then quietly closed the browser tab.

Note to self cuz I agree with some of the reviews; I read mystery because I want to enjoy the mystery, not because I want to be confused by the mystery...

I have the same problem with early chapters of Conan, when he suddenly solved all crimes... more>> without explanation of how he came to understand/reason it. In comparison, I really love how the author of Kindaichi solved their crimes. It acutally made sense and there were clues/hints that readers can take and solve along with the characters. This is how a mystery is really delicious. From what I gathered (questions and answers are many times illogical), in this novel it is unfortunately not the case... I will prabably be frustrated throughout.

Putting it on "Should I read this???" list, for now. <<less

This is an action filled novel with strong lead characters. Both the MC and ML have very distinct characters that seem like the opposite of each other at first, but show strong resemblance on the second look. Their personalities make it seem difficult for them to get along. However, the opposite is the case here. One hot and the other cold, one lackadaisical and the other strict. But both of them rebellious and willful.

Their relationship dynamic is exciting and full of sparks and tension at first, but eventually develops to... more>> the point where they can only really breathe and completely relax when they are with each other, their tacit understanding shooting through the roof.

The plot is very much story driven, yet does not neglect the romance aspect. While there is no flowery sweet romance the novel does well in showcasing the passionate, yearning and s*xual tension, almost carnal aspects of love.

A lot of side characters also get a lot of screen time with each contributing to the plot in a way that might not have been obvious at first. Characters that you would have considered unimportant at first turned out to be important. So yay for the well-developed characterizations.

As you can already tell, I am a big fan of this novel and would recommend it to anyone who likes BL, especially those who are already a bit more mature in age and who aren't into some bubbly romance but something more raw. <<less

Gahhd this thing has me in tears.

GUEE is such a good goddamn novel. From the characterisation to the plot it had me binge reading it for 3 days straight.

i think one of my favourite parts about this novel was that it included a cold MC who wasn't just a tsundere! He knew how to take initiative and show affection to the ML which is something strangely uncommon in some BL novels. Overall he was such a cool ass character and not a typical constantly-standoffish cold guy, and is foiled perfectly... more>> by the ML. Opposites clearly attract in this case.

The endgame revelations also had me in tears. If I had to compare it to another novel, it would be Nan Chan - lovers connected no matter how their environment and circumstances change give me heartburn (in a good way). I also love how the side characters were given substantial roles - although these felt a little contrived at times it was still a cool feature and a far cry from the typical cannon fodder u sometimes see.

Overall this is such a good read. Highly recommend as an excellent quality novel, both in content and translation:)

Follow up: started reading the manhua (which you should do! The art is soo good!!) and im crying experiencing their relationship again for the first time. Plz give this a try - it's so damn worth it. <<less

Overall: 4.6 Personal: 4.8

The MC and the ML tension is palpable, so much that I found myself yelling and worrying with some of the side characters. The romance starts a little later in the novel (about half way through 70), but it is very well written, CUTE, and lovely!!!!

There are are some plot holes especially around Arc (Exam) 5 and 6, but Exams are not what I thought it would be, some times, I wish the author gave a complete explanation but in the same time, it helps me think... more>> and closes up pretty well for those who aren't obsessed with all the technical stuff.

The MC and ML both are very fearless and a little lacking in emotion before getting together (with the ML being a bit more playful than our MC). On one hand, it doesn’t seem like there’s much character development as the 2 are pretty OP. However, they’re still very interesting characters in their own right, and the slow reveal of their backstory and shared history is fascinating to watch unfold. <<less

I would like to start by saying that this novel is remarkably well done. The story arcs feel rich and complete and all characters felt fully fleshed out. It's an unlimited flow novel, and I felt that the reasoning for the unlimited flow existing and the nature of its processes made sense, though many of my biggest remaining questions are still from the system itself.

I think this story's strength is in its characters. The MC and ML are an OP battle couple, but they're also really sweet and will... more>> provide plenty of dog food. I like that they're a playful couple, they bicker but it's always in good humor. All of the side characters are likeable and you'll root for them.

Something that I really liked, and I can't believe this is unusual: fully-fleshed out, non-antagonistic female characters. It is extremely unusual for danmei to feature women with an equal ratio to the number of men in the novel. Obviously, the leads are both male, but there are several side characters with backstory, personalities and aspirations that also happen to be women. It's refreshing.

I think where the novel struggles a bit is in some of the more logistical questions. Namely, I was most annoyed with the punishment system, because I thought it didn't make sense.

Spoiler

Spoiler: the act of rule breaking during the exams doesn't make a lot of sense. Usually, the rules are not expressed to the characters and then the characters are punished on the basis of breaking the rules for things many people likely would have done. I guess one could argue that it's because the system is broken, but I feel that's a flimsy argument at best.

[collapse]

I also thought the initial reason for creating the system was a bit... pointless? Honestly, QTs and unlimited flow tend to not have very strong reasons for existing, so its pretty nitpicky.

Spoiler

Spoilers: it's fairly early revealed that the reason the system was created was to help enlist specialized military personnel. But from the very beginning, it seems like the invigilators were never able to leave. What's the point in highly trained people if they are never able to leave and join the military?

[collapse]

That aside though, I did like the ending. I thought it felt somewhat realistic and felt complete for the character arcs.

I would highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys: unlimited flow; horror; mysteries and power couples. <<less

On the downside, this book is too long! 1800 pages... it take me months to finish and... more>> the last two arcs were a bit heavy to read because this. <<less
